My sister and I took this cooking class and had an absolute ball - definitely one of the highlights of our trip! Our instructors were wonderful (and patient). We learned how to make pretzels the German way from start to finish and got to sample our work at the end. Oh my, they were good. Not only did we sample them at the end with a variety of dips (mustards, cheeses, chocolate, etc.) but we got to take some back for our husbands. They loved them as much as we did. We also brought back our official pretzel making aprons and recipe written out clearly so we can make these at home. I would highly recommend this experience to any who loves to cook or loves to eat.

An Incredible Pretzel-Making Experience at Zum Bauer! 🥨 Our pretzel-making class at Zum Bauer was an incredible experience and a highlight of our trip to Germany! We had so much fun learning the art of making traditional Bavarian pretzels, from shaping the dough to choosing our own toppings. Lena made our experience hands-on, entertaining, and delicious! It was wonderful to learn something new while enjoying a taste of Bavarian culture. We left with wonderful memories, new skills, and, of course, delicious pretzels. This is a must-do experience for anyone visiting the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area. I highly recommend it!
I went with one new friend that I'd just met during the trip and we had a wonderful time! Our baker/guide Lena was great - personable and steady. She infused so much Bavarian cultural and historical information into our time. We learned a lot in a lighthearted, engaging way. The setting was clean and cozy but spacious enough for us to have our individual workspaces. The hands on experience and the laughter with the other participants made for a delightful afternoon. And of course, we had our pretzel creations to share with our families. I'd highly recommend this experience.
This experience was so fun and a great way to experience German culture in a small town. This is a family ran business! The pretzel making process was easy to follow and we got to enjoy them at the end. Highly recommend to book this class for an outing in Garmisch!
This was so much fun. Made 3 pretzels and got to season each of them. The family is so sweet and helpful.
Me and my husband booked the Pretzel Making Experience as part of our visit to Garmisch (our new favourite place!) and we cannot rate it highly enough. As soon as we stepped in we knew we were in good hands and were gonna have a great time. Jayd was an absolute professional and hilariously funny! She gave us some fascinating facts about the history of the Pretzel and made the whole activity from start to finish so engaging and entertaining. Her passion and energy is infectious and made the whole experience unforgettable. Loved the massive variety of toppings to jazz up your pretzel at the end. We finished ours for breakfast the next morning 🥰 Thank you Jayd!
This is a “must do” if traveling to Bavaria! We had so much fun. Our instructor, Jade, was absolutely amazing. The class was extremely organized, personal, and interactive. My partner and I are both in our 30s, but this would be equally fun for older participants or kids. Our pretzels turned out great!
The class was outstanding. Jade was amazing and my wife and I absolutely loved every minute!!!! Thank you for the experience.
We are a family of four, and our two kids are age 11 and 14 and cannot agree on anything these days ... if one likes something, it seems the other must automatically opt to dislike it. Jayd, Jake and this pretzel making class pulled off the impossible, and it was the highlight of BOTH my kids' family vacation. There was a little history, a lot of laughs, a ton of energy, and a whole lot of delicious pretzel eating. Make sure to include this experience amongst all your alpine adventures when you're visiting Garmiche; you won't regret it!
We had a wonderful time at the pretzel making class with Zum Bauer. We learned how to actually make the pretzel dough as well as actually make three pretzels each - we even got to pick all of our own toppings from a huge variety of options! Jade was wonderful and made all of us feel comfortable and entertained during the class. Our pretzels turned out so tasty - we even got to go bags and I ate some of my as a snack the next day. Would highly recommend for families or friends!
Amazing experience for my whole family. Jade was awesome and so welcoming to all of us! Don't listen to the weird reviewer who had a problem with her being American. She had great energy and was super knowledgeable. This is one of the best things we've done while in Germany. Definitely a great interactive experience for everyone, even if a little pricy. Would definitely recommend!
Great experience. Plus we ate pretzels on our hike around Lake Eisbee and at the beer garden the next day. We used the traditional salt, and there were some "far out" options available.
Fantastic course for folks at any baking skill. The host, Jayd, walks you through everything step by step. We had a great time!
Just a complete blast. Everything was fun, and kept moving while still giving us history on pretzels and absolutely delicious
Very touristy. The gal in charge was from Seattle, WA, and didn’t know squat about baking, nor about authentic German pretzels. She asked the students what yeast was. Someone answered ‘bacteria,’ she said no. Someone else answered, ‘fungus,’ she also answered no. Then she said, “ Yeast is not a bacteria or a fungus it is a living organism.” Wtf?! She pushed the sales of drinks very hard. She wasted a large part of instructional time bartending. Selling drinks was her main goal, not teaching pretzel making. She also was very proud to offer so many toppings for pretzels, including ranch power and crickets. Again, wtf?! This was advertised as an authentic German pretzel baking class. We were given pre-measured dry ingredients to stir with water. Then we were given pre-made dough to shape into pretzels. Another wtf?! This would have been appropriate for young children, not an expensive baking class. The pre-made dough we were given was old and slightly crusted over. It was also dyed GREEN. It was leftover dough from a class made 3 days before on St. Patrick’s Day. Someone asked for regular dough, she said she’d let each person make one regular pretzel, but she needed to use up the older dough. So we left with green pretzels, made from green dough that already had a skin on it. The pretzels lacked the dark glossy shine that is the hallmark of authentic German pretzels, they also did not rise well and were flat, very dense, and chewy. And I’m not comparing them to American mall pretzels, but rather the many, many authentic German pretzels I ate during my trip. We ended up throwing them away. The gal/instructor didn’t know anything about baking, we did NOT learn how to actually make pretzels (we got to stir, then roll pre-made old green dried out dough into long ropes to shape our pretzels—a great activity for a kindergartener), and we left with 3 subpar, very unappetizing green pretzels. This class was a joke and for the price (about $90/person) I expected a serious class. Do yourself a favor, buy a couple authentic pretzels and enjoy them with some good German beer. Keep the other $75 and watch a YouTube video on German pretzel making after you get home. The pretzel on the left is one of our pretzels, and the photo on the right is a “real” pretzel
We had a blast learning how to make traditional pretzels! Our instructor was fabulous, especially with young children. Don’t shy away from this if you’re thinking of taking the family. Oh, and the pretzels were delicious 🥨 👌🏻🔥
Our trip to Garmisch would not have been complete without our pretzel making experience with Jade. She did an amazing job from start to finish. She provided us the history of Bavarian pretzel making and thoroughly went through the pretzel making process. She kept us entertained and provided a step by step hands on experience. Our pretzels were amazing and we cannot wait to make them at home. All Things Garmisch is an excellent company. They communicated very well during the booking process and were very responsive to all our questions.
We had a Christmas Party there ! it was amazing !! The pretzels are so good and the course is a blast !! Jayd is so entertaining and then we had all these games to play afterwards on the tables. So much fun.
This pretzel making class was a blast. The tour guide/ chef Jayd was fabulous. Highlight tour of Garmisch. There were 4 of us and we learned the history of pretzels, made and then ate them. I would recommend this tour to anyone and all ages. Thanks for a great time!
