Itinerary
On a rocky hill that is difficult to access, on the banks of the River Darro, protected by mountains and surrounded by woods, among the oldest quarters in the city, the Alhambra rises up like an imposing castle with reddish tones in its ramparts that prevent the outside world from seeing the delicate beauty they enclose. Originally designed as a military area, the Alhambra became the residence of royalty and of the court of Granada in the middle of the thirteenth century, after the establishment of the Nasrid kingdom and the construction of the first palace, by the founder king Mohammed ibn Yusuf ben Nasr, better known as Alhamar. The fortress became a citadel with high ramparts and defensive towers, which house two main areas: the military area, or Alcazaba, the barracks of the royal guard, and the medina or court city, the location of the famous Nasrid Palaces and the remains of the houses of noblemen and plebeians who lived there.
The habitual residence of the kings of Granada, their construction began at the beginning of the 14th century. The Nasrid Palaces are a palatial complex formed by three buildings: - The Mexuar is the oldest hall. It was employed for meetings between the ministers of the king and as a courtroom. - Next, we come to the Palace of Comares, which dates back to the era of Yusuf I. This dwelling was erected around the Patio de los Arrayanes (Courtyard of the Myrtles), and its side exits lead to the Sala de los Embajadores (Hall of Ambassadors) and the Sala de la Barca (Hall of the Boat). The Hall of Ambassadors is located inside the Tower of Comares. - The Palace of the Lions, dating back to the era of Muhammed V, is also a royal residence. It is composed of a central courtyard, the Courtyard of the Lions, and halls along each side, the Hall of the Mocarabes, the Hall of the Kings, the Hall of the Two Sisters, the Hall of the Ajimeces, leading on to the mirador Daraxa viewpoint, and the Hall of the Abencerrajes, along with the Harem.
The Generalife is composed of a series of large gardens, where every corner holds a novelty and a pleasant surprise for the eyes, with a minimum of obtrusive buildings.
The Alcazaba plainly served a military function. The entrance to the Alcazaba was at the foot of the Tower of Homage . At the base of the tower is a slight slope. A simple L-shaped walkway keeps the main gate from being seen from the outside.

A superb tour by our guide, Fernando, of what can only be described as the stunningly beautiful and outstanding gardens and palaces of Alhambra. Our guide Fernando was excellent; polite, fluent in English and shared with us the history of “his office” also know as Alhambra. Perfect day out.!
What a wonderfully informative and beautiful tour. So worth having a guide (Alain) to take us through time and space to understand Alhambra.
The Alhambra is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and is one of the most visited sites in the world. We bought tickets 3 months in advance to tour the Alhambra, Nasrid Palace, Alcazaba, Palace of Charles V and Generalife Place/Gardens. Granavision’s guide Antonio Villalobos was extremely knowledgeable about the site, history and the culture, over 3.5 hrs he patiently explained the history of the site!
It costs double the price of the official site. It is a fraud, i highly recommend to buy make sure you buy the tickets on the oficial site
Reservation 340748432 cost 138.34. For 2 people. The ticket included an Italian guide for the tour. They wrote to us the same day that the guide was not available and that (also via WhatsApp) they would refund the difference after 15 days. As of today, no refund. I do not consider an agency that charges about 70 euros per person for not providing the service to be serious. Negative experience
Great experience, our guide Alain made the tour even more interesting proving professional friendly and exhaustive. I recommend this tour to everyone
Sensational almost 4h guided tour through the whole Al Hambra with tour guide Carlos Senano, who delighted us with his Basel German
Carlos accompanied us with punctuality professionalism and sympathy illustrating two and a half centuries of history of the Nasirids and Andalusia
Our German speaking guide Carlos Serrano guided us in a small group perfectly and also very personally through the Alhambra with the beautiful gardens.
A tour of the alhambra in perfect French by Hector, great and very interesting guide
Hector our guide knew through the history of Spain and his judicious and tasty comments bring us to Paradise of the Alhambra! I highly recommend it!
Booked the wrong date by mistake. Called immediately and provided explanation. However, the company did not intend to refund the tickets. So be aware that a typo will cost you 60 euros in administration costs, which are absolutely ridiculous. Find a reliable company if you want tickets for Alhambra
Thank you very much for the great leadership from Ms. Rosa. It conveys concentrated culture and history in 3 hours. 😊👍 JJ from Team Vintage Roadtrip
Guided tour with Marco guide. The tour lasted 3 hours and thanks to the guide we were able to relive the customs and traditions of the times of the Alhambra , the gardens and the Generalife. Fortunately we were in a small group of 6 people of various ages and Marco was very nice and engaging with everyone, explaining clearly and answering every question to and curiosity. Great experience that I recommend!
tour with audioguide booked with visit to Nasrid palace. We had a ticket at 1pm and were asked to come to their office at 12.45pm. We were there at 12:45 sharp. We then got an entrance ticket on which the entrance to Nasrid palace at 12pm was provided. When we asked them about it, the answer was: walk but then you will still be allowed in. At 12.59pm we were allowed to enter idd just after a spurt over the whole domain. Audioguide started via the app, it failed when we went to the 2nd part. Alhambra itself is top but not for us anymore via Granavision.
Excellent tourist experience at the Alhambra with Italian guide Daniele. Nice, but above all very prepared. Really recommended!
