Itinerary
Meet your guide at Plaza Nueva, a lively meeting point nestled between the historic Albaicín and the Alhambra. Surrounded by elegant buildings and bustling cafés, it’s the perfect place to start exploring the city.
This iconic square features a striking monument of Queen Isabella and Christopher Columbus, symbolizing the moment she agreed to fund his voyage to the Americas. It’s a key site that links Granada’s Christian and exploration history.
A beautifully preserved 14th-century Moorish building, originally used as an inn and warehouse for merchants. Today, it offers a glimpse into Granada’s Nasrid past and hosts cultural events and artisan shops.
Once the silk market during Moorish times, the Alcaicería is now a maze of narrow alleys filled with colorful shops selling crafts, souvenirs, and local goods. It’s a charming place to experience Granada’s Arabic heritage.
Built over a former mosque, this grand Renaissance cathedral reflects Spain’s transition from Moorish to Christian rule. Its majestic interior and unique architecture make it one of the most impressive in the country.
Adjacent to the cathedral, this chapel is the final resting place of the Catholic Monarchs, Isabella I and Ferdinand II. The elaborate Gothic structure and their ornate tombs offer deep insight into Spain’s royal history.
A short introduction to the city’s oldest neighborhood, the Albaicín is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its narrow cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses, and stunning views of the Alhambra. It’s a captivating blend of Moorish charm and Andalusian tradition.

We had a great tour of the city with Fina. Coming from a cruise ship, I had procrastinated and wasn’t able to get tickets to the Alhambra. Instead of trying to learn about Granada, I booked this tour instead. Wow - I had no idea of the Islamic history of Spain but now all of the geometric tile work I’ve seen in other places make sense. Fina was enthusiastic, easy to understand, and walked at a pace that worked for the entire group. I would highly recommend this tour.
Marta’s tour was really interesting. Her stories are great. We enjoyed it.
Alberto was a very engaging, knowledgeable, and friendly guide. I would definitely recommend this to my friends!
Fantastic tour with Alberto. So informative and the time flew. Would highly recommend.
Ruben spoke very good English. He seemed very knowledgeable, answering all questions, even those not directly related to the tour. He had a good sense of humour.
I was skeptical when I read that this was basically a free tour, but if the tour was good, you should tip. We signed up because the reviews were good and now I know why. We had a great walk around Granada with Fina who was a very good guide. She covered the itinerary and shared a lot of history and stories about Granada. She was also good about taking time to answer questions and providing recommendations about where to go and what to see as well as which restaurants were good. We would recommend this tour, and dont be a cheapskate. I know some people just walk away without tipping and that is wrong! Tip your guide generously!
Ruben was our guide today, and we thoroughly enjoyed the tour. He was extremely knowledgeable about both the history of Granada and where to eat and what to see in present day Granada. I highly recommend joining Rubens tour of Granada.
We started with the tour. It says in the advert - more than 9 people on the group is not allowed! How about 30 plus? Navigating though narrow streets during national holiday is a joke. We dropped off in 10 minutes. Lorena seems to be a nice person but she should have broken the group at least in half and find another guide. I would not recommend this experience.
Really good tour. Lots to see and the guide was very good. Highly recommend this tour. Well paced and was given advice on how to enter other monuments for other days.
Really good couple of hours walking learning about Spains in particular Granadas history.Lorena our guide was great with an amazing amount of knowledge highly recommended
Ruben lead us on a great tour through the city of Granada. He was knowledgeable and funny, making for a very enjoyable experience! If you are interested in the history of Granada, this is a very worthwhile experience!
A great introduction to Granada. Lorena was very knowledgeable and kept a good pace - not too fast or slow. We learned a lot.
The tour was quite short w.r.t. distance travelled, which was good considering the heat. Our guide gave us a lot of history about Granada. In our opinion rather too much as he “lost his audience “ on several occasions.
Our guide Rocio was very knowledgeable, made the tour interesting, injecting humour into her talks. Very central meeting point and well-organised.
Great experience with Nacho as our guide.
Fantastic walking tour with an extremely knowledgeable and witty guide - Nacho. Great tour and I would highly recommend it.
Totally recommend doing a walking tour if you haven’t been to Granada before, it gives you a great introduction to some of its history and lets you know where to continue the rest of your stay, our guide Nacho was excellent, very knowledgeable and approachable. Great tour.
Excellent walking tour with our guide Daniel. Learnt so much about Granada, its people & history. Lots of helpful tips provided about where to eat, shop & visit. Wear shoes with good grip as the stone paths can be slippery
The tour was excellent, extremely informative and well-paced. Delfina was an engaging, friendly tour guide. Would highly recommend this tour for those visiting Granada.
I discovered so much more today than I would have on my own. Rubén, our guide, was very considerate and full of information. He encouraged our questions and was happy to give extra tips. I recommend this tour to understand the historic influences and city layout.
Very knowledgeable, friendly and informative guide. Two hour City tour.
We visited Granada which is the most beautiful city in Spain. We took a walk in narrow cobblestone streets of Albaicín District then we went up to Mirador de San Nicolás, the most iconic viewpoint where you see Alhambra Palace against the Sierra Nevada mountains. This is the place where you find San Nicolas Church at one side on the other side is the Mosque of Granada which is still operational and displays the Moorish history that shapes the city. Whether you’re planning a trip to Spain or just love exploring history and culture. Granada is a destination that will steal your heart.
Marta was a very informative tour guide. Took us to all the main sites in central Granada and to lower Albaicin where there is an amazing view of the Alhambra.
It was a 2 hour walk with highlights from Granada. You can feel the love of the city and it's cultural history. Fina (Delfina) was great, passionate, sweet and cognicant of the physical limitations of the audience. it included highlights from AL Fundok (a hotel from the 1300, the unfinished Cathedral and tombs of Ysabella and Fernenade, also lovely walk through the bayazeen.
Alberto was wonderful - funny, informative and interesting. We learned so much about Granada and really enjoyed the tour.
Delfina was super knowledgeable, entertaining and friendly. Possibly the best walking tour I’ve ever been on!
This was my first ever free walking city tour and it was great! We spent two and a half hours (more or less) walking round the historic parts of Granada. Our guide showed us some of the key places every tourist must see when they visit the city including the cathedral, multiple churches, a stunning view of the Alhambra and some other historic neighbourhoods. Rúben was highly knowledgeable about the sites he was showing us and able to answer lots of questions that the group had about Ganada and its heritage. At the end he even took the time to recommend some other places for us to visit and places to eat.
Must-do walking tour, Lorena was knowledgeable, funny and took us to the best spots in Granada. Highly recommend!
Incredible tour run by local company by local guides. Very impressive, knowledgeable, personal and charismatic people. We didn’t not even noticed how 2,5 hours passed walking through the thousands years history, seamlessly changing centuries between ancient to modernity times. Love every second of it. Group’s size was pretty adequate, around 20 people, was easy to navigate but we were visiting off-season time. The only thing I will recommend is to use a microphone as navigation through busy streets can be noisy.
Our guide Nacho was extremely knowledgeable about the city’s history, but also about general Spanish history and the cultural context of the monuments we saw. He was also extremely patient with a couple of “chatty” members of our group who kept interrupting him and remained professional throughout. Nacho made the tour very informative and interesting, and threw in jokes to keep us engaged. We would definitely recommend the tour for those interested in the history of Granada!
The walking tour was the perfect length to learn about Granada and also to maintain interest. The guide, Rocía, was very good. She came across as passionate and knowledgeable about her city and gave a balanced view of the religious and political history of Granada. I would highly recommend this activity.
Great guide lots of history behind the city and advice on visiting other attractions.
A fascinating tour. The guide was very friendly and enthusiastic. She brought the history of Granada to life.
It was good. I had to leave early. I would have preferred just listening to someone on my phone and discovered at my own pace, but I did not see it available on Viator. The guide was very informative!
Marta was a lovely person who was very knowledgeable. The tour was just the right length and we learned a lot about Granada. She could have spoken a little bit more slowly for us but nice to see enthusiasm for her subject. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the walk but we were tired at the end. However we are old!!
Our guide Lorena was very informative and was able to amswer every question from history to architecture to modern political and cultural attitudes in Spain today.
Lovely guide Delphine who was knowledgeable and fun. Would recommend.
Marta was a. Great guide. Very personable, funny and informative! Gave us a great overview of the city and historical background. Definitely recommend.
Very informative tour with Nacho. We knew much more about Granada afterwards. We would certainly recommend this tour.
Rocio our tour guide gave us a full 2 hour tour involving the beautiful city center of Granada. We also toured some of the Almecin area of the old moor section and it was incredible. This tour gave us a great understanding of all the years of history that make up Grenada.
The guide was exceptional; Ms. Delfina provided an outstanding experience. Her expertise and guidance made her the best English tour guide I have encountered during my visits to Spain.
Very informative and enjoyable. Would definitely do again.
Great walking tour near the old city in Granada. Delphine was friendly and really knew the history of the city. I highly recommend her!
we joined the free walking tour and it was great. Ruben was a great guide and we learned a lot, 2.5 hours was just right to get a first yet good introduction about the city! We can definitely recommend it!
Excellent tour. Lenora was informative and looked after the whole group making sure everyone was present to hear her. Very good route with some great recommendations along the way. Thank you .
Delfina is a superb tourguide, a transplant fr Argentina that fell in love with Granada, she is knowlegeable of the area. gave us tips on restaurants and stores that she trusts.
Very nice walking tour up into the historic district of Albacain and the Sacramonte. Our guide was Marta and she was very knowledgeable and informative. (Make sure to check the ending point because as a Solo Traveler I didn't care to be left with such a long walk back to the starting point at dusk).
Very interesting and informative tour and accessible for everyone. Tour guide was easy to understand and quite humorous with information and stories. To be recommeded !
Delfina was the best tour guide ever. Very informative and well paced with lots of context. Perfect intro to Granada ... you must book it for your first morning there!!
