The Eliza Thompson House is one of the very finest Inns my wife and I have ever had the pleasure of being a guest in. The street this historic Inn is located on has been voted the most beautiful street in America by travel magazines and the Inn itself is meticulously maintained inside and out. The innkeepers are very pleasant, helpful, and have taken great lengths to create a very welcoming and comfortable environment for their guests. The beautiful parlor room has coffee and cold beverages available at all times, and every evening wine and a large platter full of delicious slices of Italian meats and cheeses are served. The evening is capped off with homemade cakes or pastries at the end of the day. Breakfast is quite excellent and is prepared by James or Deangelis and served in the interior garden courtyard each morning. Our room was beautiful, clean, well-appointed and very comfortable. All of this said, it truly remains the inns staff that made our stay so memorable. We were treated with kindness, concern for our comfort throughout our stay, and a clear willingness by the staff to guide us to the best points of interest and restaurants in Savannah. Our visit to Savannah could not have been more pleasant. We give the Eliza Thompson Inn 5 out of 5 Stars,

The moment I walked into the Eliza Thompson House, I was pleasantlllly greeted. Jennifer immediately set the tone for my stay with her graciousness and kind demeanor. She explained everything thoroughly, leaving no detail unanswered and making me feel completely welcomed into this wonderful atmosphere. Jennifer and Marcus escorted me to my room, graciously carrying my overpacked luggage along the way. 😀 The surroundings were quiet, peaceful, and serene, offering beautiful spaces for private reflection, meditation, or simply gathering one’s thoughts. Every question I asked was thoughtfully answered, and each staff member I encountered offered an abundance of wonderful suggestions for exploring the magnificent city of Savannah. Through my extended conversations with the staff, I could genuinely sense that they took great pride in their work and truly enjoyed caring for their guests. The Eliza Thompson House is also perfectly nestled within Savannah’s Historic District. Many memorable sights, restaurants, and attractions are within easy walking distance, allowing you to slow down and truly appreciate the beauty of your surroundings. I wholeheartedly recommend a stay at the Eliza Thompson House—and I am already adding a return visit to my future itinerary. Take care, wonderful souls. Chaz
This is a very nice bed and breakfast and we were able to grab a convenient parking spot right in front. We paid the $20 fee for the 24 hour city-wide parking pass and found it to be worthwhile despite not moving the car at all while we were there. We note that there are very friendly folks at the Eliza Thompson House and would stay here again if in Savannah in the future. We stayed in the R. Bruce room and found it very cozy and comfortable (no unusual events occurred for those seeking such). The happy hour and evening dessert period were wonderful and conversation with Charles was stimulating and very enjoyable. Although breakfast was certainly not up to standard compared to the rest of the amenities, we enjoyed ourselves so much we won't even consider breakfast in the rating.
Very friendly and welcoming staff. From the minute I got there to the time I left, the staff was friendly and inviting. They were always ready to give you a helpful suggestion or recommendation if asked or help book a tour. The location was ideal. It was in a quiet neighborhood and central location to everything. The room was nice. When you wanted a bottle of water or a soda, diet or sparkling water, all you had to do was to go to the small fridge in the parlor and grab one. There was even water by the front door to grab on your way out. Every afternoon at 5 there was a charcuterie board and wine. At 8 pm some kind of sweet treat. Breakfast was in the private courtyard starting at 8 AM. If you are looking for a place to stay in Savannah that is nice, quiet and friendly, The Eliza Thompson House is a great place to stay.
Our son lives in Savannah and my wife, and we always stay at an Airbnb or Bed and Breakfast when we come two or three times a year for the last two years. This was our first stay at Eliza Thompson House and we stayed 4 nights. The communication was excellent before and during our stay. The front desk staff are knowledgeable about the area, professional and friendly. Joshua checked us in and explained parking, breakfast, wine and d'oeuvres and dessert time every night. We met Nell the next morning and had a good conversation with her. The buffet breakfast was just what we needed with an option of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, grits and pancakes with plenty of coffee for refills. We met some really nice people at the wine social every evening from 5:00-6:30. Parking was on the street which we were used to and never had to park more than a block away. Our room was just one flight of stairs up, very spacious and comfortable. We were able to walk to Forsyth Park every morning for 2-3 laps around for our exercise. We were then able to walk the 3-4 blocks to Broughton Street for lunch and going through shops. We were in walking distance to St. John's Basilica but took our vehicle since we had a lunch reservation right after Mass. We will stay at the Eliza Thompson house next time we are in Savannah visiting our son.
