Very enjoyable. Our host was very friendly and knowledgeable. Tour was easy, informative, and very well done.
Having read the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil; and watched the movie, it was so wonderful to go to the places and actually see them in person. Ryan was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the book, the people & places in Savannah that the author wrote about. He also had additional information and stories which were interesting and entertaining. We have been on many tours and this is absolutely —by far the best! I highly recommend it.

Our tour guide was exceptional. If you loved the book, don't miss this tour because you will learn so much about it, as well as the history of Savannah. Be prepared to walk on uneven surfaces and don't forget to eat lunch at Clary's after the tour.
Ryan provided us with interesting facts and lots of laughter as we followed the steps of Jim Williams. A true delight.
Very authentic, knowledgeable and humorous tour. Great guide. Highly recommend
Great tour! We all really enjoyed it.

Wonderful tour! Ryan is very educated and informative. He’s a fun story teller and gives you all the tea on book/movie characters and their lives. Highly recommend!
Fantastic insight into the world of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The real, true background as our guide does his research.
Excellent!! This was our first trip to Savannah so at the suggestion of multiple people I watched the movie just before we left, didn’t have enough time to read the book. Our guide Ryan brought so much more to the tour! He gave inside details about characters and details and from the story, that I have been inspired to read the book! I highly recommend this tour! It was absolutely fantastic!
Our tour guide was great! He has done all the research and has talked to some of the people who were there, including the author. His tour gave us all the fact vs. fiction of the book and movie, took us to some of the actual locations and showed us pictures of many of the characters from the book. If you loved the book or movie, I would definitely take this tour.
Ryan was amazing. So incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. Loved the tour and would recommend it for anyone who loves the book and movie.
This tour was outstanding from start to finish. Ryan is an amazing guide with deep knowledge of Savannah’s history and an exceptional storytelling style that truly brings Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil to life. The tour offered rich details, thoughtful insights, and perfectly chosen locations, making the story feel grounded and immersive. The added historical and movie photos were a fantastic bonus, helping connect the narrative to real people and places. Ryan was also incredibly helpful in navigating Savannah’s squares, something that made the experience even more enjoyable and stress-free. On top of all that, the follow-up messages with recommendations for places to eat and additional sites to see were above and beyond. If you’re even remotely interested in the book, the movie, or Savannah’s layered history, this tour is an absolute must.
It was great. Tour guide was super knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He was also very accommodating.
My husband and I highly recommend this tour. Ryan is a friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. We thoroughly enjoyed our time touring with him and hearing all the side notes and suggestions regarding Savannah and like topics.
The guide was very knowledgeable. It was a very interesting tour through Savannah focusing on the major landmarks written about in the book and seen in the movie.
Guide was very knowledgable, learned about other pieces of Savannah history as well. He had photos of the actual people, as well as a few non-gory crime scene photos.
Perfect! Ryan was the consulate guide. Friendly and very knowledgeable. We learned so much about the book, the movie and some Savannah history thrown in for good measure. Highly recommend!
This was a great overview of the events having to do with the actual case. I never read the book or seen the movie and Ryan gave insight which helped me understand the events and the case. Was a very enjoyable walk through the city.
Great experience overall. Didn’t have a car, so we walked everywhere except to Boneventure cemetery for a walking tour. We stayed downtown so everything was really close. The hop on/off trolly tour lets you see everything and see lots of restaurants to visit. The afternoon lunch cruise on the river was really nice, although there were lots of old people on the boat. No wait, I’m one of those old people now. We frequented River street every day. We also did the low entry Ghosty tour and the walking ghost tour, both of which were really good. Dined at the Pirate house, the cotton exchange, and a few others. I tried the candy and it was exceptional. Our hotel was nice and quiet and the people are very friendly. It’s smaller than you think, and very easy to get around by foot. It is uneven surfaces, so watch for tripping hazards. October is a great time to visit Savannah, as the humidity is low, and very mild temperatures. Shopping is plentiful, and Leopolds ice cream shop is the bomb.
It was very entertaining tour. The guide was so knowledge and made it very fun! The ipad pictures were great. Highly recommend but make sure to read the book and/ or movie first.
Our guide, and owner, was excellent. He took us to all the iconic sites, shared interesting back stories and insights, showed pictures of the real characters, shared how the movie deviated from the book, and gave background on the real characters. It was a great tour!
The tour guide Ryan is also one of the owners of the business. He is a wealth of knowledge regarding the people and all matters surrounding the Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. He makes Savannah come alive again through his stories and pictures of the real characters of the book and movie. Very happy I booked this tour and blessed that Ryan was our guide.
Ryan was very informative and enjoyable to listen to. He obviously has a vast knowledge of the book and movie, but also of Savannah and its rich history, so take advantage and ask him questions. It’s obvious that he loves sharing the stories! This was a highlight of our first time trip here!
Personable and informative, with great insights into the history of Savannah. You really don’t want to miss this!
Had a blast! Janey was our guide and she was amazing. Great walk through this chapter in Savannah history. And a great way to visit several pubs along the way and get to know the town. Highly recommend this on your first night in town! Cheers to all the ladies from the Ohio book club that joined... they are way more cool than the title suggests =).
Right amount of information, my husband was not familiar with the story so the guide filled in the history so we all enjoyed it.
Interesting facts backed up with photos. This tour gives the lay of the land concerning the main characters from the book and the movie. Ryan was fun to listen to and suggested a few other reads that I’m looking forward to picking up. It was a great pace and the walk was comfortable. I would definitely recommend! Thanks!
This was one of our favorite things we did on our recent trip to Savannah. Ryan was so knowledgeable. Highly recommend taking this tour.
Informative, entertaining and just what we hoped for. We had all read the book and watched the movie and are huge fans of both. Tour did not disappoint!
Very informative, leisurely stroll through Savannah hitting most of the highlights of the book/movie. Interesting how the author took liberties within the book, but they were pointed out. Hear a lot about the characters in the book who live/lived here. Ryan is very knowledgeable and easy going. Nice that the tour ended at the Williams Mercer House which was close to our AirBNB. Highly Recommend.
I highly recommend this tour, you will not regret it!! Very interesting historical tidbits that you wont hear elsewhere. Our guide, Ryan was excellent.
We loved our tour. The guide was extremely interesting, fun and had a good grasp on the history. We would highly recommend!
Jayne was amazing! She was exceptionally knowledgeable about the subject, but also about the area and kept us enthralled with the story. Highly recommend for an evening out.
Ryan was such a great guide — we had a very nice tour with my family & friends. Very informative, funny at times and you could tell Ryan has a passion for what he does. To even help us with the heat he had some extra water for us! Highly recommend Ryan!
A truly wonderful tour! "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" was the reason I wanted to visit Savannah in the first place and Afterlife Tours made the dream into a reality. Ryan is a fantastic guide: witty, down-to-earth, extremely friendly, and so knowledgeable. In the book (and even more in the film), names of have been changed and Ryan not only did research to tell the tour attendees who the real individuals were, but what were their own histories and connections with one another, both during the events of the book/film and after the story became such a blockbuster success. Ryan also had rare crime scene photos and pictures of the individuals themselves. The tour was brisk and fun; best time to go is in the morning, especially given how hot Savannah can get. Afterwards, Ryan very kindly sent messages with further reading suggestions and tips of places to visit/experience that are featured in the book/film but not on the tour itself. I *HIGHLY* recommend this tour for fans of the book/film but also to anyone who wants a delightful opportunity to learn more about Savannah's eccentric history. Thank you so much Ryan!
