The best experience!!! I finished my open water certificate here and did some fun dives afterwards. Going to historic shipwrecks was insane to see, and the amount of wildlife we saw was so beautiful. Everything was done super safely, they take it very serious and the gear was in very good condition. My instructor Tharu was the best person ever… He was so kind, patient and 10/10 energy. He made my trip in Sri Lanka:) The drivers of the boats, the other instructors and the manager were all so kind as well, this place radiates amazing energy, its so welcoming and fun there is no nerves at all. This place will hold a special place in my heart, i hope to come back soon and dive with them again. Very very very special place! Thank you Sun diving❤️

Some experiences become more than just something you do, and for me, diving with Sun Diving Center has become exactly that. I completed all of my diving courses with Sun Diving Center, and looking back, I honestly couldn’t imagine having a better team to guide me through my journey. From the very beginning, they have been there for every step of my progression, from learning the fundamentals to becoming a more confident, capable, and responsible diver. Excellent Dive Centre, great staff, professional but friendly and fun too, very relaxed. Experienced diver so wanted to go to decent sites and not disappointed, really good, especially the Rangoon and SS Orestes Wrecks. 4 dives going out a day and just choose when to join 👍 Didn’t rent equipment but all looked good quality and well looked after. Thoroughly recommend 👍😎

We have just finished a great two days diving with sun diving. Wishva led our diving for the three certified divers and could not have been better. So helpful and great sense of humour and fun. The diving was excellent number of different sites and lots to see. Our other son did his open water padi and successfully qualified. A really great dove centre could not recommend any higher. I’m Samith Fernando, a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer with over 30 years of experience and more than 20000 dives. I am the owner of Kalpitiya Diving Center and Scuba Diving Sri Lanka, both PADI 5-Star Dive Centers. Our second diving location on the southern coast is in Unawatuna. We recently visited Sun Diving PADI 5-Star Dive Resort in Unawatuna, and I must say that the welcome we received from Dilshan, the owner of the Unawatuna Diving Center, was incredibly warm. My family had a wonderful experience, and we did two dives with this center. My children really enjoyed their time. Our dive guide, Mr. Tharu, was excellent—an experienced dive master who is very knowledgeable about all the local dive sites. The dive center has a great team of instructors and dive masters, all of whom are highly experienced. The equipment was in top condition, and there is a nearby restaurant that serves delicious food, which made our experience even more enjoyable. A heartfelt thank you to Dilshan for his hospitality. We are Group of 15 certified divers based Qatar with around 5 nationalities went to explore diving in Sri Lanka and our amazing Dive center was Sun diving SriLanka and the produce to us a five stars services and helping and Gide in briefing and in boat and in the surface and under water we did 10 dive with a perfect teem from their dive center, all of them was perfect I have a special thanks for the perfect dive master Asia Kula for take care for all diver

Everything about this organisation was slick and helpful from the first online communication to the actual dive. As a newly certified diver, this was my first fun dive. They helped me check my equipment and then we were off in the boat to travel a short distance to the dive site. It was just me and my dive master in the water as my wife chose to snorkel around the anchored boat instead. The wind was whipping up the surf so visibility wasn't the best (about 8m I guessed) but sufficient to see the plethora of brightly coloured fish, the wreck, the amazing lines of seabed pots and the spooky statue which seems to creep up on you. Got to see a stingray and a lion fish. Back on shore, the tea was refreshing after the exhilaration of diving in a mild swell. Everything about Sun Diving was professional and the location is beautiful.

We were a group of 15 divers travelled together for 10 fun dives over 3 days. The dive instructors, dive masters and the whole team were fantastic. I felt safe with this dive centre. All the dives were boat dives and we returned back to the centre after each dive. The team took all our equipment to the boat for us, assisted us on board, helped us to put on our equipment and helped to get in and out of the sea. After each dive they took our kit back to the dive centre and changed the tanks over whilst we sat and drank tea! An excellent experience thankyou !

We had refresher dives since it had been a while since we last dived – the instructors were helpful and skilled. After that, we did four dives, only renting equipment. It was the most affordable diving I’ve ever experienced ($25–45 per dive). The equipment was good, and they took care of all the rigging and transport for us while serving tea on the beach. The staff were friendly and service-oriented. The dive sites and marine life were impressive. (Unfortunately, the coral life is somewhat limited due to the tsunami, but this applies to the entire coast.)

Very happy with this place! Very nice venue right on the water and incredibly friendly staff. All dives went smoothly and they were very efficient and helpful throughout. Not to mention it was very affordable!

Awesome diving experiences in early October. We wanted to go out, and they were honest with us saying that the visibility wasn't great, but they went out anyway and took us on some wonderful dives. As it was early season it was mostly just my partner and I with Wishva (Divemaster). Wishva was very attentive to what we wanted to see, and was able to edit dives to our liking! Boat crew also great and their driver knows the sea like the back of his hand. We felt so welcomed that after we left Unawatuna, we came back solely to go diving with Sun Diving, lovely people x) Amazing experience. AND TEA! :D

The diving team were very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. They talked us through all of the information we needed not having dived for a while. They demonstrated clearly and supported us throughout. They were ensuring our safety at all times and bent over backwards to make it easy and a pleasure for us. A great team!!

Had an amazing experience with Sundiving! I did my Open Water PADI here and they did an amazing job at teaching me and keeping me safe. Besides the professional treatment I also had a lot of fun here and made new friends! I recommend this place 100% if you want to do a fun dive, discover dive or your PADI!!

Had a great experience at Sun Divers. My fiancée and I are fairly inexperienced open water divers with 15 dives each and felt so well looked after here. We did 2x Fun Dives in the morning and both were great. The gear and facilities are good and the staff are super friendly. My fiancée sometime gets nervous descending on the first dive after a while and Shan was so patient and calm helped her enjoy it all. The second dive was a breeze and the guys are so clued up. Would definitely recommend Sun divers if you’re wanted to get some diving in Unawatuna and the post-dive beer at the lovely attached bar just hits differently!

I had a wonderful dive despite some rough seas and poor visibility. The guides are extremely competent and make you feel very safe. They gave me a quick refresher with very clear instructions. I was worried about loosing my guide due to lack of visibility but he staid very close which made me feel very safe and in good hands. Saw lots of pretty fishes up close as well as a shipwreck and an underwater statue!

Such a great time diving here! The visibility wasn't the best but we knew that was likely as we have been in Sri Lanka at this time of year before and they had told us honestly what to expect when we emailed ahead of our arrival. Great location right on the beach with easy access to the boats. When we arrived we were made to feel really welcome and everything was explained clearly. Each day the dive sites were chosen carefully with a good briefing and we were asked if it was OK. They went out of their way to try to give us a good selection and different sites as we were there for a while and we really appreciated the 'special' dive sites! Our dives were managed really well above and below water with a good ratio of dive guides to divers ( 1 to 1 on one occasion!). Nothing was too much trouble for them and I would certainly recommend them for a great time diving. All the staff were not only very knowledgeable and professional but really good fun! We had such a great time both diving and at their beach party!

I had such a good experience at this dive centre and so glad I choose here. The staff were very friendly and they make sure you have a great experience from when you arrive, at the same time professional and knowledgable. When I was diving I felt safe and any worries I had underwater the dive master was there straight away to support/guide me. I saw many different species of fish and the dive master was good at spotting the hidden ones! They have a nice location joint onto a bar/restaurant that do great food so everything you need in one spot! I would highly recommend this dive centre if diving in Unawatuna 😊

Good dive in not the best day for water conditions regardless. Very knowledgeable and professional divers to accommodate us on the dive.

Words do not do justice to such a magnificent experience! My partner and I had never dived before and ending up doing Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver and in total 20 dives with the guys at Sun Diving Centre - we plan to do more before heading home too! Feroz was our instructor for the certifications and he was wonderful. He is a lovely guy, very patient and relaxed, and we always felt well looked after with him. We consider him our scuba father! He taught us everything we know so far, and it really has been an incredible beginning to something we know we will continue to do for a long time. Our only criticism is that sometimes it was a little hard to understand specific aspects of a brief, for example, but as long as you ask questions and remain vocal if you have any hesitations, Feroz will break everything down even simpler and make sure that you understand what you need to do. We felt very well looked after by the whole team, who were always attentive and friendly. Not to mention the much appreciated tea time! We really feel that we developed a great relationship with the guys there, and they would even send me a text to say that the visibility is good, time for a dive! The equipment was in good order, with a good selection of masks and fins etc. We experienced one faulty pressure gauge in 40 combined dives and that was all. Fortunately my partner knows how much air she uses so there wasn’t an issue. Shan and his family run the business, and Shan does most of the admin and organising, as well as being a dive master too. He speaks excellent English so there’s little room for miscommunication in terms of prices and timings etc, and he is a lovely, sweet and hospitable gentleman. The captains were great fun, all the guys that help with equipment and diving support are super helpful and friendly, and our deepest appreciation goes to the man of the moment, the one and only Salin! Salin was so helpful with equipment, information, just generally being a wonderful human being but most of all, he took a LOT of pictures of us and the marine life, for which we are eternally grateful. Thank you Salin!!! The wrecks are fascinating to dive, Rangoon and Oresstos, we also really enjoyed Aluth Gala, so much to see. We saw Octopi, rays, eels, groupers, big puffers, all the tropical fish that Sri Lanka has to offer and we were lucky enough to have a turtle join us for 5 minutes one day too! It’s heartbreaking that there isn’t a huge amount of coral and I am sure that there is little marine life compared to recent years, as is the case in so many places now. Some days the visibility is so good you can see right down to the bottom from the boat, but usually the visibility is 10 metres or so. All that being said, there are still so many wonderful things to see! I travel a lot and diving just opens up a whole new way of exploring places, and most importantly, understanding and having awareness of other life that exists in those places - and how our actions impact them! We couldn’t say enough good things about Sun Diving and the whole team. Thank you for opening up and sharing these wonderful experiences with us!

Fantastic session at Sun Diving. 2 of us - one with PADI, another not qualified. Staff were excellent and informative. Both of us had a teaching session (refresher for experienced one, basic for newbie) then both went out to shallow water to practice basic techniques. Taken out on boat to the dive site - both of us down for 40 mins total. Got to see ship wrecks and lots of fish and coral. Very well looked after throughout dive. Good fun, professional service, would recommend .

All the people there were really super nice, open, and professional. It was a wonderful first experience and I would recommend it to everyone. The instructors there took their time, listened to me when I had questions, and helped me. I felt in good hands at all times!

Great diving experience, very good new equipment, friendly attentive team. My patient Guid has always made me aware of various special fish, including macro! I took wonderful photos of nudibranchs, blenny and crabs.

We have successfully completed our Open Water Advanced certificate at the Sun Diving diving center. Communication in advance via WA was great, so we were able to carry out the theory part at home before our course! The 2 days for the practical elements of the course were used in a great way. All dives were from the boat. The crew is very accommodating, nothing is missing. In the event of short-term bad weather, there was an excellent response with the option to wait on land to see if it would improve or the 3rd quarter of the year would be over. Dive to postpone until the next day. We felt welcome at any time and could trust our diving instructors over and underwater at any time 100%. Thanks for the great 2 days with you!
