Good overview of Albacin neighborhood and some of Sacromonte. Beautiful views of Al Hambra at sunset and after esp from Sacromonte where most people don't go. Could have included more in Sacromonte, even short visit to cuevas museum.

We gained information about the general area & it’s rich history plus lots of facts about buildings & architecture that we would have simply just walked passed & missed.
This tour is not for the faint of heart (lots of uphill and downhill walking) but it was well worth the huffing and puffing. Our tour guides (we cannot remember their names, unfortunately) were fabulous and they were willing to stop for those in our group who were older to give them more time; fine by me, more photo time! We learned so much about the city's history and architecture, and walked to places I never would have thought to myself. I'd recommend this tour on a day you aren't going to the Alhambra as it's a lot of walking, but a great option for other days in town!
I recently booked us on a walking tour in Granada, through Albayzin and Sacromonte. and it was one of the highlights of my trip to Spain! The guide was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the city’s rich history and culture. We explored charming neighborhoods, climbed lots of steps (beware if you dont like climbing), and enjoyed exploring the narrow, winding streets and stunning views of the Alhambra, and learned so much about Granada’s fascinating blend of Moorish and Spanish influences. The pace was perfect—not too rushed, but we still saw a lot in a couple of hours. The guide shared interesting stories and pointed out hidden gems we never would’ve noticed on our own. We even got some great local recommendations for food and flamenco spots afterward! The gypsy caves were a little disappointing, but the rest of the tour made it all worthwhile. If you're visiting Granada, I highly recommend starting with this tour. It’s a fantastic way to get oriented and truly appreciate what makes this city so special.
Booked over a month before the trip. Cancelled our 4 tickets by text message late the night before. Did get a refund but that’s no compensation for missing out on the visit. It is impossible to get tickets ion the day.
There are a lot of hills to climb. The guide walked fast and we were unable to keep up. We stopped after a half an hour. Be better if Viator rated the level of the activity required on there activities
Good guide who was knowledgeable about the sites and history. Presented a balance approach to history.
I enjoyed this walking tour of Albayzin, the Moorish quarter, and Sacromonte where Roma gypsies settled. The whole area is hilly, so you’d have to walk up the steep hills and many steps. I’m glad I was able to keep up with other travelers but I have to warn other seniors that it is not an easy walk. I also saw some cave dwellings in Sacromonte and went inside one cave house. But I was bitten by some insect, so I had to get out of the cave house immediately. It was an interesting walking tour and I also enjoyed the view of the Alhambra.
Excellent work for guy. Beautiful scenery around of the city. Good history about the civilizations through the centuries.
The guide was very knowledgeable and made the walk through the two neighborhoods enjoyable. The major drawback was the size of the group. We were too many to hear the guide. If she had used a microphone and we had listening devices, the tour would have been much, much better.
Our guide, Irene was extraordinary- so friendly, well informed, responsive to the energy of our group (only 6 people!) and she shared several personal experiences. We would ask for her in the future!!! Muchas gracias! We met at P.l Isabel católica- very easy to find! Our guide arrived before the appointment time 5pm and gathered us altogether. The time was perfect as it was not in the heat of the day! The walk is quite strenuous; however, Irene kept checking in with us and give us lots of opportunities to rest. It’s important that you’re comfortable with climbing stairs and walking on cobblestones- Can be tricky. You may be a little sore the next day - but so worth the effort!!
Very well organized tour and guide very friendly and well informed about this part of town. Very nice way to get a feel of a new city.
Our tour guide, Arina, was lovely, she had so much knowledge which she shared with us with humour. The stories and facts she told us were so interesting. I really enjoyed this walking tour and the three other people who also on the walk with me made it fun too!
Great guide. Thank you Pedro. Good information and tour visiting the areas around the Al hambra. Thanks.
MARIA WAS AWESOME. She made walking up the stairs as fun as possible and answered all my questions about the area. She was well articulated and fun and made sure everyone in the group had a good time. Thanks, Maria!
November 29th we booked and paid for a walking tour for Sunday 03 December at 5 pm. We were at the meeting point at 4.45pm and waited… at 5.10 we sent them a txt to say no guide… we texted back and forth and at 5.25pm we gave up. They could not reach the guide and promised us a refund. Until today we have not received the refund and they do not respond anymore to any messages. Stay away from them, they are a BUNCH OF CROOKS
We took an English-speaking tour with Irene and thoroughly enjoyed her informative introduction to these two fascinating Granada neighborhoods. The tour was comfortably paced, with time to savor the views, visit the new church and mosque at the top of the Albayzin, and explore one of the Sacromonte cave dwellings. Thanks to Irene’s conversational style of presenting information, I still remember a lot of the curious details about the aqueduct, carmens, and caves. Very enjoyable visit.
Really enjoyed this. Fantastic guide. Irene found really interesting things to tell us and had us involved and participating. Wear comfortable shoes.
Pedro was informative, personable and a damn great person. My buddy and I had a heck of a day. I would go again if I hadn't learned everything the first time. The only down side was the ignoramus that couldn't stop asking obvious questions.
Excellent tour, lots of walking up hills, beautiful views and our guide was great. I would recommend but need to be able to walk on uneven streets
Great way to learn about where you are in the Albicin of Granada. Elaine our guide was so lovely. She knew alot and made the history very enjoyable.
Excellent and informative. I highly recommend this tour. I wish that I could remember the guide's name. She was wonderful. This tour was in June 2022.
Marco gave us a fantastic tour of Albayzin and Sacromonte. We really appreciated his knowledge and love of the neighborhood and the tips he gave us about what to see on other days. There were also extra treats he arranged, such as a visit to a cave house and a special entry to see a Flamenco Cave venue. So special. Thank you Marco!!!
Wow. Our guide for this walking tour was superb - very engaging, happy to chat with all our group and make sure that we were involved. His commentary was terrific, with lots of information which linked the past and the present. A great way to spend an evening in the Albaicin and Sacromonte districts.
Knowledgeable and amusing guide. Had a much better appreciation of the history of the area. Got far more out of my stay.
Walking around the neighborhoods. Our guide was wonderful!! I loved the information. The cave house was really nice to see.
Unfortunately this tour did not meet our expectations. Our guide, Valerie, provided little useful historical information. The tour included steep walks in the town which was difficult for some of the participants.
Excellent tour. Very informative. There was time for questions. The guide had done her research( I wish I could remember her name!) Be ready to walk uphill!
Amazing. The tour guide carmen was very knowledgeable and gave us her best. Loved it. It’s a king walk but all worth it
Juana gave us an incredibly informed account of the history of Grenada the city, Spain the empire, and the struggle of the Gypsy people. She has a staggering amount of knowledge, as well as passion for the culture of this place. This was probably the best spent money of my whole trip. I could go on and on. Would absolutely recommend.
Really pleased we used Viator as helped us understand what we were seeing. We did the small group which was good, 5 of us. Was a lot of people there and would have benefitted from headset to block out external noise. There was a LOT of steps and quite steep in places. Would have liked a little longer at St Nicholas church as we didn’t have time to see mosque as well. (We did sit for 5 mins to rest, so if you don’t need to do that there prob would’ve been time)
This was a very nice tour with lots of interesting things to see. There is a lot of uphill walking, but the guide took it slowly and provided breaks. The views from the top of the mountains were worth it.
Juana was a fantastic guide - she was very knowledgeable about the history of the city, was enthusiastic, and had a great sense of humor.
They moved the pick-up point at the last minute and the confusion made me miss the tour . They refused to accept responsibility and have so far refused a refund. No apology or consideration for their own mistake . Very poor communication with a phone rep who couldn't speak English. Spanish rep who initially told me that the meet up location had been moved was unhelpful and very rude
Arrived at Abside Shop at 4:58 for 5:00PM tour, this after location was changed last minute, and tour was nowhere to be found. (see pic of Abside store at 5:04!!!) Had the Abside local shop worker call guide who said she had left and told us she would meet us if we walked up the steps of Calderia Nueva. (we even texted at pic of us so we could meet) No one met us. Had 2nd store owner call again and now we were told to head to a different location. Clearly, the guide either bagged out on the tour and was sending us on a "wild goose chase" or left without us and had no serious intention of helping us find her. When we called numerous times ourselves we got no answer. Again, clearly she would answer her phone if it was coming from a local number but not from our international number. Full disclosure, when we got the email about the change in location, we replied we wanted to cancel the tour and she replied, and I quote, "sorry no possible. booking confirmed. thanks." at which point I emailed back and said, OK we will be there. Clearly, she had our email and was able to communicate with us prior to the tour starting but after 5:00PM she completely ghosted us. Could she not have emailed us??? Texted??? Phoned??? Absolutely zero communication from her. Sent email again after this terrible experience asking what was up and again no reply. Working on getting my money back from this scam of a tour guide. It gives me no pleasure to write this, this is the first negative review I have ever given :-(
This was an excellent walk, and our guide. Mar really did a good job of making sure that the walking was accessible for everyone in our group. There are a lot of ups and downs on this, but the pace was appropriate so don't think you have to be an Olympic athlete to do this tour.
Francisco gave us a really great tour! We went all around the two districts, and got a great sense of the city we wouldn't have had otherwise. He also had great Tapas recs!
Elena was patient and knowledgeable, a great guide. Insights of history and daily life were appreciated.
Our guide, Francisco, was fantastic. He shared the history of the area with such warmth and enthusiasm, answered all of our questions about the history of Granada and of Spain and recommended places to explore and eat as well! Our sons, 12 and 10 were engaged and interested throughout. We highly recommend this tour - and Francisco!
We had a fabulous time on our walking tour. Our guide, Fatima, was extremely knowledgeable and shared interesting anecdotes about the city with the group. Highly recommended!
Not too strenuous for an over 50 year old! Lovely views of Alhambra. Interesting facts. Saw cave house . Good tour.
Our tour guide was a young and dynamic lady who showed us around very beautiful parts of Granada at a good pace. The history-telling was not overwhelming. We had headphone sets which make it comfortable to listen to the guide. Our children really enjoyed the walk. Highly recommended.
Isabella was a knowledgeable guide.we enjoyed the tour.Maybe a halt for restroom can be made in between as the heat is intense due to the summer and the walk is demanding.
Historic trip El Albayzín (also Albaicín or El Albaicín) is a district of present day Granada, in theautonomous community of Andalusia, Spain, that retains the narrow winding streets of itsMedieval Moorish past. It was declared aworld heritage site in 1984, along with the more famous Alhambra. Recommended walking tours places 1 Alhambra: A Masterpiece of Islamic Architecture. ... 2 Albaicín and Mirador of San Nicolas. ... 3 Capilla Real. ... 4 Catedral Santa María de la Encarnación. ... 5 The Gypsy Quarter of Sacromonte. ... 6 The Bañuelo: Traditional Arab Baths. ... 7 Parque de las Ciencias (Science Park) ... 8 La Alcaicería (Arab Spice Market)
Enjoyed walking around these neighborhoods, which we would not have done in such detail otherwise. The guide was personable and knew a lot. However, we specifically booked an English language trip. The majority of the people were English speaking and yet the guide spoke in Spanish more than half the time to the four people who were Spanish speaking and somehow included on our tour. Also, she ended 15 minutes early at a scenic viewpoint, which was quite a ways from the starting point, leaving us to find our own way back. I had assumed that we would be brought back to the starting point.
It was indeed a great pleasure to discover this area of Spain with a guide who made it extremely interesting. Well worth the tour!
Excellent guide and tour. We had the evening tour with a splendid sunset looking over Granada. For those with any physical problems it is a bit hard.
If you are in Granada you must see this part of the city. The tour was great overall - there was some confusion when we arrived as our names weren't on the list, but the company quickly rectified the situation and got us rescheduled.
Our guide,Teresa kindly offered to make the tour bilingual for English speakers, even though we knew it was booked as Spanish (it was all that was available). We really enjoyed discovering the history of the area and exploring new parts. She was very friendly, helpful and approachable. We came away feeling we'd not only had an enjoyable afternoon but made new friends too. Highly recommended, despite the steep climbs!
As with most tours, it is the guide who makes or breaks the tour. Ours was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fun. We walked for almost 3 hours covering these 2 fascinating areas.
