This was a very thorough and interesting look at the Alhambra. I was very excited to visit this site and our guide Victoria took great care of us. She had great explanations of the historical facts and also told us many interesting anecdotes. Victoria led us efficiently along the visit route; as well she would also pause at places with a particularly lovely view for photo ops. I enjoyed this tour of the fascinating Alhambra very much.

Reviews
Victoria, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the Alhambra. She took time to explain the many layered aspects of the history and architecture, leading us to areas where not all of the tours went and helping us navigate the crowds. She answered all of our questions enthusiastically and was delightful to spend the morning with.
Jana is knowledgeable, kind-hearted, and knows the area exceptionally well. She knows all the secrets of the place and every little detail, even the ones you might easily miss. She knows it so well that even the local cats recognise her and come straight to her for treats and a little affection! 😊 Regards, Dina
Celia was a delightful tour guide. She clearly knew and loved el Alhambra and its history. In spite of the heavy rains, Celia made the visit informative and fun. What a beautiful place and experience!
Cristina was a wonderful freelance guide. Friendly and personable and so knowledgeable about Granada and the Alhambra. Really got the local experience. Two stars for value only because our (last-minute) booking was over 10x normal admission price (~$210 per ticket). Doesn't feel fair to price-gouge like that.
What a beautiful place! Our guide, Borja, was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and had a good sense of humor.
The tour was absolutely excellent and very informative. Our guide, Jana, led the tour in a highly informative, engaging, and professional manner. One thing i particularly appreciated was : Despite the crowds, Jana always managed to find excellent spots for us, allowing us to take photos comfortably without being disturbed by other visitors. Many thanks to Jana for making the experience so enjoyable and memorable. Highly recommended!
We took a family tour with Celia. It was a wonderful tour with her. She was very patient and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed it.
We had an unforgettable esperience thank to Jana.
Very thorough tour. Excellent talks and descriptions. Very friendly. Highly recommended.
Juan was a friendly and patient guide who went out of his way to make sure iur family visit was memorable. Thank you Juan!
The tour with Borja was amazing and he was so professional and the information, history and stories were great... 😃
We booked through GetYourGuide. Communication up front was good: reminders a few days in advance and clear instructions where to meet. We met our guide Celia at the entrance and she provided us with our tickets. Note: the tickets carry your name so make sure to have your passport or ID with you. Tour started on time and Celia very aptly navigated the crowds while telling us about the history of Alhambra. Showed us lots of details that we otherwise would have missed. Very friendly lady. Made sure - halfway into the tour - to include a small bathroom / coffee break. Good time management: showed al the main sights in little over 3 hours and left us with some good suggestions, f.e. to visit the museum (free admittance, contains some beautiful pottery, coins, furniture, woodwork etc). Glad we decided for the guided tour; although (significantly) more expensive than just buying tickets, well worth the money. Highly recommended!
Our Guide Celia iş a very kind and helpfull, we had a great time and everything is perfect. Thank u for your guidance and help..
We don't normally use group guides, but this was the only way to make a late booking for Alhambra tickets - and it was very expensive. However it turned out that Dara was a great guide. She was very informative, fun and showed us things we might not have seen otherwise, and that I haven't seen on the previous times I've visited this unbelievably beautiful place. She works at the university and is involved with historical research of the site.
We went on a group tour with Dara which was fantastic. Her knowledge of Alhambra & Nasrid Palace was impressive. We had a great time.
It was great to have such a knowledgeable guide to take us through these amazing sites. Cristina’s command of the English language and the history of the sites was excellent. The only suggestion for improvement is to be more clear about the meeting place for the start of the tour. The gathering area there is quite large and confusing.
You can spend many hours here! Don't miss all of the gardens and all of the buildings and palaces. It's absolutely beautiful and if you get a good guide they can even read some of the Arabic inscriptions for you!
Our guide Jana knows everything there is to know about the Alhambra. Although we had done some homework about the history of Granada and the Alhambra, we would never have learned so much if we had visited the place by ourselves. Jana knows a lot about art history and pointed out interesting details to us. Moreover, she is funny! Thank you Jana, hope to see you some other time for another tour in Granada. Greetings from Monique and Ben (The Netherlands)
Was a very lovely experience. Our guide, Antonio, was patient, thoughtful and made sure we all had a great time while also ensuring that we understood the history.
I had an excellent experience visiting Alhumbra with a local tour guide, that was the best part of the experience. Cristina was very informative and you can realise from the first moment how much she loves her work and loves the place, that was the energy transferred to Us through the tour. Highly Highly recommend experience.
Dara was a very experienced guide who is very good in story telling. The Alhambra came back alive. We learned a lot and it was very beautiful. Price was bizar high, but worth it compared to it we had to come back to Spain for.
The worst experience I ever had in a trip in my hole life. We bought 3 very expensive tickets to visit Alhambra with the Passepartours agency. They cancelled our schedule in the last moment and we lost the tickets. After I found out the tickets costs 20 euros and resell to us for 10x the price. They are nothing but thieves with no compromisse with tge clients. Run away!
Paula was a fantastic guide and explained the history of Alhambra very clearly. She was also very cognizant of our 3 children and paced the tour well.
Overall was a great tour. A lot of walking but gardens were beautiful and Nasrid palace was stunning. Zahara was very knowledgeable and thoughtful throughout tour and told us a lot about the different time periods and especially liked one of the Alhambras tales she told us about the prince who was locked in a tower by his father only to later escape and marry a Castile princess. The only thing needing improvement is maybe finding the guide initially maybe having a flag or marker with guide your name would make it much easier.tour was a total of 2.5-3 hrs
Excelent! Borja our tour guide was amazing! Felt like reading a history book. Higly recommended!! 😊😊
Wear hiking shoes and leave your backpack in one of the lockers. You go up and down a lot of stairs but worth it
Our guide, Manuel, impressed us with many behind-the-scene details which you wouldn't find in any travel guide.
I booked this Granada Alhambra tour specifically because access to the Nasrid Palaces was included, as it is one of the main highlights of visiting the Alhambra. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I discovered that my entry to the Nasrid Palaces had been misbooked, and I was unable to visit them as planned. The others in the group we’re allocate their tickets. This was extremely disappointing, especially considering that tickets are tightly controlled and the Nasrid Palaces are a major reason many travelers book this tour. While the guide did their best with the circumstances, the booking error significantly impacted my experience and left me feeling that I did not receive what was advertised. For a premier attraction such as the Alhambra, accurate ticket management is essential. I would encourage Viator and the tour operator to improve their booking verification process to ensure future visitors do not miss out on such an important part of the site. Unfortunately, because of this error, I cannot recommend this tour and perhaps, not use Viator in the future.
Visiting the Alhambra is like stepping directly into a living fairytale. Perched high above Granada with the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains as a backdrop, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is undoubtedly one of the most awe-inspiring places in Europe. 🏛️ The Highlights The Nasrid Palaces: The sheer level of craftsmanship here leaves you speechless. The intricate stucco work, carved wooden ceilings, delicate arches, and iconic Courtyard of the Lions showcase Islamic architecture at its absolute finest. Every corner tells a story. Generalife Gardens: A paradise of flowing water, vibrant flowerbeds, cypress avenues, and peaceful fountains. Walking along the Water Staircase surrounded by lush greenery is an unforgettable sensory experienc.
Antonio was a wonderful guide. The tour was the perfect length and the small group allowed us to be nimble in a crowded place.
Jean Claude (JC) was so knowledgeable having studied history. He made the information fun and relatable with movie references throughout which made us laugh. Incredible experience!
Our tour increased from £40 each to £174 each price! Booked in March, cancelled, unbeknown to us, until we were due to collect tickets the week before we left for our holiday. However, our guide was excellent and we did enjoy the tour. I wouldn't book through Viator again.
Amazing and beautiful place. Our tour guide Victoria was exceptional, she spoke clearly and her knowledge was exceptional. It is a busy place but didn't feel overwhelmed with people, a must place to visit.
Ye the trip itself was beyond my imagination. Because I booked only a few days before the tour date, it was $225 for the ticket. It was a bit misleading as on Viator site it was showing it as $56 (it would have been 200% with it) then when you about to check out the price would go up. Angie the tour itself was worth while. Antonio was an expert at leading the group with wealth of information. Even offered to take pictures for us. Got great eye for composition. Finding the group was challenging when I got there at 4:10pm but 4:30pm group. No sign for Viator. Had to ask multiple people to find mine. Would be helpful if there is a sign displayed.
My husband and I had a wonderful few hours touring Alhambra with our guide Paula. Paula is very knowledgeable with Islamic history and culture. Her tour was very informative, with a relaxing pace. We had a small group which gave us the opportunity to ask many questions and take many photos along the way.
My first tour actually got cancelled but the people tried to make it right. I ended up getting a second tour booked and it turned out I was the only guest. Zahara was my tour guide and I absolutely loved that it felt like I had a private tour! I was able to get so much more out of it. She was engaging and understanding of when I was getting tired from walking stairs and hills. She was not only informative but very personable. I feel like I started with a tour guide but left with a friend. Highly recommend her.
Jana was an informative and fun guide! We had a fantastic time learning about the history of the Alhambra! One of the best guides we’ve had in our travels!
Jana was our tour guide, we almost didn’t book due to single tickets sold by the Alhambra being sold out - thankfully my partner booked this tour, even though it seemed a little expensive at the time. In actuality the value was there. It was so nice to be in a small guided group and to also be able to skip the lines because of our group. Jana is a wealth of knowledge, upbeat, and kind. The tour was 3 hours and honestly it flew by, I would recommend booking a small group tour, that allowed you to see every possible key section of the Alhambra that is open. We appreciated how cognizant Jana was not only of our time, but the other tour groups as well - she was patient, yet firm and kind when other groups were taking too long (especially in the really special areas) she would move us to the side as we entered a room, educate us, then tell us we’re going to give space for a few minutes - if the other tour group wasn’t moving along after a length of time she would talk to their guide which would then get the crowds moving. Because it is such a special place - you do want to spend hours basking in the craftsmanship and history - however it’s not fair to other groups and Jana seemed to grasp this concept. Slowing down and giving us 2 minutes or so to take photos and then we were moving along. The Alhambra itself is impressive, stunning and absolutely worth a visit if in Granada. On thing to note, even though guides, signage, and staff tell you not to touch walls, plants, etc. there are still people who can’t seem to help themselves - if you read this review, don’t be that person who touches the ancient walls that they’re trying to protect and the plants in the garden and landscaping, this place sees thousands of visitors daily - let’s all help be good stewards. Highly recommend booking Jana’s tour, but at the very least going to the Alhambra itself.
We enjoyed our tour with the excellent guidance from Paula, she is professional, very informative, bilingual. Thanks a lot, I recommend to go with them.
Zahara.. very polite, very courteous, friendly, and patient
Loved the experience. Booking was easy, good communication. Our guide Cristina was punctual and attentive. Her English was perfect. Cristina’s direction and historical summaries were both entertaining and educational. She was kind and patient. She answered everyone’s questions, stopping for timed breaks and weaving in photo opps and took great pictures. Cristina navigated us around other tours, calmly without a flinch. Thank you, Cristina, for bringing your love of Granada, its history, and the romance of Alhambra to life. I’d book this again and ask for Cristina.
Christina was an amazingg guide! Very knowledgable and gave great recommendations. Loved touring the Alahambra with her
Cristina was a wonderful guide. Appropriately managed our whole group who had diverse needs (older, weaker. people with buggies etc..) Tour was interesting and she was very well informed. Would highly recommend! Many thanks Cristina!
Take a taxi or uber - too difficult to walk there. You have to show your passport or ID 4 times during the tour so don’t forget it. Jana was wonderful as a guide!
Our tour guide, Jaime, took great care of us. He made sure each person had a nice experience, was comfortable, and enjoyed the history and information he was sharing. We ended up with a tour of only 3 people so it felt like a very personal experience. This was a wonderful tour and I highly recommend the extra cost to have such a personalized tour! I booked only a week or two out and was very nervous. They updated our entrance time the day before the tour to an hour earlier start for entrance into Nasrid Palaces. All information was provided and was very easy to follow.
Celia was a masterful guide, full of history knowledge. She was very amicable and accommodating. We learned a lot from her, and her patience helped us well. Please ask for her as your guide. You won't be disappointed. Thank you Celia.
Jamie was very knowledgeable and made the history of Alhambra a great experience. Highly recommend not skipping the palaces, they were the highlight of the visit
Wonderful experience with Dara as our tour guide, who skillfully adjusted the tour to two teenagers :)
The tour was amazing and Borja was brilliant. A lot of interesting details and historical information about Alhambra. Best guide ever and we've had a few! Money very well spent! Thank you
