Hotel d’Angleterre offers a stunning lake view and top-tier service, but the experience falls short of its 5-star designation and $1,000+ nightly price tag. It feels like a property resting on its reputation rather than modern quality. The Room & Amenities The hotel is visibly aging and needs an update. While rooms are spacious, the details are disappointing: sparse, unstable outlets in awkward spots and an old bathtub that is difficult to access. There are almost no amenities—not even a coffee maker. Most egregious is the "essentials" menu; charging 9 CHF for shaving cream or 12 CHF for a nail clipper in a $1k/night hotel feels like nickel-and-diming rather than luxury service. Comfort & Facilities Climate control was a major issue. With the AC seemingly off, we had to open windows, leaving us to choose between an uncomfortably hot room or loud street noise. Additionally, there is no on-site gym, which is a standard expectation at this level. Dining & Location Breakfast was unimpressive for the cost. However, the basement cocktail bar is excellent (though pricey). While the lakefront location provides beautiful views, this side of the lake is quiet; expect a 25-minute walk to reach the city's main activity on the other side. Final Verdict If you prioritize a classic view and traditional service, you may be satisfied. However, given the lack of modern comforts and the extra charges for basics, it’s hard to recommend over more updated luxury options in Geneva.

Making this from my first day here that’s how great it’s been so far. Me and my husband came here as a part of our honeymoon and the minute we arrived we were greeted like VIP with amazing hospitality. They decorated our room for us. Got us champagne. The room is absolutely beautiful. Each room is decorated uniquely with the amazing view of the Lake. We have never been met with such amazing service and hospitality. This place will always be so special to us and a highlight when we remember our honeymoon. I can’t recommend it enough
My stay was absolutely exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely welcomed. The hotel is beautiful, the location is perfect, and the view is breathtaking. The staff — from the doorman to management — were incredibly kind, professional, and always ready to assist. Comfortable, peaceful, and truly memorable. Highly recommended this time I was with my lovely husband next time definitely we will come with my lovely children 😍
I would like to commend the staff on their exceptional service and professionalism, my rating for the staff would be a 5 star , Unfortunately the afternoon tea was extremely disappointing, and does not meet the standards of a five star hotel. Sandwiches were dry, cheese and tomato completely lacking anything special, at most were somewhat inferior to home-made sandwiches. Mushroom sandwich inedible as well as the salmon which was dry and tasteless. Pastries were below average and scones should be light and fluffy. I come from South Africa which was once a British colony, we are accustomed to traditional high tea, this was not even close to the standards abroad. Also on my reservation under special notes I mentioned it was my daughter's bridal shower, I would have appreciated even a congratulations note on the table . There was no mention of the bridal shower at all. It's attention to detail that make the difference. It was after all a special occasion.
We really loved this hotel! The staff were wonderful — when our baby was sleeping, they kindly helped us carry the stroller upstairs so we wouldn’t wake him. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. The breakfast is small, but it has everything you need. The bed was big and very comfortable. Overall, a great stay!
