Jana was an amazing guide one of the best we’ve been with on our trip through Portugal and Spain. She was engaging very knowledgeable, very friendly and very professional. We loved our tour of the La Hambra and highly recommend this tour. Excellent! Oh

The Alhambra, located on the Sabica hill, is an Andalusian palatine city. Its name comes from the reddish colour of its walls, coming from the clay of the land itself (Al-Hamra in Arabic). It is formed by a group of palaces, gardens and fortress where there was a citadel within the city of Granada itself, its main function was to serve as accommodation for the monarch and the court of the Nasrid Kingdom of Granada. There are also Christian settlements, such as the palace of Charles V and the church of Santa Maria, built on top of the old mosque. It is one of the most visited monuments in Spain and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1984. Enjoy the visit with an official guide.
Carlos V's palace is a Renaissance construction by the architect Pedro Machuca. The palace is unique in its style, forming a square with a circular courtyard inscribed inside. It is the most outstanding work of the Spanish Renaissance.
The Generalife is the villa with gardens used by the Muslim kings of Granada as a place of retreat and rest. It was conceived as a rural villa, where ornamental gardens, orchards and architecture were integrated in the vicinity of the Alhambra. The name we give to the Generalife complex literally means Yannat al-Arif: "The Architect's Garden", an allusion to the gardens and orchards that supplied fruit and vegetables to the Nasrid court. However, the palace to which we are heading, designed as a resting place for the monarch, was what the poet Ibn al-Jayyab called "the royal house of happiness".
The Alcazaba is the oldest part of the Alhambra, from the Arabic: القصبة al-qaṣbah (citadel) was a fortified enclosure of urban character, whose function was to serve as royal residence to Mohamed I until the Palaces were finished, from there its function was purely military.

Complete Scam! Avoid at all costs! Says the Tour is for the Alhambra, Generalife Palace, gardens and Alcazaba. However, when you get to the end of the tour, by the entrance to the Generalife gardens, you find out that: You need a seperate ticket for the Generalife Gardens and can’t access them afterall! Let alone have a guided tour around them. Having then trekked back the 10-15 minute walk to the main ticket office, they inform you that you can’t buy a ticket on the day as it is sold out! The tour also didn’t go in the Alcazaba. You basically pay to listen to a guide take you round the completely FREE bits of the complex. The Tour operator (My Top Tour) looked at the Viator tickets in their office before the tour started, as we wanted to check where the meeting point was, but didn’t say anything at the start of the tour that the description was wrong. Had it been pointed out at that stage, although I would have been annoyed I probably would have bought the extra tickets needed there and then. Instead they just told us to go and wait at the meeting point. Then at the end of the tour, when went back to their office and complained they blamed Viator for an incorrect description of the Tour. Viator also stated at booking that my 12 year old should pay an adult rate. My Top Tour counts an adult as 14. So a nice tidy little side commission for someone there too! To add insult to injury, the guide told us there were 2 exhibitions in the Charles V palace which were free to access. So, having had a snack, we thought we’d visit those to assuage the disappointment of not being able to get into the Generalife. They weren’t free. They were 20euros each to get in. So another waste of time and the feeling you are just being fleeced at every turn. Complete con. Would have given 0 stars except that the guide, to give her her due, was quite interesting and informative and the description isn’t her fault. Next time I will only book via the main Alhambra website. Such a shame as the Alhambra complex is truly amazing. Just go look at the free bits yourself and don’t waste your money with these scammers.
Although the description stated that the tour included a guided visit to the Alhambra, the Generalife, and the Alcazaba, this was essentially a lie. The tour only covered the areas of the Alhambra that are freely accessible and that I could have visited on my own without purchasing a ticket. It is shameful to mislead people like this.
The Alhambra is incredible and the guide was knowledgeable but sometimes it was hard to follow the information, it jumped around. The fee was very reasonable considered it included the entrance and guided visit, even when the entrance tickets were sold out. The length of the tour was good to leave time to explore on your own but the Alhambra deserves more time and information to really cover its history. The group size was reasonable. Sometimes it was hard to hear the guide because the audio device would disconnect or lose the reception because of other groups. Expect crowds.
An excellent tour of the Alhambra. Sandra was a fantastic guide with great historical knowledge and useful recommendations. Check in process was slow due to issues with customers ahead of us in a long queue. This also led to a late start to our tour.
Don’t choose My top tour since they sell fake tickets! We had bought our tickets for a full guided tour and when we got there they said there was a mistake and we had no tickets!!! Travelled all the way to Granada, had planned everything right to visit Alhambra and they just cancelled us! Terrible experience and even worse customer support.
We forgot to book early and ended up with a 5pm tour that we thought was bad timing as it was the hottest part of the day. We ended up with a completely private tour for just the two of us with Valery. Her English language skills were superb along with her local knowledge. Her passion for Alhambra shone through especially as she told us about the recent closure of the tower due to earth quake crack! The breeze kept the tour really comfortable as Valery taught us more about the culture and history. We hope she gets her wedding at the Alhambra ;)
Beautiful grounds and palace! Our guide Arturo was patient and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend this tour!
Absolutely a rip off. The description of the sold tour was so vague that everyone in the tour was astounded of this useless tour, just seeing some trees!!! Waste of time and money.
The reason I have given a low rating is because the tour did not include the Nazrid Palaces, the thing that I and everyone most wants to see at the Alhambra. The website is very confusing - for the tour I booked (Alhambra Guided Tour: Ticket with Licensed Guide), it says "Nasrid Palaces (if you choose this option)", but when you book the tour, there's no opportunity to choose that option, and as soon as I completed the process I was stuck with what I'd committed to. I thought I was on the official website for the Alhambra but I wasn't, it was a private tour company called My Top Tour, and the confirmation email came from Al-Andalus Tours. Another private operator. There was no chance to update the booking or add the Nazrid Palace option, including on the day when you meet the people from My Top Tour and it's too late because there are no places left. So I went to the Alhambra in Granada and never got to see the Nazrid Palaces. Which is like going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower, or going to Cairo and not seeing the Pyramids. Why are tours being offered to the Alhambra that don't include the best part? Is it to deceive careless tourists like me? To keep the numbers down at the Nazrid Palaces while keeping the money coming in? Yes I should have been more careful when I booked the tour, but the website does not make things clear. They need to fix their website and their offerings so that every tour either definitely DOES or definitely DOES NOT include the Nazrid Palaces. I would have been happy to pay more money for a tour that did include the Nazrid Palaces, had I known what was going to happen. The guide Andrea was good, but the tour was supposed to be 2-4 hours, and it was over in just over an hour - the Alcazaba was closed, so I didn't even get to see that. Hugely disappointing. I will never get another chance to go back to Granada in my lifetime.
The tour in 18th Aug 2026 at 10:30-11:00 have been cancelled because of earthquake circumstances at the region and safety just at the beginning, and we could not get back any info but the Viator company did not notice us and refund our payment…
Friendly local tour guide with a nice sense of humor. Ventura, our guide, welcomed questions and shared many stories and much history. We highly recommend this tour.
Too many people in the group and you can’t hear the tour guide plus she’s walking ahead and talking about things that, if you’re in the back oh the group, you can’t see what she’s talking about
Terrible organization A total confusion in trying to get the tickets Didn’t even include the main Palace WY over priced I am pissed off as hell I’m trying to get a refund We never had such a stressed out day What a scam
The guide knew less about the Alhambra than I did. All the information from the guide was already known to me and the guide didn't tell a couple of important things about the Alhambra. The guide didn't pay attention to where everybody of our (small, 9 people) group was so I was always far behind. Sometimes the guide was so far ahead that I lost reception on my headset.
The views of the castle, gardens, and Sierra Nevada mountains are amazing. Lots of walking. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
This tour is a rip off. It says Alhambra but does not include most of the important sites of the Alhambra. You do not get the Patio of Lions or Patio de Comares or any of the places that you see in pictures. Instead you get the Palace of Charles V which is free to the public. Very disappointing that Viator would resell this tour. I want my money back.
STAY AWAY — this is a scam. This is not the official Alhambra website. They may not say it directly, but the site is designed to make people believe it is official. They charge five or six times more than the official price, claiming the extra cost is for “customer service,” which in my experience was extremely poor or practically nonexistent. Use the official website instead: https://www.alhambra-patronato.es/ Please check for yourself before buying. My family was scammed, and I don’t want the same thing to happen to yours. Save your family from this.
Do not ever book a tour or buy tickets through them. They are a SCAM. They are the first on the list in the google search, but if you do some research in the prices, you will find they sell more than double-priced tickets. Unfortunately we did this after our visit to Alhambra. We were not able to go to Nasrid palaces - the main attraction, and we faced the fact at the arrival. We were part of a group of about 20 people, and the tourguide lady - Christina - said only two person will go with her to the complete tour, which includes the nasrid palaces. She also said she is doing these tours for 16 years. The others, including us were furious, but we could do nothing. And about the prices: the official site sells complete tickets for 22 euros, we bought it for 50 per person. We were not careful enough, they do this to hundreds/thousands of people constantly. I hope they will have a painful death, they deserve it.
One of the worst tour experiences we’ve ever had. I rarely write reviews, but in this case I genuinely feel it’s important to warn others. When we tried to book tickets to the Alhambra two months in advance, the official website redirected us to My Top Tour. As soon as they received our payment, we were flooded with emails—mostly in Spanish—which made communication unnecessarily difficult. Their app was also very confusing and not user-friendly. Things got worse when we arrived in Granada. Our tour time had been changed without proper notice. The company claimed they had contacted us via email and WhatsApp—but we don’t even have WhatsApp. When we questioned this, the staff became rude and dismissive instead of trying to resolve the issue. At one point, we even witnessed them throwing cash at an elderly couple who were asking for a refund after having their reservation mishandled. That alone was shocking and unprofessional. Unfortunately, the tour itself didn’t improve the experience. Our guide, who went by “Hannah,” openly stated she disliked hearing “Hannah Montana,” which set an odd tone from the start. She seemed frustrated and disengaged throughout. The tour felt rushed, questions were met with irritation, and several people’s audio devices kept cutting out. Rather than addressing the issue, she blamed the group for not keeping up. If you’re visiting the Alhambra and end up with this company, I strongly recommend skipping the guided tour and opting for an audio guide instead. At least you’ll be able to move at your own pace, actually hear the information, and enjoy the experience without feeling disrespected.
The guider leave before we arrive and that wasn’t clear on the instructions, we have arrive 4:06 and we found the group left
Your ads are misleading and purposely so. Your policies and practices are nothing less than predatory. Shame on you. I will avoid Viator at all costs will my future tours, and I travel consistently. Craig Mathers Craigorsamsa@aol.com .
To be avoided. The worse tour ever with an English guide fitted for 5 years old. The awful experience starts with a very long line to collect the tickets, a guide that is highly difficult to find and a guided tour with information adequate for small children in a huge group. A little like having Dora the explorer as a tour guide. The best way to spoil the experience of the Alhambra.
The message from Viator was not so clear announcing vouchers but the apply did not run well to get the tickets We had to meet at a local shop to get practical informations Meeting point ok The guide Fernando was really interesting Historical info and comments he delivered were super
Was really looking forward to our tour of the Almambra only to be told we could not visit the Nzsrid Palace, only the Generalife and Charles V palace. When you think of the Alhambra you do not think of the Nzsrid Palace, not gardens or dusky ruins (just look at the postcards). Guide told we should come again - not an option when travelling all the way from NZ for a once in a lifetime experience. So disappointed. Resigned to never seeing this sight. Tour / guide good but very much not what we were expecting. Recommend all travellers check what they are going to see. For us Top Tours or our Travel Agent have badly let us down.
Our guide Natalia was lovely. Unfortunately our group had a hard time getting going on time (bathroom stops, lost people and little kids in strollers not ideal for this trip). We were not able to stay for all the tour due to our train but what we experienced was great. Fun anecdotes.
Easy to book and organised when there . The tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the experience even better
Scam…sold tickets labelled saying Nasrid Palaces tour included and then turned out wasnt included. Exorbitant sum paid and then the disappointment. The tour guide however was absolutely fantastic.
Not worth the 18€ as you only go to the places that are already opened to everyone. The guide was inexperienced and did not add that much value to the tour unfortunately
Confusing and deliberately misleading webpage making it difficult to ascertain what tickets we had actually purchased from My Top Tours. This was only clarified after the transaction had been completed and our money taken. We are in dispute with the local tour operator about this and are seeking a full refund. To date, this company has not responded to any of my emails despite assurances from members of staff who dealt with us in person at the Alhambra office
Order tickets in error assuming Nasrid Palaces included - Customer Service inflexible and uncompromising despite contacting them within 12 h of booking
Natalia from My Top Tours was great. She was very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions when asked. The process from getting tickets to finding the guide went well.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS ORGANISATION Misleading website pretending to be official. Prices shown do not match the ticket value issued. Completely unacceptable. Price on the tickets different from the one charged on the bank account No response to my email and no answer phone calls. Very poor organisation. Avoid. We were going to book for a group of 45 in May
Terrible.... It was not clear that we did not receive or needed tickets and therefore we were not let into the venue I plan on reviewing your site on Google and making sure other customers know that they 1. Have to visit your offices prior (apparently for no reason, cause I even asked while there if we needed physical tickets) 2. Just because it is labeled skip the line.... doesn't mean this is turnkey and they should contact Alhambra first to ensure they have what is required
First i booked twice. The first time with a wrong date, which i MAY have typed myself, and I contacted My top tours immidiately but no mercy. Then i booked again and in both cases the tour is offered in different languages, among which are Spanish and English - but there are nowhere you get to choose the language until you have to pay and after you pay the languange is Spanish - no way to change it. I believe this is a violation of EU law since the product I bought is not in compliance with the one advertised. Further be aware that this offer does NOT include access to the Nasrid Palace which is the core of Alhambra. It costs extra which is annoying and dependent of the day and season, you may have to wait several hours to get in. Alhambra is fantastic, but stay away from these guys and book your tickets directly from alhambra.org. Further I wrote them twice about the language problem and no answer.
Very poor and unfair service. I made an honest mistake in my booking and accidentally selected January instead of December for a visit to Granada. I contacted them almost immediately to correct it, but they refused to change the date, refused to offer an alternative, and refused any refund. Their attitude was completely inflexible and unprofessional. In my opinion, this approach is unacceptable and likely breaches European consumer rights. I strongly recommend avoiding this company.
Jesus was an amazing tour guide. He answered all our questions and told amazing detailed stories about the history of Al Hambra
We have booked a tour for Alahambra surrondings but the day of the visit the guide did not show up and none was able to give us the ticket to go around by ourself. So in the end we paid and we couldn’t make use of the service!!!
This tour was a complete scam. I arrived at the designated meeting point at the specified time and waited, but no tour guide ever showed up. I tried calling the provided phone number multiple times on the day of the tour, and none of the calls were answered. There was absolutely no communication, no explanation, and no attempt to contact me before or after the scheduled start time. I wasted my time waiting and had to make alternative plans at the last minute. Even worse, Viator has not helped so far, and no refund has been issued, neither by the tour operator nor through Viator, despite the service never being provided. I strongly advise against booking this tour. Very disappointing experience and extremely unprofessional.
Overall tour experience was very good, our tour guide was great, described all details answered all questions. Tour description on Viator should be changed to tour of surrounding clearing rather than sending email day before.
Cheat, fraud, scam company. Stay away from them! They take your money. They use Google optimization to get the customers pay high price. The tickets are hard to get or might not get them at all. There is very bad customer service. Very disapointing!
Knowledgeable tour guide with lots of historical information about the site. meeting place was convenient to site
Fantastic experience. Our guide, Jesus Prieto , was great! Very professional and knowledgeable. Jesús really demonstrated a love for the story and history of this beautiful place. Highly recommend.
Awesome experience. We had an amazing tour guide. So much knowledge, gorgeous place. A must to visit in Granada
Jana was amazing. She took us throughout the Generalife, other areas in Alhambra, gave us so much politically-informed history, this tour was absolutely fantastic. Apart from being very knowledgeable (she was able to answer all our questions), she paused periodically, so we could wander, soak in the environment, take photos. The gardens are stunning, absolutely stunning. And the prototype of one of the Nasrid palaces was stunning. The views throughout are gorgeous - even the walk through the park to the complex is lovely. Even though we didn't get to see the Nasrid Palaces, we really didn't feel we missed out on anything.
We had a super giide. He explained all things well without unnecessary trivia. He showed ys all the view points. He certainly made it for us
The information on their website is misleading. It makes you buy Nasrid palaces entrance when you actually dont. If you scammers say that you have multiple options with or without Nasrid Palaces, where are both? Make the one that doesnt exist greyed out, so buyers understand. I can prove with pictures that you are misleading, making hundreds of thousands euros by people not understanding your website shop information. As a proof, why arent you willing to return the money when people realise they bought misleading tickets? Why is price 36 euro showing there when no option available for that cost?
Remember to carry your passports, and check whether you are booking the gardens only ir gardens with the palace. Booking through Viator sometimes confuses one wrt this last bit. On the day of my trip the guide from My Top Tours was Dante. He has a good style of storytelling, nice humour, and was attentive towards the different dynamics of the group. I was falling behind at times due to my leg pain, but when I caught up and asked him something he explained it clearly and patiently.
There are stairs to climb. If that is a problem you can’t go. Stairs cannot be avoided. The guide was very knowledgeable and nice.
Very bad service, site is not clear on what the ticket gives access to. And its is very expensive. Don't buy at Top Tour! You will loose money
