The Alhambra, one of the best-preserved palaces of Al-Andalus, is a must-visit for history and architecture lovers. As Spain’s most breathtaking Moorish monument, it offers an unforgettable experience through Alhambra guided tours and Alhambra and Generalife tour packages. Secure your Alhambra skip-the-line tickets or join an Alhambra tour from Granada to explore its stunning Islamic architecture, lush gardens, and historic fortresses. For a deeper experience, consider an Alhambra tour with an official guide or an Alhambra private tour, ensuring exclusive insights into its rich past.
At the entrance to the Alhambra, admire the Horseshoe Arch alongside the Christian coat of arms, a powerful symbol of the transition from Moorish rule to the Spanish conquest of 1492. A key highlight on any Alhambra guided tour, this historic gateway marks the fusion of Islamic and Spanish heritage within the Alhambra complex. Secure your Alhambra skip-the-line tickets or join an Alhambra tour with an official guide to uncover the fascinating stories behind this architectural masterpiece.
The Puerta del Vino, a stunning horseshoe-arched gate within the Alhambra complex, once served as an entrance to the royal Nasrid palaces. Some believe its name comes from its historical role in wine trade, while others suggest it refers to its rich decorative colors. A key stop on any Alhambra guided tour, this architectural gem offers visitors a glimpse into the Nasrid dynasty’s artistic heritage. Book an Alhambra skip-the-line tour or an Alhambra private tour to explore its intricate details up close as part of your Alhambra and Generalife tour package.
This expansive esplanade sits above the Alhambra’s ancient water reservoirs (“aljibes”), offering panoramic views of the Albaicín and Sacromonte neighborhoods. Whether booked as part of an Alhambra tour from Granada or an Alhambra skip-the-line tour, this breathtaking viewpoint captures the essence of Granada’s rich cultural heritage.
The Alcazaba, the oldest and most fortified part of the Alhambra, once served as a military stronghold protecting the Nasrid dynasty. Visitors can climb the iconic Torre de la Vela (Watchtower) for panoramic 360° views of Granada, offering a breathtaking perspective of the city and the Alhambra complex. Every January 2nd, the tower’s historic bell rings to commemorate the Catholic Monarchs’ conquest of Granada, marking a pivotal moment in Spain’s history. A must-visit on any Alhambra guided tour, the Alcazaba’s defensive walls and watchtowers stand as a testament to the region’s rich past.
A striking contrast to the Moorish architecture of the Alhambra, the Palace of Charles V is a 16th-century Renaissance masterpiece commissioned by Emperor Charles V to symbolize Spanish dominance. Its grand circular courtyard, considered one of Spain’s finest Renaissance designs, stands as a unique architectural feature within the Alhambra complex. A highlight of any Alhambra guided tour, this imposing structure blends history, power, and artistry in the heart of Granada.
A charming pergola leads to a spacious esplanade on the lower terrace of the Partal, offering stunning views of the Alhambra’s Moorish architecture. To the left stands the iconic Partal Palace portico, the architectural feature that gives this area its name. As one of the oldest Nasrid-era structures within the Alhambra complex, it showcases intricate archways and serene reflective pools, making it a must-visit on any Alhambra guided tour.
hidden gem within the Alhambra, the Torre de la Cautiva is one of the most richly decorated residential towers, featuring exquisite Islamic stucco and intricate tilework. A must-see on any Alhambra guided tour, it offers a glimpse into the artistic brilliance of Moorish design and the historical intrigue of Al-Andalus.

Featuring flowing fountains, lush greenery, and intricate Moorish archways, this serene paradise offers a glimpse into the Nasrid dynasty’s architectural brilliance. A must-visit on any Alhambra guided tour, it showcases the harmony of Islamic garden design and Granada’s historic charm.
This Nasrid-era stairway in the Generalife Gardens is a hidden gem of the Alhambra complex, featuring flowing water channels carved into the stone handrails. Designed to cool the air and enhance the visitor experience, the gentle sound of trickling water creates a serene oasis within the historic Alhambra and Generalife. Very good guide, clear explanation and experience! We did it all with our baby in a carrier.
Overall a very good tour with a very knowledgeable tour guide Ishmael. It starts outside of the Alhambra but provides great information in the walk up to the entrance. It is expensive for not including the palaces though.
Our guide Lautaro was excellent! He took us and a small group around the old town cobbled streets, providing history and local information. We absolutely loved the tour with him, he was very informative, friendly and helpful. He also helped us book a Flamenco show for after the tour - which was also amazing! Thanks LT 🙌🏻
We had a private tour with Sandra who was excellent. She was incredibly knowledgeable and her enthusiasm for both Grenada and the Alhambra was really plain to see
It was an amazing experience! The guide was awesome and the views were beautiful.
Great experiente and nice speech!!!
Sandra was very informative and enthusiastic- an excellent guide.
Long tour but great information.. Sandra was very fun. I would not bring little ones or impatient ones but if you want to really learn about the place this is a great option.
Sandra was excellent! Fabulous!
Sandra is the best guide. She is very knowledgeable and funny.
Very informative Sandra was perfect!!!!
Sandra (the tour guide )was great with lots of information
The visit was very interesting and complete. Sandra is very knowledgable, helpful and nice.
We bought this tour mainly to have the opportunity to visit the Palacios Nazaries, the most famous part of the Alhambra. With this tour, we have visited the Alcazaba, the gardens and the Generalife, but not the Palacios Nazaries. So we were very disappointed. When I asked the guide whether we could visit the Palacios Nazaries, she told me it was impossible, due to the August earthquake. I realized later that this answer was obviously wrong. The fact that the Palacios Nazaries is not included in the tour is very well hidden on the website. So buy this tour only if it is not a problem for you NOT TO VISIT THE NAZARIES PALACIOS.
The tour was excellent and the guide Esther was superb. The only thing - it is a bit too long (3 hours), but I guess it can't be helped - the Alhambra and the gardens are massive. Tip: The pass which comes with the tour is valid for the whole day (you can get in and out as you wish after the tour), so I suggest if you have time, stay with the guide for the historical first part (Alhambra) in the morning as there is a lot of info you can get from the guide, then take a lunch break and come back to enjoy the garden part (Generalife) in the afternoon by yourself. Enjoy.
We had a wonderful experience! Sandra was knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the history of the Alhambra. The tour was very well organized and made our visit truly special. Highly recommended!
It was nice guided tour of Alhambra very intelligently delivered.
We have the best and amazing guide Sandra, we feel that we could have missed so much if we didn’t take this guided tour!
It is a great experience and we enjoyed it very much…. It does not include the Nazarines palaces, but at 33 hours long we had a great tour… The Alhambra is massive and it would be hard to see it all in a visit…. Guide was great…. Very good and informative.
Our guide Sandra was great. We had a small group of 4 enthusiastic visitors which made it particularly enjoyable.
Ishmael was very knowledgeable, answered lots of questions & allowed time to take photos
Brilliant. Easy booking. Good communication. Great visit. Informative guide.
Be well rested, well fed and wear comfortable shoes. This was an experience of a life time. Our guide was a young historian. She gave us so much wonderful information about the history Alhambra from its very beginning, its construction and total history. I so enjoyed this excursion and it is a lot of walking and the place was packed. The history is just amazing. I have so much to learn still about this beautiful place. It has really piqued my interest and curiosity. You will not regret it.
Very knowledgeable and organized tour guide. The tour did require a lot of uphill walking. The Alhambra areas were beautiful.
Well paced 3 hour guide. Very easy & saw all the major sights with time for breaks & pictures. Ismail was a knowledgeable & friendly guide
We were in a group of 23 people and our guide, Ismael, did a wonderful job of keeping us all together and moving along through the difficult terrain. His English was easy enough to understand and he was very knowledgeable and wide open to questions.
I had a medical emergency on the day of my tour and asked for another date and was denied- horrible customer support philosophy- I was actually in a hospital and tour group showed no compassion
We had a fabulous, well informed and interesting tour guide in Ishmael. He kept us informed about the Alhambra, telling us a lot of history. The pace was perfect for a mixed age group. Highly recommend this tour and guide.
Amazing experience, highly informative and exceptionally helpful. A different experience with the guide Sandra.
Amazing tour guide, wish we had better confirmation that our trip advisor ticket was not the actually ticket and had to go back down to get the actual ticket
Sandra was an excellent guide. Shame that the Nastrid Palace was closed to the tour. The tour was crazy expensive. I hope the guides get a good chunk of the fee. 23 people on the tour.
Amazing experience, very well explained. Get our tour guide Sandra.
Sandra our guide was wonderful!!!
Sandra was absolutely Amazing! She shared so much information and she was fun and engaging 😊. I highly recommend her!
We had an amazing time and our tour guide was wonderful. The history that was shared by our tour guide was great.
It's a good 15 to 20 minute walk uphill to the palace from the start of the tour, so physically challenging.
Awful afwul awful! Do not book through Viator for the Alambra! They had our date wrong and 3 other families. We were part of a group and we were embarrassed and disappointed that we couldn’t go through because they had our date wrong on the ticket, although they reminded us the morning of…the person at the office was extremely rude and put the phone down in my ear, said we must walk all the way back to just hear we were refunded but never received our refund. We went all the way to Grenada to experience the Alambra, what a total waste..! Thanks to Viator!!!
The local vendor cancelled our guide because too few people signed up. Then the local vendor offered to email us our tickets, but only after I left them a good review on trip advisor.
Great experience. Sandra was very knowledgeable and it was nice that she gave a few minutes at each spot to take photos.
Everyone in my group had trouble hearing the guide. It was all static and lulls in sound. I did not find the delivery or content very engaging. Asking us questions and waiting awkwardly for us to come up with the answers. I’m taking a tour because I don’t know and I want to learn. For some reason the guide took us to a small gift shop to use the bathrooms. Two stalls for a group of thirty? Meanwhile the museum bathrooms right next door had 20 stalls and no line. It’s the type of thing that makes me wonder if they get some sort of kickback for forcing us to visit the gift shop.
Well paced, gentle breaks and a wonderful guide who infused history, anecdotes & humor. Lots of opportunities to ask questions.
Our guide, Sandy, did a great job in pacing her tour and in taking us through this UNESCO World Heritage Site’s multilayered history!
Sandra was a great tour guide. A beautifully set up tour. Would highly recommend. Very informative and fun. Wasn't too busy.
We had our tour booked for Monday 21st sept at 10am, I was contacted 2 days before advising me the tour was not available and could I go the following day.I had another tour booked but lucky i was able to change this. Not ideal if your not in Granada and can't change your plans to suit the company.I read after this company can cancel last minute if they cannot secure tickets..I don't think I would risk it and book with them again since the tickets are not gauranteed. It was stressful. Sandra , the guide was very friendly and helpful. It was not her fault.
Our experience with this tour was quite disappointing, mainly because of the lack of clear information regarding the meeting point and accessibility. At no point during the booking process was it clearly explained that the tour meeting point is NOT accessible by car from the Alhambra parking area. The official parking lot and the meeting point are more than 2 km apart, and driving between the two can take approximately 30 minutes. Walking is not a practical alternative, particularly when you do not yet have the tickets required to access certain areas of the Alhambra. We arrived at the parking area with enough time, assuming we would be able to access the meeting point from there. Once we realized this was not possible, we tried contacting the tour operator approximately 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to ask for assistance or instructions. Unfortunately, we received no response until after the tour had already started. The operator did eventually provide us with our entrance tickets and an audio guide, which we appreciated. However, we missed the opportunity to participate in the tour as planned because of a logistical issue that could easily have been prevented by providing clear parking and meeting-point instructions beforehand. Additionally, the Alcazaba was closed during our visit due to earthquake-related restrictions. We completely understand that this closure was outside the tour operator’s control, but it would have been helpful to receive advance notice, particularly since the Alcazaba is an important part of the Alhambra experience. It is also VERY IMPORTANT for anyone considering this tour to know that it DOES NOT INCLUDE ACCESS TO THE NASRID PALACES, one of the most significant and impressive parts of the Alhambra. If visiting the Nasrid Palaces is important to you, make sure you specifically book tickets that include them in advance. My main recommendation to the tour operator would be to significantly improve the information provided before the tour, particularly regarding car access, parking, and the distance to the meeting point. A simple warning explaining that visitors should not drive directly to the Alhambra parking area when trying to reach the tour meeting point would have prevented the entire situation.
The experience is not run by Viator, rather by a local partner which they don't have control over. The instructions received we're in Spanish with unproperly translated instructions in English. I traveled with my wife and my parents who are seniors. The expectation of the tour operator was for everybody to meet the center of the city and then walk up an enormous amount of hills in order to get to the Alhambra. We were waiting for them at the Alhambra and they told us that he had to go down to their office in the downtown area to validate our tickets and then we had to leave with the tour. They were very inflexible in terms of understanding that my parents can I just saunter down a hill and then climb back up. And although they met me Middle Ground allowing me to bring their IDs down, if they didn't join the tour at the downtown office, they would miss the tour and it was a company policy to not allow us to join their tour at the gates of the Alhambra. Considering that the access to the Alhambra is 15€, they're inflexibility for a 73€ tour, it was completely unacceptable. It also didn't want to release our tickets unless we paid them for a 10€ per person guided audio tour which we would put on our cell phone. The reason was because their company policy apparently doesn't allow us to go without a tour. When we contacted Viator, decided with the tour operator and not only did not issue a refund, they also told us it was our fault. Overall, this tour is not worth it because it's not accessible and does not take into consideration elderly and the inflexibility of viator and the tour operator makes me uncapable of recommending this tour or the company to anybody.
It was a nice experience cause we had a nice tour guide, Her name is Sandra - She gave us a smooth context - We felt it was so quick in the actual monument of Alhambra and Generalife - We felt like we needed more time to watch and take photos - Nasrid was really missed in this trip. So next time we are booking our ticket before our flights LOL
