This tour is very educational and amazing of history, our tour guide was knowledgeable and he teaches future tour guides we were very lucky to have him, if you don’t mind spending the few extra dollars it’s worth the price make sure you book in advance because they only allow so many people a day in. The only thing is if your coming in on a cruise you will have to get a driver due to the tour is 1hr 40 minute ride each way and it cost $350 round trip our driver was excellent and if you don’t speak the language make sure you have google translate live conversation it works very good

This tour was very nice and we gor a lot of detail throughout the palace and gardens from our guide Abubakr, who was excellent. From religious explanations and historical facts to stories of Life in the 13th century when the Alhambra construction was started, through to the 19th century. I had not realized that the reason the Alhambra stands today is primarily due to Washington Irving, who was an ambassador to Spain! I highly recommend this tour to the intellectually and historically curious!
Our guide Anis was excellent. He gave us a great understanding of the architecture. His knowledge of the history was exceptional. We enjoyed spending our day with him learning about the culture and history of the Alhambra. I highly recommend this tour.
Isabel was outstanding. She was knowledgeable and enthusiastically shared her knowledge with us. She was personable. Answered all our questions. We felt Isabel was essential to our understanding and enjoyment of the spectacular Alhambra. I highly recommend taking a tour with her.
This place is in my opinion in the league of the Taj Mahal. Petra and the Pyramids. It was beautiful, we were not rushed and the whole experience was amazing, We spent around 6 hours but could have stayed longer. Granada was also very nice and easy to go around, safe and reasonably priced eateries
Excellent guide -your own personal historian. Much more expensive than a big tour group with crappy headphones. Far more personal.
We had a wonderful trip to the Alhambra. Our guide Abubakr was extremely enthusiastic & knowledgeable of the Alhambra and he brought the history of the palace to life. The visit flew past listening to Abubakr. We would definitely recommend Abubakr as a guide and our private tour was worth the ticket price.
I loved having my personal tour guide who did a great job at blending conversation and information. He explained the history as well as the architecture in a way that I could understand.
He reached out the day before and twice the morning of the tour. It was so easy meeting up with him for the tour. He was very informative and knew his history of the Alhambra. We listened to every word he said. Highly recommend our tour guide. We give him a A+
We had the pleasure of having Abubakr as our tour guide and it was nothing short of amazing. I know that 3 hours might sound intimidating and like something you might check out of halfway through, but Abubakr was so fun and really told a story as you walked through the Alhambra. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone wanting a fun and fascinating tour. We learned so much that we could’ve never discovered in our own. For reference it was my husband and I and our two daughters. What a blast.
Our guide Abubakr was excellent. Very knowledgeable and very solicitous and tuned in to our needs. Thoroughly recommend it.
Abubakr was a wonderful guide, his expertise in history and kindness made the experience special for us. He showed us so many hidden treasures in the Alhambra that made it very interesting for us. Absolutely recommend this private tour
This private tour featured the best guide my wife and I have ever had on a trip. Abubakr had tremendous knowledge of the history and unique features of Alhambra, the gardens, everything. Keep in mind that if you want to a tour of the Nasrid palace, book at least a month in advance to guarantee your tickets. We only had a few weeks lead time before our visit to Granada, so we actually arrived without secured tickets for the Nasrid Palace. However the tour company searched high and low and found tickets for my wife and me. The company’s communication was also great and they responded to texts quickly and thoroughly. Can’t recommend them enough,
Never got to do the trip, the tour operators contacted the day before we were at the Alhambra to say they couldn’t get the actual admission tickets then claimed to be totally transparent in their advertising, if that was the case we would have not been surprised and totally disappointed, a complete let down, the tour operators should not be allowed to sell tickets unless they have the admission tickets
Our guide Abubakr was excellent. Knowledgeable and passionate he made the experience unforgettable. Unfortunately we did not get tickets to Nasrid Palace as we were led to believe we would. We were issued a partial refund, but did not see what we came for.
Our Alhambra experience was nothing short of magical, and Abu Bakr deserves every bit of credit for that. The journey began even before the trip itself. We booked on March 31st for April 13th, well within the 2-month window where tickets aren't guaranteed. Abu Bakr was upfront about this from day one, but assured us he'd do everything possible to secure them. True to his word, he kept us updated every couple of days without us even having to ask. Our tickets were confirmed the day before the visit. What a relief! His preparation was meticulous. He sent us a detailed video explaining exactly where the taxi drops off, how long the walk to the ticket office was, and precisely what to say when collecting tickets for our two young children. With a 2-year-old and a 6-month-old in tow, this level of detail made all the difference. On the day itself, Abu Bakr's knowledge of the Alhambra was extraordinary. This was a private tour, which meant we could ask him as many questions as we wanted and we did. He walked us through the Nasrid Palaces with incredible depth, explaining how the Sultan lived, how subjects would approach him, the symbolism behind every archway and tile. He even pulled up YouTube videos showing the centuries-old artistic process behind the intricate tilework. History came alive in a way no guidebook ever could. What truly set him apart was his humanity. Strollers aren't permitted inside the Nasrid Palaces, which meant carrying both children throughout. Without being asked, Abu Bakr quietly took our bags so we could manage the kids comfortably. When our 6-month-old needed feeding mid-tour, he guided us to a peaceful bench in the gardens, sat with us patiently for 15 to 20 minutes, and never once made us feel rushed. Yes, the price seemed a little steep when we first booked. But after the tour, every penny felt completely justified. The combination of guaranteed tickets, exceptional knowledge, genuine care for our family and a seamlessly smooth experience from start to finish made it worth every cent. The Alhambra itself is an absolute must visit. We were choosing between Seville and Granada for our itinerary and the Alhambra was the decision maker and it lived up to every expectation. If you're in Granada, do not miss it. It is breathtaking. If you're visiting the Alhambra, especially with young children, book with Abu Bakr without hesitation. He doesn't just show you a monument, he makes you feel the soul of it. One of the highlights of our entire trip to Spain.
Wonderful tour with the brilliant Iria. We booked late and the company worked a miracle to get us last minute Nasrid Palace entry tickets
When looking at what to do in Granada, there is really one option you HAVE to do. Visit The Alhambra and the palaces within. Ahmed was our tour guide and gave a very interesting and educational tour! The ingenuity and architectural design was beyond amazing! You definitely need to see it with your own eyes! Washington Irving visited in the 1800s and it was because of his book about Alhambra that they started to restore it and the palaces. It became a UNESCO site in 1984 as well as the old town built outside the Alhambra walls but within the outerwalls. People still live in this area the houses from the 14th to 16th century! Also now a UNESCO site!
Our tour of the Alhambra, including the Nasrid Palaces and the Generalife, with our guide Abubakr was absolutely outstanding and the clear highlight of our visit to Granada. Abubakr is a true history expert with deep knowledge of Islamic culture and Arabic. He even read inscriptions directly from the palace walls in three different calligraphic styles, bringing the Alhambra vividly to life. His explanations beautifully connected architecture, gardens, water, and symbolism into a coherent whole, delivered with depth, clarity, and a sharp sense of humor. An unforgettable experience. If you want a guide who combines scholarship, passion, and engaging storytelling, Abubakr is exceptional. Highly recommended.
It was Wonderful! Our Guide ABU was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining, we learned so much! Highly recommended.
The Alhambra palace is a must see. So Much history and beauty. It was a Spectacular experience because our tour guide, Abubakr was so knowledgeable and helpful. Be sure to ask for him.
Isabel was fantastic, funny, and a top notch guide. Super informative and really helped us understand the history. The Generalife Gardens were incredible. Highly recommend!
Our tour of the Alhambra with Abu Bakr was pure magic — a journey not only through history, but through time, faith, and beauty itself. In our small group of five, he guided us with the elegance of a poet and the insight of a scholar, weaving stories that gave voice to the stones, the gardens, and the silent arches that have witnessed centuries of devotion and artistry. Every word he shared carried purpose and reverence. Abu Bakr revealed the Alhambra’s hidden soul — details, symbols, and meanings that no book or plaque could ever express. His love for this sacred place and for the spirit of Islam was radiant, wrapping us in a sense of peace and connection that felt almost divine. By the end, we didn’t simply tour the Alhambra — we felt its heartbeat. Abu Bakr turned a visit into a memory, a lesson into an awakening, and a monument into a living masterpiece we’ll carry in our hearts forever.
Our guide Abubakr was incredibly knowledgeable and we were so impressed by the Nasrid Palace and all that we learnt about the architecture and how they lived in the palace.
We had a private guide who was wonderful. It was worth the extra money to not be in a group of 30. Our guide was patient and very knowledgeable.
The guide was extremely good and spoke English well. He knew a lot about the area. We really enjoyed.
Our guide was wonderful! He was so knowledgeable about everything and took his time with us. He was able to read the Arabic writings on the wall which we found great!
Vanessa is very nice and knowledgeable but a combination of her quiet voice, excessive hand gestures and repeated adjectives left me exhausted.
We did a private tour with Abubakr. His knowledge of the history and architecture was great. He did a good job of painting the picture what life was like centuries ago.
It was a decent tour, for the money I am not sure it was worth it. We enjoyed seeing the area and learning some things.
This was an amazing experience and our guide Abubakr deserves all the credit. He brought the Alhambra to life through his love of history!
On time, very informative, and knowledgeable with good attitude and disposition. Overall a wonderful experience.
Our guide Lara was a delight! She provided historical information to help us understand the importance of the Alhambra to Spain. We thoroughly enjoyed the extensive tour and many descriptions of the beautiful city.
We so enjoyed our experience. Our guide Laura was absolutely outstanding. She was thorough, extremely knowledgeable and so pleasant to be with. Not only were we exposed to the beautiful Alhambra, we learned so much about the Muslim culture and architecture. This is a must tour!!
Totally engaged and amazing - lots of energy made the Alhambra come alive- would highly recommend for All
Isabel, our guide was knowledgeable, interesting, friendly and relaxed. We had a very enjoyable experience of this amazing place. A big thank you Isabel!
Absolutely recommended visit. The level of detail about culture, history, architecture. Etc was outstanding and made the visit and experience so much more impressive.
Despite buying very expensive tickets well in advance we were told hours before the entry time that we would not be provided with tickets to Nasrid Palaces and there would be no private tour. We were given tickets that gave us entry to the other areas of the Alhambra. Although there was a disclaimer on the website I thought it applied to force majeure events. When I spoke to the representative I got the impression that they obtain the tickets (or not) from the facility at the last minute. We did get a refund but it felt like a scam and was a great disappointment. My advice is to skip these tours, plan your trip well in advance and buy your ticket directly from the facility.
Abubakr’s knowledge of the Arabic language, culture and philosophy brought the Alhambra to life. Can’t recommend him enough. And we made a new friend.
We had a private tour with Lara who was wonderful: extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and obviously passionate about the palaces. Lara enhanced our Alhambra experience 100-fold. Highly recommended. One thing to note. The complex is very, very large, with some hills, some steps, and uneven surfaces. It’s easy enough to manage but something to keep in mind. The Alhambra is magnificent, the ingenuity of the architects is astounding and, in our opinion, a must-see experience. Thank you Lara!!
Our Moroccan tour guide (forgive me for not catching his full name) was fantastic!!! He taught us so much about the writing in the artwork and structure of the architecture! Such a fantastic experience. This private tour was well worth the price tag!
WARNING DO NOT USE THIS TOUR OPERATOR AND READ ON. If you do, you may not see the Alhambra you flew across the world to see. I’ve worked in hospitality across 3 continents for many years and this is hands down the worst show of hospitality I’ve ever seen. This tour operator uses cheap tricks and takes cheap shots at its customers. Only a week or less before the tour, we received a message that my husband and I might not be able to go on the tour because they DIDN’T have our tickets AFTER of course we already committed the great expense and time of flying across oceans to visit the Alhambra. This is also after we literally received a confirmation email saying our tour was reserved in all caps and saying they’ll eventually send over our tickets. Here’s the cheap trick they pulled—the FINE PRINT says they can accept our booking, reserve our tour, even accept a whopping $500 payment, and still not take us on the tour. At the last second. LOL. Let’s talk about the fine print — on their main page, I have to make it through over 400 words NOT including reading through the full itinerary highlights (a lot more words) to find this fine print buried. It’s also not a warning that is sent when they email you the all caps RESERVED confirmation email. I called the situation absurd, because it is, and said what’s in the fine print wasn’t adequately advertised because, to say the least, it isn’t. I asked them to try to secure the tickets we were 100% relying on. They didn’t respond to me. I asked for an update. They didn’t respond to me. I literally received what was called our “tickets” but guess what?! Still not real tickets! The tour operator finally messaged me back blaming me, blaming the customer, for not finding the fine print. They literally threatened that my messaging them (and my being ghosted) MIGHT MAKE IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO OBTAIN MY TICKETS. They used sexist language like telling me outright that I have a tendency to create conflict, those words verbatim. They told me I was being aggressive. A woman shouldn’t dare to call a messed up situation absurd and ask for updates! In the long run, they didn’t get tickets for my husband and I, and we flew across the world and didn’t get to see what we came to see, the Alhambra. You should not be able to accept someone’s booking and payment and have that be meaningless. We could’ve looked at other real options but by the time they told us they didn’t have our tickets it was too late. No one is going to think hey I received a confirmation email saying my tour was reserved, saying nothing but that, and also think their tour isn’t in reality reserved. When someone receives what’s called “tickets”, they aren’t going to think oh hey these might not be real tickets. You are to blame, your customers aren’t to blame. At the very least, take the fine print and ensure it’s bolded at the top of your main page and ensure that messaging is in the confirmation reserved email your customers receive. Better yet though, get rid of this bad business practice altogether and don’t accept someone’s booking unless you 100% can (like normal).
Our guide, Abu Bakr, was outstanding- so knowledgeable about all the different aspects of Muslim architecture and culture of the time. We learnt so much from him. I would recommend him very highly to anyone wanting to, not just see but also, to learn.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot . The palace is huge with many interesting points to see
We highly recommend this private tour if you are willing to pay, as it is very expensive versus group tours. The more economical private tours offered directly from the Alhambra book very early and weren't available when we looked only a few weeks before our date. We feel lucky to have found this tour by a secondary operator which still offered full access of the Alhambra but at a premium. To us it was worth it because it was the only way to see the Nasrid Palaces with such short notice. Our tour guide Vanessa was amazing. She is a local Granada resident who has a passion for history, her country and the Alhambra. She was able to weave us around big tour groups and brought us through less busy walkways to go from place to place, so it didn't seem as crowded and kept us going at a faster pace. We also skipped the line in front of large tour groups that were assembled at the entrances. Our only hiccup was at the start of the tour with our meeting spot. We put the address into Apple Maps while walking from our hotel and it took us somewhere different within the free section of the Alhambra. Luckily I was able to communicate with the tour operator and our guide met us where we were. If you book the tour and wish to walk there, note that the meeting spot is at the main entrance. You should see a sign that references a generic tour meeting spot, so you'll know you're in the right spot. If we would've taken a taxi, I'm sure it would've dropped us at the right spot. And dont forget your passports... you'll need them at the entrance!
This was an excellent tour! Our guide, Lara, was very knowledgeable and friendly. This was an amazing experience.
Abubakr was a wonderful guide. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about the Alhambra and its history. We would highly recommend him to others. It was a fantastic experience.
Easily a top 5 private guide. So personable , knowledgeable and his pride of area and culture were contagious. Cannot recommend this more .
Wonderful and informative trip. Our guide Adriana was fun, so knowledgeable and really personable. Her knowledge of the history is second to none. Organisation of the tour was clear and we met our guide at the entrance without any issues.
Abubakr was an extremely knowledgeable and friendly guide. The company went above and beyond to meet our time restrictions and we are very grateful for that. We learned a tremendous amount about the history, architecture, and life of the Alhambra. Well worth it!
