Enjoy the history of the castle. Guest spoke good English. Driver was great. Highly recommend tour. Just wish we got to see the city area after the castle.

Worth a visit if you’re in Malbork, Poland to learn about the history of the castle. I done some historical research prior to going and note that not all things I learnt were mentioned in the audio-guide tour! There are lots of steps and cobbled pathways so be warned if you are not fully physically able. On the day of our visit if was not too over-crowded but what spoilt our visit somewhat is the amount of group tours which caused several backlogs as you are waiting for groups to walk through sometimes small doorways or narrow stairs rather than couples or small family groups. Still worth a visit but you just have to be patient. The audio-guide was good and is GPS / WiFi activated so follows your route / speed of walking. However, after a while we found we just wanted to turn it off and just walk at our own pace than be guided by the audio-guide. Having said that we would not have known the relevance of rooms without the audio-guide explaining what we were looking at.
Beautiful castle with very interesting history. Magda our tour guide was exceptionally good and made the tour very enjoyable
Alicia gave us an amazing guided tour of the castle… Lots of good stories and interesting information, and particular how life was on a daily basis in the castle. Highly recommend.
Beautiful castle of teutonic knights. We enjoyed the self tour. It's the world's largest brick castle and the largest Gothic fortress by land. It does missing some historical collections. Caries the largest amber collection.
I got a text from the tour operator asking me if I could move up the tour a day earlier because I was the only participant and the tour needed at least two. Anyhow, it turned out even a day earlier was still only two people so it was kind of a semi-private tour which was fine by me. The driver Chris was a soon to be retired historian so we had a few chats related to the castle and also the history Gdansk. Our tour guide as a lady name Alicia, she has been a tour guide there for a very long time and witnessed the rebuilding of the castle. We spent about 3 hrs touring the castle. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. If you have an extra day in Gdansk, visiting Melbrok Castle is an good option.
The experience was great. The guide was. Very knowledgeable. The only thing that I kinda bummed out about was that we had to meet a timeline and I didn’t have more time at the end to check out the Amber exposition they have there. Overall, I do recommend for transportation facilitation and get the history of castle, which is amazing.
Over priced for what you get. Felt rushed. 3 hours long so be prepared for lots of walking. Lovely castle though and biggest in the world so worth checking out of castles are your thing.
Everything went smoothly and the experience was well worth it. Driver pickup and tour guide had excellent information to share. We were picked up in Sopot at 730AM and back at 130PM. 3 hours with the guide in the Castle. You could spend much more time but with the guide you see the important stuff. By starting early you miss some of the crowd and it was great to explore and take pictures with our guide.
When I booked this tour, it was said to be 5-6hours duration. We were collected by shuttle, then 50mins drive to the castle. I was excited for the tour - but it was only for 3 hours!! Very disappointed in this. While in Malbork, this was my chance to get the full knowledge & experience of the castle while here... but it fell short! May I suggest your guides speak into a device that projects to our handheld devices? (Like Neuschwansteincastle have - so much better!) - so that we can hear you in the cavernous rooms with other louder voices. We all had to stand closer & closer to the guide to hear above some booming voices, then no chance for photos. There was a delay then, so we could take photos. Some areas were not told us as we walked past, that I had to ask about. I wished for the remaining 2 hours of the tour, or at least a refund for the unused portion..
This was an excellent tour of Malbork Castle. Our driver picked us up promptly at our hotel in Gdansk and drove us to the castle, about 45 minutes, providing interesting information about the area along the way. There was one other couple in the van. Once we arrived, our driver went in and got our tickets and then introduced us to our private guide. Since the other couple had chosen an audio tour, we had the guide completely to ourselves. She was extremely knowledgeable of the castle's history and walked us throughout the massive complex explaining what we were seeing in detail and answering all our questions. She was a delightful person. After the 2-hour tour, we were reunited with our driver and returned to our hotel. Overall, an outstanding experience!
Our visit to Malbork Castle, the largest brick castle in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was an unforgettable experience for the entire family. Located in northern Poland, this medieval fortress was once the headquarters of the Teutonic Knights and is a must-see for history enthusiasts. Arrival and First Impressions As we approached the castle, the sheer size of the structure was awe-inspiring. The towering brick walls and massive gates make you feel like you've stepped back in time. The castle is situated on the banks of the Nogat River, providing beautiful views that add to its charm. Exploring the Castle Grounds Once inside, we were able to explore the castle at our own pace. The complex is vast, with several sections, including the High Castle, Middle Castle, and Lower Castle. We started by wandering through the impressive courtyard, where we were immediately taken in by the towering walls and sprawling layout. The High Castle, which housed the grandest rooms, was a highlight. We marveled at the intricately detailed walls and beautiful frescoes that remain preserved despite centuries of wear. It was fascinating to imagine what life must have been like for the knights and rulers who lived here. The Museum Exhibits One of the most impressive aspects of Malbork Castle is its museum. Inside, the exhibits are well-curated and informative, giving us insights into the castle's history, the Teutonic Order, and medieval military life. Our kids especially enjoyed the displays of weapons, armor, and the detailed models of the castle at different stages of its development. The Grand Refectory and the chapel were two other highlights. The chapel’s stunning architecture and peaceful atmosphere were incredible, and the refectory’s long tables evoked images of medieval feasts. Activities and Guided Tours We opted for a guided tour, which was a great decision. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging, sharing fascinating stories and legends that brought the history of the castle to life. Our children enjoyed the interactive parts of the tour, like exploring the underground chambers and hearing about the knights’ daily lives. For those with an interest in history or architecture, this castle is a treasure trove of stories. There were plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn in depth about the castle’s role in the history of Europe and the Teutonic Knights’ rise and fall. The Surroundings and Views The castle’s location next to the river is perfect for taking in the surrounding scenery. We spent some time walking around the outer walls, which offered beautiful panoramic views of the river and surrounding landscape. The entire experience felt like a journey through time. Family-Friendly Aspects Malbork Castle is incredibly family-friendly. The paths are mostly easy to navigate, though there are some steps and uneven surfaces in certain areas, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. The kids had a blast exploring the castle, and there are several spots where they can imagine themselves as knights or royalty. There are also small areas with interactive displays to keep younger visitors engaged. Conclusion Our visit to Malbork Castle was an unforgettable family experience. The combination of its stunning architecture, rich history, and family-friendly atmosphere made it a perfect destination for all ages. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for an adventure, Malbork Castle offers something for everyone. I highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Poland – it’s a real gem!
Great castle of the Teutonic order, carefully recounstructed, two hours tour with augioguide. Castle is easilly accessible by Train, Train station is 1 km from the castle. Very interesting.
The whole thing was memorable from the founding by the Teutonic Knights through its usage over the centuries and it's restoration from WWII and the Russians. I think the place was the highlight of our visit to Gdansk. Based on its construct dates and look the buildings are mostly Gothic. The scenery on the way down and back was interesting too.
Loved it, my sherpa was excellent, painted great history starting first half of Xll century, brutal Teutonic Order vs peasants of pagan old Prussia who refused Christianity and NATo, wonderful red brick castle, biggest in the World as per UNESCo, bigger even than Carcassone Castle. I will refer this to all my friends"😊
Our guide was excellent and gave us great information. The driver to Malborg Castle was also very helpful, pointing out interesting facts along the way. I thourally enjoyed all of the tour.
I considered taking the train from Gdansk to Malbork and seeing it myself, but I'm so glad I didn't. The driver was a fun and charismatic guy who knew so much about Gdansk and everything on the way to Malbork, and our tour guide was even more so. Every single room in the castle has a history, and she gladly told us all about it. This was the perfect tour.
Our guide at the castle, Gregory, was wonderful. He was very patient and answered our many questions. It was more like being shown around by a knowledgeable friend than by a tourist guide. Our driver was an excellent driver and also personable. He was on time. We shared many stories of our respective cultures. Again, we were talking as friends. We would recommend both.
Just the two of us, so a real treat. Driver and tour guide both excellent. Well worth the reasonable cost.
Had an amazing time on this tour. It was very convenient to get picked from my hotel in Gdańsk and the driver was great too. The tour of the castle lasted about 3 hours, our guide was very experienced and knowledgeable. The guide showed us all of the best parts of the castle and knew all the history of each part.
This tour with pick up and personal small group tour was ideal. The tour was about three hours and our guide was really knowledgeable.
They canceled my booking although they charged me. I'm still stressing out for the refund. I definitely don't recommend. I had to buy my ticket with an audio guide directly from the museum for a tiny fragment of their price and was excellent.
It was a very short visit. The tourist guide went fast on everything. And in less than two hours we finished
Amazing castle. Definitely worth visiting. There are lot of places inside to exhibit. Three gorgeous inner yards. Such a beautiful medieval castle. The castle is large. The price is 70 zlotych. You can get an audio guide on many languages (Russian as well). The exhibition lasts 3-5 hours. You can have a break whenever you want just by pausing the guide.
An easy and pleasant way to visit fantastic and interesting Malbork Castle. Guided tour in the castle was informative and entertaining.
Fantastic tour with a great guide, Alisia. The castle is so impressive in terms of beautiful interiors and the sheer scale. 120 years and 250m bricks to build! The ingenuity from 700 years ago is amazing with underground heating, spy holes and toilet towers. A great visit
Transportation to and from the castle was seamless. The tour was very informative, albeit a bit long for younger kids.
Imposing and certainly characteristic structure. Since it is the largest brick castle, I recommend visiting it with an audio guide in order to understand what the various rooms were used for and, above all, how it was rebuilt after the war.
Malbork Castle was one of the places that impressed me the most among the places I have visited that can be counted on the fingers of one hand. As you know, Malbork Castle is known as the "largest castle in the world". Especially if we are going to a place with such a wonderful reputation, talking about our tour gets very exciting. Even though I went with a group of about twenty people, I almost returned alone because I got lost there! The only point I deducted was due to this situation, which showed my complete surprise. Instead of following the group, I followed a small baby and could not find them. I sent a message to my friend saying "I'm lost, where are you?" and luckily he had a camp guide with him at the time and was able to figure out where I was from the photo I sent him. Is it a bad thing that I got lost there? No, I don't think so. On the contrary, it is a sweet memory that I keep telling everyone about. When I returned to the group, they applauded me, saying "The sea has been found"... Is it possible to go to Malbork Castle and not be impressed! Even seeing the building from the outside is enough to leave your mouth open. There are restaurants and souvenir shops outside the castle. The garden is also quite large. There's no need to ask what's inside anyway 😂. I advise! But be careful not to get lost :-) It is possible because...
Nok det mest imponerende og smukke slot jwg nogensinde har set. Vi brugte audioguide hvilket stærkt kan anbefales. Endte med at bruge 5,5 time på slottet og vi spiste også på slotsresturenten.
