Our tour was very informative. Our guide was amazing, providing a great deal of information and using humor as much as possible.
Our guide was outstanding. He was very knowledgeable and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour.
Guide was knowledgeable and entertaining!
Kelce (sp) was excellent. Described the atmosphere of Savannah both before and after the war. He told the facts as they were. Highly recommend this tour.
Tour guide was great!! We learned a lot and got a great work out!! Highly recommended!! The history in Savannah is rich!!
Very interesting about the history of Savannah.
Title is somewhat misleading; even our guide said the Civil War had little effect on Atlanta. Heard all rhe guide had to say in an earlier Historic District Tour.
This is was by far the best tour I’ve EVER been on! Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the history of Savannah come alive with interesting stories and facts. I learned so much and left with a deeper appreciation for the city. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Savannah, especially if you enjoy history!!!
Our guide was full of good historical information and delivered it with enthusiasm and interesting tidbits. However we did stand at our meeting point for 40 minutes prior to starting the walking tour! 😆 I think that portion should have been cut short.
Guide was very knowledgeable. Not boring at all as some Civil War/historic tours can be. Answered questions and told of personal experiences. Loved it. 10/10 recommend
Covered info far beyond just the Civil War while still covering the Civil War. Lovely squares all explained.
Interesting history but felt that it was dragged out and lacked audience engagement, more geared towards a mature audience- kids were bored even though my youngest loves all things history and has enjoyed similar tours in the past. Felt very classroom-like
Marcia was the best. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. Learned a few things didn’t know about the civil war. Highly recommended to others.
Excellent overview of civil war history but also contained talking points that would be interesting to all kinds of your groups
**Tour Rating: 5.0 / 5.0** Mr. Spinks delivers a masterclass in Georgia history. His depth of knowledge is exceptional. Not surface-level anecdotes. Not rehearsed sound bites. He walks you through Georgia year by year during the Civil War, connecting military movements, political shifts, and economic realities with precision. Each key figure is introduced with context, motivations, and consequences. Generals, governors, civilians. He explains not just what happened, but why it mattered. The location detail is equally strong. Battle sites, rail lines, coastal defenses, Savannah, Atlanta, rural strongholds. He anchors each story to geography so the narrative becomes tangible. What stands out most is his discipline with facts. He separates documented history from folklore. He addresses urban myths directly and dismantles them with primary-source reasoning. That level of intellectual honesty elevates the entire experience. This is not a casual tour. It is structured, chronological, and substantive. If you value historical accuracy, context, and narrative continuity, Mr. Spinks sets a high bar.
This is must experience tour for anyone interested in history from pre revolution to recent times. A info filled two hour tour. Highly recommended.
William was full of great information. Great tour of historic Savannah, recapping history. He was able to answer all the questions.
This was an amazing tour. Will was an excellent personable tour guide with sone funny anecdotes and lots of historical info about Savannah. Even though this eas billed a civil war tour there was little to no fighting in Savannah during the civil war. Will was a wonderful tour guide who gave us tons of info about current and past geography of Savannah. He wrnt above and beyond our expectations, even extending our tour a bit. He made food recommendations and other sightseeing recommendations which was truly appreciated. Highly recommend this tour.
Brad was very informative and super friendly! We enjoyed the history and stories along the way. I was suggest this to any history buff!
This is a don’t miss! Of all our Savannah tours, this was the absolute best. Mike was our tour guide and knew so much he sounded like a college professor—dates, background, political climate, military strategy, economics, major players, and on and on. He gives ample time for questions and follow up. He gives time for rest breaks and cool-off places under the trees. He starts and finishes on time. You can’t go wrong (and we’re a pretty tough crowd to please).
We really enjoyed our tour with Brad. As very novice historians, we appreciated that he explained the background details to the Civil War in Savannah. The tour was interesting and we learned so much. Our guide was quite the historian! We also had plenty of opportunities for pictures. Highly Recommended
This was an amazing private collection that Savannah is so blessed to have in their city! Mr. Webb is selfless in allowing the public to be a part of witnessing this amazing collection!
Guide was very knowledgeable of history. Got to see a lot of historic district about 2 mile walk wear comfortable shoes
Very interesting, highly recommend. It is good for older kids, especially those who like to learn more about American history and heritage, all circumstances that led to the Civil War.
You will be amazed at all you will learn from the tour. Brad our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable, as well as courteous.
We were a group of eight, very interested in history. Brad was full of knowledge and we learned so much. He answered our questions thoroughly. He was easy to hear and understand. The pace of the tour was perfect. He gave suggestions of areas to revisit to dig deeper. We would recommend this tour without hesitation.
Very informative and I ur guide was funny! We went during Covid and we were impressed on how even outside tours people wore masks!
I’ve been on dozens of historic tours and what I enjoy most is seeing passion by the guide for their historical subject. Oftentimes the guide is regurgitating historical information but Zack’s enthusiasm for Savannah history was evident. Book it, you won’t be disappointed.
I booked and paid for a civil war tour that should have been today at 10am om the 4th December 2024. I was at the meeting point 40 minutes before the sheduled departure and waited until 10.10 am but no guide showed up! I have heard nothing from the company! Now I get another mail from them, saying that I have the same tour booked fir tomorrow, which I have never booked and will not attend! I really thing this whole experience has been so unprofessionel
Excellent tour! Learned a ton of information and really enjoyed going in an old cotton factory down by the river. It’s now a very classy restaurant. We can highly recommend this tour.
Zack was awesome! He was engaging, funny, and very informative. Everyone learned a lot! We all appreciated how he made the stories come to life.
Our guide was very informative but the first 45 minutes of our 1.5 hour tour was about the establishment and history of Savannah. Only the last 40-45 minutes had anything to do with Civil War.
Great tour with incredible attention to historic accuracy. Definitely saw sites we would not have found on our own. Great job Zach!
Zach was , 20 mins late but well made up for it with a great tour well worth it , a must if you come to Savannah
Great tour with Zach, a Savannah native, who was engaging and personable and kept the small group entertained with information about Savannah during the Civil War and much more.
Zach did a great job showing us around and loved learning the little bits of information that you don’t find in textbooks.
Zack was our guide and he did a great job explaining the details of all the historical sites. There was quite a bit of walking involved and Zack was very patient and waited at each site until we all got there.
The guide was humorous and knowledgable. Very engaging. Nice overview of the early history of Savannah, and interesting Civil War information.
It was fun and very informative. Zack had an impressive amount of knowledge about the civil war. And savannah in general
Zac was informative, fun and great with our questions! The tour was just long enough. As a family we enjoyed the experience!
Great walking tour! Our guide Zack was very informative about the history of Savannah during the time before and during the Civil War. Not a strenuous walk, many stopping points and great photo spots. Make sure to get your guide a Corona when you stop at the bar/restaurant 😊 I highly recommend this tour!
Zack had a real knack for giving the group great historical facts and a a bit of trivia To entertain us. He was nonstop and seemed to enjoy sharing his knowledge of Savannah and its involvement in the civil war Kudos to our 23,year old guide
Our tour guide was Zach. From the time we met up with him right until the end of tour. He was very knowledgeable about the topics and had an easy going and relaxed way of telling the history. I would definitely recommend doing this tour.
Our guide, Zach, was great and was very informative! He even brought his new puppy along, Hazel who was adorable and very friendly. I’ve been to Savannah many times before and learned a lot that I hadn’t previously known! Go check out this tour, well worth the time!
Guide was very knowledgeable and was a lot of fun. His stories were amusing and the tour was informative.
This was partly our fault - I hadn't realized how little Sherman truly affected Savannah in the war. We expected more content on the war, but a great amount of the tour was the history of Savannah. We still learned some things, but the lack of historical recounting of the war left us a little disappointed.
Zack was great! He definitely knew his stuff! Zack Being born and raised in Savannah he was the perfect tour guide. It was myself and my twin 17 year old boys. Zack keep us all engaged and gave us all the information but not to much. He stayed on topic which to me a guide that jumps around and gives too much information makes me check out. I have traveled the world and done many tours but Zack was by far one of top two guides I have ever had. Got to see some beautiful places also.
Great walking tour. Lots of beautiful sites and learned a lot! Our tour guide Zach was funny and engaging. Highly recommend although not sure I’d want to do it in the worst of the summer heat!
It was a good tour describing the history of Savannah. Tour could use a stronger focus on the Civil War.
