Great informative tour, with a mix of history, food and drink. What's not to love. Iris was a lovely tour guide, we lucked out with some great fellow travellers. 100% recommend

Had a fantastic time on this tour - the sampling was perfect and our guide was super knowledgeable and a great storyteller.
The woman who gave the tour was fine. My issue was the number of people on the tour; there was 16 people…. Way too many people. This was supposed to be a small group tour 16 is not small
We had a great experience tasting some of Ghent’s best flavors! Our guide Mandy was wonderful and provided some interesting background info. Highly recommended!!
This was a last minute selection, I was looking for something to do on a day trip to Ghent. Matias (sp) was our guide. He was prompt and engaging. He tried to include everyone in the group in conversation. I knew alcohol samples were included, but I cannot drink alcohol, so Matias hooked me up with a coffee at the last stop. All of the locations he took us had excellent samples and I would have liked some time at a couple stops to make a purchase (such as the chocolate). Since I was only on a day trip and had to catch the train back, circling back around was not an option.
Our guide Matthius was very knowledgeable & friendly. Not stingy with the tastings! Lots of info about not only the food & drink but the architecture & history of Ghent. Would 100% recommend.
This city is special. Many restaurants, bars and a great variety of delicious beer.
Debby was very cordial and a great guide. Many personal experiences with a truly great tour. We visited many places after the tour to explore more. A great tour to get the 'lay of the land'.
Great value. Learned about the city from a local while tasting and drinking many local items. Found a few gems I would not have experienced otherwise. Debbie was amazing!!
What a fun way to explore a new city. A great mix of local specialties, accompanied by great storytelling by guide Debbie. Definitely recommend this tour, and Ghent is lovely!
Debbie was our tour guide and she was amazing! She taught us so much history about Ghent, but also the places we visited. We had about 8 stops, and we definitely feel we got our money’s worth. All the food we tasted was delicious and the tour was about 3 hours, and never felt rushed. Highly recommend doing this if you come to Ghent and it being the first thing you do.
Lovely afternoon. A great way to start a long weekend. Learned lots and now I've got a plan of places to visit/eat/drink. Thank you.
The tour and experience in Ghent was absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed all the tasting items and were happy to hear the history behind the businesses and traditions in Ghent over the many years.
Nice tour, fun things. Just to bad it was in englisch. Nice guide, that told a bit of general facts.
Debbie was our guide, she was wonderful! Very knowledgeable and fun! Disappointed we didn’t get to try the best fries in Ghent fried in ox fat we went somewhere else on the tour. Overall highly recommend! Cheers
Debbie was a fantastic guide. She was so friendly and fun! We got great history lessons and lots of fun facts. We enjoyed a couple of versions of frites, cheese croquettes, and masterfully-made chocolates. This was a great way to get our bearings in Gent and learn about people, customs, and architecture. I’d highly recommend booking this tour, especially on the first day or two of your trip to Gent. Thank you for a great tour, Debbie!
Great guide, took us to places to try foods we probably never would have without the tour. Everything was fantastic and Emma was great.
Well-enough organised and decent content, but a little underwhelming and the only food tour we've ever done where we were hungry at the end!
Has a great tour of the city while trying different foods. Tom was a great tour guide! Consider taking out the candy stop (already done during the chocolate tour) and add one more food.
Fantastic time with Lemy. Really knowledgeable and entertaining. Would highly recommend to anyone who visits Ghent.
Great tour! Lots of information about the city, its history, and great food stops that were authentic to Ghent. 5/5 stars!
Ghent itself is beautiful and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about its history. But this was not a food tour. It was a history walking tour. Over the course of 3.5 hours, we had 1 prosciutto sample, 1 croquette, 1 marzapan candy, 1 Ghent local candy, 3 candy samples from the oldest candy store, we STOPPED at a chocolate store, and then had 3 chocolate tastings from a different chocolate tour. Unfortunately to me, candy isn't food and I was famished. I deliberately didn't eat beforehand assuming I would eat food during the tour, and was left disappointed. Again, the tour guide was professional and the city is beautiful. So if you're more interested in history over eating, then this is the tour for you.
Really great experience, our host Iris was very friendly, knowledgeable and gave us a great understanding of the history of Ghent combined with the tasting session. All great !!!, thank you Iris :)
Had a fantastic time on the tour and Lemme was knowledgable and kept things very fun and interesting Thanks for a brilliant experience !!
Yummy! The tour was a good mix of historical tidbits, very tasty snacks and nice vibe. Iris was a charming guide As a bonus, there was always a vegetarian option if so inclined.
Really pleasant and helpful young lady really passionate about Gent If i’m honest not easy start to recognising guide at meet point but not a problem in the end
Excellent tour with a very knowledgeable guide in a very interesting city. Lots of good stories to tell and some good nibbles all the way around. A great way to pass a couple of hours
I was, along with 40 other people, invited to celebrate a friends 40th birthday. Your tour was fun, tasty, filled with mindboggling factoids about Gents history and generally a very pleasant way to spend a few hours before dinner! I ejoyed your tour very much, and I know that everybody from our group that I spoke with agree! Johnny Dittmann
Excellent trip about the history of Ghent. Nice chocolate tasting and good drinks. Also nice that it is interactive.
We had a great afternoon with Nick from Charlie Tours! His passion for his city and the enthusiasm with which he explains the even lesser-known secrets of Ghent made this a great experience. If you want to learn about the real Ghent, visit some of the small local shops, taste some local specialties and just have a great time: we can highly recommend you to book a tour with Charlie Tours!
Nick was funny and informative, and the local tasting tour was without a doubt the best way to spend a few hours in Ghent, 100% would reccomend!
A very pleasant tour with a top guide and super tasty snacks! A recommendation!!
First of all...it was very fun and educational. But the tasting was very little (almost nothing). Deep-fried piece of broccoli, 2 (!) fries, piece of brownie, 5cc gin, candy and half a glass of golden dragon. That makes it very expensive. I paid almost 80 euros per person.
Enjoyed the tour of Ghent, which was told in an interesting way by Tom (in the hat). With his enthusiasm he took us all the way inside the stories about Ghent’s past. The tasters were also delicious!
On Saturday 15 November we were able to experience a very nice tour! Our guide Tom was top, compliments. A nice, energetic man who could tell fun facts about Ghent and the local shops, without it becoming a history lesson. The tastings were great!! Very cool to see the local businesses and taste the products. We experienced our Saturday afternoon as super positive. Highly recommended! Tom, thank you! A small tip for the organization: Make it possible to give a digital tip to the guides, for example via QR code. Nowadays fewer and fewer people are walking around with physical money but often want to tip such a great guide.
Very nice tour with a nice guide. Various tastings along the way, including of course chocolates and beer. Our guide Tom knew how to tell us about Ghent with passion and led us to places we wouldn't have found otherwise. Definitely value for money, so highly recommended!
With our company PPT Solutions we held our annual team event this time in Ghent, Belgium. We booked Charlie's Tasting Tour to discover Ghent with our group of ci. 17 men and whether this succeeded! Our guide was called Sanne and she showed us around the historic center of Ghent, which is beautiful. She told a lot about the history of Ghent and could also convey this in a fun way. Of course she took us to various restaurants, cafes and shops. At each place, she told you more about the history of the restaurant or store, giving you a better sense of the product you were going to consume. We had delicious chocolate chocolates, savoury snacks like a cheese croquette with delicious mustard, we were served gin and a hearty beer, you name it. Everything super well arranged and organized. Of course also for the owners of the catering establishments, because many of us have bought a box of chocolates or a jar of mustard. The combination of the good food, the historical history and the fun stories and anecdotes, made this tour a resounding success. Colleagues of mine have enjoyed it immensely and were very excited about the city and the tour. I would definitely recommend both. Sanne and Charlie's Tour, thanks for the top afternoon!
During our company trip to Ghent we booked the tasting tour with part of the group. The contact beforehand was good and there was fine thinking along with us. Guide Tom has taken us to different places in the city, making stops to taste different local delicacies. It was very nice to get some explanation about the city history in addition to the tastings and explanations about the tasting.
Super friendly tour guide. Snacks were very tasty and nice explanation of the city. Nice way to explore Ghent so.
A friend had booked the Charlie tasting tour Guide Iris has pleasantly maintained us for 2 hours and a half about some highlights of Ghent In between we stopped for some tasty Ghent snacks Highly recommended also for Ghent residents
Very moderate. There was (substantively) little information shared about the sights (where we did pass but little was told about them). The guide seemed to have a limited command of the English language, searching for words each time which made him not fluent. Wasn't easy to understand either. The snacks / tastings were okay but not special. However, the price quality ratio is not okay!
While it was chilly and cloudy in Ghent, my partner and I, together with ‘sun in the house’ guide Lemmy and a small group of tourists, walked through the streets of the Arteveldestad. It was a bit of a wait and see if we could learn anything as born and raised Ghentians ... but fortunately it did not become a tour with the classic parade of well-trodden paths. The local tasters (sometimes: ‘tasters’) were hugely appreciated, as was Lemmy’s Ghent knew-you-dates and accent. I would say ‘We will definitely be back’ but for another tour at Charlie Tours and also to the shops we (re)discovered. And Lemmy rocks ... what else could it be with such a name!
Informative tour with some stops to taste something. May be supplemented with stop for coffee.
Super fun tour with fun facts and discovering local specialties. Vera the guide was a nice girl who spoke about Ghent with passion. Highly recommended!!
Very witty tour with enthusiastic guide! Tasty tasters, fun anecdotes. The whole group was super satisfied with the tour. Well done!!
Super nice tour done, with different delicacies. Vera the guide was a nice lady, loose and very social, her explanation was also very clear and complete. We had a nice afternoon as a group of friends with the kids.
Vera is a TOP guide! She knows a lot about her city. We booked a tour in Spanish as the closing activity of the school year with the students of the evening school. Highly recommended.
Beautiful! Nick knows how to teach you a lot about 'his' Ghent in a fascinating way and with fun interaction. I have rarely experienced so much passion and energy in a city tour. Nick takes you to surprising places where you yourself as a Ghent native have never been.
A great experience with Nick, a very friendly, funny and enthusiastic guide who does the tour in English but also speaks a little French. This 2-hour tour with several stops to taste local specialties at handpicked craftsmen (and without any pressure to buy) is peppered with a multitude of surprising, funny and informative anecdotes about Ghent. We had a great time and would definitely recommend it. One tip: do it as soon as you arrive, the rest of your stay will be all the more interesting.
