They didn’t make the scheduled time They didn’t turn up to their revised time, turning up half an hour late, by which stage I’d left the meet in point and gone for lunch Now arguing with me about offering a full refund.

Fabio was very interesting, very intelligent so it made for an interesting couple of hours.
We really enjoyed our food tour today with Fulvio. He was very knowledgeable about all the sites , he walked us around the streets we would never have found, all whilst trying delicious food. Even my fussy 13 year old son tried it all and enjoyed it. I would recommend this tour .
Knowledgeable local guide led us through an interesting maze of back streets from Genoa cathedral to waterfront and back. Basic foods, but interesting and fun. Recommend tour offer drinks at each of the 4 food stops - at a minimum water.
It’s not a meal but is filling. Good food choices. Wine questionable. Guide very knowledgeable and personable.
I cannot believe I paid $70 USD for this food tour. It was definitely not worth the price. The tour was completely disorganized. First, the company contacted me last minute to change the meeting location. It was only myself and a couple (who were very late) and I had to wait almost 20 minutes for the guide to even start the tour. Focaccia is a staple of Genoa, but was not included on the tour. I found out that the vendor the company uses went on vacation that week. The tour company did not replace the tasting or compensate in any way. The pesto tasting was disappointing and the wine tastings were even worse. It was two glasses of wine served at a restaurant (the red before the white). When I asked the guide see the bottles to know what I was drinking, I was made to feel that that was a ridiculous request. I had originally booked a different food tour, that cancelled due to a high wind warning. I regret going with this company instead. I would have been better off on my own.
An enjoyable blend of old Genoa walking history and periodic stops of seafood, pastry, and final wine tasting
This is not a food tour. Though the guide was knowledgeable of history, architecture and culture, the food component was severely lacking. For pesto, we stood outside a street stand and tasted small dabs of pesto on tiny pieces of stale bread. These were free samples given to anyone who walked up, tour or not. This tour is deceptively marketed. Should be sites/history tour with some snacks and a glass of wine.
I had a wonderful tour with Fulvio! He was very knowledgeable of the history of Genova. The food at each stop was delicious, and the wine to finish the tour was superb!
Genoa is a fabulous city and Fuglio was a lovely guide, which made the walk very enjoyable and interesting. Fried fish and semifreddo were the best stops, the foccacia was very filling. Would help if the food stops were more spread out.
This tour could have been much better by having the tour guide get everyone at the port and walk them to the piazza area (less than a mile walk). Our group and another family were on this tour and taxis over charged us ($25) to take us less than a mile. It was very confusing where we were supposed to meet the tour guide and tour was almost 45 minutes late as we were all lost. The tour guide should have had a large sign with the name of the tour. Needless to say, the group was frustrated by the time we started. The tour guide herself was nice and she took us to some good places for tastings and taught us about the food. The seafood place and the gelato place was our favorite. I think we all would have rather walked off the ship at the port and explored the area ourselves. I would only recommend this tour if they had the guide meet you at the Genoa port.
Very fun food tour. Tasty food, drink and good selection of spots with relevant history explained. Left feeling full and content! Would go again!
My Guide & food was good overall. The variety of pesto and at some shops was lacking, so would have been excellent if they were added. Another interesting addition would have been to compare the quality of the foods e.g., Focacia with other shops in terms of ranking, for context. Guide also went out of her way to introduce me to Spianata di Castelletto which was a treat!
We had the best day! Fulvio was a wonderful guide who showed us around some amazing historical sites and told us a lot of interesting information. The food was incredible. I am coeliac so Fulvio spoke to each vendor to check for my dietary requirements and find me an alternative. He was incredibly helpful and created such a fun environment. I would 100% recommend this tour as a great way to see the city and try some amazing food and wine!
Brief 2 hour tour of foods and old Genoa, Italy. Guide Benedetto was very pleasant , informed and helpful. After the tour helped get us a taxi. Good tour.
We arrived at the meeting point and the guide was never there. Attempted to contact the tour operator and the person we reached said he was no longer with the company. The link provided is no longer active. Still attempting to receive a refund from TripAdvisor.
Lorenzo was a local and very knowledgeable with all of the back alleys and secret gems. The food was excellent and was a good spectrum of the local cuisine. The wine tasting was nice, but actually only two glasses (one red, one white) at the very end of the tour. All in all though it was a very nice tour.
Lorenzo was amazing, friendly, and outgoing! The different little street foods were amazing to try! I never have like seafood and I loved the fried calamari and shrimp!! Definitely would book a different tour with Lorenzo if I had the chance!
This tour really was wonderful. We had just arrived into Genoa. This tour gave us a glimpse of the old town and all of the food and wine samples were delicious.
The food was amazing! We were stuffed at the end. But the added history and walking around the city with someone what happened there or what is important about it or just a funny story really made it worthwhile.
Lorenzo showed us some beautiful (and old!) areas of Genoa, not far from the port. There were only four of us, so we were able to get to know the others a little bit. Tasty food - especially the fried seafood bites - and a very nice wine bar at the end. Lorenzo took the time to walk us to a taxi stand at the end. Highly recommended!
Our guide, Lorenzo was very proud of his city and happy to talk about it. He had facts and stories that you wouldn’t find in a guide book. Then, there was the focaccia, and the cone of seafood ( wonderful.)! At the end of the tour, there was wonderful wine, and the best gelato I have ever had!
Lorenzo was our tour guide and he took us to some of the best places in Genova that we wouldn't have known otherwise. They were so good in fact that we kept on going back to the places that he took us to. I highly recommend doing this tour to get to know the city from a local.
Lorenzo did a wonderful job Good information and answered all our questions. The choice of food tasting he chose for us was also very good especially the seafood and of course the wine on a very chilly day in Genova
Lorenzo was a great guide. The food was exceptional and enough for double our number. So glad I didn’t plug into the cruise line tours for 4x the cost. I’d do this tour again.
Excellent tour of part of the old city. Then delicious seafood, morsels with pesto and salsa di noci, plain focaccia, focaccia con formaggio (really scrummy) and polpettone, followed by delicious semi freddo. All washed down with red and white wine. Each 'course' was taken at different venues so we got to meet lots of artisanale/specialist sellers! Great intro to Ligurian/Genoese specialities! 😁
The food and tour was wonderful. We learned about the history of the city, its culture and food. Don’t eat a big lunch before this tour. You want to save room for all the delicious food and good wine at the end. Lorenzo was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. It was like a friend taking you on a tour. Highly recommend
Lorenzo was a friendly and helpfull guide. The foods were yummy and rich. Also, the wines served in full amount. He showed us some places in Genoa and gave satisfactory information about the Ligurian food culture and Genoa.
Lorenzo was a wonderful guide. Knowledgeable on Genoa history. Walked us past the Church of San Lorenzo and the Palazzo San Georgio. We then sampled fish, pesto, focaccia, panera genovese, and wine at a number of area shops. Just the right amount of walking and eating.
We often do a walking tour when in a new city as a good way to orientate ourselves, and what better way than by combining food and history. This was a thoroughly enjoyable tour, excellent local food, drink and sights. Our guide, Lorenzo, was very generous with his time (and spoke excellent English). Thank you again
Genoa is an amazing city full of great food and history. Although we signed up for a food tour, we got so much more as Lorenzo was an amazing tour guide as well! His knowledge of the city and its history added to the experience and made the day oh so memorable. Highly recommend.
What better way to explore a city than through its food? Our food tour with wine tasting with Slow Travel in Genoa was the perfect blend of history, culture, and, of course, mouth-watering Italian cuisine! Led by our amazing local guide Lorenzo, we embarked on a 2-hour gastronomic journey that took us deep into the heart of this maritime gem. We kicked off the tour with pesce fritto, a delicious street food staple of freshly fried fish that gave us a taste of Genoa’s coastal roots. From there, we sampled the iconic focaccia that the city is famous for – soft, fluffy, and bursting with flavour. And it didn’t stop there: we indulged in rich ice cream and finished off with a perfectly brewed Italian coffee ☕️. The journey wasn’t just about food, though. As we wandered through Genoa’s charming city centre, we visited some truly historic sites, including the majestic Chiesa di San Lorenzo with its striking Romanesque architecture, and the birthplace of the great explorer Christopher Columbus. It was a feast for the eyes as well as the palate! Of course, no Italian food tour would be complete without wine. We enjoyed two perfectly paired local wines that enhanced every bite, adding a touch of elegance to our experience. Massive thanks to Lorenzo for his incredible knowledge and hospitality, making this tour not just a meal but a deep dive into the soul of Genoa. If you’re ever in town, don’t miss the chance to savour the city’s true flavours.
We only had half a day to spend in Genoa before flying back to the states the next day. I found this tour by looking online for anything available, and it just happened to fit our schedule. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The tour guide showed us around to many sites, so you learn about and see parts of Genoa too. We were with 6 other people from different countries which was nice. The food choices were quite local. There were tastings of several local dishes, including the famous Genoa focaccia and pesto among others. A surprise was a gelato alternative called Panera which is a creamier type of gelato born in Genoa. We finished with wine tasting. Overall great value for the price.
We got a good overview of Genoa and the city's history. We were shown around central parts of the old town of Genoa. We got to taste local specialities, which was fun and not as natural for tourists to choose. We also got to taste a local white wine and a local red wine. The wine tasting was the least interesting part of the arrangement - both because we were not prioritized by the restaurant and because we have tasted far better wines from Liguria elsewhere
The tour was incredible and a must do in Genova. We learned so much all while getting to explore the city and eat a ton of great food. Highly recommend.
Nice introduction to Genoa and lots of good food that we probably wouldn’t have tried in our own. We went at 14:30 and were happy to skip lunch and dinner - the portions are very generous. Strongly recommend as well worth the money and a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. We were the only two people on the tour and the guide was lovely and clearly passionate about food.
It was a lovely afternoon with good, local food. In addition, a tour of the old town with some interesting stories.
our guide Flavio was great and very friendly; we learned a lot about Genoa and its gastronomy; I highly recommend this outing
Discover the culture and history of Genoa. The guide was very kind and friendly. We also tested some Genoese specialties. It was really great!
Découverte de la culture et de l’histoire de Gênes. Le guide était très gentil et sympathique. Nous avons également testé quelques spécialités génoise. C’était vraiment top!
All very good, well planned gastronomic stops, much appreciated and above all very abundant! I would have preferred to receive more historical and cultural information about the city or the places we passed through. Recommendation to give a clearer meeting point with specifics on the Guide (e.g. Use a colored hat or umbrella to get recognized) because it was difficult to find. Recommendation the experience!!
