Lovely class. Jessica is a fantastic guide, great teacher. She’s a delight. I enjoyed learning the history of these southern staples and making them. Recommend this activity if you have a few free hours

What a treat! I knew better because of my lovely experiences with Unexpected Atlanta Tours BUT all of my guests certainly thought it would "just" be a cooking class. But never the case. Our guide, Kristin intentionally gathered each person's name and addressed them as such until we left. She took us on an entertaining and educational journey that accompanied the delicious dishes/treats we made. Everyone truly enjoyed themselves--I am so happy we did this. Highly recommend!

Kristin was an amazing guide! She gave us the southern history behind all our dishes and was very fun and personable! I would definitely come back and I 100% recommend to anyone who loves history and is open to trying new things. This experience was a 10/10!

This was an amazing experience, Zoe was so was phenomenal. There was so much history, but explained in very entertaining information way. I learned I could even make biscuits, pimento cheese and sweet tea . Fabulous class!

What a great way to immerse ourselves in some downtown Atlanta history. Zoe, our culinary arts instructor not only taught us the nuances of making delicious buttermilk biscuits and yummy “personalized spiced” pimento cheese spread, she crafted a history that connected these southern specialties with Atlanta. If you have a couple hours to spare, this was worth time (and you get a homemade snack with some southern sweet tea)!

What a great way to learn some Atlanta history that’s tied to these traditional southern recipes! It was an unexpected bonus to discover some significant historical facts about this special location in the city as well. Zoe was a terrific guide through it all! And our biscuits, pimiento cheese spread, and sweet tea were all delicious—as promised! Highly recommended!!

Truly one of the greatest southern cooking experiences I’ve had. Ariel was beyond knowledgeable of the culinary history, process, linguistics, and geographical areas of all ingredients and techniques originated and adapted. The personality, patience, and instruction met each participant where they were and led all to personalized and delicious sweet tea, pimento cheese, and southern biscuits. I also must give Ariel her flowers on paying homage to the native and Black folk who made way for the building, architecture, culture, neighborhood, and street the experience is hosted in. 10/10 recommend!

Ariel, our guide/ instructor was great! Great energy for early on a Saturday morning. This is such a cute, unique experience and I would recommend to couples, groups, families... anyone really.

The Spice Lab was a fascinating journey of history and creation. Getting to make my own spice blend with an appreciation for the science and how to balance makes me excited to get cooking with what I made! The Southern Essentials experience was one I would do over and over. They utilize local products and everything turned out delicious. Getting to enjoy the food we made at the end with everyone was really special.

I had an absolutely wonderful time during the Southern Essentials Cooking Class. Jessica made us feel right at home and really made us understand every aspect of what we were making alongside the history associated. The class was about an hour and a half and was well worth the price of admission! I’ll be recommending family and friends to all stop by!
