If you want an amazing view if the Alhambra from across the way and are willing to climb uphill on steep steps this is got you. Also interesting to see the village built on a side of the hill. We would have lived to have lunch at one of the restaurants perched on the side of the hill or in one of the charming squares but didnt have the energy to go back upon the conclusion on the tour. It’s all about the views.

Good tour, very interesting neighborhood of twisting alleys and unique architecture The meetup was annoying - the office staff didn’t announce anything, the guide came in and spoke with them, then walked outside without a word to the room I had a funny feeling, so I got up from the bench in the waiting area and asked again. Only then did the staff say “the guy in the hat, he’s just outside” There were several other tours gathering in the area, and seemed to be a lot of confusion. The guide didn’t introduce himself, just checked names vs his list, and started walking. Very abrupt start! Over the course of the tour “LT” proved knowledgeable, and shared some good history He’s Argentinian, studied in Granada. He had good information, but it felt somewhat academic - perhaps someone with deeper personal ties to the city may have come been more engaging He had a tendency to put his head down and just walk, not really paying attention to whether the group was keeping up This is a very hilly neighborhood, and parts of the route are somewhat steep - would NOT recommend for anyone with limited mobility Comfortable and sturdy footwear is vital for this tour! Overall I’d rate this good - but not great
LT was knowledgeable about history and the region. It was nice to have a private guide to ask our questions
I enjoyed this tour especially for the many stops at viewpoints of the Alhambra along the way! The history was interesting of Sacromonte and seeing where families lived in the white washed houses carved out of the caves was beyond imagination! I also saw a Flamenco show in one of the caves later that night!
Such a shame. I’m pretty flexible but we booked an English tour and had one Spanish-speaking guest added on to the tour. The guide had to deliver everything in Spanish, which cut our time in half and slowed everything down. The manager of the company’s response was basically a shrug, offering a refund (why?) or moving the time (which I explained people book at certain times for a reason). I suggested he tell the guide to speak in English as it’s an English tour, and he said no. Would not recommend this company and will be leaving this review elsewhere.
Would have been so lost without guide. Impossible to navigate complicated street layouts and GPS not helpful with very little internet available in the hills and around cave houses. Would definitely recommend.
Such a great way of exploring the city on foot. Lovely informative guide and spectacular view points too!
We arrived on time at the plaza for the start of the tour and assumed the large tour group was ours. When we realized our mistake and went into the office two minutes later, the guide had already left without attempting to contact us. The office tried to call the guide but to no avail. While they offered to reschedule, that wasn’t going to work for us. When we asked multiple times if they could point us in the direction the tour went and maybe we could catch them, they refused to provide us any details. They just kept insisting we should’ve been in the office on time, which isn’t particularly helpful at that point. They then also refused to refund the tour. Overall: it was our mistake. But the lack of basic customer service by not attempting to contact us at all or offer any suggestion on how we might catch them (even if u likely) is very unfortunate.
Leisurely walk uphill with lots if stops to rest. Guide was very personable. Go inside office to check in instead of looking for guide outside.
Great tour of two famous Granada neighborhoods, with a nice mix of history, human interest, and Pionono pastries. The tour guide was excellent. Get ready for steps and hills as you go up and down the hillside, but the views are spectacular.
We had an amazing time with Mario. He was patient and kind, and very knowledgeable. He took his time explaining things to us, and clearly had a very deep understanding of Granada’s history and the local cultures which is exactly what we wanted. Because of his connections, we spoke with locals and he pointed out small businesses and family homes along the way too. Not only did we have a fantastic tour guide, we made a friend! Thank you Mario!
Good insight into the Albayzin & Sacromonte areas with stops for amazing Alhambra viewing/photo opportunities. Our guide (LT?) was knowledgeable, personably. Overall, an enjoyable 2 hours.
LT was wonderful! He was able to easily explain lots of history in Granada. We felt like locals walking with him, would highly recommend this 2 hour tour. There are lots of stair but the guides provided time to rest and admire the views.
The guide was friendly and informative. He took time explaining the history of Granada and was welcoming and jovial. We learned a lot!
Mario was great. He knew a lot of the history and made it come alive.
Excellent private tour of Granada from Mario! Very nice, knowledgeable, and friendly! Thank you so much!
Great tour. Mario was a very knowledgeable and accommodating guide. Very good start to my Granada visit.
This was an excellent tour. The staff members at the office were lovely, but our tour guide, Mario, was fabulous! The tour was well paced, informative, and overall added to our appreciation of Grenada. There was a lot of walking, but we enjoyed the exercise. The views were breathtaking. We highly recommend this. Overall we are very happy customers!
We were lucky enough to end up on a private tour with Mario, who not only showed us the scenic viewpoints but shared his vast knowledge of the history of the area as well as current social/economic issues. Mario studied history and multiple languages at university, and generally has a curiosity and appreciation of world history and culture, so was able to provide important context to the sights we were admiring. We really enjoyed the overview of Spanish history in the Andalusia region and would highly recommend taking a tour with Mario.
Raul was a wonderful guide. Fantastic views and insights into the area and great value. Don’t hesitate to book.
Very scenic towns that attract large numbers of tour groups. Spectacular views in both towns along with charming architecture. Chesko was a great guide.
We had amazing tour with Mario, who shared an incredible amount of interesting history with us. The steep walking was a challenge, but we had a wonderful time!
Mario took us all the good places in albaicin and sacromonte
Oh my what a brilliant experience! We were so lucky to get our tour guide Raoul who was amazing. Friendly, informative & so knowledgeable about his city. We had a great time exploring this very interesting part of such a beautiful city. Great start to a brilliant city break. Definitely recommend. 10 stars!!!
Excellent walking tour, we explored areas that we would not have found on our own, with great viewpoints of the Alhambra. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Highly recommend doing the tour to explore these areas
Mario was an excellent guide. The walk is very hilly with lots of steps, and he paced the tour to our walking abilities. He was extremely knowledgeable and personable. I'd highly recommend this tour with Mario!
Mario gave us a very detailed tour . We felt it gave a good “feel” of Granada . A good understanding of early life here .
Mario and Raul were great guides. We wish we did this tour on the first day of our trip. It filled in the timeline and gave great historical context for our stay in Granada.
Amazing blend of Islamic and Christian culture - unique in the world!
Mario was very knowledgeable and pleasant. We did an English/French tour, which he handled well.
Tour guide Andrea was lovely and very knowledgeable!
Don’t miss this and other incredible tours offered through Play Granada! Andrea and Marco gave such an informative and enjoyable walking tour through the Albycin and Sacramonte neighborhoods. Learning about history and cultures makes our travels so much richer and the many photo opts on this tour are impressive. Andrea and Marco were personable, knowledgeable and professional with relaxed and fun personalities. Don’t miss it! The staff of Play Granada are also exceptional. Deepen your experience in Granada by taking this and other tours while there.
This was overall a disappointment - I booked the walking tour for 12pm, and planned my day around it. I had a WhatsApp message from the provider around 10:45am, asking if I had interest in booking a flamenco show through them for that evening. I arrived at the meeting point (their offices) just before noon, and was told that the tour would not be happening, as I was the only person who had booked. Why not tell me that when trying to sell me another experience? I was offered a spot on the Segway tour for noon instead, which I agreed to and paid an additional cost. However, when this tour started, it was actually a biking tour, which I ended up not taking part in (I am not comfortable riding a bike, especially through crowded streets and up steep hills). The provider then offered for me to go on a walking tour departing at 5pm, but I had other plans. I wish communication from the provider had been better - if they had been clear that the tour I booked would not proceed, I would not have wasted a large portion of my day getting the run-around.
Our walking tour through the Albaicín in Granada was very nice, made all the more special by our guide, Mario. He struck the perfect balance between being incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely funny, bringing the history and culture of the area to life in such an engaging way. What stood out most was how considerate he was of the group’s pace, especially with a mix of young, elder and myself—he made sure everyone felt comfortable without missing out on anything. His recommendations for places to visit, eat, and explore beyond the tour were also spot-on and really helped us make the most of our time in Granada. I’d highly recommend this tour woth Mario to anyone
Great tour. Fantastic guide willing to answer all questions. Would definitely recommend to all ages.
Marta was an excellent guide…had a 1:1 tour by accident & the bespoke conversation was great..good historical commentary peppered with local politics and awesome stories..
Very knowledgeable guide who was personable and let me set the pace. So much information about the peoples, different cultures and the mark they each left on Granada. Would do this again with friends. I think I saw everything in 2-hours and learned so much! Finally understand the depictions of pomegranates all over the city.
An excellent tour. Our guide Marta was incredibly knowledgeable. She was friendly and very professional. A great tour. I highly recommend it.
Marta made our Granada tour of Albayzín and Sacromonte unforgettable—engaging stories, perfect pacing, and a warmth that brought the streets to life. Highly, highly recommended! She is the best tour guide ever!!
Marta was amazing, combining history with current cultural implications. Her passion and compassion came through immediately as she listened and spoke through her heart ❤. Thank you
First of all, I would like to thank our tour guide, Marta, for such a lovely experience. She was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and she made the tour feel more like a relaxed walk with a friend than a guided visit. We had wonderful conversations along the way, learned so much, and truly enjoyed it. Hopefully this won’t be our last visit, we will definitely be back to Granada to explore even more.
Marta was a terrific tour guide and taught us a lot about the history of Granada. She was well-informed and answered our myriad of questions.
Marta was our guide. She was fantastic. So friendly and knowledgeable. She gave us so much interesting information and easily answered any questions we had.
Explaining the history and more specifically the cultural history of this incredible place in 2 hours is a tall order, and yet, Mario does it with ease, gracefully balancing the political, religious, economic and let's be honest, romantic attraction of Granada. Great tour, we recommend
Interesting tour with a very personal touch courtesy of our guide on the day (Mario). Well worth doing at the start of your stay in Granada to get an 'early' insight into the city.
Mario was a fabulous tour guide - very knowledgeable about the history of Granada. Tour was well-paced and he knew best spots for amazing views away from crowds. We wish we could have spent more time with him and will definitely recommend the tour to our friends coming to Granada.
Great overview of 2 of the sections of Granada. Lots of information about the history of the city and great views of the walls and Alhambra from less crowded locations. Some steep climbs but great experience.
Great walking tour! Mario was awesome, so knowledgeable in so much Granada/Spain. Thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.
We really enjoyed this walking tour. The Albaicin and Sacromonte neighborhoods are full of history and beautiful overlooks of Granada. You also get great views of the entire Alhambra complex while you are walking through these areas. Being able to see inside an actual cave house was so interesting. Our guide Mario was very nice and he shared a lot of information about the history of Granada. A lot of uphill steps but if you enjoy walking it’s very moderate. We definitely recommend this tour!
This was a great, affordable walking tour of the Albayzin and Sacromonte neighborhoods. Our tour guide, Mario, was friendly and knowledgable - he shared a good mix of historical highlights and current affairs. We also appreciated that he guided us to spots that were both popular and off the beaten path. One of our favorite parts of our trip was returning to a spot Mario recommended after the tour. Would definitely recommend this tour and Mario as a tour guide!
