I’m speechless, it was the best summer vacation spot I visited in Georgia. The hospitality was out of this world, and the food was incredible, matching the high level of service; I really don't want to leave! Every detail was top-notch; it’s definitely in my top 3 vacations. There are plenty of activities at the lake—it’s the quintessential experience of total relaxation and fun. Best summer ever ! My family used to frequent this place growing up. Back then it was impeccable. So for my mother’s birthday we decided to go back. The day before check in I called the front desk and asked if they could let me into my mothers room before her so I could decorate with surprise flowers and gifts. We booked connected rooms. I’m unsure if there was a miscommunication but they completely refused saying I wasn’t a guest and I couldn’t do that. I reminded her that yes I would be a guest along with my mother. When they understood I would also be a guest staying there they still refused and said the room would be available at check in time and no earlier but i could keep my flowers in their dining room refrigerator until mom checked in. Then her room was ready, but my room wasn’t ready until an hour later after check in time. I wasn’t able to decorate her room at all. My husband and father joined us for lunch the next day at Gabbys and we were seated at a table and then forgotten about for 15 minutes. We went to find a server who took our drink order and left and then we waited another 20 before having to go find the server again to notify them of forgetting our drinks. Almost 40 minutes waiting just to get our waters and sweet tea while outside in the heat and sun. Had to get up and find the server a third time to get our meal order. We were there almost two hours for some Caesar salads and fries. Also they took the original hinge doors off their bathrooms so it’s only a sliding barn door now with slats so no privacy there. When we went to the pool there were no chairs left in that area. Said that’s fine we went to sit in a more quiet area near the sunscreen hut. There was a large umbrella, table, and six large chairs there that looked great but when we got up close it was covered with a half inch of dirt and pinestraw that looked like the entire seating area wasn’t cleaned in months. I asked the attendant if we could sit there and they said sure and wandered off. I removed and cleaned all the cushions off myself. The experience left me devastated. This place used to be a second home to me growing up and was so magical back then. This year showed me it has not kept up with its Ritz name and was a disappointment. You should be given the ritz experience naturally. You shouldn’t have the beg for it.

Our stay at the Ritz-Carlton Lake Oconee was fantastic overall, and one person truly stood out: Perry from the transportation team. While we unfortunately had several frustrating experiences with the front desk concierge and felt that our requests were repeatedly turned down, Perry consistently stepped in and helped save the day. He went above and beyond multiple times throughout our trip, always with a positive attitude, professionalism, and a genuine desire to help guests have a great experience. Perry played a huge role in making our stay memorable, and the entire driver team deserves recognition for their outstanding service. They exemplified the level of hospitality you expect from a Ritz-Carlton property. A sincere thank you to Perry and the transportation staff for making our trip so enjoyable. If you need assistance getting around during your stay, Perry is the person to speak with. His exceptional service made all the difference for us.
