Very interesting and very knowledgeable guide. There is a lot of uphill walking and some pretty steep inclines. There were rest breaks but not for people who aren't in very good shape. There were 6 in our group which gave the guide a little more flexibility for stops along the way. We booked last minute and this was our only option so there was a premium for the tickets.

Itinerary
We start here!
A breathtaking masterpiece of Moorish artistry, frozen in time. Each stone in this palatial fortress whispers tales of sultans and poets, echoing the rhythms of a bygone era. The Alhambra isn't just a monument; it's a tapestry of history, woven with the threads of architectural brilliance and cultural fusion. As you stroll through its corridors, you'll be enveloped by the intricate Islamic art, grand archways, and reflective pools, all harmoniously blending with the lush greenery of the Generalife Gardens. The Alhambra stands as a testament to human creativity, its walls adorned with delicate arabesques, its spaces filled with the light and shadow play of latticed windows. Here, every courtyard tells a story, every garden sings a poem, and every view is a painting brought to life. This isn't merely a visit; it's a journey through time, an encounter with the soul of Granada, and an experience that will linger in your memory long after you've left its enchanting embrace.
Discover the Alcazaba, the oldest part of the Alhambra, a fortress of stories etched in stone. As you traverse its ramparts, you're not just walking - you're journeying through centuries. Witness the stronghold where sultans once surveyed their realm, a place where history's echo is almost tangible. The Alcazaba stands as a sentinel of time, its robust towers and battlements narrating tales of strategic might and timeless views over Granada. Each step here is a step back in time, amidst the remnants of Moorish grandeur and whispers of ancient secrets. This isn't just a visit; it's a foray into the heart of a bygone era, a chance to stand where kings stood, and see what they saw - a panoramic vista of a city that once pulsated with the life of a vibrant civilization. The Alcazaba is more than an attraction; it's a bridge to the past, inviting you to explore, discover, and be awed.
Step into the grandeur of the Palace of Charles V, an architectural jewel nestled within the Alhambra. This Renaissance masterpiece contrasts with its Moorish surroundings, yet harmonizes through its sheer elegance. Its circular courtyard, a marvel of symmetry, whispers of a fusion between cultures and epochs. As you wander its expansive halls, you're enveloped in an ambiance of regal splendor, where every column and cornice tells a story of power, art, and ambition. The palace is not just a monument; it's a testament to a king's vision and a crossroads of history, where the Renaissance's bold lines meet Andalusia’s spirit. This is more than a visit; it's an encounter with history, a dance through time in one of Europe's most unique royal residences. The Palace of Charles V invites you to witness the legacy of a king's dream, etched in stone and time.
The Generalife Palace, an oasis of tranquility and beauty, awaits your discovery. This enchanting retreat of Nasrid kings is a masterpiece of Islamic garden architecture, where nature and design merge in serene harmony. Stroll through its lush gardens, where the air is perfumed with jasmine and the sound of flowing water from elegant fountains soothes the soul. The palace's architecture, with its intricate Arabesque details and light-flooded courtyards, embodies a paradise on earth. Each pathway leads to a new discovery, be it a hidden alcove or a stunning vista of the Alhambra. In the Generalife, time slows down, allowing you to savor the peaceful ambiance of a bygone era. Here, history is not just seen but felt through the whisper of leaves and the gentle caress of a Mediterranean breeze. The Generalife Palace is more than a historical site; it's a sensory journey into the heart of Andalusian splendor.

We paid nearly $500 for two people for this tour, supposedly as a “last-minute deal.” ---- I strongly recommend that you do NOT buy this tour. Do not waste your money on this tour.------ Despite paying this amount, we were not allowed to enter the Nasrid Palace. We were only taken around the outside gardens. The tour description made it sound as though admission to the palace was included, which I consider extremely misleading and almost fraudulent. There was also no hotel pickup, despite what we expected. This was essentially a walking tour. The guide spent most of the time explaining the plants and trees rather than providing meaningful historical information. We were given headphones, but there was so much background noise and interference that it was very difficult to hear or understand the guide. For nearly $500 for two people, I honestly feel that this tour provided virtually no value for the money. If admission to the palace is not included, that should be made absolutely clear in the tour description. Making it appear as though the palace tour is included is completely unacceptable.
Samuel explain a lot of Spain’s history and gave us details that helped us understand the history of the Alhambra. He’s very knowledgeable and was attentive to everyone’s needs. I fully recommend Samuel as an excellent tour guide for the Alhambra.
Highly recommend tour of The Alhambra and surrounding areas. My friends & I did not want it to end. Sandra was a wonderful guide. Her humor made the day. I would suggest going back an additional day to check out the area. So much history, Sandra was a gem! We booked last minute & paid a premium. Totally worth it! Suggest booking 3-4 weeks in advance.
Amazing guide, Jesus gave us the best tour, he was knowledgeable, well prepared and had extremely interesting stories to share. He was accommodating to my family who is older and walks slowly. I also appreciated that he spoke clearly and slowly, my mom (81) could understand. I learned so many new things about the Alhambra and about the history of Granada. I love this city so much. It’s my second time visiting and my first time entering the Alhambra. I 100% recommend Jesus for this tour.
Our guide, Sandra, was very knowledgeable and didn’t overwhelm us with too much information. We were with her for about 3 and a half hours but, with how much there was to see, it flew by quickly. This tour is best for people with a decent level of fitness as there is a lot of walking involved.
Sandra is an amazing guide, incredibly knowledgeable, and the Alhambra is breathtakingly beautiful. The cost of the ticket in this experience is incredibly expensive, but that is what you get when you book last minute instead of in advance on the Alhambra website. I hope some of the exorbitant costs go to the guides like Sandra themselves.
Sandra was a great tour guide. Interesting comments, kind person and very organized!
Sandra was very knowledgeable and a great guide
We booked a last minute deal with a guide to visit the Alhambra, desk person was very helpful. Our guide Ismael was awesome, very friendly and knowledgeable with well timed historical facts along the visit. It was worth taking a guide
First of all thank you for the last minute tour otherwise I won't be able to see alhambra in my only day. İsmail was so patient, caring and helpful. The only thing I would expect would be if he could tell in a Chronolgy and with the connected stories and a little better pronounciation but I am sure he will be doing in the future with experience.
My experience. Got message less than 24 hours before trip to say booked date and time not available, and they offered either different time (3pm instead of 12:30pm which we couldn’t do) or audioguide (had booked real guide). Note no offer of a refund. Accepted audioguide then realised - why should we accept something that is different to what was advertised and that we paid for? So instead asked for refund. They refused. Viator also refused. I’m sure this breaks consumer law. Really, really bad.
We took a 3 hour tour with a private guide. Very knowledgeable and made the Alhambra experience even more
It was an incredible experience; our guide was great and really took the time to explain every detail to us for over three hours. I booked the tour at the last minute, and while it was a bit pricey, it was well worth it.
Great tour guide! The tour was very informative and entertaining. Rather expensive, but we were late to book (visiting Andalucia during semana santa) and no regular tickets were to be had anymore. Worth it.
We loved our guide, Sandra I think was the name. Very patient and well informed.
Canceled 30 min before. Reached out to the company and no response until an email popped through.
Eva was incredibly helpful. We booked our trip very last minute and she helped us get tickets for the Nasrid palaces as part of the whole Granada experience. And we loved the bus rides as well as the experience of visiting some great cultural sites in the city. Total professional!
My family and I arrived in Granda hoping to get a tour of Alhambra, but on the official website it showed it booked for the following weeks, then we ran into this place and minutes later we had tickets for the following day. Amazing tour guide Anna was awesome.
Do not buy tours from PLAY GRANADA. They will take your payment and then WhatsApp you just day before changing guided tour to audio guide which is a total waste of time. Then the rudest Spanish girl who should not be working there tried to charge us extra for a next day guided tour even though we had paid for the same and which they cancelled and changed to an audio guide. This company has poor practices. They need to change their exploitative commercial bad practices and starting with not having this employee in a customer facing role would be great start. She refused to provide her name or allow us to speak with a manager who seemed to hide behind a phone.
This agency takes advantage of the misfortune of tourists who have not managed to book tickets far enough in advance to go see the Alhambra. The ticket does not include entry to the Nasrid Palaces, which is truly the most beautiful monument in the Alhambra, a real gem. For €170, they offer a tour of the gardens and other monuments, most of which are free. The audio guide is of extremely poor quality, with repetitions and no historical information. We felt ripped off by this agency. The ad title said "complete tour of the Alhambra," what a lie! The price of admission to the Nasrid Palace is €12!!!
Our tour was cancelled the day before while we were on a cruise. When we arrived, I asked for a partial refund as we were only getting entry tickets and not the tour. The woman behind the desk offered to give us a full refund but then we would not be able to enter as tickets are sold out months in advance. In the end we paid for a guided tour inside the Alhambra after already paying for one
What a wonderful tour!! Great value entry fee plus guided tour. Must have guide to understand and learn and experience the buildings. Our guide was patient, funny, incredibly informative. Prepare for a lot of walking! Pay attention to tour meeting place!! It is NOT the entrance and bus drop off area. Didn’t see Nasrid Palace interior due to sold out tickets.
Looking on line for Alhambra tickets the complete month was fully booked tho’ suggestions were to go to the booking office on the day and ‘you may be lucky’ . We did this - sorry all fully booked till November 🤫 Walked down the hill to play Granada - any tickets for Alhambra ? Yep no problem €139 for 1 😡😡😡 plenty availability. Should be €19 😡 - total rip off
Amazing scenery rich history educational for the family, love it second time visiting and hoping for a 3rd one must to see it
Totally worth the money! Alhambra is a huge place and we would have never learned so much about its history without the knowledgeable guide, Sandra!
It’s expensive but worth it with a great guide like we had. Spoke excellent English, told the history of Alhambra with animation in a way that made it interesting, was friendly and had a good sense of humour
Tour operator canceled the tour because they didn’t have the “minimum” amount of people joining the tour. But offered me to give the tickets (no access to the Nasrid palaces) and a poorly designed/glitchy web based audio guide that only listed 12 areas which they didn’t even explain how to reach. It just felt like a total scam so they can sell you the tickets for $60 each.
Make sure to do your research before booking a tour. They advertise themselves as last minute but they give access to the gardens… not the castle. the gardens never sell out and are not the main attraction. Also they tell you the day before that there’s no tour available even though that is what you paid for
Our tour guide Sandra, was incredible! Not only was her knowledge deep and interesting, she was kind, compassionate, and incredibly helpful. Another tour group lost a pair of sunglasses, she found the owner, and returned them. Then there was a medical emergency of a visitor and Sandra helped secure the situation, helping Alhambra security, medical personnel, and patrons. She truly went above and beyond in every way and I was very impressed. Highly recommend this professional tour and company!
The tour was very nice and they accommodated six of us last minute. I suggest booking in advance as you will save money that way, but if you are planning a trip and have very little time left to see Alhambra I recommend that you go with this tour.
The trip was very informative. The climb was tough but Mario entertained us the whole way and gave us breaks. The views were excellent and the experience was great
The guides are super competent and more than happy to answer any question you would wanna ask them. The views they showed us were truly amazing! I highly recommend!
Our tour guide was nice and easy going. I don’t like however being forced by the tour company to give her a 5 star so she can get financially rewarded, just so the tour company gets a 5 star on Triparvisor
The guide asked questions without contextualizing the Al Hambra. It was frustrating to be asked low level questions while having no context about the city.
My husband and I booked the tour for the Alhambra for a three hour tour. Our tour guide Sandra was very nice and knowledgeable. We give her a start 5 for sure. We learned some history from her, and the best part was she lead us by order from gate 1 to 4 etc, made the whole tour easy to follow. Alhambra is huge and can be confusion, with a guided tour makes it easier and fun, less confusing. Our suggestion is about the Nazrid Place ticket. That it should be included in the guided tour. We were asked to purchase the tickets after we bought the tour and little we knew that the main palace was not included. The ticket was 39 Euro per person which just for the place and the audio did not work after a while. The tour was 30 per person and we are happy with, but are not happy about the over priced Nazrid Palace tickets which we were left alone for that.
Our tour guide Sandra was the best! She was so knowledgeable and made the tour interactive. We booked very last minute and enjoyed every second!
Very professional, very informative & we're very happy we went on this guided tour. Our guide, Sandra, was patient and concise with her knowledge. She made the tour pleasurable and easy. 5 stars!
Bought the tickets for the Ahlambra at high cost ($155!) as they were last minute. Tour was advertised as guided - 3 hours. Was informed a half hour before the tour, a guide was not available. Was given a self -guided audio tour instead that contained about 1/2 hour of content.
Our guide was fantastic! She was incredibly knowledgeable about the history and told several great stories about the Alhambra. We all felt like we learned something new. We were so glad we had a guide- she really brought the Alhambra to life!
The Tour Guide Maria was very rude and irritated towards the end. She just snapped at me for a simple question that Which way to exit to tell our driver where is the Nearest pickup spot at the end of the Tour.
Had an amazing, fact filled tour with our wonderful guide Marie Carmen. And we had a fun too! Unbeatable experience. Note that you really do need to bring your passports, non-EU folks! It’s a security measure.
Mario gave us an amazing tour of the Albaicin and Sacromonte neighbourhoods of Granada. We were very lucky as my husband and I had the chance of having the guide to ourselves. Mario is very knowledgeable in history, but also added interesting pieces of information on local culture and customs. We booked the tour in Spanish but he did half of it in French for my husband’s benefit, also showing fluency in English and in German. We highly recommend Mario for your tour!
Our guide did a wonderful job. Her knowledge of the history was very thorough and made the tour interesting and very enjoyable. Give her a raise!!
Fatima gave us an informative great tour of Alhambra. It was very good to know the history and the transformation of Alhambra over the centuries of different regimes
We went on the tour with Mario and loved the experience! He was super knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the history and culture of Granada. The viewpoints he took us to were truly breathtaking!
Amazing experience, our Tour Guide María was very helpful and well-informed, keeping the whole tour very entertaining, it was a pleasure!
It waals amazong, Horacio guide was really helpful. I think its much better to go to Alhambra with guide than solo because there is bunch of folklore and legends.
Fatima was great. Time was just right. Very pleasant experience. Thank you for confirming our reservation. The lady at the office was great help.
The office folks were very efficient. The guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. His English was fluent and shared a lot of interesting details. It made me want to learn more about the Alhambra and its place in history.
