We had a great time. Enjoyed the sight from high elevation and went to the ski resort where we enjoyed time sleigh riding and snowtubing. We had a great tour guide that personalized our trip. Also got some souvenirs from one of the small shops. It’s an experience you don’t want to miss and just a short trip from Granada. Great for kids and families.
The guide had a lot knowledge of the mountain and surrounding area. The tour was adapted to our request as we were the only two persons at the tour. The guide came with nice alternatives and suggestions to fit our interests in the beginning of the tour. We can really recommend it. Fantastic views over the mountain.
Carlos was a great guide. He was knowledgeable about the history of the area and knew the local trails well. The hike was challenging at times, gaining an altitude of almost 1000 m
Fantastic trip to Granada from Roquetas de Mar with super knowledgeable driver/guide (Christian). Cost was 79 euros, worth every cent. The journey takes about 2 hours via Sierra Nevada with a short comfort/coffee break. Air-conditioned mini bus, all english commentary. We spent the morning at the Alhambra & got to see Nasrid places, alcazaba, Charles V Palace & Generalife gardens. Jet2 did a similar trip from our hotel but the Sunday trip had been cancelled due to low numbers and the Thursday trip wasn't guaranteed for same reason (that was 80 euros & didn't include as much. Then in the afternoon we were dropped in Granada city centre to explore for 2 hours. It would be a difficult trip for anyone with mobility issues but probably the best day trip I've ever done
This is a great day out of the city! You’ll learn so much about the area; including the geography, culture, agriculture, etc. and get some excellent exercise with impressive views of the mountains all around you. Our driver was Josè and he was extremely friendly, fun and informative. He doesn’t rush you, and always makes sure you’re comfortable and happy. On top of it all, we ate lunch at a beautiful restaurant that we never would have gone to without this trip and Jose. Be sure to follow their advice on what to bring and you’ll love your time on this tour!
What an amazing hike. Jose, a.k.a., the goat, was a fantastic guide. We were the only two that showed up so it was a private tour. We had a blast and walked all the way to the top. Definitely dress in layers and bring sunscreen. Amazing views. Stopped at a fantastic restaurant at the bottom of the hill on the river, extremely authentic Spanish, food, and plenty of sangria.
Had a fantastic day trip to Sierra Nevada with the knowledgeable Jose. What a beautiful place to visit in summer when there are few people around. Thanks Jose!
Sierra Nevada is an absolute must if you visit Granada and like mountains. Breathtaking views, unforgettable memories, warm-hearted people and unique diversity in scenery and weather. Special thanks to Mr. Jose Bolivar, who made this tour very special to us!
For the amount of money that was charged per person ($128/person), this was a rather disappointing experience. We purchased expecting to be able to hike to high altitudes to see snow, the lagoons, close views of the mountain etc. But what we got was a 2.5 hr hike through one of the local trails (with a far view of the mountain) and then lunch (not included in fee) and , after a long drive to the highest accessible point by car. The tour guide was great. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and made sure everyone in the group felt included. I could tell he is passionate about his work. That’s why it’s 3/5 stars instead of a lower rating. A disclaimer needs to be made somewhere that the experience may not be as advertised in the description and each tour will be different. Plus the pictures in the description are not a guarantee of what you will see. Not sure I’d book with this company again, but would consider other experiences with the guide if he has different tours.
It is a worthwhile tour to make. Great scenery especially since it had snowed right before our tour. Just make sure to wear proper attire (check weather) and know that you will be walking up hill in rocky terrain. It was just breathtaking. The tour guide was knowledgeable and very eager to make sure all were pleased with the experience. Must eat at Restaurante Maitena while you are there.
We booked a tour into the Sierra Nevada starting from Granada. Carlos our tour guide and driver prepared a very beautiful custom tour for us. He showed us amazing viewpoints, we did some hikes through the awesome scenery of the the sierra and talked about geology and history. It was super interesting and entertaining. That would normally the end of the review...but I forgot my glasses in Carlos' car and had a super tight time window for my departure from the airport. When I realised that I was already in the taxi to the airport...I contacted Discovering Spain by Whatsapp. The website of Discovering Spain told me 'closed on the afternoon'. But a friendly team member read my message, answered and called Carlos. Carlos whatsapped me he could be at the airport in 20min - 5min to my boarding. We met at the security (I was already screened) and I had my glasses back. Awesome reaction and awesome service by Discovering Spain and the man of the day Carlos. Thank you!
Fantastic day in the high mountains with Carlos our guide. Carlos has so much knowledge of the area and tailored the walk to the group's preference. We headed away from the more crowded areas to a secluded valley and didn't see anyone else apart from goats (with their sheep dog) and horses for a couple of hours. It was a memorable day for our small group.
I am delighted with the unknown beauty of Sierra Nevada! It is an impressive landscape and the team from Discovering Spain made it so convenient and pleasant for exploring. I had the chance to understand the history and geography of the different mountains, together with an enthusiastic tour guide and very a nice crew. I would like to do it again.
Wonderful trip. not easy hiking but very worth while. And we ended up having a great meal at the top of the mountain. Bring your You're hiking boots and jacket
I followed a cultural trip to the Alhambra with this nature trip which was a great choice - beautiful (gentle) walk in the snow for beautiful views, great guide focussing on authentic local encounters and exchange - only downside that it was too early for spring blossoms, the views along the scenic drive when fields of cherry trees are in bloom must be out of this world
It was a great day out exploring the mountains, doing some relatively light hiking, and eating a (well-deserved) local meal. Highly recommended!
Excursion to Sierra Nevada with Jose Bolivar as our taxi driver and guide. Superb experience. Good weather. Rich food. All perfect. Jose Bolivar a discovery, professional as a pine top, extraordinary person, an educated and cultured uncle, masters languages, funny, kind... Jose, you're a freak, really. Thank you very much. It will be unforgettable.
Information, accompaniment and experience of 10. So it's worth traveling. A passionate guide for his work who took care of the group at all times. Thank you.
The excursion is interesting as well as beautiful. As for the guide, he was very friendly and attentive from minute one. It went very well. I would repeat with them.
I very much want to walk without haste listening to the explanations and curiosities of the guide, in our case, Carlos.
Our guide José was waiting for us in time at the meeting point to take us on a fantastic tour of the Sierra Nevada. When you reach the highest point An incredible landscape that leaves you breathless, especially if you don’t know the snow and a hike to meet The Virgin of the Snows, then warm up on a terrace with a delicious chocolate. On the way down we enjoy the flora and fauna of the region, and then visit the vestiges of an ancient civilization. The guide has an innate talent, is an excellent host and also knows and knows everything and more.
We had a spectacular time, an unforgettable day. The guide Rafa, great sharing his knowledge and some joy in their conversations. We took along the Duke's path some stunning landscapes, see the landscapes of what was the great road or was supposed to pass and reach the snow virgin 2,700 m above sea level and see one of the highest peaks in pomegranate the weather vane, stunning, spectacular views and personalized treatment. From punctuality at the stipulated time to safety during the tour.
