We were lucky enough to have Bill as our guide. Very nice fellow with a sense of humor and a ton of knowledge. He was very flexible in the schedule and we changed things up a bit based on our interests and what we had already seen before. Bill understood pretty early on what we might be interested in generally and provided an outstanding experience. His van was comfortable and clean. He was on time, and he dropped us off at a nearby restaurant we wanted to try out at the end of our tour. We had already done the hop-on, hop-off tour so we didn’t think we’d learn anything new in the historic district, but Bill provided much better insight and stopped at places we wanted to get a closer look at. We were quite pleased with our tour and our time with Bill. I think most people would be. Highly recommended.

Tybee Island has been of strategic importance to Georgia since the early 18th century, which made the Island’s northern tip an ideal location for a lighthouse. The lighthouse was first built in 1736 and was the tallest structure (90 feet) in America at the time.
After touring the lighthouse and historic support buildings, we will head to the Tybee Pier and Pavilion to experience the resort feel of this charming island.
Located on Cockspur Island, Fort Pulaski is one of the best preserved forts from the Civil War. Learn about the Siege of Fort Pulaski in 1862 and the Union military technology that forced the Confederate surrender and closed the port of Savannah.

Bill was friendly, knowledgeable about Savannah and its history, showed us the highlights of the city and pointed out places to visit and dine during our stay.
We have been on tours all over the world and this one with Andy was one of the best. It was outstanding in communication, accommodation and information. We saw places we would never seen on our own and learned so much about the city and its history. Andy was an outstanding guide.
Really enjoyed the tour. Andy did a fabulous job. I feel I got a great sense of the city, its history and the surrounding areas. Highly recommend
Great tour and a lot of information. Guide was great and we got to see many sights in Savannah and nearby.
Bill went above and beyond. He picked us up at our Hotel, and we headed to Tybee Island. He showed us around, and then we toured the lighthouse. We then toured Fort Pulaski. That was so impressive. Then we headed to Isle of Hope. What a beautiful island. We headed back to Savannah all the while answering any questions we had. Bill was a wealth of knowledge and information. He also gave us ideas for our remaining days. I highly recommend Bill and this tour. Will be passing his information onto friends. Thanks for a great day!
Andy is knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible with the tour. This is a wonderful tour to get a great overview of both Tybee Island and Historic Savannah. We covered lots of ground comfortably. We were able to walk Tybee Pier, go Bonaventure cemetery, visit St. John the Baptist Catholic Cathedral, and most of the historic downtown squares and old homes of Savannah. This tour is a great overview of what makes Tybee Island and Savannah special and unique. Highly recommend this tour.
Great historical overview. Andy was well versed in the areas history and geography. He was quite entertaining and told great stories.
Loved seeing the city. Bill Bell was a wonderful guide. He was very knowledgeable and kind to us. I particularly liked that the tour was flexible. We could stop when we wanted to see something, and not when a street view was enough.
This is our first visit to Savannah so we wanted to take a small group or private guided tour in order to learn about the history and the surrounding area. This tour did not disappoint. Our guide was Rose and she was awesome. She is from Savannah and was so knowledgeable. First we went to Tybee Island followed by a stop at Fort Pulaski. We learned about the history of both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Our next visit was to Bonaventure Cemetary. Rose helped us understand the history as well as separating fact from fiction regarding ‘Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil’. Next we visited the Squares in the Savannah historic district and then returned to our hotel. A wonderful morning tour! Thank you, Rose!
Tour was very informative! Our tour guide was quite knowledgeable. Our transportation was very nice and clean. Really enjoyed our tour.
Bill is very knowledgeable and provided interesting historical data. The tour of Tybee Island was very informative and provided a contrast of the more bustling Old Town Savannah. Fort Pulaski is a great lesson in history. Bill took us not only to many historical points of interest in Old Town Savannah but also to sections outside the area. He will arrange his tour to accommodate your interests.
My family and I drove up to Savannah for the day from Jeckyll island. This tour was a great way to hit a lot of the highlights of Savannah and Tybee Island. Bill was awesome! Very knowledgeable and accommodating. Definitely recommend this tour to anybody visiting for the day or for folks staying in Savannah that want some suggestions on where to spend more time during their stay.
Jon was a wonderful guide. He was extremely knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed our day!!! Loved seeing all the beautiful homes.
We loved Ft. Pulaski and the Bonaventure cemetery. Bill took us to all the squares in Savannah and so many sights!
Andy was a fantastic guide. He was very personable and knowledgeable. He kept us on task while at the same time being open to letting the conversation "flow" based on what interested us. Thanks, Andy, for a fun and informative tour!
Bill did a great job! He was friendly and informative. He was also very willing to modify the tour based on our interests. Would definitely recommend.
Andy was an excellent tour guide. Friendly, knowledgable, accommodating. We found this tour to be a helpful resource to kick our visit to Savannah. We highly recommend DTours!
The guide was very knowlagable and took his time yelling us about everything. Was very nice tour and would recomend it.
My husband and i needed to fill in some time before our afternoon flight so we booked a private tour with Rose. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer, more knowledgeable accommodating guide! She shared with us additional ‘insights’ to several of the historic places in Savannah that we weren’t aware of from the regular group tours we typically go on! My husband said this was his favorite part of our Savannah trip! Rose, and D Tours, were so accommodating taking us to the sites we didn’t make it to during our ‘too short’ trip and arranged to take us to the airport for our flight. We enjoyed our 5 hours, with Rose, immensely. Highly recommend D Tours, and esp Rose!
We really enjoyed our time with Bill. We covered a lot of ground in Historic Savannah and Tybee Island. He also gave us restaurant ideas and places to go later that afternoon.
Andy was awesome! My husband is hard of hearing and Andy made sure he spoke up and faced my husband when possible. It worked! The trip to Tybee was great with a history lesson and facts the whole way out and back to the city. Bonaventure Cemetery was amazing, with stories about some of the “residents”, including Johnny Mercer. More stories and history and photo ops thru the historic areas. Great day, brought Savannah to life! Thank you, Andy!
Guide was knowledgeable and went out of his way to explain historical facts in detail. He answered all our questions.
Great tour, amazing guide and great places to see. The only thing that wish was different is a bit more stops to get out of the car within the historic district versus just seeing things from the car. While the stops with options to walk out and explore at Tybee Island were just perfect.
Don't fact check Andy, his knowledge of Savannah is amazing! The tour felt like a ride with an old friend, a really smart old friend. We came away wanting to return to Savannah sooner than later and I know that we will.
we did a four hour tour with Andy. My wife is a history buff and Andy knew his history. Four hours of history, fun facts and stories. When we did a tour of one of the houses we knew more then the tour guide(thanks to Andy). We ran into people over the weekend that did the Trolley tour and they wished they did our tour. (plus is that its air conditioned.) This should be required. I recommend you did it on your first or second day so you can fill in other things. ( we stopped at every square and several historic landmarks where he explained what it was or why it was famous)
This was the best tour. Our tour guide Bill was super knowledgeable, professional, flexible and fun. I was so impressed with all that we experienced. This tour is the best tour you can take in Savannah.
Andrew was extremely knowledgeable and entertained us the entire 4 hour tour with his stories. I highly recommend his tour!
Our guide Andy was really knowledgeable of the history of Savannah and we really appreciated the added background!
Bill was a fantastic guide and was very accommodating and we enjoyed the tour completely! Tybee Island is beautiful, and we liked climbing the lighthouse. We also enjoyed Fort Pulaski.
Bill Bell was our tour guide. He was excellent . Very knowledge and so accomdating!! He made our tour excellent. Recommend him highly.
The tour guide was amazing. He was very personable and knowledgeable, and gave us great recommendations for the rest of our stay. The tour was the highlight of our trip!
We had a great time and learned so much from Andy on this tour. He was a wonderful driver. Highly recommend!
The fort was really awesome! Jamie far exceeded our expectations. She was thorough and extremely accommodating! Strongly suggest you request her if you are booking!
Janie was wonderful!! She drove us wherever we asked her too. She shared her knowledge of Savannah history. I would highly recommend her
What a fun tour! Danette showed us so many places that we would have missed in Savannah had it not been for her knowledge and expertise. We were looking for a way to see the places away from the historic district where we were staying. We got to experience Tybee Island, Ft Polaski, Bonaventure Cemetery, and Wormsloe. Danette was flexible with our choices (and we gladly paid admission to Wormsloe since it wasn’t part of the standard tour). This approach worked well for us and private tours really the best way to see the sights!
My husband Jack and I had wonderful time with Bill! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and his hospitality. Savannah is beautiful!
A great day exploring with a wonderful guide. Bill was really knowledgeable and friendly. We had fun and appreciated all of Bill’s recommendations for other things to see on our trip.
Excellent tour with Andy! He is professional and informed about Savannah and all this beautiful city has to offer!
Our personal guide, Andy, was ver personable and knowledgeable. We were in Savannah for only two days and my husband is unable to walk distances, so taking this private tour was best for us. I would recommend to anyone wanting to learn all about the history and see the beautiful sights of Savannah.
Janie was a wonderful guide! She was thorough and resourceful and made sure we were interested in anything she suggested before she took us to do it. She offered suggestions for things to do during our stay including other tours and the best dinner spots. Can’t recommend this tour or Janie enough!
I really didn't have one particular favorite on this tour and what I did really like is that it left me feeling like I really got a chance to get a complete view of Historic Savannah. Andy was super accommodating, friendly, easy to be around and informative.
Great guide- he was very knowledgeable of the area/history and flexible with the tour/sites. Great to see both Savannah and Tybee Island.
We had the most wonderful day with our guide Janie, we had already seen the historic district on the trolley so she took us to Bonaventure cemetery and then to Tybee Island. She was so knowledgeable about the cemetery and all the sites we saw and was so nice and accommodating. We highly recommend her for your personal tour!
Jaine was great. Very well prepared , knowledgeable, and organized. Wonderful historical tour of Fort Pulaski, Tybee island, and the historical part of Savannah. Very pleasant to listen to and gave us lots of info of all kinds . She was very flexible and altered the trip so we could see Johnny Mercers birthplace which was great for me because I am a musician. She gave us good advice about other places to visit and restaurants for the rest of our stay. The tour was so much better than taking an unairconditioned trolley around town in the heat.
From Tybee Island lighthouse, Fort Pulaski to the downtown historic district, Andy was a wealth of information. It was mentioned at the Williams Mercer House about the trials, book and the movie filmed there. Thank you for our favorite tour of our trip.
Andy was a fantastic guide. Very thorough tour of the historic district. Weather wasn’t cooperating so made a last minute decision to change areas since Tybee was thunder and lightning storm. Really appreciated the flexibility, the humor, the incredible detail of the landmarks. I learned a ton!
The first 2 hours of the tour was good as we visited Tybee Island (which I never knew existed), the Tybee Lighthouse, and Fort Pulaski. We even went inside and climbed the lighthouse which was pretty cool. Our tour guide, Andy, was somewhat informative but we didn't find him at all an expert in anything. The last 2+ hours of the tour was very disappointing. It was the historic district of Savannah. We were stuck in Andy's car for at least 2 hours driving around all the different squares, and we felt like prisoners. We would've been better off booking one of those trolly tours where we can least hop-on/hop-off. Photo-ops-- forget it, it doesn't exist on this tour. Yes it was raining, but you'd think a good tour company would look at the weather and provide umbrellas- esp when you're paying a premium for the private tour. As for the tour guide Andy, Yes, he did provide some interesting info, but it felt more like he just memorized what was on written on the plaques and was not engaging at all. In addition, he definitely doesn't like to have conversations and had no sense of humor. He was just there spitting out facts but in a non-interesting way. To be honest, I recommend just renting a car to Tybee Island and the fort, then booking a trolley tour in Historic Savannah instead. You would probably get a better experience than this private tour.
The whole private tour was amazing! Janie was very nice and knowledgeable of Savannah and Tybee Island. I would highly recommend asking for Janie!
Danette was a knowledgeable, professional yet fun guide who planned an excellent 4 hour tour. It was the perfect way for us to get an overview of the area.
