Galle Fort Walk With Glamorous Stories

Excellent well informed guide with very easy listening English. We learned a lot about the three colonialists and the development of Galle. Very enjoyable

We had an early morning walking tour of Galle Fort with Dilip and it was very informative and enjoyable. Dilip is an engaging and knowledgeable guide who is able to answer all questions fully and has a comprehensive record of the buildings of the town.

Dilip gave us a great tour around Galle Fort. He was full of history about the Portuguese, Dutch and English influences. It was a nice paced stroll around , finishing with the lowering of the fort flag and sunset. He was easy to communicate prior to the tour,

Dilip was very informative and we enjoyed learning about the history from the Portuguese to the present day, as well as wandering the streets looking at the architecture.

We booked Dilip via our local tour operators who clearly knew he was going to be good! Our family (with kids 13 and 11) enjoyed walking around Galle with Dilip learning about the history of the buildings and area. Dilip has excellent knowledge of the area and was able to answer all of our questions. It was great walking with a local guide (Dilip is from Galle), so as we walked we were able to learn about the effects of the tsunami, and other cultural aspects of the city.

Very personable young man with good knowledge of the fort at Galle. He spoke good English and although it was pouring with rain and some thunder and lightning we still managed the tour!!

I was looking for a low-key tour of Galle Fort, and could not have done better! Dilip paired me with another solo traveler, which made for a wonderfully personal tour of the historic site. As a local, Dilip has a deep knowledge of the Fort, and he shared many wonderful anecdotes from his own experiences. It was a terrific way to learn all about the history and life of Galle. Even after the tour concluded, Dilip joined me for refreshments and we continued our conversation. It was a great way to spend the morning in Galle with a genuinely nice guy - I recommend highly.

Dilip was so knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Galle having lived in the area all his life. He even found us a good place to shelter from a sudden thunderstorm in the middle of the tour. A very interesting place with so much history and character.

Very informative , knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide for our walk of Galle Forte and the Galle Cricket Ground. Able to enter ground whilst a match was being played. Nothing too much trouble and very considerate of my partner’s physical limitations. Tour of 2 hours. Well worth it going on.

We had Dilip as our guide for the tour of Galle Fort. Dilip is very knowledgeable and is an expert in the history of the Fort, covering, Dutch, Portuguese and British rule of the Fort dating back many centuries. His English speaking skills are very good and we were easily able to understand everything Dilip explained in his own unique style with humour. Dilip is softly speaking but very polite and was able to answer any questions we asked. I highly recommend Dilip as your walking guide when you are in Galle.

Dilip is simply a fabulous guide! Personable, prompt, informative and kind - my husband had a foot injury from earlier in our holiday and Dilip provided unobtrusive and very welcome help on steps, etc. Dilip backs up his tour with copies of paintings from the past showing similarities and changes which immerses you in the history of Galle. Dilip's background makes him ecologically aware and we had very interesting conversations with him on this matter. Very highly recommended!

Dilip is an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable. We had a minor incident with a TukTuk (not Dilip’s fault) and he dealt with it very professionally. If you want a 2hr walking tour of Galle fort, this is perfect.
