First, you will visit the Korean War exhibition and learn how the war was terrifying. Second, you will move to the observatory and view the DMZ and real North Korean territory.
This area used to be the North Korean territory before the Korean War. Enjoy the genuine North Korean cuisine.
You will look around the traditional village, where everything is preserved in traditional architectural style.

What an amazing experience with our exceptional guide and group organizer Chan. The DMZ experience itself was moving and highly educational. As to Chan and his assistant and driver, we could not have asked for more. Their thoughtfulness from sending us pre tour videos to familiarize us with the area and the post tour videos providing highlights of our day were examples of going above and beyond. They even brought rain ponchos for everyone on the trip! And they were needed!! Of course we highly recommend Chan. You will not be disappointed!

Our guide Chan was exceptional. Very attentive and knowledgeable. Chan had arranged a lunch at a provincial restaurant and this was outstanding. The whole tour was very very good. Great value for money. Highly recommended.
Chan is an excellent guide who shared lots of great info. throughout the day. The DMZ was fascinating thanks to his leadership and commentary. Very generous and tasty lunch experience. Chan then guided us through a village where we learned about traditional lifestyle and buildings and farming, picked and ate ripe persimmons, and had a traditional snack. Thank you, Chan and team! I highly recommend this trip. Well worth the price.
Chan made this excursion the highlight of our trip so far. His communication was very responsive and clear. Chan sent us regular updates and helpful information such as the photo of the tour bus with license plate, a photo and location of the bus at the port. Chan and a Korean lady in traditional dress greeted us at the bus when we arrived. It was like being welcomed by a dear friend. It was obvious Chan wanted everyone to feel welcome and encouraged questions to which he he replied with humour and reflection. At the end of our excursion a video of our group was shared with us. Lovely touch. Chan obviously values traditions and the sacrifice made by troops from around the world to free South Korea. The DMZ tour was well worth it as was the traditional village and lunch. All was informative, enjoyable and fun! Truly a highlight and highly recommended.

Couldn't be happier with our time with Chan in our cruise stop in Sokcho, SK. We'd tried to book this a couple times in the past but political tensions made it difficult to get to the DMZ. In April, though, the stars aligned and we were able to do this exceptional tour with Chan. A great combination of history, culture and food. Highly recommended!
The DMZ tour demonstrates the reality of the political situation between North and South Korea. The historical background helps explain how it came about and the steps taken in an attempt to remedy the matter. There was a lady from Scotland on our tour whose father fought in the Korean War and it was quite moving for those on the tour to learn this information. I also believe the tour helped demonstration to some of the American participants that there were many other countries who also fought in Korea.
This tour was awesome. The guide was knowledgeable with historical and cultural information. We did this tour as a shore excursion from a cruise ship and timing and sites were just as expected.

Not to be missed if you are visiting Sokcho, South Korea. But first, the pre-excursion communication with Chan is exceptional. You may feel apprehensive initially when booking not knowing what to expect. Chan not only confirms through the booking website, but also sets up closer to the excursion date communication through WhatsApp and readily answers any questions and puts your mind at ease that he has everything handled. He is extremely knowledgeable about the Korean War and the DMZ. Following the visit to the DMZ, he has planned a set menu for a Korean lunch. very delicious and very spicy so if you don’t handle spicy food, I suggest you tell him ahead of time to arrange for less spicy cuisine. After lunch, you are back on the bus and he then takes you to a typical “old village”. The time with Chan was bout 7.5 hours but it flew by like traveling with an old friend. If we could rate Chan an his tour we would give it 10*!
This was a very interesting and informative tour of the DMZ. I had no idea it was going to be as emotional as it was. Akin to Normandy for me. My Uncle died in Korea and the tears flowed. Chan was a great guide. Loved the traditional restaurant he took us to. The cold buckwheat noodles, kimchi, and pork made for a memorable lunch. I wanted a take-away! The bus was very comfortable. Best of all, Chan connected with us via What’s App in advance and sent several videos which were quite informative. He even gave us all a video memory of the day!

From the minute we booked Chan’s communication was exceptional . We knew exactly where we had to meet him,. We wanted to visit the DMZ from our cruise ship the Holland America Westerdam. We heard about the tour from a fellow shipmate. . We told two other couples about the tour and they joined as well. From the moment we booked, Chan, the tour organizer and guide was very communicative with us. He described exactly what to expect, gave us comfort that we would be back at the cruise ship in plenty of time. Chan described exactly what we’d be doing and what we’d have for lunch. Chan‘s English is excellent and easy to understand. Tremendous amount of history about North and South Korea. We stopped for lunch at a typically Korean small restaurant in the countryside. Had a lovely lunch. It was a miserable wet, rainy day. Chan made sure we all had a wonderful time regardless. He also took us for a surprise visit to an ancient village in the countryside. A wonderful experience, I highly recommend this tour. If you’re on a cruise ship, do not worry about getting back in time. Chan will make sure you’re there.

This was the best optional tour for cruise passengers in Sokcho. Chan was a great communicator and in touch with us all prior to arrival. He picked us up from the port in a most luxurious bus with a safe driver. Chan was a great guide, he was informative and organised and we covered a lot in our limited time. We even had an authentic Korean lunch provided before returning to the pier. We sincerely hope the Korean people will be reunited one day. We like the clean, sparkly luxury Limousine bus with ample leg room. Chan, our tour guide, was lovely and caring, he made us know all about the history and the sad reminder of Korean war; and he made sure that we got back to the ship on time. The lunch is a new and nice experience fir us. I recommend this tour to anyone wants to go to DMZ

Given that our ship was late docking that day due to the high winds, Chan maintained a calm demeanour and did his very best to give us a very meaningful tour. When a minor incident days before between the North and South was blown out of proportion by the media and caused our cruise ship to cancel the cruise ship sponsored tours to the DMZ, it was our guide Chan that saved the day by explaining the misinformation and assuring us everything was completely safe. Eeryone was surprised when we returned to the ship having completed a successful Viator tour with Chan to the DMZ. Chan's the man!

Chan, our tour guide, was most helpful and communicative. The van was very comfortable for the 50km ride to the DMZ. The observatory and the museum were very interesting and informative, especially with the added commentary from Chan. We truly hope to see the Korean people peacefully reunited in our lifetime.
Our tour guide, Chan, put a lot of effort into organizing our tour to the DMZ. He and his driver were there waiting for us at the cruise terminal. He and the driver took our small group in a very comfortable minibus up the highway, first for an authentic Korean lunch, then to the DMZ observation post and finally to the Korean war museum. Chan was really knowledgeable in answering our questions about Korea, he provided a money exchange service for those of us who needed a few kwon to spend, he provided bottled water, he took photos which were messaged to us later, and generally took care of us. I think we were very fortunate to have a guide as attentive and caring as Chan.
Our guide, Chan, was wonderful. He was enthusiastic & knowledgable, always helpful & considerate. He organised a delicious Korean lunch for our small group en route to the DMZ which was unexpected, and enjoyed by all. Our driver was skilled and the opportunity to enjoy scenery was much appreciated. We were in S.Korea for only one day but our experience makes us want to return for longer.
It was a very educational and good day, thanks to Chan I learned so much more. The local facts of Sokcho, and even before the tour started, he already helped me visit sights in Sokcho. Even after the tour, help was offered for the rest of the trip.

Great tour, great tour operator! Mr. Chan is super friendly and a competent tour guide. Unfortunately we had bad weather, which was completely complicated by the great tour.
