This was a great tour to get a feel for central Granada and the Albaicin area. 1st - the tour operator contacted me via WhatsApp well in advance of our tour to confirm details which gave me confidence about the tour. The night before I received my tour guides contact information. Gabrielle was terrific! She had an energetic and warm personality. Worth the help of an iPad she helped us understand the history and geography of Granada. We walked through the main sites in the center of town. The tour did NOT include entering sites such as the Cathedral, and we appreciated this as that was not what we wanted out of this tour. (We later backtracked and visited the sites in our own at our leisure). We parted ways after visiting the Albaicin. This was a fast paced overview of the town - be prepared to walk!!

The best 2.5 hours of my trip. I learnt so much from the wonderful Marta who guided us. She provided all the information necessary to enable us to appreciate the wonderful history of the city.
The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our private walking tour of Granada City Center and Albaicin with our tour guide Marta. She was knowledgeable and upbeat and seemed to really enjoy being a guide. She never rushed us and answered all our questions. The tour covered many main attractions in the city and was the perfect introduction to our week in the area. I would highly recommend the private tour with Marta.
An excellent ‘pay what you want’ tour and guide Fina was very charming and knowledgeable and spoke perfect English
Nacho was personable, informative and very well equipped to share the history of fascinating Granada both from a historical perspective and a personal one as a resident. We were in excellent hands and saw parts of the city that we would not have appreciated without a well intended guide.
Marta was an excellent guide well versed in both the historical and cultural aspects of the areas we toured as well as being both professional and personable.
We did the Granada Essentials tour. Our guide was either Alberto or Roberto. Excellent tour! Our guide was knowledgeable, funny, so engaged. Couldn’t be better. Do this tour!!!
Our guide Rocia was knowledgeable and patient. She answered all our questions and her English was clear and easily understood
Lovely and interesting afternoon spent with a very knowledgeable guide. Highly recommend! Our guide was Daniel.
Ruben, our guide, was great. Very informative but also fun. Lots of information and some wonderful places visited - which we wouldn’t have found without him! Thank you Ruben and keep up the good work in your beautiful city.
This was an excellent and informative tour of the city. Our guide, Gabriella, was great, combining knowledge with a sense of fun.
Definable our guide was knowledgeable, passionate and excited to show off Granada. Tour as noted was accessible for mobile people with minimal difficulty
Fantastic walking tour with lots of interesting information. Rocio is extremely knowledgeable and a great teacher. She made our tour very personable and gave us wonderful dinner recommendations!
Alberta was the absolute best tour guide in our Spanish travels. to date! So knowledgeable, patient and well spoken he gave us a personalized detailed tour of the Old town of Granada. He immersed us in the life as it was through the ages of this beautiful historic place and added a depth of the customs, artistry and fabric of this city unlike no other. We were enlightened and delighted with every aspect of this wondrous place! I highly recommend this tour, and advise all to request Alberto as your Mater Guide
Fantastic experience - deep in history but presented in an entertaining and knowledgeable way by Martha. Perfect English and an obvious love of her the ciry and her subject. Cannot recommend too highly.
Nacho was fabulous!!! He gave us so much history of the city and region. Beautiful stopping points along the walk and great tips for things to see outside of the tour. Highly recommend!
Amazing walking tour! Alain was very interesting, smiling and funny - he explained us the history of Granada, its culture, its habits and sayings. He also gave us great recommendations for places to eat. It was a great experience - I will do another tour next time I’ll come back
Lorena was knowledgeable and interesting. Recommend going as soon as you arrive so you understand important sites. But book Alhambra separate, way in advance and be on time and prepared for arduous climb.
Start from Plaza de Santa Ana we are in the medieval Nasrid town of Albaicín in Granada, pass the ornate Court of Justice to walk up narrow Calle Carcel Alta in to Plaza de San Gregorio. Looking down from here on to Calle Calderería Vieja you would be forgiven being in Casablanca, Morocco. The narrow street lined with all types of shops purveying Moorish clothes, teas, herbs, foods and sweetmeat shops. Reaching Calle Gran Vía de Colón, the main street in Granada cross over and find Calle Oficios which houses council offices and the entrance to the Royal Mausoleum. Carlos V decreed that the Royal Mausoleum to be built adjacent to the Cathedral represent Royal Vault, an allusion to the Holy Sepulchre. Coming out of the mausoleum head down a narrow alley, Ermita, which was full of multi-coloured little shops until you arrive at an archway that lead to a small square, Placeta de la Seda (Silk Square). The archway and the square was similarly full of small shops with colourful clothes, items and had blue tiled panels This tiny square is located at the heart of the Albaicín, inside the streets of the old souk next to the main mosque (now Cathedral & Sagrario) and below the madrassa (Koranic School) it’s easy to see how the city would have been in the 14th century. Inside this small square typical Fajaluaza ceramics, blue and green pottery from Granada adorns the walls. Walk out of the Silk Square head for the Cathedral with its front facing Plaza de las Pasiegas. Walk in to the cathedral to view a beautifully decorated interior. Stop for lunch at restaurant Harmanos Urquiza on Calle Navas for local dishes. One of the favourite to try is Huevo frito sobre habas y jamón serreno. Although on a tourist street near the City Hall but was patronised mostly by locals. Walk back to Plaza de Bib-Rambla where many restaurants and coffee houses are. Virgen de las Angustias day is the patron saint of the city. For the thirty days that the month lasts, the local government, different organisations, professional bodies, etc. come to the Basilica to pay public tribute to Her. Thousands of people come to the Basilica de las Angustias to place a bunch of flowers on its façade as a floral tribute to the Virgen de las Angustias (Our Lady of Sorrows). On 3rd of Sunday of the month, a procession is held. Torta de la Virgen, a traditional pastry baked in wooden ovens and filled with sweet pumpkin is made especially for this festivity and it is available only during this week. The roads are closed in the vicinity for the procession and the festivities.
Alberto brought Granada to life! He shared so much interesting historical information, was patient with our questions and extended our tour. Terrific value and highly recommend.
Rocio from Walk In Granada was excellent. The perfect combination of professionalism and approachability. She was knowledgeable and spoke fabulous English - really recommend :)
Really interesting- the guide new heaps of interesting facts and figures - she really bought the city to life for us! Easy walking, lots of shade, lovely group.
Excellent, informative tour. Time flies by. We get a good overview and some great stories. Lots of relevant details. The beat free walking tour on this holiday in Andalusia
Marta is the best walking tour guide, She has a profound love for her job and her knowledge is hard to beat. I have been at many tours around the world but nobody so compelling as Marta. I really appreciate her hard passion to answer any question, even at 35 degrees F, and She did it smoothly and with a big smile on her face. Big Hugs!!
The guide had exceptional knowledge of Granada and the vicinity, she maintained an excellent pace, she was cheerful and friendly.
This walking tour was WONDERFUL! Our guide, Rueben, was friendly and knowledgeable. He was patience and walked us all over the city center stopping at sites to explain the history and allowed us time to look inside different buildings and snap photos! I would highly recommend this tour.
Today I had a fantastic tour of the Granada and the lower Albaicin with Walk in Granada tourguide Rocio. The tour was well-timed, fun, and very informative - I learned so much about Granada. Rocio is a great guide, super nice, and extremly well informed! She did a great job. I was truly impresseda and will consider going on another tour soon.
Alain made the tour so engaging, funny and thought-provoking. Learning more about Granada, its history, streets, and music was a great experience
Our guide Vicente was excellent. Learned a lot of history! He showed us remarkable views of Alhambra and the old city
Alberto was informative, professional & passionate about the history of Granada. I would have appreciated time inside the cathedral & the Royal Chapel with him.
I thoroughly enjoyed this walk and a lot of it has to do with the way it was presented by the guide, Borja, who was able to present facts in a very humourous, modern and "applicable manner." I see him as a city insider, who not only lives in present Granada but strings the history of Granada to explain why Granada is what it is. Absolutely brilliant! Would have love to go for his other tours but had already booked to leave for Savilla. And of course, the fact that he takes "roll counts" is important that no one gets left behind.
Borja was an incredible guide who was knowledgeable and passionate about Granada. It was a great tour that I highly recommend.
Angel was an outstanding guide. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic. He clearly loves Granada. I would highly recommend him.
Alain had an in-depth knowledge of the history of Andalucía and Spain which he imparted with great skill and clarity. A very worthwhile tour.
Lorena was incredible! My dad and I did this walking tour together and enjoyed every second! I would definitely recommend this tour - even with the hilly walk in the Albaicín. ;) Lorena guided us through the town and through history. She organized the stories well and explained in great English. She was easy to understand.
We usually book private tours, and this one was one of the best we have ever had. Our guide was Alberto R. born and raised in Granada, so in addition to many historical details we also enjoyed in Alberto's personal commentaries on Granada's traditions and historical events. Alberto was very knowledgable but also entertaining and personable. While Granada is very beautiful on its own, Alberto's stories made this tour memorable.
Lorena was an amazing guide. Her wealth of knowledge and passion for the culture and community of Granada was clearly evident. Her tips on where to go after the tour were helpful. I was happy to leave a generous tip for a job well done.
This was the best walking tour we have ever done. Daniel is highly knowledgeable, entertaining and passionate about history and Granada. He takes his anecdotes and information from many grounded sources and strives to provide a balanced perspective and encourages discussion and reflection on the history of Granada. We’d love to book Daniel for further tours.
This tour was exactly what we were looking for! My friend and I wanted to know about the history of where we were staying and our tour guide, Nacho, gave us plenty of it! There were plenty of stops and only an incline at the end of the tour, so we had no difficulty in walking.
The guide, Nacho, was not only knowledgeable but also passionate about the city's history and culture. Their storytelling brought the streets and buildings to life, providing a rich tapestry of educational and entertaining information. The tour covered all the key landmarks as well as some hidden gems that I would never have discovered on my own. The balance between well-known tourist spots and lesser-known locales provided a comprehensive view of the city. The pace of the tour was perfect, with enough time to appreciate each site and take photos without feeling rushed.
Excellent tour with Alain- very informative and entertaining. Good mixture of historical, political and cultural information. Get his tips on where to eat!
Lorena was our guide; she was bright, knowledgeable, and so much fun! She made the history of Granada and the Albaicín come to life. She also showed us where to do our tapas stroll later. So impressed with someone so young with such poise and presence. Su & Tom
Our tour guide was Alberto, he was very informative and funny. The tour was very worthwhile and enjoyable. Grenada is a beautiful place and the tour is strongly advised.
We did the walking tour in the centre of Granada and Albaycin and absolutely loved it. Our guide, Alberto, did such a good job explaining the history and culture of Granada, while sharing personal insights. An absolute must do when in Granada!
Lorena was an incredible guide! She was very knowledgeable, and I appreciated her perspective on the historical events that occurred in Granada. She had answers for basically all of our questions, including a recommendation for a magical flamenco show which my girlfriend and I attended and absolutely loved! Would recommend 100%!
Ignacio was superb. He articulated the important & complex history of this City from pre-Roman beginnings through Roman, early Christianity, the Moorish centuries, the Reconquista, the subsequent expelling of the Jews, the subjugation & enforced conversion of the majority Islamic community, the follow up brutal Inquisition, Napoleon’s occupation through to modern times. He wove all that history as he carefully guided & took us through the old town of the Albacin and into the newer city post the reconquista
Gabriela was amazing — super well versed on the history of the city, very flexible about stopping to answer questions, excellent tour!
Wonderful tour of Granada with a fabulous guide. Alberto took us into the winding albaicin and plazas explaining the history and importance of this beautiful city. One of the best city tours we’ve ever had
We had a wonderful time touring the main sights of Granada and Albaicin. Our guide, Borja, was super knowledgeable and his explanations of the development of Granada were very interesting.
Wonderfull experience! Cudo’s to our tourgide Nacho who gave us a detailed insight in the cultural and political history of Granada, Andalusia and Spain all mixing it with some fun facts. This tour is about 2 to 2,5 hours mostly flat and easy walkable. Nacho is the cherry on the cake.
