The Solidarity Museum is a must see. Having the exhibits and surrounding area shown and explained to us was a great experience. Having grown up watching these events unfold on tv, it was an honor to visit.

Well versed guide with interesting background knowledge allowed us to discuss history and politics apropos of this setting.
Great tour with Michael. The Solidarity museum is so well done and Michael told the history of it in a very relatable way. Thanks for a great day.
Weronica our guide brought the history and the movement to life. A fascinating day and a lesson of great bravery and hope.
Bozena our tour guide was incredible. Brought the Solidarity movement, the history of Poland and the instersection of the two to life. She was animated, thoughtful and passionate — it was so instructive and enlightening. Do not miss the opportunity to learn from her if you are in Gdansk!
Our guide through the museum was amazing. We asked questions and got all the answers we needed, to understand the brilliant story of the Solidarity movement.
I did this tour in July during a short trip to Gdansk. I’ve always been interested in European and Cold War history, and wrote a paper on Solidarity in grad school, but what I didn’t realize is just how much it contributed to Gdansk’s own story - or maybe how Gdansk contributed to Poland’s. As to the tour itself, it was phenomenal. I didn’t even realize I had bought a private tour until the day of, lol. Lucas was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, and he made sure I got my money’s worth. He took me through the museum and pointed out vital things to know about the 30- or so year story. The museum is well laid out, thorough, and moving. It really captured why they rose up and their sacrifices. At the end you can add your thoughts to a card on a Solidarity-shaped wall. After the museum, Lucas took me around the shipyard pointing out historic points of interest, as well as what those spaces are being turned into and how they’re preserving the history. At the end of the tour, he gave me recommendations including the stunning amber altar at the Solidarity Church. I thoroughly loved this tour and came away with a deeper understanding of Gdansk, Polish history, and Solidarity. Thank you Lucas!!!
Ula was our tour guide and she was a warm, outgoing, knowledgeable guide. She gave us so much understanding and background of the events. She was very concerned about meeting our needs and went out of her way to accommodate us. We are so happy we went on this tour and would highly recommend it to others. Thank you Ula for a great experience!
Our guide, Uskasz, was instantly likable and lead us on a fascinating and educational tour of the Solidarity Center. It is no wonder that this company gets such high reviews. The tour went beyond educational; it brought the movement to life. It was a surprisingly emotional experience. Trust me; you do not want to miss this tour.
I have traveled to 97 Countries and been on over 100+ Tours and Bożena may be the best guide I have encountered. The tour was amazing and her knowledge and zest for her job was apparent. I highly recommend this tour for history and Cold War buffs, but with experiencing this tour you will not understand Gdansk. Ask for Bozena as a guide!
We thoroughly enjoyed our informative tour with Bozena. She was very flexible in adapting to our schedule and extremely helpful in providing advice regarding other aspects of our visit. And her English was excellent.
We really enjoyed our Solidarity Tour with Bozena. She was very energetic and provided a very engrossing story of the history behind the Solidarity movement, the people involved, and its effects on the people of Gdansk and Poland. There was a mistake by Viator in the booking, which required Bozena ro change the tour itinerary. The alternative stops she added supplemented the core information and gave us a holistic view of the events around the shipyard and Gdansk. We highly recommend this tour and Bozena as a guide!
Sebastian was a wonderful tour guide providing an incredible amount of information! We are happy we were able to do this tour.
we could have spent all day, very well done and worth the ticket, look for the folding museum chairs if you cant stand for 3 to 5 hours they are a life saver and made the experience much better
Our guide was Weronika. She was very knowledgeable about the museum and the history of the solidarity movement. She offered lots of information to give us a better understanding of what it must have been like to experience this historical event. She was able to answer pretty much any question we had. The tour does involve a lot of walking but nothing strenuous. She also offered suggestions for other places to visit and restaurants to try. It was a very enjoyable tour. We would highly recommend it.
I booked this trip so it would be the first thing I did when I arrived in Gdańsk. I am so glad that Michael was selected as my guide. I don’t know if it was intentional or just happenstance, but he had a great understanding of many of my research interests — even those related to elsewhere in Europe. Michael was patient with all of my questions as we wandered around the European Solidarity Centre, Sala BHP, and the shipyard area — old and new. After this tour, I felt like I had a great understanding of the old shipyard area and ended up returning to it multiple times over the course of my trip. Don’t misinterpret that as three hours not being enough. But, there are additional things to do near the old shipyard that I would definitely recommend (the sunset cruise and climbing Żuraw 3/the green crane, for example). I’m surprised that this tour isn’t regularly offered in a group format at a less expensive cost. I would love to see that added as an option in the future. But, regardless, I had an absolute blast taking this tour on my own. Thanks again, Michael!
Really experienced, knowledgeable guide, cool couldn't have been more personal, showed us a lot more than we expected, the tour fire exceeded our expectations and was one of the best we've ever been on
The lady tour guise was brilliant. Enthusiastic, personable and lovely. Didn't expect it to be a one to one guide either. Couldn't have been better!
Excellent guide! Very interesting tour about the history of Poland after the First World War. The guide being very knowledgably, and spoke very well English. The museum is amazing and the 3 hours go by very quickly.
Bozena our tour guide was very polite and knowledgeable and made our tour experience one to remember. Thank you Bozena . David and Gary
Our guide was so helpful and went through the history of the solidarity movement in a way the explained everything you need to know to understand this movement and the movement of Solidarity around the world …thank you very much
This was a wonderful trip! Our tour guide was very thorough, patient and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
I have always had a interest in Eastern European history from post war right through to the present day, and on a recent visit to Gdansk, I could not pass by the chance to visit the birth place of the Solidarity movement. I only knew the basics of the events that took place in the ship yards, and probably less on Lech Walesa (while I was doing my trip solo, my Ukrainian wife knew all about him and told me that I would love this tour as it will be right up my street) and had no issue booking it. I met my guide Bozena at the entrance to the European Solidarity Centre, and for the first hour we went around the museum getting a real in depth account of the events on 1980, and what had been leading up to it, with discussions on the 1970's strikes, what caused the 1980 strikes and the straw that broke the camels back, with the rise of Lech Walsea, the birth of the Solidarity movement, the knock on effects from that, not only in Poland (starting with Martial Law), but with the first free elections that followed and the domino effect it had across Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union, with its effects still having ripples to this day. After this we went out in to the actual ship yards themselves, which as someone from a construction and metal work background, was something that really appealed to me. Tour ended at one of the converted warehouses in the shipyard which is now a Hipster Hangout with street food, coffee and craft beer (my type of place!!!!). All in all Bozena was a fantastic guide, and I got out of this tour exactly what I was looking for, and that was the whole in's and out's of the history of the events in Gdanks 40 years ago. Can fully recommend this tour for anyone.
Had a brilliant tour of Solidarnosc centre, Gadsnsk shipyards and other historical places. Our guide, Bozena was so friendly, extremely knowledgable and spoke perfect English. Would definitely recommend this tour!
Did the Solidarity Tour with Bozena as my guide, as I was interested in finding out more about the history of this movement. The museum is excellent and Bozena pointed out many things that I may have otherwise missed. Following that we toured the shipyard itself and again discovered some hidden spots. The tour was well-paced and it definitely made sense to do the museum first before seeing some of the actual locations. The shipping container bar area at the end was a great place to finish. Overall I was very impressed with Gdansk and thank you Bozena for giving me an insight into this important aspect of its history!
We loved the whole experience from start to finish. Sebastian is hugely knowledgeable and his easy-going style conveyed the Solidarnosc story hugely better than if we had just walked around the museum reading the exhibits. The second half of his tour, where we walked through the original Shipyard area was a great bonus. He was very attentive to our questions and gave careful and clear explanations and he also noticed my desire to get good photos, so took us to special vantage points which we would never have known about otherwise.
The Solidarity private tour with Sebastian was worth every penny. Very comprehensive and you’re able to ask questions along the way. Sebastian is amazing. Highly recommend this very emotional, important period in Europe’s history eliminating Communism. Poland started it making way for other countries. It’s very complicated and a must to learn what happened.
i wanted to cycle around the city for a day with my partner. tourist information sent us to 'poland by locals' and we were taken by surprise. we asked all sorts of questions. they had bounty of replies. we studied places where to go on a paper map with their help. we got ideas where to find lea markets, and so much on. laughter run the show. we felt taken care of and loved with 'poland by locals'
Great guide and an interesting tour. We found the whole experience educational. It filled in much of Solidary movement history that we did not know. We recommend this tour as an important part of the Gdansk experience.
This museum was incredible in its layout and information handling. The mixture of written, recorded and interactive exhibits was just right and gave a superb insight into an important historical period in Gdansk, and Poland in general. Very impressed with both the building and the handling of the historical data.
Sebastian was a very skilled guide. He met us at our hotel and told us about Gdansk at our way to the senter. The ECS was excellent.
Wonderful city, a surprise from every point of view. Mariacka Street stays in your mind forever
Very professional tour. Authentic, good content, good duration Highly recommended! Good mix of history and present
Filip je legenda. Tura je bila epska. Izvanredan vodič teška tema na izuzetno zanimljiv i poseban način. Iako nismo imali turu sa Martinom, Filip je bolji. ( tako se priča)
A good visit to the past and the present. We visited in families with different generations in different experiences with history.
