We enjoyed a very informative and good vibes tour with Arielle. Her passion for the history was evident

Itinerary
This is the meeting point for the tour. Guests will meet their tour guide outside Six Feet Under restaurant, directly across from Oakland Cemetery, and head around the corner for the introduction to the tour. Street parking nearby is encouraged. Then, enjoy incredible shrimp and grits and fried catfish and okra with a cucumber wasabi soy sauce at Grant Park's most popular restaurant and one of the city's top seafood spots. The patio is legendary with stunning views of both the city and the cemetery and guests will be seated in their bubbles at separate outdoor tables.
Discover Victorian houses and learn history of the city on our way to Oakland Cemetery. This does not go to the park in Grant Park neighborhood.
Discover the early notables of Atlanta, now the residents of Oakland Cemetery, and how food impacted the growth of the city during this 40 minute guided tour of Oakland. Your ticket price includes a donation to the Historic Oakland Foundation, dedicated to preserving the historic cemetery.
Compare a modern take on a popular dish early Atlantans would have eaten and a modern pizza dish! You'll also enjoy a cocktail sample from a local distillery. Firepit Pizza Tavern is owned by Leslie Cohen, who won Cutthroat Kitchen.
Try two to-go desserts from this James Beard nominated bakery, which is heavily involved in the local community and dedicated to improving the working conditions of the food service industry.

Ariel made the tour incredibly engaging and enjoyable, making it a great time. We learned a lot and had a fantastic time. Plus we enjoyed delicious food and drinks. Highly recommended.
Ariel was wonderful, made the tour so fun and informative. The food and desserts were wonderful!
We had a great time on our tour. Arielle was so nice and very knowledgeable. We ate some delicious food and learned a lot of new things about Atlanta along the way. It was the perfect way to spend a beautiful afternoon in this gorgeous city.
Delaney was a great guide. Also she had a great personality and engaging. A bit disappointed on time at restaurants. The eating portion was shorter than cemetery time. Spent more time at cemetery with history than hearing about local restaurants. There was short explanation on the restaurants at the end. Would have preferred more time to hear about food, eat with a little more time, reduce time at cemetery and have one more food stop.
Kristin made the food your fun. She was very informative, and you could tell how much she enjoyed her job!
My husband and I did the Grant Park Food and Cemetary tour with Delaney as our guide. She made everything fun and informative . The food was amazing and I learned so much about how Atlanta got its start and some interesting insite into the Gant Park neighborhood. It was a wonder tour. I highly recommended it.
Dulaney was an outstanding tour guide and the food was exceptional!
It was so fun! Duh-lay-knee was super knowledgeable and gave us great vibez. Food was great and Kenny Rogers is the goat.
The food and the drinks were outstanding and, equally important, our guide Kristen was outstanding! She made it feel more like strolling with a (knowledgeable) friend rather than a stranger. 10/10!!
Arielle was very knowledgeable and entertained us while also educating us on Atlanta history. The food offerings were perfect and very relative to the tour.
Cool way to learn about Atlanta’s history! Super knowledgable and friendly guide! Great food and drinks!
Great food, drinks, and stories. Definitely worth doing while in Atlanta. We laughed and learned a lot from our knowledgeable tour guide.
Delaney was an absolutely fantastic tour guide. This tour was the perfect blend of great food and history. I would highly recommend it!
It was excellent! Good food, happy attitude and full of energy with our tour guide Delaney. The work group was raving about the unique experience. Would highly recommend.
Kristin is a great tour guide, learned about the history of food, cemetery and Atlanta. We had laughs and great food.
Arielle was so amazing. She brought so much energy and knowledge to this tour. I learned so much about Atlanta. What I loved most was that she was so balanced. She knew just the right amount of information to give to not make it seem overwhelming. The food choices were good as well. The first place (Six Feet Under) was the all star. The second place was meh by comparison and the dessert option was delicious. She then recommended activities we could do after which was right on the money.
Kristin was our tour guide, and she was absolutely wonderful. She made the history sound interesting and fun, and brought us to wonderful food spots such as Six Feet Under, Little Tart, and Fire Pit. Truly was an exciting experience, 10/10 would recommend.
Had a great time on the tour, Courtney was super fun and knowledgeable on ATL history and had a ton of fun facts It was a good team experience
Courtney was an amazing tour guide, full of energy and knowledge about Atlanta’s history. This was a great way to learn about the city’s history through food and walking through historical landmarks like Oakland Cemetery. Would highly recommend booking this tour!
Courtney was great! High energy and very engaging. Would definitely recommend as a corporate outing.
Very enjoyable tour around the Oakland cemetery (peaceful and well kept) with 3 food stops sampling tasty food at independent local restaurants and a hip bakery - come hungry for lunch. Our tour guide Kirsten was an Atlanta native, friendly, knowledgeable and engaging on the history of the city and respectful to the cemetery and surrounds. Would recommend!!
We signed our family up for the Grant Park food tour as a gift for our youngest son, who’s a foodie and likes exploring local spots. Even though we’ve lived in the area for years and have been to Grant Park many times, we hadn’t tried all the restaurants on the list and were intrigued by a tour that connects local history to food. Our guide, Delaney, was there early and kept her enthusiasm and energy up throughout the 2.5-hour tour. She’s clearly passionate about history, and even though we already knew a fair amount about the area, we still picked up plenty of new stories and details specific to Atlanta, Grant Park, and Oakland Cemetery. Delaney introduced the cemetery residents we visited in a personal and respectful way, answered all our questions, and made the tour feel more like a shared exploration than a scripted experience. We also liked how she tied her stories into the food at each stop (corn, catfish, peaches, bacon, etc.), which made everything feel more connected. The food itself was generally tasty (especially Six Feet Under Pub & Fish House), but it was really the storytelling that made the experience stand out and gave us a new perspective on places we thought we already knew. Overall, this is a unique experience and a great gift idea, whether you’re visiting or have lived here a long time.
We did this tour with a small group as a teambuilding event - it was a fun way to learn more about our city and taste some amazing food! Kristin did a wonderful job of weaving history into the experience and there was still time for us to chat and catch up as a team during the restaurant experiences.
Kristen was excellent in providing all of the key points on the tour but also the xtra! Her enthusiasm and passion for ATL made it 10x better!
Delaney was an awesome guide for our food and Oaklawn Cemetery tour! She was so much fun and great story-teller for us. Highly recommend!!
What a fun, informative and delicious food tour! This was a perfect blend of history and dining. We really enjoyed all of the bites (very generous portions) included. Delaney was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the area. Her love for this city and its history shined through. She readily answered our questions and chatted about Atlanta beyond the scope of the cemetery. Of note to anyone with allergies, the tour accommodated me, which was lovely. We had a great time on this tour and the food (and cocktail!) did not disappoint. We hope to go back to this area as there is much more to see in Oakland Cemetery and this super cool neighborhood. Thanks for a fun afternoon!
This tour was a great combination of local food and local history. Arielle was a great tour guide - she was passionate, knowledgeable and engaging.
It was a cold Atlanta day but nevertheless Arielle our tour guide made it fun and entertaining. The tour included 2 restaurants with incredible local foods and a treat from Little Tart Bake shop (women-owned). Oakland Cemetery with so much history was humbling. We learned how Atlanta came to be the capital of GA. Having a fun and knowledgeable tour host makes a difference and maybe you’ll be lucky to have Arielle too. This tour is not to miss.
We had an amazing time on the Atlanta Food and Cemetery Tour. The food was excellent, especially the stops in Grant Park—every bite was delicious and well chosen. The cemetery visit was fascinating and beautifully done, adding so much depth and character to the experience. Our guide did a great job tying together the history, stories, and food. Their knowledge and enthusiasm really brought everything to life and made the tour both educational and fun. Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to experience Atlanta’s history and food scene in a unique and memorable way!
The tour was a great combination of tasty food, education, and entertainment. Ariel was magnificent bringing Atlanta history to life. Very fun and engaging. I lived in Atlanta for 12 years in the late 80s/90s and I learned more during these three hours about the city than I did during that time.
Very good tour!! Great Food, Drinks & History!! Ariel was fantastic. Loved her energetic informative storytelling.
Learned a lot that ties into what we know about ATL today. Our guide Kristin S. was very knowledgeable and entertaining + the food choices were stellar!
Great tour with Arielle! The food was delicious and the portions were very generous for "tasting". The walk through the cemetery was fascinating and Arielle managed to make it full of historic fact and fun, at the same time. Highly recommended!
Excellent food, cemetery tour was so cool, our guide Ariel kept us very engaged, we learned a lot of cool history and really enjoyed our tour.
Arielle, our tour guide, was so knowledgeable about the area, the food, and the inhabitants of the Oakland Cemetery. Her gift of storytelling was captivating, and we learned so much history along the way. Food tastings were delightful, plentiful, and spot on for southern food. We are locals and very much enjoyed this tour!
It was fantastic Ariel was so knowledgable and charismatic . She made history fun ! The food was great
Today I thoroughly enjoyed the Grant Park Food and Oakland Cemetery tour. Delaney made it entertaining while sharing anecdotes and history about Atlanta’s rich love affair with food and famous characters. We were a group of four and she easily engaged each of us on three hour tour. Never felt rushed and easily accomplished my daily steps. Delaney is passionate Atlantan determined to continue to assist in shaping the future of Atlanta while acknowledging its colorful history. Loved every minute of it. Whether a local or a visitor this is great way to spend a few hours.
Tour was a lot of fun. Food was amazing and tour was very informative. Best part was our guide, Joy, though. Very personable, knowledgable and funny!
Very enjoyable! Cemetery was super interesting. Our guide Arielle has great personality that makes history come alive.
Short walk, tons of info, great food! Kristin, our guide, was amazing, knowledge and so much fun!!!!
Delaney was a great guide! The tour ended up just being my partner and I, which was really nice to keep the whole experience at our pace and to dive deeper into the history aspects we had questions about. Great food, and a great history lesson, ending with some recommendations of neighborhoods and places to check out on the rest of our trip.
Great for locals or out of towners! Great food and great history of the area! Delany was super-friendly.
Our tour guide, Delaney, was first class. She knew the material, both on historical Atlanta and the food samples, and was totally aware of how hot it was. We’ll definitely use Unexpected Atlanta again for one of their tours.
This was not the advertised 2.5 tour and the food tastings were less in number than advertised. It was alittle over 2 hours and 6 tastings...not 8-9 as we were told. The last stop at a renown bakery and we were given 2 kinds of cookies in a bag "to go" and abruptly dismissed.
Kristen was fantastic! Animated and knowledgeable about the food ate and the history of the places we were led to. Vegetarian friendly - delicious veggie options 😋
Our guide Kristen was excellent, fun and kept the tour engaging and she was well prepared for the tour with fans and stops along the way. Food was tastey and it was super fun to try out some new spots and hear about Atlanta history. Something different and fun highly recommended.
This was an excellent tour. Kristen was an outstanding tour guide — balancing a deeply rooted understanding of the history around us with a light and entertaining style. …. The food tastings were plentiful, varied and very tasty. We have already recommended the tour to friends and family. Well worth the expense. An Atlanta “must do” for visitors.
Courtney was a great tour guide and we learned a lot about the history of Atlanta! The weather was rainy and cold but that didn’t deter us. The food was awesome and we highly recommend this tour!
Delaney is delightful! She is knowledgeable, fun, enthusiastic, sensitive. I would recommend her for all ages
