The guided tour was very interesting, but the first few segments were hard to hear due to a ridiculously loud video playing on repeat nearby. The rooms are small and people doing the self-guided tour end up crowding around and a few even stayed with our tour all the way through. That being said, it was very informative and they had our drink waiting for us at the cool speakeasy at the end.
I will admit my expectation was low for this. We did the guided tour and they far exceeded what I was expecting. The staff were all in costume and character. The guide took our drink orders and waited for everyone to arrive. The guide was very personable and friendly and had a funny sense of humor. We had a great time and when we got to the bar area our drinks were ready. I asked for napkins and he cleaned the whole table. We have zero complaints about our tour and were well taken care of. All the staff seemed to coordinate well in their duties to deliver a seamless overall excellent experience.
We had so much fun here! Our costumed guide provided a wonderful overview of Prohibition and its impact. The exhibits were interesting and some were interactive (want to hold a tommy gun for a pic?} The exhibit ends with a visit to a speakeasy and a real drink! My gin rickey was great. I would definitely recommend this stop if you're visiting Savannah.
Excellent museum and tour guide Ozzie was well spoken, and informative. We learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed the museum. The cocktail at the end was perfect.
A fascinating and immersive museum. Well worth the entrance fee!
We did the VIP experience which included a cocktail making class in the speakeasy at the end of the tour. The only reason I gave a 4/10 for the museum tour is that I wish we had 5 minutes to look at the displays I felt very rushed. .The 19th century vibe in the speakeasy was super cool and the cocktail class was super informative and fun!! I have a whole new appreciation for the Old Fashion.
Lots to learn about prohibition. Fun stories and a great tour guide with drinks at the end of the interesting tour.
Took the self tour ~ good information and enjoyed the displays. I had forgotten how long Prohibition lasted! Beware of steps for those with special needs. Lots to read to get the full experience of that historical period. Likely missed out on info a tour guide would have provided but didn't think it would be worth a $40. Entrance fee. Glad I went though!
This is such a fun museum for a quick overview of the prohibition error. It covers everything from the local history to the famous gangsters like prohibition. One of my favorite parts was learning about Carrie Nation. I’ve been to Carrie Nation cocktail club in Boston but I didn’t realize she was a famous prohibition era figure. At the end of the museum, you can enter a speakeasy.
The museum says that last tours begin at 4:15 p.m. We went first to the Pirate Museum then walked up to the Prohibition Museum exactly at 4:15 p.m. and the doors were already closed and locked. Tried to call but only got some ticket seller in another location who couldn't help us. Seems somebody wanted to go home early because it was Saturday. Trying now to get my money back.
The tour guide was very good, the museum displays were interesting to read. The wax figures were real looking.
Interesting facts about prohibition era. Fun bar!
Where do we start! This is one of the coolest museums I’ve been too. It is really more of an experience. I thought it would be tacky but it was very tasteful and informative. I would suggest taking the guided tour to get the best out of the museum. Our guide Serena was such an engaging character. She even used a period correct accent! Very committed to delivering a great guest experience. The content of the museum covers both sides of the wet and dry movements. Really interesting part of history in the heart of Savannah!!
The guided museum tour with Ethan was really informative. The cocktail at the end didn't hurt either. It convinced us to book the cocktail class that evening with Jackson. Time flew! So many things I didn't know about the drinks we've been enjoying for years!
Really enjoyed this experience especially the cocktail lesson. Great job to Amanda. Can’t wait to try out what I learned.
We went on the guided tour. It was so interesting and our guide, Tommy, was in character and terrific. The drink at the end in the speakeasy was a fun touch. We loved it all!
Very interesting in depth tour of the history of Savannah. Bonnie was a thorough guide who told interesting stories offered the personal insights of a Savannah native.
This is a great and impressive little museum. They pack in a lot of information and it is well curated. It was a surprising little gem. I highly recommend it. And you can take some photos
This is a great museum. I learned so much about Prohibition that I didn’t know. Our guide (Ozzie ?) was the best. It is definitely a must see.
Fun and interesting museum. You learn about Prohibition and everything that comes along with that time. They also have a speakeasy where you can get a drink before moving on.
Corey our guide was amazing very 👍 educational and fun enjoyable
It was a fun informative tour. It was self explanatory, the props were realistic. You could take pictures with Al Capone, Bugs Maran with Tommy guns. The speakeasy was well represented. You can also include a drink in the tour. We got our tickets with the old town trolley tour.
Nice museum filled with historical artifacts. A small piece of history.
The guide was awesome. The museum did an incredible job bringing the Prohibition era to life, and the drinks in the speakeasy were a lovely touch to end the tour.
This place is interesting but riddled with mildew and no ventilation. If you have any respiratory issues, maybe skip.
Our guide was a young man who was very well spoken, educated and cared about what he was doing. He did a great job. The content was compelling.
Wow / so cool, history is fascinating and so well done. Took the tour. Tommy was so knowledgeable. Highly recommend
Happily surprised at the quality of the drinks and samplers Our teacher was Daphne she was Funny and definitely knew her mixology /prohibition info. She was great and sent us all away with cool tips on making cocktails and even a parting gift. Would recommend the class For a date night
Fun! I didn't take the guidex tour, but I feel that I still learned alot. I went on a Sunday, so in the Speakeasy only Mocktails could be served due to Georgia's Blue Law.
This was an interesting tour. I learned so much about the Prohibition Era that I didn't know, The guide was knowledgeable with lots of stories. The drink making portion was also fun and the teacher was great.
Must see in Savannah. Learn the history of Prohibition in a fun and informative tour. Guide makes history come alive.
to be fair, we didn't do the tour; just walked ourselves. Some interesting items/facts but much of tour was basic
We had a wonderful time. This is a very educational visit and well done. We enjoyed the drinks at the end as well.
We had a great tour guide for the prohibition museum. Very knowledgeable and animated. We loved that the guides and workers dress in the time period. The speakeasy at the end was equally delightful with very traditional drinks. Definitely not light on the pour either. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
If you’re visiting Savannah, the American Prohibition Museum is absolutely worth adding to your itinerary. American Prohibition Museum does an incredible job bringing the 1920s and Prohibition era to life with immersive exhibits, vintage cars, realistic wax figures, and interactive displays that make history genuinely fun and engaging. The attention to detail throughout the museum makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The speakeasy experience was a highlight — the atmosphere was authentic, the cocktails were excellent, and it was the perfect way to end the tour. The staff and guides were knowledgeable, entertaining, and clearly passionate about the history they were sharing.
Interesting facts about prohibition that were previously unknown to us.
We did a self-guided tour of the museum and I'd say the admission fee was not really worth it. Cool museum and an interesting history, not very crowded on a weekday afternoon, but the experience itself is very short? We spent under an hour in the museum. Our experience might have been better if we had booked a guided tour, so keep that in mind.
We did the self guided tour. Interesting and learned some things about the prohibition era that I didn't know. I feel like it's a little overpriced though
We took the tour which I would highly recommend because the guide made it so much fun and had a lot of insight. We had drinks in the speakeasy after which concluded the tour. Definitely work going and fun way to spend a couple of hours.
This was a very informative museum and also the wax figures were so life-like. I was able to hold an unloaded Tommy Gun. If you get a chance to visit this you must take a picture with the Timmy gun. We added the cocktail at the end and I did not disappoint. The underground speakeasy was just like the movies. It was definitely worth the money.
It was very interesting and enjoyable. Really enjoyed the historical background and explanations of how it came about and new businesses that occurred due to prohibition.
This was a great tour from a historical perspective. Our guide Rory really knew his stuff, and made the tour a lot of fun. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in prohibition history, from the early beginnings to the reasons why it failed and ended.
Very informative and fun. Location is on city market closed to all the shops and restaurants.
Tour guide definitely adds to experience. Ethan was very good. Lots of info and things to see in a small area
We enjoyed the guided tour of the Prohibition Museum and learned a lot. At the end, we went into the speakeasy for the complimentary cocktail. Make reservations in advance as it sells out. It’s a bit pricey, but interesting and I’m glad we toured it.
We had a wonderful tour led by Taylor who was informative, funny and personable. She even made sure my husband who uses a cane had a chair at rach exhibit. Kudos to Taylor for making a wonderful visit possible!
This is so worth it! The guided tour really shocks you into the reality that prohibition was far more than the ban of liquor. It was a massive societal shift. Post prohibition changed America. The tour will tell you how. They are not done, as the learn new things I am sure the incorporate them. Very in depth and sad history. One of the best tours!
It’s a little pricey . It was ok not for younger kids
Every time I go I learn something new. The guides are awesome. The costumes are awesome. The service in the speakeasy was awesome. The exhibits are well worth it. I did the tour. I highly recommend it!
