While the beach is stunningly beautiful, there weren’t enough chairs for all the people that were being dropped off. I can’t speak for all the food, but the lemon pepper wings were amazing! For the down sides… while I enjoyed the music, the host was yelling in the mic most of the afternoon. Bartenders and wait staff seemed annoyed by those of us that paid for an experience. It took forever to get food/ drinks even when they weren’t busy. Excursion said unlimited beverages, what it didn’t tell you is the only beverage unlimited was Bahama Mommas. Water, soda, or any other beverage you had to pay for. The beach was beautiful, but I think that’s a given in the Bahamas. I wouldn’t pay for this excursion a second time after my trip there.
Wonderful private beach. Service was fantastic!!! And beach front was clean and well cared for. I loved it
The beach was rocky, and there were also some broken beer bottles on the beach. You can only choose only choose one type of drink, only 3 options of food to choose from despite the description. Some party bus came and as they were drinking more they threw up as we were about to order our food. We called a cab and paid extra just to leave early. The tour guide that picked us up initially was really good though, the location was not great.
Beach , food, drinks all outstanding. Only issue we had was locating transportation at port. No signage.
Junkanoo Village Beach is so beautiful. Staff very friendly, laidback vibe. Just a wonderful place and relaxing calm water beach.
Had a great time! DJ plays great music & takes requests for specific songs. The drinks are great & the food is delicious! Lobster Bites is my favorite! CT & staff are the best! Will go back again!
Beautiful beaches with plenty of seating, staff was friendly and tentative. Food tasted good and they had music and games.
Wonderful value and a great beach club to spend a few hours! The food was delicious and the staff were wonderful to deal with for the duration of our visit! Very little to do in the cruise port of Freeport, so this is a wonderful option for cruise passengers traveling to Grand Bahama Island. My only complaint is that the time was cut shorter that advertised. We left right on time for the 12:30 time slot that we selected, but we had to be back to the bus by 3:00 to return to our cruise ship, giving us just over 2 hours to spend at the beach club. Overall a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend for cruise passengers looking for an excursion while in this port.
I want to be as upfront about this as possible... Junkanoo Beach Club itself was great. The staff were super friendly. The beach is nice. There were plenty of loungers and beach games for the family to pass the time with. Our family is vegetarian and there was nothing on the menu for us to eat, but the staff felt sorry that despite our repeated emails back and forth (for weeks leading up to the experience) with H. Forbes Charter Services, they were never notified that we were coming and were vegetarian otherwise they would have "gone to the store and bought stuff for us" (that's how great the staff there is). Still, they managed to put together some salads for my wife and I and a grilled cheese for my daughter. THE ONLY REASON for the low review is 100% a reflection on H. Forbes Charter Service. I have a left seperate, positive review for the club on their Google page, but I just cannot recommend purchasing this tour through H. Forbes. They knew for weeks that we had dietary restrictions and insisted that it would not be a problem if we booked. They were VERY slow to respond to emails after we booked (and they got our money). After the 3rd time time we advised them that we are booked and need to arrange food (per their original request), they waited until the day our cruise left to respond, which was outside their cancellation window, to tell us to "just order salad." This is the quickest way to tick off a vegetarian because, contrary to popular belief, we are not rabbits and don't live off salad nor are we OK with paying over $200 for salads. They said we could also put in an order for something else but left no guidance (again, after three attempts to get some) on what that something else could be. We have no idea what is available at Bahamian supermarkets or what the kitchen is equipped to cook. Could we order veggie burgers? Wraps? Sandwiches/Subs? Soup? Potato Salad? Cole Slaw? Pasta? What???? THEN, there was the whole experience the day of when they were nearly impossible to find because they had no signage. We had to ask multiple OTHER tour companies where H. Forbes was before we could find the lady, who barely said hi to us and told us to sit and wait for our bus in the immediate area. We did. However, after talking for a while we noticed she disappeared so we thought we missed her attempt to lead us to the bus (because 2 of their buses had pulled up) so we walked to the buses to ask the drivers if either was ours. A few minutes later the lady comes over to us yelling because she told us to wait over by her and kept yelling over me as I tried to explain that she disappeared and left us alone. She then tells us everyone else on the tour cancelled so it will be just us, get on the bus and sit where we want. We do. She also tells us that our pick up time is 2:30, so now our 4.5 hour tour is 3 hours, including transportation. Then the driver comes aboard to tell us he has another tour joining and we need to wait for them to board. That turned into a 30 minute delay. So now we have a 2.5 hour tour, including transportation. As the driver drops us off, he proceeds to tell us that our pick up time is now 2:15 and we need to be at the pick up spot by 2:00, so now our 4.5 hour tour is a 2 hour tour. I cannot recommend Junkanoo Beach Club enough but do yourself a favor and take a taxi there. Even if you pay for everything out of pocket once you get there, it will be a far better experience than booking with H. Forbes Charter Services!
Great drinks and food (I forgot to take a photo before digging into my food lol)! We had a great time and would go back again. We wanted to stay all day!
Food was good but ran out of some items. I should have picked the earliest time as the number of hours on the beach was limited
the staff kept the please very clean the food was delicious Everyone that work there was very nice and they had fun games
We visited Junkanoo several times during our week stay in Freeport. The food was excellent. I enjoyed the cracked conch. My husband had the lobster bites and they were good, but we both preferred the cracked conch. We enjoyed walking on the beach but bring shoes because there was a lot of broken glass even though the sign says no bottles. Beautiful views of the sunrise and sunset. They keep their area very clean. The security team and all the staff were great!
The beach was great! Staff and food were awesome. There was confusion over beverages - the print out we had from our confirmation says all beverages excluding top shelf - but you only get soda and Bahama mamas or rum punch - whatever it's called. It was the getting there and leaving part that was a problem. The transportation company had no record of our reservation. We showed them our confirmation so they contacted a van to send to the cruise port. We were 1/2 way to the beach and the driver got a call saying he had to turn around and pick up a group that booked thru Tripadvisor. So back to the port we go. Keep in mind the beach is 1/2 hour away. We picked up a family of 5 and headed to the beach. As soon as we pull up - the woman we picked up hated the beach on site and said she wasn't going to stay until 3:15 which we all agreed on. So we gave in and said we would leave at 2:30. At 2:15 we heard our names being called to board the bus. We gathered our things, went to the restroom - after all we DID agree on a 2:30 departure. We got to the parking lot at 2:22 and they left us! Yes - we were abandoned along with another couple. The beach club made arrangements for us to get back to port on time - but boy I was mad. That driver should NEVER have left us behind. So beach 5 stars - transportation 0 l'm not sure if this is a Viator issue or transportation issue. But the fact that they had no record of our reservations suggests the problem started w/ Viator.
Transportation was nice, beach was quiet, food was delicious, bahama mamas were flowing, and Tina was a great bartender. Make sure to ask her for her special Jolly Rancher shot!
This was the best day of my trip. When I got here first thing I was the only person so had my pick of loungers, walked the whole beach, found 2 conch shells, had amazing BBQ ribs and all the drinks I could handle. The staff was so nice. I highly recommend.
Had a wonderful day at Junkanoo Beach Club. They treated us very well and made sure we had a good time! The leaded Bahama Mamas are strong! Thank you for a great day!
The food was delicious and fresh. The staff were friendly and attentive. Everything was included. The music was great and the trip was overall relaxing. We really enjoyed ourselves and will return.
Great experience! Staff were kind, friendly, and generous. Food was delicious, drinks flowed, music was on point, and the beach was not crowded.
Just book it!!!!! Nice beach day, drinks, food and activities were great. Our best thing was no kids.
Our driver Andon was great! The people were also nice and very friendly making us feel welcomed. Our overall experience was wonderful; food was so good and plenty of it.
About 30 min by bus from cruise pier. Nice location, bathtub temp shallow water, plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas. DJ pumping out tunes by request. Full bar and food available. Decent Bahama Mama drinks. No surf, very easy water entrance. No need for water shoes. We saw bat rays and some fish close in to shore.
The beach was awesome. We had a great time. From pick up at the harbor to the return C T was a great host. Loved the food. The chicken and the ribs were fantastic. If I am ever back at Freeport on Grand Bahama, I would definitely bock again. We were treated like family.
The welcome was warm, ok. But the personnel of the restaurant, horrible. The food...no words, terrible. Terrible. The beach, ok.
You could only choose between two things for lunch. There wasn’t any dessert. No paddle surf or kayaks or something. The good thing was that we were alone.
Everything was perfect, from entry to exit. Don’t sleep on this excursion. It was really only a couple of people out there, but it was wonderful, especially if you have kids because we had the whole beach to ourselves.
Nice secluded spot with beautiful views and nice beach. We were on a shore excursion from the port with a small group and pretty much had the place to ourselves! The staff didn't seem prepared for our groups arrival but once that was all sorted out they were amazing; they even brought complimentary conch fritters to our table during lunch and they made sure the drinks kept coming. The food was good as well. We did notice that the facilities needed a bit of upkeep although the bathrooms were very clean.
Beach was nice. We saw schools of small fish. My daughter and her family found conch shells in the water. The “Mabel” floating pull ride was so rough. It was myself, my adult daughter and her two girls, 5 & 8. What I thought might be fun turned into two days so far of pain in my neck, back and arms. ( I feel like I have whiplash from a rear end car wreck.) We all had life jackets on, but the 5 year old and I wanted it to stop after the first whipping of the floating device. There were no waivers or signs suggesting it would be so rough. I was very upset and felt the driver of the jet ski was too young to be doing the driving and he never gave us a way to signal to him to stop. For $20 I have not been so sore. I missed my dinner last night and I am still trying to “fake it to make it” for the rest of my cruise. My son in law got cut on his foot. It was the size of a quarter. There were no people trained to cover wounds from the ocean or any calamities that could happen. No life guards but a chair to look over the beach with no one in it. IMO this place is not the place to do sporting stuff. They need better trained people. The waitress who took care of us was very nice and did her job well. I believe her name was Delores. Also, the bar ran out of mocktails for the kids and myself since I do not drink a lot of alcohol very much or often. I have had better beach experiences. Living near HB in CA for many years. This was beautiful water, nice to be in, but not my favorite trip. This place could really be something if some care was taken of the people coming there.
Very nice, but fish was not on the menu the day we visited which was a bummer. We were the only ones there and the beach was beautiful!!!! Fishing ofc the beach was very fun!!!!
The grounds are well kept with a clean beach front. Service was top tier. Food and drinks were delicious and delightful. The owner treated us like royalty. There are accessible clean washrooms and outdoor showers to rinse off, as needed. Games, watersports activities and entertainment is readily available. Such a great experience and time spent here. We look forward to returning and highly recommend others to experience this precious place in Bahamas. Shout out to kanoo (founding father puppy) of this lovely beach club lol.
All Inclusive with transportation, lunch, Bahama mama's , beautiful beach, private, and a nice place with friendly staff
Fabulous venue!!! The all you can eat and drink bahama mamas were fantastic. I loved that the beach had life but was not so over crowded that you wouldn’t enjoy it. The owner was absolutely delightful and so was his dog/co-owner Canoe. If you are looking for a relaxing day out with a parade to end the experience this is for you. Can’t give this enough stars.
Outstanding sandy beach, food was excellent and host CT was very engaging. We will return on our next trip to Freeport! Make sure you take a picture with the hole in the rock. Its like a secret little beach! John and Val
The best experience! The beach was beautiful, food was good, and drinks were even better! The owner, CT made sure we had a great time and I’m so thankful! Thanks again! We will be back
Support for cruise ship port. Very nice place, very clean. The food was excellent: the fish WoW! We were only 5 people on this beach. I recommend this excursion!
