Its name, meaning "The Red One" in Arabic, refers to the reddish color of the walls surrounding the citadel. The Generalife is a charming palace and garden complex located on the hill opposite the Alhambra, in Granada, Spain. This place, believed to have been used by the Nasrid monarchs as a summer retreat, is a jewel of Islamic architecture and landscape design.
The Nasrid Palaces are a central and exquisite part of the Alhambra, notable for its intricate Islamic architecture and rich decoration. These palaces were the residence of the Nasrid monarchs, the dynasty that ruled the Kingdom of Granada from the 13th to the end of the 15th century, when the Catholic Kings conquered the city.
The Alcazaba is the oldest military fortress in the Alhambra and is located at its highest point, dominating the rocky hill that forms the core of the citadel. Built in the 13th century during the reign of Muhammad I, the Alcazaba served as a royal residence and defensive fortress for the Nasrid monarchs.

Alhambra is amazing. Full of history and amazing sights to see. I strongly recommend using a guide. You will miss out on many amazing facts. We had the best experience with Alberto. He helped us dive into Alhambra and the three hours tour was perfect.

We had a great 3 hours private tour with Andazari Tours, with Husein as our guide. Our group consists of 7 people including my parents, both in their 70's, and Husein was very considerate and accomodating. Husein's knowledge of Alhambra is also very rich & deep, that we gladly learned while enjoying the views. I'd recommend this tour for everyone!
