Trou-aux-cerfs - Chamarel - Grand Bassin -Private Guided Tour (Min. 2 Persons)

We did two tours - The Port Louis Istorik (Port Louis and Pamplemousses Botanical Garden) and Wild South (Grand Bassin, Seven Coloured Earth Geopark, Rhumerie de Chamarel, Black River Gorges National Park) both with Javed as our driver. Car was clean and comfortable and Javed arrived in good time. The tours gave us such a good insight into the history and culture of Mauritius and we saw some amazing things that we probably wouldn't have seen had we not done the tours. Javed's knowledge of and enthusiasm for Mauritius was infectious. We really learnt alot and this was down to Javed. We went to the Pamplemousses botanical gardens where we would have got completely lost had it not been for Javed pointing out the most amazing trees and plants. The tours were the best possible way of getting to know Mauritius. Mautourco also took care of out transfers to and from the airport to the hotel - these were totally seemless and beautifully organised. When we were leaving, the Mautourco rep met the car and took our luggage all the way to the check in desk - this was not expected and a real bonus. Both the drivers were also very knowledgeable about Mauritius and gave us a good taste of the country. Would highly recommend

We booked 2 trips with our virgin rep and on both we had drivers from this company and both were excellent, however on 1 we had Pravesh a private guide and tour in the south and it was worth every penny, we visited the Hindu Temple on the lake, a waterfall, saw the caldera and amazing views, had lunch up in the hills with panoramic views and saw the 7 coloured earth and giant tortoise and to top off the day went to the rum distillery, our guide was very knowledgeable and we had a great day and enjoyed every minute and can highly recommend this company who are very professional

We were collected and dropped off by at the Airport by Mautourco, which was smooth and seamless. In addition their Travel Consultant at the Resort assisted us with booking tours that would give us the experiences we were specifically looking for. On 15th May 2025, myself and a friend had the pleasure of exploring south Mauritius as part of the Mautourco excursion. As part of our tour we got to see the black river gorges, temples, enjoy lunch in Chamarel, the seven coloured earth park and rum tasting. We had several day tours with Mautourco during our stay in Mauritius in late April 2025. It was a fantastic experience. Our driver and guide Sanjiva was amazing, very punctual, thoughtful, knowledgeable and prepared to adjust the itinerary to show us new places as we had some overlaps in scheduling for different tours. We had a lovely time and have seen most of the highlights of this beautiful island. Many thanks to Sanjiva and our hotel representative Audrey for such a wonderful experience.

We booked a full day private Wild South tour, and it was pouring with rain as we set off. However our driver & guide, Ben, wasn't going let a shower ruin our trip. It was a very varied day including a fantastic Temple visit, giant tortoises, a waterfall and rum tasting. Ben made sure we got the most out of the many sights & was keen to ensure we captured lots of our day with some lovely pictures. We enjoyed the lunch with a fabulous view, and our request for a gluten free meal was carried out without fuss.

Such a fun, interesting and varied trip. We saw so many of the southern sights of the island. A great way to get to know more about Mauritius. Packed a lot in but it never felt rushed. Our guide Raggoo was particularly amazing. He had incredibly in-depth knowledge about Mauritius, its history, flora and fauna, and culture, which he delivered in a in a lovely approachable and friendly way. It was a very enjoyable day. We would really recommend the tour and also Raggoo as a guide.

We had a fantastic private tour yesterday with our brilliant guide Vikash. Vikash was very friendly, funny and knowledgeable, telling us all about the history of Mauritius, and its culture and people. We visited numerous sites on our tour and really enjoyed the Hindu temple, waterfall and seven coloured earth. Another highlight was the stop at the rum distillery which Vikash made very fun and informative. The lunch at a panoramic restaurant in Chamarel was also a perfect addition to the trip with great food and viewing point. Big thank you to Vikash for making yesterday so memorable for us, the tour will be one of the highlights of our honeymoon and we would highly recommend as a great was to see and find out more about Mauritius.

We went on a private tour of the south side of the island with our driver, Deepak. It was the best day of our honeymoon, Deepak was absolutely fantastic and ensured that we had the best time and felt relaxed the whole way through the tour. He had so much knowledge about the islands history and was genuinely lovely to talk to. We visited an amazing Hindu temple at the holy lake, lots of nature spots, saw giant tortoises, seven coloured earth, a rum distillery and some waterfalls. We also saw a large family of monkeys at the side of the road.

Our guide and the vehicle were good but the tour itself very lacklustre. I am afraid it felt like following the crowd and paying to be driven to vendors really. The first 2 stops were just to see people who tried to sell you ornaments and silk which was'nt really what we signed up for. The volcano crater is very underwhelming and its incredibly busy meaning its really not much fun at all. The hindu temples are pretty tatty but that was quite interesting seeing them. The viewpoint over the valley was nice but again massively busy and you just join a queue. When we drove back past it on the way home there was less than half the number of vehicles there so why not see it on the way back maybe? The coloured sand and tortoises are nice enough but only a few minutes. The restaurant for lunch had stunning views and nice food. Guess its not so much fun if the weathers bad but it was good at least to start with so that was nice. Then on the way back yet another stop off at a clothes shop to try and sell us polo shirts. Sorry but to be told we are going to a traditional high end clothing factory and then to be taken to that place just annoyed me. Shame as its a pretty island but I just felt like you spent the whole day queueing and trying to be sold stuff you didnt want.

This excursion was the highlight of our honeymoon. Raggoo was an absolutely fantastic guide - he was very kind, entertaining and extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend paying the extra to go private with this tour, as the tour went at our own pace, and Raggoo made extra stops to show us amazing things that you would normally miss in the group guided tour. We can’t praise Raggoo enough for his service - he is an absolute credit to the Mauritian tourist industry.

The tour included all the things we wanted plus our guide made it clear we could stop along the way if there was anything else. Our guide, Raggu, was so well informed he could answer all our questions and shared with us everything we wanted to know about the history of Mauritias, the places we were visiting and the flora and fauna along the way. He really went the extra mile and we had a brilliant day because of it. He made sure we got a great table at the lunch restaurant and talked to the waiting staff as well as the the people at each place. In particular he took a great deal of care making sure we understood the rituals and importance of the temple and statues. This was the highlight of our day. We could just be lucky but we keep meeting wonderful humans - but Raggu’s expertise and enthusiasm was inspiring!

An excellent tour, including a wide range of high quality experiences. The tour included waterfalls, volcanoes, rum tasting, Hindu temple, a delicious lunch, shops, giant tortoises, volcanic coloured ash, and lots more! We opted to pay £20 extra to have a private tour and it was well worth it. Ragoo was our brilliant driver and guide. He took us at our own pace, gave us lots of information about the history and culture of the island and answered our endless questions! He was good humoured and helpful. He made sure we got the best views (and got us the best table in the restaurant!) The car was luxurious, and his driving perfect. A fantastic day out, getting a great sense of this beautiful island.

Our tour guide Ragoo was absolutely incredible. He provided us with an excellent tour of Mauritius. He went above and beyond to squeeze in as much as he could into our tour. His knowledge of the country's history, landscape, vegetation, and culture was mind-blowing. He also has excellent driving skills. He really made us fall in love with Mauritius. Thank you Ragoo!

We booked this trip for my birthday in June 2022 and my boyfriend and I both had a really lovely day out! Our guide Ahmed was extremely knowledgeable about the islands history and had many interesting facts to hand. I would definitely recommend the private guided tour as you can spend as much or as little time at each location as you’d like. The only thing I’d point out is you initially stop off in a town called Curepipe where you are taken into a shop and asked to purchase something. The money behind the shop goes into supporting the homeless and is a fantastic cause, however I would definitely feel more inclined to purchase something from there if I had known it was a stop on the tour and wasn’t followed around the store/pressured to look at the more expensive items!! Apart from that, we had a really wonderful day out and the view and lunch at the Charamel restaurant is simply stunning!

Mautourco was the agent that provided our airport transfers for our break in late December 2021. We also booked 2 private tours with them. The cars were clean and well maintained. The driver guides were always on time and they were friendly and knowledgeable, so was the rep that met us at the hotel. Overall prompt, efficient and quality

We added this as part of our transfer between La Residence and Lakaz Chamarel. and were not disapponted. we expected a minibus or to share with others but we had our own vehicle and guide. He was so niformative about the history, culture and nature of the region. We visited the Grand Bassin and learned so much about the Hindu culture and the "seven coloured earth" is so unusual.

The private tour is highly recommended, especially with children. Our guide Mr. Raggoo drove very carefully because of the children, at the sights he gave us a lot of information, also adapted the tour flexibly. We opted for a driver guide Soopaya de Mautourco, (privately) an extraordinary passionate man who in addition to his great kindness taught us many things about Mauritius: hole crater with deer, gorges of black rivers (we saw monkeys free), visit of Grand Basin, Chamarel visit and tasting of rums (with lunch at the panoramic restaurant), Chamarel waterfall, the land of 7 colors: great day full of memories, we highly recommend! We loved this excursion which was really well led by Sébastien, a top guide who speaks French very well and tells us the story of Mauritius from its beginnings until now. It has been a few weeks since we returned to normal after an excellent wedding trip to Mauritius. We had some problems at the airports with Flights, but the friendliness and attention of Mautourco staff made us soon forget the bad experience with the airline. First of all Magaly was very attentive and detailed with the offer of the different excursions. He understood very well that we wanted to combine rest and excursions to live good adventures on the island. We made three excursions, two private: one to the South, temples, Chamarel, seven colors... another to Port Louis and the botanical garden of Pamplemousse, We also made a fun outing with the catamaran to Ile aux Cerfs. And what to say about Kattia, pure life, who made us feel with her knowledge and sympathy that we discovered very special secrets in each of the visits. For a few days we feel like Mauritiusans more than travelers. Something that's not easy to come by. We included taxi drivers, good drivers and who also made us feel very safe. At all times we had the feeling of having very friendly and attentive professionals watching over us. Thank you so much!

We booked two privately guided tours at Mautourco that exceeded all our expectations. We took the wild south excursion. We had the chance to visit splendid places with exceptional guides. Our driver Kamlesh was a real guide in the beginning of our excursion. She is a good listener who taught us a lot about Mauritian culture. We then joined Clarel who was a perfect guide, who explained and answered all the questions. Sharing personal experiences is also very enriching. All the places dazzled us and it was a very good experience. Our driver Kamlesh also took us to a magnificent spot to see Le Morne with a superb beach. An infinite thank you to these two people who made our excursion an unforgettable moment!

We took the southern excursion on Monday September 18, 2023. We were welcomed by our driver Vinesh who immediately put us in the mood to discover his island. Vinesh is very cultured and he knows how to tackle all themes (geographic, political, historical, animals, etc.). He was able to answer our questions and had a lot of humor. The meal at the rum factory restaurant is excellent and the tasting is a plus. And what's more, Vinesh is a good photographer. A beautiful, enriching day full of memories!

Through our hotel we booked the German guide «Satjan» for a Private Day Tour of the South. Satjam was very friendly, knew good German & could explain a lot of nature - great general knowledge. Bravo Satjam, on our next Mauritius trip we will book you again;).

Hello, we had the chance to make this tour with a guide driver named Vinesh. Thanks to him for all the explanations provided during the day. Time was not with us in this second part of the day but our guide knew how to adapt and advise us as best we could.We could not enjoy the view of the panoramic restaurant or the 7 colors but we had the chance to go. On the other hand the waterfall was very charged with water and mud.for the morning it was very good. Thank you again Vinesh.

We had booked a private tour for our family of 4 with German speaking guide/driver to explore the south of Mauritius. Our guide Satyam spoke very good German, was punctual, friendly and told us a lot of interesting things about the fauna, flora, people and history of the island. An unforgettable day! We visited the extinct volcano, several viewpoints with a view over the national park and various waterfalls, lunch in a panoramic restaurant (impresses with an incredible view, the food rather mediocre but the organizer can't help it), Hindu temple at the Grand Bassin, rum distillery of Chamarel with tasting, 7-colored earth in Chamarel. In one place there were a few set-up stalls to buy souvenirs, the vendors were not intrusive here and the prices at normal levels (not as three times as on the hotel beach). Overall a highly recommended tour and with Satyam a great guide!
