Enjoyable walk with fabulous scenery. Trainers were fine. The best part is the final mile 😀. Our driver was fun, spoke great English and collected us at the end of the trail.

Miguel was a friendly driver and ensured we made the tour on time, and provided clear instructions on where to meet him at the end once we were ready. The tour of the Caminto del Ray was a liesurely walking pace, but at times felt rushed due to the narrow pathway and need to maintain contact with the guide so that headphone signal remained connected. The experience and hike was great, but my preference in future would be an unguided walk at own pace.
Staying in Granada, we had a hefty drive to get to the Caminito del Rey but Jose was a fantastic driver. Clean car and pleasant conversation (but allowed us a siesta too). He also got us into an earlier tour since we arrived earlier than expected. Our guide on the walk was good, imparting information and with a touch of humor. He was sensitive to those who were afraid of heights. Hubby has a little fear but even he didn’t think this walk was scary.
We took the Caminito del Rey day trip from Granada with Discovering Spain, and overall, it was a great experience. Communication with the tour agency was smooth, and we had no trouble locating the meeting point using Google Maps. Our group was small—just four people (2+2)—so we traveled comfortably in a sedan. Our driver, Manuel, was friendly and spoke English well. During the 1 hour and 45-minute ride, he provided an informative overview of Granada and the surrounding areas. Upon arriving at the Caminito del Rey parking lot, we had a 20-minute walk to the actual entrance of the trail. Manuel took care of our tickets, made sure we were in the right line, and then departed. From that point, the official park guides took over. Each participant was given a helmet and a wireless receiver with a headset, ensuring we could hear the guide clearly throughout the hike. The walk itself was relatively easy, following wooden and rock pathways along the mountainside. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking—no photo or video can truly capture it. The only real challenge was the heat. It’s essential to bring plenty of water, dress lightly, and wear comfortable sneakers. One unexpected aspect was that after the official guided portion of the trail (which lasted around 2 to 2.5 hours), we were left at a point that required an additional 30-minute walk to reach the exit. Just beyond that point, there's a vending machine with cold water—don’t skip it! An ambulance is stationed near the exit for those affected by the heat, underscoring the importance of staying hydrated and protected. Despite the heat and fatigue, the stunning views made it all worthwhile. Manuel met us at the exit and gave us time to rest at a shaded café area before driving us back to Granada. The entire trip took about 7.5 hours, with approximately 3 hours spent commuting and the rest at the park. I highly recommend visiting Caminito del Rey, and Discovering Spain made the journey smooth and convenient.
Excellent views and a marvellous of engineering. If a hot day ensure you have plenty of water and snacks. There are some steep steps up and down. So if you have any injuries or difficulties you may need to reconsider. This also goes for if you have a fear of heights. Overall an excellent day trip. We had and excellent driver which made the 2hr trip each way more enjoyable. He had an excellent knowledge of Spain and Granada.
Gorgeous views!!! Jose, our driver was friendly and provided information along the drive. Our guide for the actual tour of Caminito del Rey provided entertaining and educational information.
We loved this experience!! Our driver, Jose, picked us up near our hotel in Granada and drove us 2 hours to El caminito del Rey. He was very knowledgeable and shared many great facts with us along the drive. He made sure we arrived safely to the entrance, and handed us off to Gregorio, (tour guide in El caminito, who was also fantastic!). The views were absolutely amazing. Jose was waiting for us at the end of the tour - he had vip parking (so we didn't have to do extra walking in the heat!). Cristina C, who works at the office, was so nice and so easy to work with. She made sure we were well prepared for our trip! Overall was a really great experience.
We had a wonderful day trip from Granada to Caminito del Rey, made even more enjoyable and memorable thanks to our guide, Gonzalo. He was punctual, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and engaging throughout the entire experience. Gonzalo spoke excellent English and clearly explained what to expect during the trip, making us feel well-prepared and comfortable. He was incredibly patient and thoughtful, stopping along the way to show us beautiful viewpoints and recommending a great restaurant. He gave us plenty of time to enjoy the hike, take photos, and relax over a meal. Gonzalo also shared helpful recommendations for restaurants and places to visit in Granada. Overall, he made our trip truly special. Highly recommend it. Thank you Gonzalo for everything!!
It was beautiful and you need to wear proper clothes. I also no toilets or eating dirnthr 2.5 hours on the trail. The transfer was great. I our driver was fantastic and gave us good information. Everything ran on time. The trail is amazing and is very high and the history was fantastic. Try to do it on a sunny day. I the colors are beautiful
The tour consisted of a bus trip from Granada to Carminito del Rey where the real guided tour started. We were assigned guides and we had a great guide who took the time and paced the walk perfectly. She was enthusiastic and spent her time talking about how the dam project evolved and also talked about the flora and fauna. We were passed by numerous groups so our walk was easy and leisurely. Although apprehensive about heights, once started it was not a problem A wonderful experience not to be missed .
We had a great experience! Jose, our driver, was great- friendly, professional, and he drove safely. Once at Caminito del Rey, our guide, Javi, was friendly, professional, and educational….we walked a total of about 6-7km over the 2-2.5 hour tour. My husband and I are in our early 70’s, and we kept up with the pace of the tour. It was a group of about 16 people, and the tour was well organized. I was impressed with their safety protocols. The region was gorgeous! Highly recommend!
Very cool hike. An amazingly unique experience. The hike is beautiful and breathtaking. Would love to have extra time in this area in the future. Definitely recommend. Such a nice change of pace of the city and historical tours. Tour guide was excellent. Gave great information so we understood about the history but also was quiet and allowed us to enjoy the beauty.
Great driver to and from Granada plus wonderful guide. Amazing hike/walk through the gorges. An excellent trip!
Nice little group, lovely guide. Very lovely day! Guides were very relaxed and accommodating. On the wayy back we visited Antequerra which was a lovely bonus. Guide offered to drop people of at their hotel in Granada because it was raining, which was very kind.
Our tour guide was very informative and led us safely on the hike. It was very windy on the day that we went and the last part of walkway was closed and we walked the canal to the bridge crossing.
Absolutely wonderful and a bit difficult at times for us 70+ year old seniors. So beautiful and interesting. Our guide was a lovely young lady who gave us tons of info and insight of the history of the caminita del Rey.
Our driver made everything easy. Gave some interesting information about Granada on our way out of the city. Passed us off to our guide for the hike and clearly explained, and was waiting for us, at the meeting point at the end of the hike. Gave adequate time before and after the hike for snacks/bathroom breaks. Made for a smooth and worry free day.
Caminito Del Rey is a nice walk. We has transport from Granada and back. Easy paths, some bolted into the side of the mountain. I am moderately height aware and did well. Our guide was informative and funny. Bring water and snacks.
The tour in itself was daring and breathtaking. Just when I thought this experience could not get better Miguel ( our driver from Granada) was very tentative and caring . He made sure my nephew was comfortable all the way
We had a perfect experience at the Caminito del Rey thanks to DiscoveringSpain. Carlos (our driver) was 10/10! He ensured a smooth journey and cut through the noise when we arrived (it was chaos at the entrance!), got us straight on a tour, gave some local tips and took us to another beautiful town on the way back to Granada. We had originally booked for a different day but needed to reschedule due to group numbers, which meant that the only day we could do the trip was the same day as our flight home. However, Carlos was happy to accommodate and drop us off at the airport in plenty of time on our way back, making the whole experience possible for us. Thanks again, Discovering Spain! Would definitely recommend this hike to anyone staying in Granada or Malaga!
We booked this tour on Feb 4 for an April 26 tour date. Notified via WhatsApp on April 25 that the tour was cancelled as the minimum number of people was not met. Completely annoyed that we were not told sooner, as we might have been able to self-organize. But the attraction is sold out, so we couldn’t go even if we wanted to. The ONE time I decide to pay extra for an organized tour so that I could simply show up and be shuttled around (as opposed to securing train/attraction tickets on own) and I’m left completely hanging. I plan meetings for a living, and was trying to take a vacation from being in charge of everything. Total disappointment from Trip Advisor/Viator and Discovering Spain/Anera Travel.
I'm afraid of heights, but couldn't miss this opportunity. It's one of the best tours of our trip to Spain. We had a great driver and care-taker and the Caminito tour guide was informative and helpful. Overall - great!
Our tour to Caminito del Rey was a great experience! The driver who took us gave insights to the areas we drove through and made an extra stretch stop on the way back to Granada! The driver guided us to the entrance and met us after the tour where we could grab a snack before heading back to Granada. The tour itself was good- it was more structured than I realized before booking but overall very interesting to see the walkways and experience the area.
The visit to Caminito Del Rey was one of the highlights with our visit in southern Spain! My friends continue to talk about our experience! It was thrilling! Wanted to give a special thanks to Fernando, our english speaking guide for our trip through the canyon! He was engaging and personable! And to Carlos, our personal driver to and from Granada! He made our roughly 2 hour drive delightful and informative! Ask for him if he is available for the trip… he will make the time pass quickly!
A great trip well worth going would do it again if in the area Our driver to and from the area had a lot of knowledge and was very helpful,
Fantastic experience with guided tour (Parejo). We got very interesting information. Although the trip looks daring, we felt safe and in good hands. If you are going to Malaga, this trip should be a priority!
The king's walking tour was great, and our guide and driver very good and had the detail back from stopping for a moment in antequera
Nice experience that we have lived as a family. It was an excursion that we could not miss, during the journey we were accompanied by a guide, Javi, who explained the history, fauna and some secrets of the place. In addition, the attention of the team that is part of discoberingspain was exquisite, attentive and professional. Faced with the COVID-19 situation we were a little afraid, we called and Sílvia and Fran managed everything very quickly, by private transport they took us to the King’s Path and brought us back, Poli was the one who accompanied us. A highly recommended destination for all types of public. Thank you for helping us create beautiful memories 😊
