Wonderful experience with Belgiums Wanderlust. Joris was the best! He listened to our needs . He took us to places that no bus tour would ever be able to take us. It was the best experience ever.

Transport from hotel to Rochefort
A captivating underground marvel nestled in the picturesque region of Rochefort, Belgium. Carved out over thousands of years by the gentle yet relentless force of water, this natural wonder offers visitors an enchanting journey into the depths of the Earth. Illuminated pathways guide your way through a labyrinth of stalactites and stalagmites, formed over centuries as mineral-rich water dripped from the cave ceiling and solidified upon reaching the floor. Every turn reveals a new marvel of nature's craftsmanship. Cathedral-like chambers adorned with intricate formations create an otherworldly ambiance, while underground rivers and pools glisten in the soft glow of carefully placed lights. One of the most awe-inspiring sights within the Cave of Lorette-Rochefort is the Grand Dome, a vast chamber adorned with towering columns of rock reaching towards the ceiling. Here, you can't help but feel a sense of reverence for the immense power and patience of the natural world.
Transport to Walzin Castle
Enjoy a solitary walk amidst the natural beauty surrounding the castle, finding solace in the quietude of nature's embrace. Take your time to wander the tranquil trails, relishing the peaceful atmosphere and the opportunity for introspection. Afterward, settle down for a picnic lunch, savoring the simplicity of the moment and the serenity of your surroundings.
Nestled within the picturesque Meuse Valley in Belgium lies the enchanting town of Dinant, a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. As you approach this charming destination, you'll be greeted by the iconic silhouette of the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame, perched dramatically atop a rocky cliff overlooking the tranquil waters of the river. Dinant is a town rich in history, with its origins dating back to the Middle Ages. Its strategic location along the river made it a significant trading hub, and remnants of its medieval past can still be seen today in the form of quaint cobblestone streets, ancient fortifications, and historic buildings. Check the imposing Citadel, which stands sentinel above the town. This fortress has witnessed centuries of history and offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. A visit to the Citadel provides a fascinating glimpse into Dinant's military heritage and offers insight into the town's strategic importance throughout the ages.
Maison Leffe is more than just a brewery; it's a testament to the artistry and tradition of Belgian brewing. Situated in the heart of Dinant, Belgium, Maison Leffe stands as a beacon of quality and heritage in the world of beer. The history of Maison Leffe dates back to the 12th century when the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Leffe was founded. Monks brewed beer within the abbey walls, not just as a beverage, but as a means of sustaining themselves and their community. Over the centuries, Leffe beer became renowned not only for its exceptional taste but also for its connection to spirituality and craftsmanship. Today, Maison Leffe continues this legacy, producing a range of iconic Belgian beers that captivate the senses with their depth of flavor and complexity. From the classic Leffe Blonde, with its fruity aroma and subtle bitterness, to the rich and indulgent Leffe Brune, each beer is a testament to the time-honored art of brewing.
Transport to Chimay
Nestled amidst the serene landscape of Chimay, Belgium, stands the venerable Abbey of Notre-Dame de Scourmont, a bastion of spiritual solace and rich heritage. This tranquil haven, founded in 1850 by Trappist monks, exudes an aura of profound reverence and timeless devotion. The Abbey's origins trace back to a small group of monks who sought to establish a contemplative community dedicated to prayer, work, and hospitality. Over the decades, the Abbey has evolved into a thriving monastic enclave, renowned not only for its spiritual pursuits but also for its renowned Trappist brewery, which produces the world-famous Chimay beers. Of course, one cannot speak of Notre-Dame de Scourmont without mentioning its renowned brewery, where the monks craft their acclaimed Chimay beers with meticulous care and reverence. The brewery, a source of both sustenance and revenue for the Abbey, stands as a testament to the monks' commitment to balance and moderation in all things.
Our dinner plans promise an evening of culinary exploration, as we indulge in the region's renowned gastronomic delights. From savory dishes crafted with local ingredients to the inviting ambiance of charming eateries, our dining experience in Chimay will be a feast for the senses. With each dish, we'll embark on a flavorful journey, embracing the rich heritage and flavors of Belgian cuisine.

My husband and I chose a private tour because we’re not into buses of people crammed together at all the same high-volume sites. We like to see the real attractions to any country we’re in, including the must-see spots and the off the beaten path spots. Joris delivered on that 100%. We emailed extensively prior to our arrival so he knew exactly what interested us. He knew we wanted to learn the history of the country, discover exceptional beers, and see the countryside. Our itinerary was planned specifically to our needs, and Joris delivered a day full of fun, exploration, and learning. Heavy on the fun, in our case. We laughed all day as we explored. I think he learned as much about us and our country as we did his. The day met every expectation and more. I’ve spent a few days trying to decide if I regret paying the cost of a private tour, as it certainly isn’t cheap, but I’d have to say “no”. I think we got what we paid for and expected to receive, and all while enjoying ourselves immensely. I would book with Joris again, no hesitation. Enjoy Belgium!! It’s a beautiful country.
Such a lovely day and what a service! Joris came and picked us up at our hotel and our adventure began! Went through a cosy Belgium town tucked away between the rocks and explored castles, caves, drank local and (very) rare beers (hopefully he still has some over by the time you book ;) ). All in all a wonderful day where we didn't have to think about a single thing. 10/10 would recommend and worth every penny!
Our guide, Joris, and the trek were an absolute pleasure! I would highly recommend this experience, especially to anyone interested in the Belgian countryside, Dinant and its history, Trappist beers, castles, or simply spending a wonderful day exploring with a knowledgeable local. This trek was one of the major highlights of our three-country trip through Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, which speaks for itself. There were so many highlights throughout the day. We began by chatting each other’s ears off, learning about Belgium, sharing life adventures, and exploring the differences between our cultures. It set the tone perfectly for the rest of the experience. From there, we enjoyed a lovely mini-picnic with coffee, chocolate, and biscuits in the woods alongside a river with an elegant historic castle in the background. We explored underground caves near Dinant and were essentially the only people there, creating another wonderfully private-feeling experience at an otherwise popular attraction. Joris deserves a great deal of credit for planning the timing so well. Joris treated us to a delicious Trappist beer tasting with charcuterie, followed by a relaxed lunch overlooking the river, castle, and gardens in Dinant. We visited the town itself, along with several castles and historic sites throughout the surrounding countryside. The day offered an excellent balance between receiving a crash course in the area’s history from Joris and having time to explore independently. We ended the day with a drink at a local Trappist brewery overlooking Dinant and the river, followed by a visit to one final picturesque town and a delicious Flemish dinner with Joris at a local restaurant. From the very beginning, conversation with Joris about Belgium, travel, and life felt completely natural. Well before the end of the day, it felt as though we were old friends taking a mini road trip and adventuring through the countryside together. It was a lovely experience from start to finish. **** A few additional notes for anyone interested: • My partner and I ended up being the only two guests booked for the trek that day, and Joris still operated it as planned rather than canceling, as some other tour operators might. Thus, we received what was essentially a private tour for the price of a small-group experience. This should give other prospective guests confidence when booking during shoulder season or on dates when other events may affect demand. • I am prone to motion sickness, particularly when riding in the back seat of Teslas. Because there were only two of us, Joris arrived in a Tesla sedan rather than a sprinter van or SUV that might be used for a full small group. I was initially a little concerned because the tour lasted all day and I had forgotten my motion-sickness bands. However, Joris drove so smoothly that I did not experience any motion sickness at all, which is practically unheard of for me in a Tesla! Even at the start of the day, things with Joris felt so comfortable and easy-going that I would have had no concern asking him to wait while I retrieved my motion-sickness bands or asking to sit in the front seat with him. • Joris kept us well hydrated throughout the day with a ready supply of water. Overall, this was an exceptional experience, and we could not recommend Joris and the trek more highly.
Joris was a delight. He contacted me 1 week before to confirm the date, time, and location of our tour. That put my mind at ease. When he arrived, his vehicle was sufficiently large for my particularly tall family to all be comfortable. He thought out every detail of the day and customized it for us as the day went on. Strongly recommend his service to anyone.
Our family of five did a full day tour with Joris to see the sights around Dinant. Joris is absolutely wonderful! He is friendly, knowledgeable, and very organized. He reached out to us a week ahead of time, and again the day before, to confirm details for our tour. At our first castle stop, Joris provided a delicious selection of Belgian cookies and chocolates, along with coffee, cold chocolate milk, and water. After our cave tour, he gave us an amazing picnic lunch and informational beer tasting including local Trappist beers (he had non-alcoholic drink options available too). This tour was a highlight of our trip and I highly recommend Joris and Belgium's Wanderlust!
Overall the experience was amazing, Joris our guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, making sure that we had all of our questions answered as well as being comfortable throughout our day. Joris also made sure to take extra care of us on one of the hottest days in Dinant history, with temperatures reaching 37°C (~100°F) by bringing lots of very cold water, and keeping us in temperature-friendly areas. Not only did he bring us to a myriad of beautiful areas, but he used the favorite snacks/locations of friends and family, which gave the tour a more personal feel. Everything was delicious and interesting, and he always double checked that food or places were okay with everyone before continuing to make sure that everyone was comfortable. There were no crowds at all in any of the places we went, but it didn't feel abandoned, just easier to move around. Joris was a great guy who really gave a look at the beauty of Dinant, as well as Belgian culture as a whole. As the cherry on the cake, his pre-tour communication was on-point, making sure we all felt assured that our day would be amazing.
Amazing experience! Joris pick us up at our rental with a van he rented to accommodate our family. He had more water then we could drink and taste food. Overall a 10/10 tour.
Our guide Joris was incredible, providing an amazing experience that was both fun, and interactive, incorporating his own knowledge of the country and its history, as well as being personable and friendly toward every one of us.
It was an amazing day, full of beautiful stops! Really really off the beaten path. The full day was stress free and fully focussed on getting ny family and me the best possible experiencd! Thank you Belgium's Wanderlust!
Honestly best tour I did in my years of traveling! History, nature and just the best guide. Joris has his Dinant tour fitted just perfectly in a day. Thanks again ❤️
The tour was truly fantastic. The food was incredibly delicious, with every meal adding to the experience. We explored so many beautiful pieces of architecture and breathtaking viewpoints that made the journey unforgettable. Everything was well organized and enjoyable from beginning to end. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable adventure!
We went on the tour as a family, and it was perfect for all ages! Joris, our guide, was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the day fun and engaging. Highlights included exploring the caves, strolling around Walzin Castle with stunning river views, wandering through charming Dinant, and learning about brewing at the monastery with a tasting at the end. The pace was great, lots of variety, so both kids and adults stayed interested all day. Everything was well organized, from transport to timing at each stop. We felt relaxed, cared for, and never rushed. A full day of history, nature, and culture!
Visiting Dinant with our family was an amazing experience! The tour was lively and entertaining, keeping both the kids and adults interested the whole time. Our guide was very knowledgeble and made us laugh along the way. The riverside views were just breathtaking. Definitely a trip we’ll never forget!
Loved my experience with Joris! I was able to discover new parts of Dinant and enjoy beautiful scenery throughout the entire day. He was an amazing guide! Highly recommend 😊
This tour was absolutely a highlight of our trip! From Ghent, we left early and the drive to Dinant was scenic and peaceful. The riverside castle is stunning, it has amazing views… Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and full of interesting stories about the castle’s past, the region’s culture, and how the monks brew beer (yes, beer monastery!!!) The logistics were smooth, pick-up, breaks, food suggestions, time spent at each place. If you love castles, riverside settings, good beer, and want both relaxation and insight, this tour and Joris give you all you need! You’ve made this New York family very happy, thanks!
I went on this trip with my husband and three kids, and it was amazing! Joris made sure everyone and everything was taken care of. The kids loved it, and so did we!
I had an amazing time on the tour, thanks to Joris, an incredible guide! He was thoughtful, energetic, and always cheerful, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. What stood out most was his ability to adapt the tour to suit everyone’s needs and preferences, ensuring that each person felt included and engaged. His enthusiasm was contagious, and his knowledge made the journey both fun and informative. Highly recommend this tour – Joris truly goes above and beyond!
This tour was our favorite adventure in Belgium. Joris picked us up at our hotel and started the journey with a personal history lesson. We learned so much about the economy, people and areas. Our first stop included coffee and tasting various types of cookies while enjoying beautiful views of the castle. Beer tasking in a private setting overlooking the gardens. Visiting the monastery was really nice. Chimay was amazing! Joris' timing was impeccable at each stop. We didn't wait in line at all. We tasted many different beers and learned so much. Being with Joris was like hanging out with a friend. He is a native and loves his country. With this personal tour, you get to see a lot of places that you wouldn't typically have access to with a bus tour group.
Our tour to Dinant was an unforgettable experience filled with natural beauty, rich history, and charming architecture. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning cliffs, the Meuse River, and the iconic Citadel overlooking the town. The guided tour gave us fascinating insights into Dinant’s past, including its role in World War I and its connection to Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone. We enjoyed a peaceful boat ride on the river, explored quaint streets, and sampled delicious local cuisine. The mix of adventure and relaxation made this trip perfect for any traveler. Dinant’s atmosphere is both peaceful and inspiring—ideal for a weekend getaway. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Belgium.
My day with Joris exceeded my very high expectations! Joris is incredibly knowledgeable about the region and Trappist beers. Everything was perfectly planned from the timing to the meals featuring food and beer from the region to his knowledge of the best secret spots for the best views!! The Caves and the Citadel were incredible. It was like spending the day with a friend, Joris is friendly, outgoing and engaging. My next trip to Belgium will include another tour with Joris!
Thanks Joris for the great day! My family and me had the best time! We will do your other tours next time we're in Belgium! The monastry was amazing and the caves breathtaking!
Overall a very enjoyable tour. If you are looking for a tour off the beaten path and see some amazing view as well as some not so crowded amazing tour site this is the tour. The first stop was a secluded spot with a short walk to some amazing views of Walzin Castle and a restful coffee break along the river Lesse, the second for us was the tour of Citadelle de Dinant and Collegiate Church of our Lady, Dinant. The stop for a quick lunch and a beer taster was relaxing and not rushed as many tours would have. The last stop was at the Scourmont Abbey where they run the Chimay Brewer and dinner nearby. Overalll best tour of our trip. We optioned for the personal tour and it was well worth the amazing views and out of way locations. Joris thank you for the very enjoyable day. Most of the tour is Joris getting us there and letting us see the sites. He though provides enough of the insight of the area, food, and beer during the drive and lunch to give you that special tour feel.
Joris shared an unforgettable experience with me by bringing me to amazing hidden locations frequented by locals and even provided excellent catering with local delights. He was also very knowledgeable and I learned so much about local culture from his commentary. He even helped me capture the moments with some great photography. I would highly recommend this highly personalized tour and it was definitely worth the price.
I loved this tour. After seeing all the usual towns, it was great to see more of the countryside of Belgium. A beautiful snack by a river and castle where we walked along a river was so picturesque. Then we took a tour of an underground cavern. Be prepared to wear some sneakers or shoes with a grip and climb quite a few stairs. The tour of the caverns was really spectacular, thenquide was a geologist who was incredibly knowledgeable and also spoke 3 languages fluently. Then we went on to drink some Trappist beer and visit a monastery. Joris the guide had lunch all ready for us after the caverns and then took us to a nice dinner later on. Really a wonderful day.
Exploring the caves in Dinant was an adventure I’ll never forget. The natural formations were spectacular and our guide made the experience both educational and thrilling. A must-do for any nature lover!
Was a great day and the most unique tour available to see the sites not accessible by train. Highly recommended! Tour guide Joris made sure we were well fed and taken care of all day. Friendly and comfortable. Thank you!
I traveled to Belgium for the first time this month. And by far my best day in that country was the day I spent with Joris from Belgium's Wanderlust. I signed up for the tour as a way of seeing a part of the country I'd be unlikely to navigate on my own. By some luck, I ended up being the only person signed up, and had the most amazing private tour of the southern part of Belgium with Joris. This day is a beautifully curated collection of experiences that represents so much of what makes Belgium beautiful - the landscape, the architecture, the history...and the beer. :) The description of the tour that lists what the various experiences will be doesn't do them justice. From walking through the countryside to get a stunning view of a riverside castle while having coffee, to driving around and seeing so much beautiful landscape, to exploring an incredible cave, to lunch from a picturesque viewpoint, to visiting a brewery and a monastery for delicious Belgian beer - each stop is more wonderful than you think it is. And that is mostly because of Joris. He isn't just a tour guide. He is a gracious host. When he says "we'll have coffee by the river", you might imagine a thermos and paper cup. You might not expect the beautifully laid out picnic of cookies and coffee. Lunch was equally charming and beautiful. And I mean, drinking Rochefort beer and eating Rochefort cheese while looking out over the Rochefort countryside is pretty stunning. So many moments in the day felt like they came straight out of a fairytale. The one thing to be prepared for is if your tour includes the "explore a cave" activity, understand that this means climbing to the bottom of a 67 meter cave...and then climbing back up. It isn't what I expected in my day. But in some ways I'm glad it wasn't what I expected, because I might not have chosen it. And it was a truly unique experience I'm glad I had. My legs were just sore for several days afterward. :) It was entirely worth it. If you are in Belgium and looking for a way to see things you won't see on your own, a tour with Joris is a must-do. I plan to recommend him to other friends who travel in the area, and reach out to him when I have the chance to go back.
I was looking for a relaxing escape and the Dinant tour delivered. The peaceful environment and slow pace allowed me to unwind completely. It was the perfect break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The service on the Dinant tour was top-notch. From the moment we booked, everything was handled smoothly and professionally. The staff was friendly and always ready to help, making our experience seamless and enjoyable.
The monasteries visited on the Dinant tour were awe-inspiring. Each one was steeped in history and provided a serene atmosphere. The architecture and peaceful surroundings made this a highlight of the trip!
The scenic views on the Dinant tour were absolutely breathtaking. From rolling hills to picturesque riversides, every stop offered a new and stunning perspective of the region. Don't forget your camera!
Our entire family, both young and old, enjoyed the experience immensely. Joris was very accommodating and entertaining. The content of the tour was also excellent, and the delicious beer and food flowed. Highly recommend!
The culinary experience on the Dinant tour was phenomenal. Each meal was a delightful adventure into local cuisine, offering both traditional and innovative dishes. I highly recommend this tour for any food lovers out there!
Great day!! Fun and energetic guide - would definitely recommend this if you want to make the most of your trip to Dinant!
Exploring Dinant with Belgium's Wanderlust was an absolute delight. Our guide's knowledge and passion for the town's history brought every corner to life. The Dinant Citadel and the panoramic views were the highlights of the tour. I highly recommend Joris as a guide for an unforgettable journey through Dinant!
Epic day! Thank you so much! The food, the guide, the views and the vibe was amazing. I would 100% recommend to everyone. !
We loved the tour of Dinant; it was fun and interesting. The guide did a great job. Definitely worth doing. We’ll come back in the near future.
Great experience! The guide was very enthusiastic and had some fun facts about the city. Fantastic walk! In the evening we had some drinks with the guide.
Lots of stunning views! The tips and tricks from the guide for the rest of our holiday are definitely worth mentioning as well! Thanks a lot
Our day exploring Dinant was truly unforgettable. The city's stunning architecture, nestled along the Meuse River, left us in awe at every turn. Exploring these sights with our guide, Joris, added depth to our experience, making it a day to remember. Highly recommend visiting Dinant and soaking in its picturesque surroundings!
Had an absolutely amazing time! Would definitely recommend this tour company. Everything was exactly as described and we really enjoyed the entire experience
Very nice day! We traveled all the way to the south of Belgium and visited all sorts of castles — Super guide, top-notch experience, highly recommended! Thank you for the delicious food :-).
Me and my kids had a great tour. Joris was a very well informed but at the same time super sympathetic guide. You could tell he knows a lot about the story – and he could even speak a little German. Really recommendable!
Beautiful day! Tasted good beers and saw beautiful views. Thanks and good luck! And also thank you from Arthur!
My stay in Dinant in a nutshell? Unforgettable! Beautiful landscapes surrounded by stories. Our guide knows very well this small town in the middle of the Ardennes and has told us full of secrets about its history. The local food was simply delicious.
a minute ago Joris, our guide, was amazing! We spent a truly pleasant day with him in beautiful Dinant. Joris' stories were really interesting and he was also super good at entertaining our 10 year old son. Highly recommended, when we return to Belgium we will already know who to turn to. Excellent food (with tasting of Belgian beers included) and at a good price in the restaurant recommended to us by Joris
Dinant is one of the most picturesque towns I have ever visited. The steep cliffs and the magnificent citadel provide a breathtaking backdrop. The walk along the river Maas, lined with colorful houses, was particularly beautiful. The natural beauty and the historical buildings make Dinant a true gem. It was a really beautiful experience and I would definitely recommend it! The guide led us excellently. We would be happy to go again 👍🏼
Tour guide Joris took us to unique places in the Belgian Ardennes. On a beautiful nature walk of 15 km (we could determine the distance ourselves) we saw various wild animals such as foxes, deer and birds of prey. Then we visited charming Dinant where we tasted some delicious Belgian beers and Ardennes specialties. We can recommend it to everyone! Joris easily adapts to the wishes of the group, is funny and has a lot to say about the history of the neighborhood.
Great experience! The guide was very educational and told interesting facts during the excursion. The walks were also very unique.
