Marek was a fantastic guide to take us to the castle. He was very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and the castle. He even brought us to a sweet ice cream shop for delicious fresh strawberry icecream! While the Castle tour was given by Janey she did an amazing job. This tour of the castle is a must see! I would recommend spending at least 3-4 hours at the castle, there’s so much to see! I could spend 2 days here so much!!! Thank you both Marek and „Janey“ .

The route to Malbork leads through the unique Vistula Delta region, known for its picturesque flat landscapes, historic arcaded houses, and a rich cultural heritage shaped by centuries of Dutch, Mennonite, and Polish influences.
Discover the Castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork, one of the greatest monuments in Poland and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn about the history of the Teutonic Order and explore one of the largest gothic castle in the world. On this 5-hour tour, a qualified guide will share with you the most interesting stories relating to Malbork Castle. The tour includes sightseeing the 14th-century Palace of the Grand Master, which at one time was the residence of the so-called Grand Master of the Teutonic Order, visiting St. Mary’s Church, watching the castle’s various permanent and temporary exhibitions like collection of weaponry, armor, flags and enormous Amber Museum. In 1274, over 40 years after the Prussian conquests, the Teutonic Order started building Malbork Castle. It had gradually become the most important edifice for the Teutonic Knights – it was the headquarters of the Teutonic Master, and hence the capital of the entire Teutonic State. Malbork Castle, beautifully situated by the Nogat river, is currently considered to be the largest gothic castle in Europe and an example of the medieval defense architecture. In 1997 it was added to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list, and it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and significant monuments in Poland.

A great day trip from Gdansk. Our guide was very interesting and the castle is beautiful. We highly recommend this day trip.
Our driver Mike picked us up at our hotel and drove my husband and I the approximate one hour drive to and from our hotel in Gdansk to Malbork Castle. He was a fountain of information with great insights about the history of Gdansk and Poland. He took back roads through the Polish countryside on the return with a special stop at a bakery in a small village town. We had a different private tour guide at the Castle with more than 10 years of experience giving Malbork Castle tours. She provided an excellent tour giving us all the important details without boring us with too much information. I highly recommend taking this tour if you have time while visiting Gdansk. The castle is a definite highlight while visiting Poland and this private tour was an absolute pleasure!
Great experience at Malbork Castle! Enjoyed time with tour guide Alicia with 47 years of experience! Mike picked us up and dropped us back home giving us a great overview on the history of Gdansk, Malbork castle and everything in between!
Driver was waiting for me in the lobby of my hotel with my name on a sign. He took me to his vehicle and transported me while talking about sites we were passing along he way. I asked to be taken to some very photogenic spots where I could take photos of the entire castle and he accommodated me without hesitation. Once we arrived at the ticket counter my private guide, an English teacher, guided me for 2.5 hours through the castle explaining the history of the castle to date. She did a flawless job and was easy to understand making it a very enjoyable tour. The driver met us promptly at the designated spot and we returned to Gdansk via a different route while he again spoke about the significance of the sites we were passing along the way. From start to finish the driver and guide were professional and provided a very enjoyable drive and tour. I highly recommend.
This is a great day trip from Gdansk to tour this 13th century home to the Teutonic Order. The sheer scale of Malbork Castle is jaw-dropping, we spent 4 hours on a private guided tour from our guide, Johanna, who had been doing this for 25 years. We’re also told the self-guided audio tour is very good. No downside for us as we visited at the end of August, but we have been told it can be over-crowded during peak season. About 45 min car drive from old Gdansk. Definitely bring water and snacks on warm days.
Both our Driver Mike, and our Castle Guide were excellent. We felt like Mike had become a new friend of ours. His Minibus/van was in pristine condition, and his knowledge of Gdansk and surrounding areas was excellent. Which he happily shared with us.
We booked a private Tour with a german speaking guide. He show us everything und could very good explain
Our driver, Marek was wonderful. The castle was amazing. Marek spoke perfect English. He provided great commentary sbout the area. Made sure we were taken care of. Great experience. Highly recommend Marek and a visit to Malbork.
Wonderful experience. The driver was right on time and had all sorts of knowledge about Malbork and Gdansk generally. Once at the castle we met the guide, who was simply superb. Energetic, knowledgeable, and super friendly. I would highly recommend this tour.
This castle is truly amazing. Could've spent all day here exploring. Never knew it existed but so happy that I was able to see it. The parts that were re-produced (after the bombing in WWII) fit in so perfectly with the rest. Totally awesome! Went on the tour from my cruise ship.
Seldom I get to meet someone who is soulfully connected to their community, knows its history, understands its culture, has insights into its present conditions and actively cares for its harmonious and beneficial future. This is the kind of person I experience the operator of this tour to be, and this in itself was an inspiring experience in itself - deserving the 5 star review. As for the castle - it is amazing! The enormity of it, as well as the preservation state is impressive. Even though not built by the Poles, it is a significant element of the complex Polish culture, giving particular insight into the nature of relation with their western neighbours, the Germans. On the first glance, it is a symbol of pride, of defeating a seemingly superior yet oppressive force and a landmark of self-confidence and hope - much needed by the Polish people. But looking even deeper I hope it could become an inspiration for a new era of the Polish-German relationship - where these two nations could combine their complimentary qualities, letting go of the past grievances - taking German focus and Polish spirit to create something beauty of which will stand the test of time even more than the Malbork Castle. As you can see, I did find aunexpected value in the experience and likewise invite those of you reading it not only to enjoy this tour, but to always look beyond the obvious :)
So much to see; you really could spend a whole day here. I never even knew this place existed let alone it's the 'biggest castle in the world'. Took the train from Gdansk, about a 40 minute ride and the castle is 10 minute walk from the station. Entry was 47 Zly (approx. £10). Unbelievable value in my opinion. There is so much to see both inside and outside; there is a huge emphasis on the Amber trade through the ages. We did the tour without a guide, but next time I think I'd take the guided option to really appreciate its history. Had a snack in the restaurant (downstairs near the entrance; lovely setting.) Fantastic to see so many rooms veering off from other rooms; it really is a maze and quite awe inspiring.. Make sure you wear comfortable footwear; there's an awful lot of walking to be done!
its a breathtaking castle ... and how it was hit in 2nd ww .. but leavin d parts n reforming it .. its heartbreaking to see how much damage had happened ...
First of all, I rarely write a bad review.....I chose this tour after reading the 8 other 5-star reviews. I paid $270 USD for myself, husband and son to take this tour. I thought it was a little pricey, but after reading the reviews, decided to go forward with the purchase. It was my understanding that we would have a PRIVATE tour with an English-speaking driver. Our driver was prompt and picked us up at our hotel in Sopot. He spoke NO English (I paid for an English tour). And - he was just a taxi driver. We had another tour in Krakow - also private driver - who picked us up in a nice, comfortable car and spoke English, so we were already disappointed. He took his time to the castle (as we figured out later, he was just trying to kill time) and dropped us off at the castle and pushed us over to a tour guide who was holding up a sign that said "English speaking - if you want a Private tour, go inside). We tried to tell the driver we paid for a private tour, but didn't get anywhere because he spoke no English. He just said - "you go with woman" and pointed to the guide. So, we went inside and tried to explain to the service counter that we already paid for a private tour and showed her our tickets. She said our tickets were not for a private tour and if we wanted that, we'd have to stand in a very long line and pay 50PLN more for each person!!! I tried calling the tour operator and nobody answered. So we sucked it up and joined the "English" speaking tour, which included a total of 30 people. The tour was so large, we could only hear about half of what she was saying as there were so many other tour groups around at the same time and it was noisy. It was impossible to ask questions as the tour guide just kept moving quickly along. The tour was a total of 2 1/2 hours, only about less than 1/2 of it we heard. Even though we didn't know what we were getting a tour of completely, the castle and the grounds were beautiful. After the tour, I text the driver and he arrived within 10 minutes to pick us up and hauled butt back to our hotel. If we had to do it again, I would have saved a ton of money and we would have spent the $15 USD for the exact same tour and taken the train for practically nothing. Overall, this tour was WAY overrated and overpriced for what we received. Super disappointing. It was NOT a private tour at all and the driver was completely impossible to communicate with. Two thumbs DOWN!!!
We enjoyed our time at Malbork and the guide was very informative and conscious of our time limitations as we were departing the area later that day.
We booked a private tour guide at the desk - a bit pricier, but for this enormous undertaking, well worth it. Our guide arrived for us within ten mimutes. She took us through the countless floors, wings, rooms and surrounds - contstantly filling us in... a rermarkable 3-hour experience; became utterly lost in the wonderful history of it all. Recommend very highly indeed!

The tour was very well-organized: we got picked up from the train station in Gdansk and were transported to the Malbork castle about 1 hour drive. On the way there, our driver, Mike, shared a lot of very interesting facts about the Polish economy, history, etc. When in Malbork, Mike purchased us our tickets to the castle and connected us with our tour guide. The tour guide in Malbork was highly professional unfortunately, I cannot recall her name : . She offered to take cool pictures, knew how to avoid the large touristic groups, what exactly to spend time seeing, and appeared generally very knowledgeable. I really enjoyed the tour. Our tour guide was able to customize the program a bit and per our liking i.e. we visited the Tower which is open only a few months a year vs. the Armory.Towards the end it got quite hectic but she wanted to make sure that we make it back to meet our driver on time which we did! The most efficient and effective way to see the castle! After the castle tour, our driver, Mike, took us back to Gdansk, using a very scenic road so that we could see Polish countryside. Overall, it was a highly professional, very well-organized, zero-stress tour.

We wanted to go see some of the old Teutonic Knight Castles south of Gdansk. We do not speak any Polish. Michal put together a custom van tour for us and it turn out even better than we had expected. The van was comfortable and the fact that we don't speak Polish was absolutely no problem. We got to see three castles. Tours of two of the castles interiors were included in the price. We were picked up promptly at our hotel and despite the fact that we ran a little over at Malbork, never felt rushed to get back. When we got back we were dropped off at our Hotel. The tour was a great value and I would highly recommend Tours in Gdansk to anyone wishing to tour the area.
This colossus claims to be Europe's biggest castle - and there's little reason for doubt. We spent several hours there and still didn't managed to see half of it. Splendidly kept and with plenty of watering holes for when you get weary. Even the bonus of its own amber museum.

This was an exception tour of the Malbork Castle. The driver was quite punctual and friendly and pointed out places of interest as he drove us to our tour and back. The guide at the Castle was very knowledgeable of the history of the Castle and gave an exciting lecture as we toured the Castle. Would recommend this tour to everyone.

Very interesting excursion. Terrific tour guide and great driver!

The Marienburg impresses with its rich history and its size. The special thing about our trip, however, was that the round trip became an informative experience. Our special thanks go to our great driver, Mirek Kopec, who was not only our driver, but also a fantastic guide, and through his competence brought us a lot closer to Poland. It was a pleasure to listen to him.
Fantastic visit to Malbork Castle which was built by the Teutonic Order as an Ordensburg, which was given the name Marienburg. The city that grew up around it took on the same name, now Malbork and belonging to Poland.
Very nice trip with English speaking driver to the castle. He told a lot about the areas we drove by so we got with us much more than just the history of the castle. There was a restaurant at the castle so there was a chance for a break and some food. The guide had a lot of knowledge. The driver took us on a little extra trip to a partially displaced town/village, and we learned a lot about how it was under communist rule. We were a group of 6 who all agreed that it would have been a fabulous trip! 😊👍
There were four of us, were picked up on time by Tomasz and brought back again. The German guide Marta took us through the castle competently and humorously. It was a great, completely stress-free trip for us, historically very interesting anyway.
