Whale Watching Mirissa With Wwc

I went on a whale watching tour with Whale Watching Club (WWC❤️), and it was truly a wonderful and memorable experience! 🩷 During the trip, we had the chance to see lots of spinner dolphins and even some flying fish, which made the journey really enjoyable. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see any whales today, but I completely understand that whale watching is about nature and there can never be a guarantee of sightings. What I really appreciated about Whale Watching Club is their ethical and responsible approach to whale watching. Compared to many other tours, they genuinely respect the animals and try to observe marine life without disturbing or chasing them. This made the experience feel much more responsible and meaningful. Captain Manoj made a great effort to ensure everyone onboard had a fair and enjoyable experience. The crew was professional, friendly, and very supportive throughout the entire tour. The food was also perfect 🤩 and was a lovely addition to the trip. If you’re looking for a responsible, enjoyable, and ethical whale watching experience in Mirissa, I would definitely recommend Whale Watching Club (WWC❤️). 🐋🐬

Fantastic experience!!’ I would highly recommend this tour. The staff weee friendly and very informative. They offer snacks and sickness tablets. We had an amazing time but what I loved the most is they don’t chase the whales. Other tours were crowding and chasing the whales but our captain was visibly annoyed by that and always turned our boat around to look elsewhere. We had a fab time and would do it again

It was a truly unforgettable experience. Seeing so many whales in their natural habitat was both breathtaking and humbling. Fantastic experience. Clearly the best choice of whale 🐋 watching company in Mirissia They had great respect 🙏 for the animals and a deep knowledge 👏 We saw Blue whales 🐳 🐋 💙 and Gibbs, plus ➕️ 💙 Spinner and Stripped Dolphins 🐬 💙 The WWC provided lots of Fantastic delicious 😋 food. We had the best time! They really care about the environment and the animals which was the main reason we booked this particular tour. The boat was nice and quiet ( they seat a lot less people than the other tours). This meant you could move around the boat to see things and could always get a fantastic view. We saw a blue whale and were literally the only boat there watching. Saw loads of dolphins which was lovely whilst the fisherman were catching tuna . Had a lovely dip in the ocean . They were very knowledgeable and were respectful of the whales. We got a fantastic view without feeling like we were imposing. They obviously use friends/fisherman/ local knowledge to spot whales so it was always exciting when the boat driver got a call and excitedly changed direction. All round great trip! 100 percent recommend. Worth the small amount extra compared to other tours.

We had an amazing whale watching experience! The staff were incredibly friendly and made sure we were comfortable at all times, offering plenty of food and drinks throughout the trip. We saw so many dolphins, which was already fantastic, but spotting whales proved to be more challenging. While all the other boats had already returned to the harbor, our captain refused to give up. He continued navigating the waters, determined to find whales—and he did! By that point, I think most of the passengers had lost hope, but suddenly, the whale finally appeared. It was truly an unforgettable experience, and we are so grateful to the entire team for their perseverance and dedication in not giving up on the search. Thank you for such a special and memorable day!

What an amazing trip! An early start got us ahead of the other boats and we had a lovely breakfast as we made our way out to seas. We had seen a blue whale within an hour and then a huge pod of spinner dolphins. More lovely food and a swim stop, all with brilliant staff on board and a wonderfully respectful treatment of the animals

We had an excellent 1/2 day out with WWC. The crew were extremely attentive and had great procedures on board to ensure safety of their passengers. We were well looked after with refreshments during the tour with a sandwich, fruit and bread with jam, drinks etc. the crew were very knowledgeable about what we were seeing and shared information about the dolphins and whales we were seeing. We left early before the other boats and had time to see the dolphins and whales before the other boats arrived. I really appreciated the groups experience and respect for the whales; they gave plenty of space to the animals. We finished the tour with the option for a short swim in the ocean which was a great way to finish the tour.

Amazing experience! No whale in sight for hours, so many boats turned back after allotted time. Ours continued going and the whale watching team were determined to do their best and find one. And success!! Eventually saw a huge fin whale surfacing and blowing 💦 The team were as excited as we were! Our trip lasted over 6.5 hours rather than 5. The boat was also the most modern and comfortable boat that was on the water. Can't recommend highly enough 😊

Great team of people especially the captain. Fed us really well catering for vegetarian. Trip was amazing very respectful of the whale and many many dolphins. Huge excitement from the team when they spotted the Fin Whale. All passengers looked after really well with help making move from one side to other for the best views. Dolphins eating flying fish which clearly showed the speed they could travel and we watched in a relaxed environment around them. Would do again if in area.

Amazing experience with crew of WWC, from start to finish they were all helpful, knowledgeable and professional. We were out on the boat for 6hrs and saw hundreds of spinner dolphins and a beautiful Fin Whale.The crew made sure that everyone had their chance to view these beautiful creatures. There was plenty of space to move around on the boat and we felt safe at all times.They did not pack the boat with customers as we saw on some boats.The captain was delighted when we tracked the Whale, the crew had persevered for a long time trying to find it , all the customers were delighted. We had an amazing day , one of the best tours in Sri Lanka, it’s a must see. Thankyou to Captain Manoj (who kept us updated by wattasap prior to tour) and thankyou to the crew who fed and looked after us.

Fantastic experience. The captain and crew made sure we saw whales and dolphins. They are very knowledgeable about how to find them. Very good arrangement and lots of food given. The staff were very helpful. Shout-out to Tharu especially for making it an unforgettable experience

Beautiful experience, we saw fin whale and multiple kinds of dolphines during our trip. Staff was very attentive and friendly and communication was great. 100% ethical experience, the boat did not chase the animals, nor got too close to them, yet still we were able to observe beautiful marine wild life.

It was a very nice experience! We went at 6am. We saw many dolphins very close to the boat and also 2 fin whales and even a turtle. What I liked the most was that they really tried to not disturb the dolphins and especially whales. We saw many (!) boats almost chasing the whale instead of observing them. WWC made sure that also we understand that the animals doesnt feel comfortable with that. It should be about observing them in their natural habitat and in my opinion thats what WWC tried to do for us. They where constantly in contact with crew members telling them where a whale was sighted. They also gave us more information about the animals. We got drinks and snacks constantly. The boat was not overloaded with people and one could really feel their passion of giving us the best possible experience. We can fully recommend them!

The crew was very nice, the food was good and the Most important thing: they did not get too close to the animals. We were happy to see hundrets of dolphins, a finnwhale and a lot of pilot whales, that was incredible.

Very good expérience ! We have seen a lot of dolphins Unfortunately we don’t see whales … It is a nature ! All the personnal inside the boat take care of us ! Very kindly ! The approach to the animals is done respectfully, unlike some other boats that chase them. It’s a matter of ethics, and I strongly recommend it!

We had an amazing whale watching trip! We were lucky enough to see both dolphins and whales, which made the experience even more special. The crew took great care of us throughout the whole trip – they regularly served snacks and kept everyone informed about what was happening and where the boat was heading next. The boat itself was new, clean, and very well maintained. The atmosphere on board was fantastic and the whole experience felt very well organized. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Mirissa!

It was a total disappointment. We saw a number of dolphins and some other kind of dolphins, which They call pilot whales, which are actually another kind of dolphins. The guide told me that we would see blue fin whales, however we saw nothing at all. I understand that we were not able to see any but they did not make any explanation at all whats next or when the journey was going to finish. I wasted 110 dollar in other words. If i had chance, i would ask for refund

We had an absolutely amazing experience with WWC! The boat was spotless, sturdy, and perfectly sized—not overcrowded at all. During our tour, we were lucky enough to see several pods of dolphins swimming right alongside us, a beautiful sea turtle, and even three fin whales—an unforgettable sight! The captain was incredibly professional, keeping a respectful distance from the whales and showing the same courtesy to other boats. We also had 20 minutes near the end of our tour to swim in the ocean, which felt like pure bliss. We considered several tour options and are so glad we chose WWC. Everything about the experience—from the wildlife encounters to the attentive crew—was simply fantastic. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an unforgettable marine adventure!

The boat was very clean, the staff were super helpful, the food and drinks were plentiful, and the captain knew exactly what he was doing to look for dolphins and whales. A very well run ship.

What an amazing trip to see the whales and other marine animals. We were stunned to see a fin whale breech the sea and splash back down into the water !!!! Incredible The boat was very safe and not overcrowded at all. After each sighting the members of staff then came round with a photo and information about what we had just seen. Fabulous! I would fully recommend this company !

Absolutely brilliant experience from start to finish! The crew were amazing and so knowledgable and good at spotting things , the boat was fantastic and they served a lot of food which was a nice surprise. We saw loads of dolphins and Fin whales!

Outstanding experience.Unfortunately no Blue Wales but dolphins etc.The captain did not follow the crowd but relied on local fisherman to give him sightings as well as his own considerable experience.Most of the crew were English speakers and continuously kept us updated on where we were going and why Would strongly recommend

The captain of boat is very professional and respects the whale watchers find out the location of whales and dolphins for our watching. The boat is big enough to walk around and committed no over recruit the watcher to ensure the safety. In addition the breakfast and drinks are very sufficient.

Such a fabulous experience going for whale watching. Tharindu was amazing and he guided us so well. The entire crew was so warm and friendly. They offered us fresh watermelon, pineapple, cake and burger apart from crackers and more. We saw different species of dolphins and the pilot whale as well. It was an amazing time. A really great experience, good food, enjoyable sea swim and was lovely to see the ocean wildlife. Great guides who were very informative and it was lovely to not chase the dolphins like other boats in the vicinity but to enjoy and interact with them naturally

We were very impressed with this whale watching tour and we had a great time! The boat was well equipped, spacious and not crammed full with people. We appreciated that the company make sure that there is a cap on the bookings they take for each trip. We saw other boats that were overflowing with people and did not necessarily seem safe. Our tour took safety very seriously and we were encouraged to wear our life jackets. We were served with a tasty breakfast, drinks and snacks later on. The crew were amazing in every way-spotting wildlife, serving everyone, making sure that everyone knew about the species seen and something of their biology and also helping people with moving around the boat safely. The captain seemed to be very respectful of the marine creatures and was noticeably annoyed when other boats showed indifference to the animals, one even speeding over a manta ray we were watching without apparently noticing its presence. We would highly recommend this tour company.

We had a wonderful morning with the Whale Watching Club. Not only were we lucky enough to see both dolphins and whales, but the crew's kindness was truly exceptional. We were traveling with our three young children who were very tired because of the early start. The staff went above and beyond by setting up mattresses on the floor so the kids could sleep comfortably while we continued the tour. It made such a difference for us as parents! The boat felt safe, the staff were professional and respectful of the animals, and the hospitality was 10/10. Highly recommend!

The crew were nice and friendly. As they say there is a 50/50 chance that you can see a whale, they searched around the ocean for 5 hours and there was none. The sea was also choppy and we couldn't have a swim time due to the unsafe conditions of the sea. However, the staff did their best to make us feel welcome. We had some great videos of dolphins around the boat. The 6 am start time is a bit of a challenge but it is manageable. Definitely do not skip the sea sickness tablets if you join this tour. They give you at the beginning and due to rough sea conditions, it was so worth it. All in all, if you have 6 hours to kill in the sea, it's a tour that you can take but due to our bad luck, it felt a bit disappointing at the end of the tour. So manage your expectations accordingly.

We had a very successful time on the water. This was my 3rd whale watching trip from Mirissa but this was my first time with this operator. Our boat was technically full but I really appreciated the low head count on board - it made everything very easy to see for everyone and was a big contrast to the other operators’ boats on the water. We saw lots of dolphins and also blue whales. Many operators say they are respectful of the animals but really this is lip service and are still extremely intrusive. WWC are genuinely respectful which was good to see. They are the first boat out on the water which is an advantage so take note of their meeting times. Food and water on board was plentiful. The only “issue” was we stayed out too long. The trip is billed as 4-5hrs. We were out for 6.5hrs. Just as we were getting close to the harbor we spotted another pair of whales and the captain followed them and headed out to sea again. This greatly extended the trip. In the end all of the passengers agreed we’d seen more than enough and persuaded the captain to return to port. It’s a very early start and based on the published itinerary we’d made plans for the afternoon which we had to get back for. This made the captain’s timekeeping a frustrating niggle on an otherwise perfect trip.

A great morning out! The boat is expertly handled and the crew are really friendly and helpful. We saw loads of dolphins, Spinners and Bottlenose..no whales, but that's always up to chance.. A great experience though.

We had a really pleasant morning out on the ocean. Saw lots of dolphins and one whale right next to the boat. We were very happy that the captain decided not to stay to watch the whale once all the other boats surrounded it, but instead chose to leave. The food was good too =).

As a group with 3 children and the youngest being 2 we were hesitant about being on a busy crowded boat tour, so we were pleased to see we could book a private Speedboat boat tour for our group with WWC. Communication over whatsapp was smooth and we chose our date when we arrived in Sri Lanka, although the morning slots were very popular so best to book in advance. We were greeted by the captain and 1 other member of the boat, the Speedboat was lovely and spacious for the group. While no guaranteed to see animals of course, we were hoping to have some luck and indeed we did! We literally saw about 100 dolphins, swimming all around us and doing jumps and twirls, it was amazing, topped off right at the end by a pod of about 10 pilot whales, simply stunning experience.

A lovely morning out on the sea with our two young children (1.5 and 5 years old). Due to our youngests age we were struggling to find a tour but WWC allowed us to book a private tour which I highly recommend! No whales unfortunately but we saw loads of dolphins and some turtles. Just luck of the draw with the whales unfortunately. They were very respectful of the animals and changed location when it got busy.

What can I say, a truly amazing experience from WWC, the trip was amazing and they did an incredible job of finding whales, dolphins and flying fish without causing and impact to the animals.

I really enjoyed my morning out on the high seas with WWC. The office was easy to find for check-in and the boat is large and modern, it looked well-maintained and felt safe. Unlike on other boats, life jackets were provided for everyone. As promised we were first to leave and last back in. We saw Fin Whales, Spinner and Bottlenose dolphins and Turtles. The staff were super-friendly and the snacks were great. Some of the other big boats looked pretty ramshackle in comparison to ours and were absolutely packed with people, whereas WWC's boat was not at all crowded. Through no fault of WWC whale-watching at Mirissa is a bit of a zoo with as many as 25 boats chasing any whale that shows itself but our captain was often the pathfinder, finding animals first and showing his expert knowledge. The main offenders are the small private speedboats which charge very high prices just to behave in a selfish and disruptive way. Long-established and responsible operators like WWC are still well worth supporting especially considering the very reasonable cost.

For whale watching you need a little luck. And boy were we lucky. First there wasn't too much wind, so the sea was rather calm. But also with multiple sightings of fin whales. The crew works hard to give you the best experience. They supply you with food, snacks and seasickness pills. And make sure you have a good live of sight too spot the whales, dolphins and other sea live.

Had a very nice, comfortable and successfull tour with WWC. First we saw fin whale which was chased by some smaller boats, then a lot of spinner dolphins playing and swimming in front of our boat. On the way back we saw the fin whale again, but nobody was chasing him so we managed to see it up close.

A very great experience with the whale watching club. There were not too many people on the boat, we received explanations about the whales, and the breakfast was good. We saw fin whales, turtles and a lot of dolphins. Special thanks to the captain for his friendly behaviour.

All the crew/team showed us professionalism. Especially the captain. We started early morning to be almost the first on the whale spot . The captain always was focused on the sea to find the best way to satisfy everyone. The crew gave all the informations with all the details. Food was amazing always with exactly vitamins to keep us for all the trip. Thank you WWC for this awesome experience.

Great experience seeing Finn whales and dolphins. Kept us informed with where we heading and what we were seeing. Staff were very attentive. Breakfast and snacks were provided which were tasty.

A very well run trip with pleasant and engaging staff . The sea was calm and the captain was very good at keeping people informed which probably healed . We also managed to sea a few Fin whales which is what the trip is all about .

The excursion was very well organized. The boat was full but there was ample room for everyone to see sightings. We were offered anti-sickness tablets, fruit and sandwiches soon after the boat departed at 6.15 am. The staff was very polite and helpful. They kept us informed on where we were headed and potential sightings. We saw a school of dolphins and later, a whale shark gliding around our boat. It was a thrilling sight to see the largest fish in the world. The captain went far into the sea to look for a mother whale and her calf but no luck. The team was conscious of being “green” when serving food and collecting trash. They also did everything they could to look for whales while keeping a respectful distance. Unfortunately other big boats and smaller vessels were not as mindful. A tip: Go 30 minutes early to grab a seat. We did not know they allow people to board early so had to sit on the upper deck’s floor for part of the trip.

We had a wonderful trip - the number of people on the boat is limited so there is plenty of room . Great food and lots of it , well maintained boat. Fabulous staff and Manoj was very knowledgeable . We saw two types of dolphins, wonderful sightings of fin whales, flying fish, tuna and a calamari. Great company and I really recommend them.

Fantastic, just as advertised, the boat is not crowded like so many others, the food and drink they give you are great and the captain does a great job of finding what you are there to see
