We walk around the cathedral and discover its building history and its great art treasure.
Does the image of the Van Eyck brothers look like it?
On the Scheldt we meet various villains: the Vikings and Geeraard De Duivel!
In the Hoogpoort we reflect on ancient buildings that date back to the 13th century!
The town hall has been built for centuries. The guilty? The most famous Gentenaar: Emperor Charles V against whom the Gentenaars revolted and to whom we owe our nickname 'noose bearers'...
The most contested building in Ghent: do you know its nickname?
The houses on Korenmarkt date back 800 years of history. Some of them have a mysterious inscription...

Our guide knew Ghent (or Gent!) inside out, having lived in this lovely medieval city for many years. He was friendly yet professional throughout the walk and enjoyed telling us many, many engaging stories about the city he calls home and clearly loves!😊
Terrible. The tour operator was very vague where to meet and wasn't rhere. I messaged him and he said he was coming to get us. He never showed up or tried to coordinate with us. We had traveled all the way brussels and this was a complete waste of money and precious little time.
Wim was very knowledgeable about the city and had a real passion. We enjoyed the tour and learning history. Could have had more chocolate!!
Very knowledgeable young man, very passionate about Ghent, well prepared with photos showing how buildings looked in the past and the painting in the Cathedral. Would have no problem recommending him to anyone.
Our tour guide Wim was excellent, he was so knowledgeable about his city and gave us so much information, the tour was fun and it kept a good pace so we saw all the important aspects. The chocolates were fab! We really recommend this tour.
Tour was wonderful and very informative! The guide is very knowledgable. We had a great time and highly recommend doing it!
Wim was extremely knowledgable about the history of Gent and the history if the buildings. His tour was very fun and informative.
The tour was great. Wim was fully available to answer our questions and made the tour interactive by arousing our curiosity. The visit was very balanced: we learned a lot about the history of the city of Ghent as well as nowadays cultural reality. We warmly recommend Wim to discover the beautiful city of Ghent !
First available slot, great weather in the morning, easy-to-spot meeting place and good starting point for the story. The presentation was detailed, great attitude-didn't feel the 2 hours passing by. PS Came back to the shop for the yummy chocolates :)
It was a pleasure to look at all the magnificent buildings and to understand their purpose & history
We had an excellent and well prepared walk and talk through old Ghent with Wim, an historian and teacher. If you really want to spend two hours eating chocolate this isn't for you, but if you want to get s grip of how and why Ghent is as it is, then book up!
Very nice tour, highly recommended! The man knows what to tell about all the history and fake history of Ghent.
Wim is a teacher in his day job and is very knowledgeable about the history of Ghent. He points out architectural features of buildings that we would not have seen by ourselves, as well as the local history of Ghent. Wim brought to life our visit to Ghent. Highly recommended!
Wim was very knowledgeable about Ghent. He told us great stories about the history of Ghent and explored the architecture of the city. He also incorporated the religious aspects encountered in the city. K&M, Chelmsford, UK
Super nice and knowledgeable tour guide, very personal approach, and the chocolate chocolates were heavenly. Highly recommended
A very knowledgeable guide, who gave us a nice private tour. Lots of information, very interesting. We are very satisfied.
Wim is een deskundige en zeer goede gids en aangenaam in omgang De rondleiding overtrof mijn verwachtingen. Dikke 10 en merci voor de leuke middag.
Wim has a clear and pleasant voice and gave us a very interesting morning. His passion for the city's history was infectious. We were already fans of Ghent, but now even more so! Highly recommended!
Saturday September 9, Today we were guided around Ghent for an afternoon with a group of 60 people from the Walchersmannenkoor and held 3 singing concerts in 2 churches and the 123piano. All this arranged by and with Wim. A man with a lot of knowledge about the city and a fascinating storyteller, passionate about his work. Had a nice afternoon and enjoyed the city of Ghent.
Hugely enjoyable tour of Ghent. Wim talks passionately about Ghent history. Absolutely recommended
Wim knows a lot, a lot, about Ghent. He knows how to captivate you from start to finish with a wide variety of stories and histories of the city. We were a group of four and got full attention. We had a lot of questions and Wim knew how to answer them, often with a joke. Despite a few showers in between we had a great morning! Thanks Wim! Greetings, Harrie, Karin, Pep and José
Wim is een gepassioneerde gids die met veel enthousiasme en naturel over Gent verteld. Als bezoeker krijg je informatie die je niet in brochures vindt.
Wim is a historian and a teacher... from experience we know that these are the ideal guides! Likewise Wim, who could tell us the necessary history about all Ghent buildings. Enthusiastic, animated, and with the necessary knowledge. TOP!
I've been to the village green gloomy, really beautiful, fantastic staff in particular Alessia the bartender, a fairy tale, beautiful and professional, practically perfect
Wim is a fantastic guide. He talks about the highlights of Ghent in a fun, animated way. You get a good idea of the history of the city.
A fascinating walk through historic Ghent with a guide wim who could tell this in a fascinating way with a taste of 2 chocolates from the best chocolatier in Ghent in between
Zeer de moeite waard deze stadswandeling. rustige en informatieve gids die zeer boeiend kan vertellen en de stad goed onder ogen brengt.
Wim was a perfect guide, very quiet, engaging and with the right information and examples. We thoroughly enjoyed this fascinating city walk and therefore strongly recommend this walk. FYI; masks were no longer required at the time of this hike and a transport vehicle was not needed. I couldn't choose a NVT, hence Not sure!
Wim is Fantastic! Not only does he have knowledge but he is also fun to cross the city with. He has a lot of patience and knew an answer to all our questions!
Een mooie rondleiding met een goed enthousiaste gids, bij de chocolatier zou het iets langer mogen duren.
