My husband and I stayed this Labor Day weekend, which definitely impacted the quality of service/the facilities and likely also impacted the high daily rate we paid. I paid $350 a night for the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in-- the entrance door could not even open fully because the bed was in its way. Carpets were ripped and stained, bathroom tiles and furniture were cracked in need of repair, and the great view of the single window over looking the parking lot didn't help. There was not even a coffee maker or microwave, which is insane for the daily rate I paid. This also sounds very specific, but housekeeping also clearly used vingear to wash linens-- laying our heads down to a big wiff of vinegar every night was really repulsive. The staff was all very kind, but about half the staff that should have been there was working. We resorted to purchasing alcohol off site and bringing it back to the resort as opposed to waiting at the bar, which took ~15 just to get a beer. I've never seen a facility so severely understaffed, especially on a holiday weekend. Finally, the facilities and common areas were very nice but also not equipped to handle the volume of guests (the exception being the restaurant, which we had 2 great breakfasts at). There were not enough chairs around the pool, leaving many people (us included) standing around awkwardly like vultures, waiting for other parties to leave. The pools were also very dirty and cloudy, again unequipped to handle the crowds. The beach was truly just a few steps away as an alternative to the pool, however the resort does not have dedicated chairs or umbrellas on the beach for guests. That said, I was less than thrilled to fork over another $55 to a private rental company after already feeling so ripped off over the entire stay. While the holiday weekend likely impacted our trip, I would never stay here again and would recommend it to no one.

We've have made multiple trips to the King and Prince when visiting St. Simons since first visiting in 1997. Wonderful atmosphere, with all the amenities that you'd expect at a beachside resort. Eating breakfast outside to start the day with that beautiful view of the Atlantic is worth the trip alone. Clean pools, easy access to dining and refreshments on a hot day make this so appealing as well. We love its close proximity to restaurants, the village, pier, and lighthouse as well. Great rates offered multiple times per year to boot! It's just a great place to plan a getaway.
This hotel definitely doesn't deserve the rating it has. When we got to the room we beeked we gave it the usual once over. You can't be too careful. Glad we checked because there were bed bugs and signs of roaches. We also found mold in the bathroom. When we asked if we could swap rooms we were told that there were no other rooms so we could keep the reservation or go elsewhere! We ultimately left but before leaving WITHOUT A REFUND BY THE WAY, we saw management treat the staff horribly, berating them in front of customers. This place should be the last place anyone books.
My husband and I recently stayed here and loved the location. It is beautifully tucked in the live oaks on the oceanfront with walking distance to local conveniences like restaurants, coffee, bike rentals and liquor store! It’s an older hotel but the ambiance and old historic charm appealed to us. With that being said, it does need some updating with the interior decor. However the beds/mattresses are amazingly comfortable. I slept better than my own bed. The bedding felt luxurious and cloud like! Restaurant and food were mediocre but there are more than enough other options elsewhere that are fantastic. We will stay here again for its location and pool.
I’ve been coming to The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort for over 10 years. Unfortunately, this 2026 visit will be my last. The location is still beautiful, but that’s where the positives end. The rooms are severely outdated and poorly maintained—noticeable odors, dirty carpets, and rusted bathroom fixtures. At the prices this resort charges, the condition of the rooms is simply unacceptable. Since the resort was sold to a corporate ownership group, the shift is very noticeable—and not in a good way. What used to feel like a charming Southern resort focused on guest experience now feels driven primarily by profit, with clear cost-cutting and declining standards across the board. The ECHO restaurant has declined dramatically. What used to be a highlight is now overpriced and underwhelming. Smaller portions, a confusing menu, slow service, and food arriving cold. It feels like you’re paying premium prices for a subpar experience. The current reality does not match the ratings you see online. The pool area has also lost control. Loud bluetooth speakers with hillbilly music , outside coolers, lack of supervision, and an overall chaotic atmosphere have completely changed the environment. On top of that, the ongoing bird problem is being ignored, which raises serious cleanliness concerns. Because of these issues, we made the decision to check out early. Despite that, we were still fully charged on our credit card for the additional night—including taxes, resort fees, and other charges. That only reinforced the feeling that guest experience is no longer a priority here. Despite I spoke with the manager over the phone, she refuses to refund me for the night we did not stay. I seen before companies desperately trying to get money from customers on the existing For comparison, I recently stayed at Jekyll Island Club Resort, and the difference was night and day—well-maintained, well-managed, and worth every dollar. It’s disappointing to see such a great property fall this far. Until there is a full renovation and major operational improvements, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
