Disappointing for a Hotel of This Standard — Definitely Not a Four-Star Experience We stayed at Romantik Alpenhotel Waxenstein and were genuinely disappointed by several aspects of our experience. 1. Parking — A Warning to Guests Arriving by Car! Be warned: finding a parking space after 7:00 p.m. was virtually impossible. During our stay, a BMW occupied TWO parking spaces for approximately 60 hours, yet the hotel apparently did nothing about it. It is astonishing that a hotel welcoming guests by car seems to take so little responsibility for managing its parking facilities. 2. Shower — Almost Comically Small The shower enclosure was a tiny, quarter-circle plastic cubicle with sliding doors, roughly 60 cm in radius. Even for someone weighing just 50 kg, bending down without bumping into something was a challenge. Simply trying to soap up felt like a contortion exercise. Definitely not what we expected from a hotel of this standard. 3. Soundproofing — Practically Nonexistent We could clearly hear the television and conversations from the neighbouring room. On our final night, we could even hear the couple next door yawning and engaging in rather intimate activities. The sound was so clear that it almost felt as though we were sharing the same room. Privacy? Apparently optional. 4. Room Amenities — A Never-Ending Series of Missing Essentials The attention to detail was remarkably poor: Laundry service? First there was no laundry bag. Then, when a bag was provided, there was no laundry form. Housekeeping? We were told to hang the appropriate sign on the door if we wanted our room cleaned — except the sign itself was missing. Coffee machine? Provided, but without coffee capsules. If you wanted coffee, you had to purchase the capsules separately from the hotel's honesty shop. Drinking water? Just one 500 ml bottle per day, and if your room wasn't serviced, you didn't even receive that. Bathroom ventilation? The extractor fan produced such an ear-piercing screech that it could probably wake the dead. Overall For a hotel presenting itself as a four-star property, the lack of basic comfort, soundproofing, thoughtful amenities and effective parking management was deeply disappointing. Beautiful surroundings alone do not make a hotel worthy of four stars. The guest experience matters just as much. We certainly expected better.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay and loved every moment at this hotel! Everything was stylish, comfortable, and beautifully designed. Our room was very cozy and had the most incredible view of the mountains — waking up to that scenery was unforgettable. The breakfasts were delicious, with a great selection, and the staff were always friendly, welcoming, and attentive. We also had time to enjoy the swimming pool and relax in the sauna, which made our stay even more special. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day in the mountains. The whole atmosphere of the hotel made our stay feel truly special and relaxing. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer! We left with such wonderful memories and would definitely love to come back. We will absolutely recommend this hotel to our friends and family. An unforgettable experience — we loved it!
Outstanding. Some of the highlights were the beautiful porch where we enjoyed several drinks, being able to view the mountains at night from the pool, and the amazing mountain view from our balcony. The location is also great with quick trips to the Zugspitze and the hiking around the gorge. The breakfast was also great each day and the onsite restaurant is nice. Our only real regret was not spending more than a couple of days here.
Very lovely hotel. We had a beautiful view of the mountains from our balcony. Breakfast was great- and the staff was very friendly.
My girlfriend and I stayed for one night at the hotel as we wanted to visit the Zugspitze. The hotel is cozy and small, and we enjoyed a relaxed time in the pool and sauna area. The room was clean, comfortable and we could sleep very well. The best part was our breakfast. Since it was my birthday, the hotel arranged for a decorated table and our waiters Miguel and Nikki were absolutely sweet, attentive and focused on detail and service. Breakfast included everything from cereals, breads, a variety of eggs, spreads and local yogurt. We definitely would love to come back again.
