I have visited Ghent many times, one of my favorite destinations in Belgium. The Marriott in Ghent is my preferred hotel. Great staff, location, and rooms. Highly recommend this hotel if visiting Ghent. Breakfast has a nice variety along with dinner options. Evening and early morning walks are beautiful. The staff made every visit memorable.
Really Disappointing Stay We have been Marriott Bonvoy members for many years. We have always enjoyed our stays at any Marriott property so we decided to stay at one in Ghent Belgium. We were staying for our anniversary. From the onset, at check-in, we were first not given the room we had reserved. This resulted in a change of rooms for which we paid an up-charge. We were given a free drink at the Poppi bar. Really enjoyed it; however, we never saw the waiter again so we could not even order a second drink if we wanted one. What left a particularly poor memory was our last night of stay. We were not informed or told that half of the Ghent music festival would be on the canal right outside our windows. There was absolutely no sleep that night. We were on the first floor and the excessively loud music with the added feature of strobe lights made for a horrible night. We asked for a wake up call the next morning, 5:30 AM, and that did not happen. The irony is we were pretty much awake from the music the night before so we were able to make our flight. On the positive side of our stay, the breakfast at the hotel restaurant on the premises was very good and the staff there provided great service.
I had a fantastic stay at the Ghent Marriott. The location is absolutely perfect, right in the heart of everything. The room was impressively clean and spacious, definitely above the European standard. A huge highlight for me was the filtered water station on every floor; it’s such a thoughtful, eco-friendly touch. The AC was also a standout, strong and reliable, which is a rare luxury in Europe! I want to give a special shout-out to Montse, who checked us in. She was incredibly warm, welcoming and provided us with so much useful local information. She truly elevated our experience. I did find the service from one of the other front desk staff members to be quite cold and not very welcoming, which was a sharp contrast to the high standard set by Montse. Despite that, the property itself is excellent and I would highly recommend it.
Centrally located in Ghent, and an easy walk to everywhere that you are must likely to go/want to see. Right near the canal, and best the churches and the castle in the opposite direction. The staff was very nice and polite. We got there a little early, but they checked us in and have us a room, which we are grateful for. Free, fruit infused water in the lobby and a large, open sitting area. Price for the room was very reasonable. Two European Queen beds, okay for two people if you don't mind being close. Room quality was fine. Bathroom was clean and modern. Ghent is a beautiful city, and we would definitely stay here if we return.
As someone who is actually from Ghent, I find myself returning to the Ghent Marriott quite often when I need a break and some quiet time. Even as a local, it feels like a small escape in the heart of the city. The location is unbeatable—right in the center, yet once you're inside, it feels calm and relaxed. Having private parking is a big advantage in such a busy area, and there are usually taxis available right outside, which makes getting around effortless. The lobby is one of my favorite parts: spacious, quiet, and very cozy. It’s a great place to unwind or have a casual meeting. The rooms are comfortable, and everything is consistently clean, including the bathrooms, which are always well maintained. The staff truly stands out—friendly, helpful, and professional at all times. You feel welcomed from the moment you arrive. The restaurant is also a highlight, especially if you enjoy quality meat dishes. The food is excellent, and the service there matches the high standard of the hotel—attentive and efficient. Overall, whether you're visiting Ghent or, like me, just looking for a relaxing staycation, this hotel delivers a reliable and enjoyable experience every time.
