Our review is centred on the natural beauty of the Alhambra and then the skill with which we were told its magical story by Enrique. I’d recommend this guided tour to anyone wanting the English tour.

Itinerary
We will meet at a central point easily accessible around the Alhambra. Your Expert Official Guide will warmly welcome you and deliver your tickets to the monument. (The exact meeting place will be confirmed a few days before the visit to ensure maximum punctuality.)
We started the tour where the Sultans sought peace. We will enter the Generalife Palace, an oasis of water, light and lush vegetation. We will witness the Patio de la Acequia, where the hydraulic ingenuity of the Nasrids creates an unrivalled sound and visual spectacle. The atmosphere will allow us to perceive the aromas of the garden and enjoy the fountains without the feeling of being surrounded by crowds.
We will tour the Paseo de las Torres, where each fortification keeps its own legend and reveals the importance of the defensive system of the citadel. Afterwards, we will go into the remains of the Medina, the ancient Palatine city of the officials, where your guide will reveal stories, curiosities and the daily life of those who inhabited the Alhambra.
We pause in the Renaissance masterpiece that is the Palace of Charles V. We will admire the boldness of its circular architecture and its impressive courtyard. This palace is the symbol of the historical and cultural change of Granada and the monument.
We will explore the Alcazaba, the oldest military sector, from whose battlements you can enjoy the most impressive and photogenic views of the city, with the Albaicín at the foot and Sierra Nevada as a backdrop.
We reach the beating heart of the Alhambra. The visit to the Nasrid Palaces is a moment of pure wonder. We will contemplate the peak of Islamic art: from the perfection reflected in the Patio de los Arrayanes to the mystical stillness of the Patio de los Lions. Here, light and architecture come together in a dance of filigree, stucco and poetry. Prepare for a luxury finish, sublime beauty and unforgettable contemplation.

The Alhambra tour was extremely interesting. Our guide, Barha (probably misspelled, sorry!) was extremely knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. He provided historical information about the people, empires, religious differences and preferences, architecture, water sources and hydrology, botanical information, and basic observations that added so much more than we expected. Great tour and great guide! Highly recommend this for everyone visiting Granada.
Our tour guide, Cristina was amazing!!! She was very knowledgeable and considerate to all my family needs during our tour time. She made the experience memorable and wish to have her again for future tours in Granada.
The was of the Nasid, I enjoyed very much.
If you are staying in Granada city take a taxi to the Alhambra as it's uphill. The walk back through the tree lined pathway is a lovely stroll. We had a lovely tour guide, Natalia. The tour was very interesting. The Alhambra, it's gardens and views are breathtaking. Don't miss this if you are staying in or near Granada.
Enrique told us passionately about the Alhambra and its turbulent history! Thank you. We had a lovely air conditioned van. Would recommend booking early to get the Nasrid palace tickets but we still had an amazing tour.
Day started well, we arrived at the meeting point early, driver arrived and checked everyone's names off a list and we set off for Alhambra from Malaga. We were told we would not have free time in Granada as there was a race going on in the town that day, not a problem, we had breakfast at a restaurant outside the Alhambra. Tour guide met us at the designated meeting point and we took the guided tour of both the Alhambra & the Palace. Tour finished at 3.20pm & that is when the tour guide left, telling us to be at the meeting point for the return journey at 3.45pm. We went for a cold drink & then arrived at the meeting point at exactly 3.45pm as I checked my watch, there was no sign of the bus but just presumed it had been held up in traffic. After about 15 minutes was getting a bit concerned & at that point noticed that there was no-one we recognised from our bus in the morning. I then phoned Viator who tried phoning Discovering Spain but said they didn't answer and they would send an email. I waited for a response, at 4.22pm I started to get Whatsapp messages from Discovering Spain. They said that the guide accompanied everyone to the meeting point and the driver did a checklist & didn't leave until 3.54pm. All of that was a lie as the guide left us outside the Alhambra at 3.20pm and if the driver had done a checklist he would have realised we weren't there. We arrived at 3.45pm so he couldn't have left at 3.54pm. Outcome was we were told there was nothing they could do & to find our own way back to Malaga at our expense. Will never book with this company again.
Our guide Mercedes was excellent!
An AMAZING place to see! Not ideal for children under 13 years of age. Our tour guide’s technology was not the best with the headphones intermittently working and had a Spanish accent that at times made it difficult to understand.
A wonderful tour! The 3 hours flew by with Vicente our very knowledgeable tour guide! A must do in Granada!
I missed the tour despite being at the Alhambra and hour early and waiting with an English language group for the appropriate time because the tour operator had changed the meeting place at the last moment. The problem with tours is the difficulty in located the correct guide as there are large crowds and the guides do not identify themselves adequately. The venue will not provide a ticket purchased through a tour company. I queued where the company indicated and was refused a ticket. It took an hour of queuing, arguing and calling the tour operator to receive an individual ticket to enter the Alhambra.
This is a truly unique experience our guide was well versed and well spoken the trip was amazing around the Alhambra had a really good time
Fabulous! Loved the tour. Ruth our guide was knowledgeable and fun. The pace she maintained was great with time 4 photos and even rest when it got too hot
Cristina, our guide was very both professional and friendly throughout the tour. Our meeting was easy to find and the tour started on time. As a small group of 8 people and with our audio headsets, it was simple to hear and follow Cristina through the crowd to learn about and see the highlights of the beautiful Alhambra.
The tour was amazing. I've been to the Alhambra many times, but Sandra showed us things that I'd never seen before. She was great.
The guide Ana was excellent, very professional, the trip was very pleasant and organized . I enjoyed this trip very much
The tour was excellent. The guide “Enrique” was very knowledgeable and friendly. Recommend bringing own ear buds. Tour was a little over 3 hours.
The mini bus picked us up on time. The guide in Granada was knowledgeable and the tour was interesting. You don’t have a lot of free time, but more than some tours.
This was a great tour - the guide was very knowledgeable and engaging at a good pace to allow time to linger in some areas of more interest. It also seemed that the organized tour groups had priority getting through lines at each area, making the tour very streamlined and less stressful. I’m sure an audio guide would be fine but the experience of having a guide to ask questions is invaluable.
Juan was so knowledgeable & engaging in this tour. The palace was the highlight & interesting history & architecture.
Tour guide kept everything on schedule. Told us a lot and I enjoyed the speed at which the tour proceeded. A beautiful experience that I enjoyed a lot.
The place is beautiful but the tour operators were completely disorganized, late and cancelled our tour at the very last minute. We had initially booked the tour 2 months in advance. The tour guide messaged us to confirm that all was well and to arrive at the designated time of arrival (15 minutes prior).!upon arrival, there was no sign of our guide. Once it came time for our tour, we had to contact the main office to see what was going on, to which the reply was an excuse that the guide was picking up people from the parking lot. After 45 minutes of waiting, the guide finally arrived with a large group of people. At that point he called my party and said that they had overbooked and for us to do a regular tour with an audio guide. When I asked why, he was all agitated and said that they had too many people and we would get a partial refund anyway. At that point I couldn’t believe it and was told to call the office which delayed our tour even longer. Finally, after 1.5 hours delay we were able to go on our tour, by ourselves. The person at the office was extremely apologetic and asked for our understanding since they were a small company just starting out. Never again booking with viator
The Alhambra was, of course, beautiful. However, at least in September, the tours were very overcrowded which was unpleasant. The tour felt rushed and it was very difficult to hear despite the individual earphones provided as the guide was very soft spoken and the earphones did not work well. Unfortunately, we didn’t feel the guide assigned was a good educator. The guide struggled to speak to the larger group vs a few individuals and overall disinterest developed. Our group has taken many group guided tours at museums and archaeological locations in many countries so our expectations were that the guide assigned would be better suited to guide a larger group as we’ve previously experienced. The self-guided tours where you can listen and explore at your own pace with a pre-recorded listening device would have suited our group better for this experience.
Our guide Sow was so very helpful from the onset of our booking. He had so much knowledge to share and with the VIP skip the line entrance tickets it was so easy to beat the long long queues. A 15 min break was provided to refresh. The stunning history provided by our guide Sow was second to non. Definitely highly recommended
Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, which enhanced our trip. Nasrid palace did not disappoint, it was stunningly beautiful. Very enjoyable and informative four hours.
My visit to the Alhambra was absolutely fantastic. The tour agent managed everything with great care, even calling us 20 minutes before the tour to help us find the meeting point. The equipment provided worked perfectly. What stood out the most was our guide, a historian professor, who was incredibly detailed. He focused on the most important aspects within the available time and answered every question we had. Considering the number of sites to explore, the time constraints, and the security measures required to enter each building, the experience was well worth the cost. Excellent value for money! WARNING: Please bring your passport or ID card (they will remind you of this beforehand) as you could face issues with the strict security measures. This isn’t the tour agent’s fault, but it might delay the group visit or even result in you being left behind. My daughter forgot her ID, but the staff managed to make an exception, which we greatly appreciated, though it could have gone wrong.
This Alhambra Day Trip was from Málaga, and it was really well organized. Everything from the coach bus, to the tours of all the palaces, went smoothly. And the tours were great! I chose the option to add the Nazaries Palaces, and was glad I did. This was another beautiful part of the tour. I give kudos to our tour guide. She was extremely knowledgeable, and was even kind enough to take photos of us. The only thing I would have liked, is a little more time in Granada to walk around and shop. But I realize we were on a schedule. This was truly a worthwhile trip, and is definitely a MUST DO!
Given the price to get into to the Alhambra is not that much, to pay €160 for a guide and a coach from Malaga is extortionate. I thought it would be special as I booked for the small number tour. 1. there is no rep for the coach. The driver, who doesn't speak English, does the pick up at Malaga and then blasts on the radio. 2. there is a pointless stop in Granada for an hour. We picked up one woman who then was a half hour late getting on the bus back. We were left to our own devices for an hour in Granada main town, half of which I spent trying to get a sandwich (see 3. below) 3. you are strongly advised to bring food. Not necessary at all. There are plenty of outlets at the Alhambra, including the very nice Parador. 4. Define a small group? I got the impression it was a group of no more than 8. It was double that and got very complicated as people had different bookings. People were grumbling about the chaos. Not just me. 5. The guide, who eventually met us at the Alhambra, was disorganised. She never gave us an overview of our trip, or an overview of the history of the Alhambra and spent time trying to find some very late arrivals. No, if you're late, you've missed it. Sorry. 6. Lots of queueing and passport showing - which was much worse as we were a group so it took a long time My advice? The Alhambra is NOT to be missed, but get a train or a bus there and go around on your own. I don't think the guide added much and she wasn't particularly engaging or engaged.
Our guide, Sow, was definitely the star of the tour. His knowledge about the history of Al Hambra was amazing, and he spoke clearly and calmly. The pace of the tour was just right and the breaks were right on time. I recommend this tour and Sow very highly.
We met our guide Angela Rebora Garcia at the meeting point. She guided us around Generalife, Alcazaba and the Nasrid Palaces, her knowledge and enthusiasm made the tour extremely enjoyable. Angela answered any questions we had during the 3 hours it took to visit all the areas. I would thoroughly recommend this tour.
Jesus was a great guide and shared his insight into the amazing history of the Alhambra development and wonderful gardens and architecture
Excellent tour and the knowledge of the guide was AMAZING. Thanks for showing us around. This helped us really enjoy the trip
Natalia was a great tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and responsive to questions from the group. She made rhe visit to the Alhambra truly magical.
We had a pleasant trip , very thoroughly and professionally organized, went all smooth even with a rescheduling. The two minor points to consider are the Alhambra tickets are of different kind, with or without Nasrid Palace, with Guide, with Audio guide, which made the understanding difficult of what we got at the end (we chose the full access with Audio guide and was ok for us) The driver doesn't speak English and does not interact with passengers during the 1hr 30min drive from Málaga and back. Would have been nice to have someone that had the knowledge in order to answer some questions along the way. Over all as long as you clarify what are you getting with the ticket to avoid disappointment the experience is enjoyable. The time given at the Alhambra is 4hrs which is just right. There is a brief stop in Granada of about 45min. Strongly suggest to buy your lunch there to eat later on Alhambra gardens as there are very limited options onsite.
The sultana premises. Her garden and view on the city. Inner plastered walls with suras and magnificant wooden cealings. Mr. Saw, our guide was very knowledgable and extreemly devoted to the job. He enjoyed it with us every moment and he lead us through the history and legends like through wonderful fairtale. Well done Mr Saw.
Hannah (Ana in Spanish??) had a great amount of knowledge and just the right amount of energy to keep me engaged and interested the entire 3.5 hours. Some guides are over the top with hyper enthusiasm and joviality but Hannah was perfect for all age groups! Plus, I liked that her multi-colored hair made it easier to find her in a crowd.
Our tour with Victoria (not 100% sure of the name - sincere apologies) was fantastic. Very thorough and amazingly detailed in all elements. I had visited in the 90’s and this your showed me just how much I didn’t learn. Highly recommended.
The text message with the exact meet up point via Google maps and our guide’s name was fantastically helpful. Rasha (our guide) was lovely and guided us round the Alhambra in a lovely manner. It never felt rushed and we just walked in. Her experience and knowledge was excellent and she answered questions well too. The Alhambra is an awesome, mind-blowing complex. Beautiful. Reminded me at times of palaces in India. My only criticism would be that sometimes hearing what she was saying in the earpiece was difficult. I think it might have been to do with the location of her mic.
We had a fantastic tour of the Alhambra, our guide Luis was very knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Firstly the positives... we were picked up the tour from Malaga, about one a half hours. Then a very quick guide (15mins only ) in Granada. No time for lunch or coffee really. The Alhambra & Palaces were truly stunning & our guide Sandra at The Alhambra was AMAZING....a truly lovely lady, informative & obviously passionate about the area. 5*. A must see for everyone! It is a very long walk if you do the Palaces as well. The guide said 5 kms. Over 3 hours so walking shoes essential. Tiring for us in our 70`s. The negatives....our driver was half an hour late picking us up (so we had very little time in Granada) also it was in a mini bus so my husband & I weren't able to sit next to each other, as there were 6 of us in the mini bus (2 other couples) The driver didnt speak any English at all...thankfully one of the other passengers could translate or I think we wouldnt have known what time or where we were to meet. Written instructions in English might have been helpful if the drivers dont speak English.
Great small group tour. Very knowledgeable tour guide and very accommodating to person with disabilities. Beautiful site and worth visiting!
The guided Alhambra tour with this company was booked for my client over a month ago in advance. The booking was paid for and confirmed, I had the mobile tickets, and I received an email the day before with reminders on the meeting point and time. Yet on the day of the tour itself, I received an email that the tour has been cancelled. The Alhambra tour, where tickets are sold out weeks in advance. It's impossible now to get tickets the day of, and my client only has this one day in Granada. I called the office and they said they didn't have the tickets when they accepted my booking and were trying to get last minute tickets released the morning of the tour. Why would they only tell me this the day of the tour and not any earlier when I could have had the chance to purchase entry tickets somewhere else?! The person who picked up my call couldn't help me or give me alternative options (she said there aren't any options), just gave me a standard "We are sorry" reply. I would stay away from this company if you want to ensure that you actually get to visit the Alhambra.
Lovely tour guide really knowledgeable. Alhambra was stunning just make sure you take some good walking shoes!!!
The guide Enrique was great. Lots of knowledge and it was a pleasure to spend 3+ hours with him. Only fault is the info for the meet up could be better
This was a really interesting tour! Kristina was very honest and informative about the history of Granada and Alhambra. The views were amazing and the price was very reasonable - definitely worth booking with this tour company!
The view from fortress, palaces and the calligraphy was unforgettable. It’s hard to believe how the palaces are maintained and everything is well managed.
Great tour, the tour guide Rasha was ver accomodating and took photos for us. The organisation was great, as were given all the information on where to meet etc prior to the tour.
First we lost each other because what was written in our ticket wasn’t the same meeting point, then when we start it was an ansinge tour, the guide was very nice and informative about the whole history, I recommend this tour, and Alhambra is a place to remember!
Booked this as whilst in Granada it’s a must on the things to do , read many reviews and decided to go with trip advisor as to me this seemed the most clear to understand as some come with audio guide , no guide and not in English and rushed . Our guide JJ was one of the most polite , thoughtful and caring people I’ve come across and his passion for the Alhambra could be seen at every turn , he was born opposite the site ! Was not rushed , even went over our time and as being so hot ( 43’ ) he gave us time to cool down with a break . All in all would highly recommend if you wish to go and the history - especially the Nasrid palace do not leave out - architecture out of this world ! My only one negative is that we were told to meet at cafe next to ticket office , waited and nobody there , eventually phoned agent and meeting point had been changed without telling me .He did apologise but in the heat of the moment I thought not good enough . Trying to find our guide with an orange umbrella when it seemed every guide had one was hard work so I would just check and confirm of day of booking . Still will give this a 10 out of 10 as the guide made up for it . Go for it !
Booked this last minute while we were already in Malaga for a short stay. As Alhambra is so popular the are often no tickets left but were pleased to be able to book this tour including transport from our hotel in Malaga to Granada, where we then joined a bigger tour at Alhambra with tour guide with audio ear-pieces. It was a fairly large group of about 20 people but it was incredibly busy on the day and so lots of other tour groups and people visiting, and also very hot (35 degC). Although the tour guide was friendly and informative it all seemed a little rushed, and I thought we would have time to return later to take some better photographs etc but after the tour ended , we had to meet up with out minibus for a ride back to Malaga. Alhambra was beautiful and the buildings stunning but felt this was literally a whistle stop tour and we did not get much a of a feel for the place as it was so rushed.
