Cancelled our visit to the Alhambra the night before we were due to visit. The main reason we were holidaying in Granada. Disgraceful.

Itinerary
The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex, constructed in AD 889 on the remains of Roman fortifications, and then largely ignored until its ruins were renovated and rebuilt in the mid-13th century by the Nasrid emir Mohammed ben Al-Ahmar of the Emirate of Granada, who built its current palace and walls. Thanks to a professional guide, you will learn this and many more important facts about this complex. In addition, you will be able to visit the different buildings that comprise the Alhambra, while you learn in the most pleasant way!
It is a villa that dates from the beginning of the 14th century and was used as a summer Palace by the Nasrid rulers of the Emirate of Granada in Al-Andalus
The Palace of Carlos V is the former residence of the emperor, in Renaissance style, with a large interior patio.
The Gardens of the Adarves are so named because they are located on the lower walkway of the fortress and it is one of the places from which you can admire one of the most beautiful landscapes in the city.

Natalia was an amazing guide. Long-ish tour and she managed to keep us engaged, together, and moving. Thank you!
Sandra, our guide was excellent! She made the history come to life. La Alhambra is an amazing place to see.
The tour company canceled our tour of Alhambra and Nasrid Palace a week before the date, leaving everyone stranded and without tickets (which were impossible to get). I strongly recommend avoiding this company.
We booked the tour of Alhambra with Nasrid Palace eight weeks before our visit on 11th October. Two weeks before the visit, we were informed that the schedule was changed to 11th October and there would be NO Nasrid Palace (important part of our visit). We tried other agents but by then Alhambra was fully booked. Our holiday was completely ruined. Be warned, do not book with this agent. Sadly I only read the reviews after my booking.
Was very disappointed in this tour. I had searched for a long time for a guided tour that included the Nasrid Palaces, and we were able to meet up with the guide easily, which I was worried about having read other reviews here. However despite being advertised as an English tour, it was bilingual and our guide Sandra spent most of the time speaking in Spanish and only translating very little into English. As a Spanish speaker, I know she only translated about 20% of her explanation into English, leaving the rest of my family very bored. This is my second time visiting the Alhambra, and compared to the previous tour I went on, Sandra also did not explain sufficiently about the Nasrid period when the Alhambra was built and gave random facts about its modern history instead. All in all, we were disappointed in this service and would not recommend it to first time travellers.
A very nice walk through the Alhambra and the palaces. A lot of information that was conveyed entertainingly.
My tour was cancelled. I travel from New York to get the Alambra tour. We were at the door waiting for our tour guide, and it was cancelled at the last minute. It was really disappointment.
Viator never provided the tickets and the “guide” never showed up. We paid plane tickets, rental car and lodging in vain- could not enter the Alhambra. We had paid in full Four months ago! What a scam!!!
We booked the Alhambra and Nasrid Palaces with Headout, an American company, partnered with Amigo Tours in Spain at a much greater cost (€42) than the official website (€19) which was fully booked. We were en route to the site by bus when I noticed a text message from an unknown number. It arrive two hours earlier stating that “We are sorry to inform that due to a last minute logistic incidence we will not be able to offer you the tour today”. We were devastated having travelled to Granada especially to see it. We met the Amigo guide there who could not help. She advised us she had capacity for 30, had tickets for 14…9 arrived and there were 5 no shows. She has no record of our tickets for the same time slot and we couldn’t use the others tickets as the site is very strict about access with official ID. Having had time to wait around I met other guides who told me that Amigo are renowned for problems, they book the tickets for the client (who paid weeks in advance) at the last minute and then miss the designated slots-the site was fully booked so we had no alternative option to see it during our visit. The only consolation was that we were refunded promptly.
For the 2nd time Viator just cancelled my confirmed and paid for tour. This time we came all the way to Granada to see the Alhambra and on the morning of my 11:30 am tour they cancelled. No other tickets to be purchased. I will never use Viator again. (First time was trying to see Michaelangelo’s David - no notification of cancellation until 2 days later!) Terrible to be so unreliable when customer is traveling so far to see the sight. Try Tours by Locals or some other company instead.
I booked with Amigos tours through a travel agent. I arrived at the guide meeting line at 7:40 am as instructed. My tour guide never showed. The travel agent called them but they said they made a mistake. I was able to gain entrance to the grounds with my passport, and could wander the grounds on my own and get into the other parts of Alhambra, but as the other very helpful guides told me, the important thing at Alhambra is the national palace, and you have to have an entrance time to get in. So I had no guide and no palace entrance. No communication with me at all. If I come back I will book directly with the tour group, but it certainly won’t be Amigo Tours
Guide company Amigo Tours had no record from Viator of us even though we showed the Viator tickets ( that were downloaded) and proof of payment. We could not go on tour. Absolute nightmare. Viator agreed to refund our money but it was impossible to find replacement tickets. So we travelled from USA to Granada and couldn’t see the Alhambra. Will never use an OTA like Viator again. As far as Amigo Tours goes they showed no interest in helping us find replacement tickets.
We had a really nice and knowledgeable tour guide, Natasha Nieves. She really knows her stuff about the Alhambra and the Generalife. The castle tour at the end was awesome too. Really great views of the entire area. Overall, I would rate it as the top tour I had in Spain.
Nasrid Palace, our guides isabella and guida. They were very accommodating with our questions and pictures
Very nice guided tour in Generalife and Alhambra at a quiet pace. Nice views, interesting information and wonderfull stories told by our guide.
The guide was pretty good. But she spoke really fast and it all felt rushed. I booked a tour in English but when we arrived we found out it was going to be in Spanish also. So she had to repeat everything twice. We were supposed to end the tour where we began but she dropped us some place and gave directions how to get back. It was a little confusing. It was a decent tour but I expected a better tour for the price.
Completely unclear that we didn't have access to the Nasrid palaces. Terrible experience where it looks like you are okay but really aren't and it's completely unclear. I wouldn't mind paying extra bucks if need be
Well led and informative tour of the Generalife and Alhambra. Natasha’s English was excellent and audio system works well
Natasha made the tours interesting and detailed while staying very attentive to our group and our questions. She was very skilled with language, and her English was excellent. The listening aids really made the tour feel immersive.
We selected the only English tour slot of the day out of many others in Spanish. This company added two Spanish speakers to our tour group and changed it to bilingual. The guide rushed to cover both and was much more comfortable in Spanish so she skipped a lot of the detail in English. It was a very frustrating experience as she bounced back and forth sometimes every other sentence and sometimes by paragraph, causing guests to tune out or miss content.
Got two hours before a message that we cannot take part in the tour and now we don't even get our money back!
This company's communication was terrible, the meeting place description was so vague we ended up missing the tour despite arriving early to look for them and they refused to credit us for another tour.
The grounds were amazing and this is a must see however the tour was very unorganized and our group was too large. The area is so crowded, it made it very difficult to find out guide. At the last minute we received an email advising us the Nasrid Palaces part of our tour was canceled with no explanation why and no offer of a partial refund, until I asked. (We’ll see if that actually happens) The tour we booked was for an ENGLISH speaking tour, we received a bilingual tour which was fine but it took a bit longer to get through the tour. The tour guide was nice but I would have liked a bit more “history” about the Alhambra.
This was my birthday present this year so needed to be a good experience. Our guide Ana was perfect - very pleasant, professional and knowledgable. We were a small group of 9on the tour. My husband and I throughly enjoyed the day and would recommend the tour and Ana our guide very highly.
Wonderful gardens and architecture. The guide was excellent and provided many facts and brought the history to life
Vincent - great guide! Pedagogic and very updated on Alhambra. We enjoyed the experience so much! Our best recommendations’
The weather was perfect. Our guide Vicente was very good. Provided lots of detailed & interesting information & history. We highly recommend this tour. TIP: don’t forget your passports as the Alhambra security is very strict.
The tour guide did not show up and Viator has still not refunded us the 216 dollars we paid for a small group English Tours. They subcontracted to AmiginTours in Granada and there is no response from them either. The female tour guide, Ina, from Amigo Tours apologized profusely and assured we would be refunded. We will file a complaint with our bank and the Better Business Bureau. The Alhambra was the reason we came to Granada and we are really furious that we didn't get to go, and the tour company has not responded to us..
Our guide was more than exceptional. His passion and love for The Alhambra was contagious. His explanations were presented in such an interesting way. The Alhambra is an amazing piece of history brought to life by an amazing guide Jorge Carrillo Vázquez.
I don't really know how to rate this experience because we didn't get to go on it. We are supposed to have a tour guide at 8 AM, we called because we couldn't find anybody that was our guide and they had said that they emailed us the night before to cancel but we did not get it. We got a full refund but it was still frustrating because we had showed up so early. Luckily we were able to get tickets while we were there, but they didn't include the palaces unfortunately.
My friends and I spent two weeks in Portugal and Spain, and our trip to Alhambra was by far our favorite part of the entire journey! This is 100% thanks to our tour guide George, who was extremely knowledgeable about the palace, the gardens, and the history of Granada as a whole. He told us several (true!) stories about the palace as we walked through the complex that helped us truly appreciate the history of the region and the human lives that were lived in these walls. I can't recommend this tour any more, and I'd recommend you request George if you can!
Hello, I send you this mail after buying in your internet website 6 tickets to visit la Alhambra Granada. In deed, 10 days ago we went to Granada at 11:30 to start the visit. There were a lot of people in the meeting point and we didn’t find the tour guide. We ask to many people but impossible to find amigos tour. That s why I decided to call them. Nobody answers. After 10 minutes they answer and tell me that the tour guide is inside la Alhambra with our tickets and my operator explains she has no way to contact the guide tour and no way to send us by mail our tickets…We were ready to buy new tickets to visit alone la Alhambra but we couldn’t because all the tickets were sold. So, we drove for 3 hours we lost 185 euros and didn’t visit la Alhambra with our 4 children. I sent a mail to amigos tour and they answer that they don’t want to do anything. I remind you that when I took in your site web my 6 tickets you asked me my phone number , my email … the guide tour never tryed to call us before going inside la Alhambra !!! That s why I would like you to pay us back this 185 euros . Amigos tour are robbers!!!when I read the opinions about amigos tour I am surprised you work with them!!! I hope you will be as professional as your reputation. I join a picture of our reservation.
DO NOT BOOK AMIGO TOURS! you will be left standing waiting for a guide that does net arrive!!! A group of 12 people were left stranded and we all booked with AMIGO tours who are fighting to get a refund from Trip Advisor!
The Alhambra was magnificent. The tour was a good introduction into its architectural and historical wonder. We covered a surprisingly large area but did not visit the palaces as this element of the tour was not included. We would definitely return for a more leisurely visit as there is so much to see and be amazed by. It was very hot but the guide paced the tour well and there were shady areas / we had a break where you could rest/get a drink. Our guide was brilliant, informative, relaxed and kind. She managed the whole tour really professionally. Her english was excellent and if I were to visit Granada again I would be thrilled to have her as my guide as her knowledge of Granada overall is exceptional.
The title "Alhambra, Generalife Gardens and Nasrid Palaces with Priority Access" is NOT CORRECT. It did NOT include the Nasrid Palaces, which is the major site that sells out weeks (usually months!) in advance. The company this is through is called Amigo Tours and they're so disorganized. The tour guide took us to the Gardens and Summer Palace, which was fine, but you should know you're not getting the "main" thing when booking this tour. I couldn't figure out how to request a partial refund through Viator OR Amigo Tours, so I'm leaving this review instead! Only book this if you are ok with the possibility of NOT getting the Nasrid Palice included in your ticket!!! Some other disorganization issues: First of all, it was extremely hard to LOCATE the tour when you arrive - you definitely want to show up early, as you will need to ask around to every guide until you find them. It's a little stressful but keep asking (there is no "Amigo Tour" sign or anything like that, you just go up to guides and ask for Amigo Tours). Next, the poor guide was not informed that we were all expecting to see the Nasrid Palaces. He didn't work for the Amigo Tours, he was outsourced by them. The tour guide was really great, and I felt bad he had to deal with all of us (around 15 different people) being upset that we didn't get the tour we were expecting. That said, I did enjoy the tour and the grounds were beautiful. Again, only book this if you're okay with possibly not seeing the Nasrid Palace.
I highly recommend you don't book with them, very unreliable and worst most rude customer services ever. We weren't able to see Alhambra which we always dreamed of because of the poor management of this company and we weren't even reimbursed.
The tour was good, and the guide knew a lot. But she spoke extremely fast, and it was difficult even for us to follow, let alone the non-English-as-a first-language people
This experience was excellent and informative. Our guide was knowledgeable and went along at a good pace.
Our tour guide was Juan. He was great at organising the group and dealing with the tour in Spanish and English. He was very helpful, engaging and made the tour informative and fun. Thanks! Alhambra itself is amazing and worth the visit to Spain alone.
The Alhambra is very nice. However this tour doesn’t include the Nazires palace which everyone says is the best. Hence, I believe the tour is too expensive. The online ticket is £7, however you need to get the online tickets in advance (2 months in advance) or try to be lucky and get it the same day (online too). If you are too late to get them on the official site, try to get the “Granda card” which includes many more attractions- unfortunately it was too late for us but it’s definitely worthy. Nevertheless, this is a good option if you want to have a guide. We had a nice time and the guide (Juan) was super nice. Having a guide made a big difference for us, specially since the tour was in both languages (Spanish-English).
Gabriela was very informative. I was very impressed with how she made sure to keep all 30 of us informed in two languages without missing a beat. She was a delight - charismatic, entertaining, and answered everyone’s questions.
The Nasrid palace was simply amazing and well preserved and well worth the trip. The Alcazaba was just a fortified barracks with a lookout tower, great views but nothing else. The gardens were very peaceful but I have seen better. The food options were very poor and for a sight that size there was not even a proper restaurant were you could get a proper meal. The other very annoying thing was that every time you went into a different area you had to show your ticket and passport.
Our tour with Jorge was very interesting and engaging. Jorge is a highly educated language professor and he was very knowledgeable about the history of the Alhambra thus he made this tour very interesting for us. He was the best tour guide and perfect for this tour of the Alhambra. I highly recommend this tour and hopefully you’ll also have Jorge as your guide.
Visiting the Alhambra and Generalife Gardens is something I've wanted to do for years and this trip was fantastic. Our Viator guide, Gabriella, was brilliant and incredibly knowledgeable. It was definitely worth booking the priority access as the Alhambra is visited by thousands of people every day, and we didn't have to queue for anything. I'd thoroughly recommend this to anyone visiting Granada.
The whole tour was excellent done by Gabriela, our tour guide. However, we were disappointed that we could not see the Lions garden. The guide told us this was not part of the tour. This is true. However, if a person who does not know the names of the the whole buildings, how can I know that the Nazari building was exactly the most buitiful part of the whole Alhambra? If one books for the Alhambra and the Generalife, I expect to see the whole complex. The title of this tour should be Alhambra except the most important building and the Generalife.
Probably one of the most beautiful buildings we have ever visited and our guide was excellent .This is a wonderful place to visit and it is well worth having a guide
A fantastic tour of the Palace and Gardens. Gabriela our tour guide was brilliant. Very informative and very good at answering any question that came up from the group. Also the dual-language (English & Spanish in the same group) format also worked very well. Thoroughly recommended!
This tour takes you everywhere except where you probably want to go at the Alhambra--the Nasrid Palaces, which is where all the amazing photos of the site come from. Our guide was knowledgeable and the tour was three hours--much longer and detailed that I had expected. PLEASE NOTE--I also signed us up to tour the Nasrid Palaces on a separate Viator tour and Viator messed it up totally-- giving us a 3 pm time when the tour went at 12noon and not apologizing for their clear mistake. They said they had called us twice that day, but we had no such calls on our cell phones. I was incredibly disappointed not to see the highlight of the site. I think the best thing to do is to NOT use Viator at all and book directly with the site, in which you are assured of seeing EVERYTHING, and the site will have a registry of your reservation so that you are secure in knowing that you will have a full and enjoyable visit.
An amazing place and beautiful. Our guide, Natasha, told the history of Granada and the Alhambra so well which brought the place to life for us. We want to return for another visit in the future. We opted for the early morning tour which we recommend as it was obviously cooler but it initially it wasn’t so busy.
