Day Trip To Ella & Lipton's Seat With Train Ride [All Inclusive]

From the minute we booked this day tour the service was excellent. We were contacted immediately by Mathew from SL Wayfares with all the information we needed including the train tickets and times, we were very impressed. He was a really nice guy, chatty, considerate, a good driver. The tour was amazing, hoped us so much on the train ride, coming into the station and locating our carriage and seats. The ride was absolutely gorgeous, be sure to try the amazing hot peanuts a guy brings round on the train, the scenery was gorgeous. Driver met us at the other station and we headed to the very interesting tea plantation and then o for a wonderfulunch with the most amazing view restaurant and then safely dropped off back at our hotel. This trip is amazing, Mathew was amazing and SL WAYFARERS did fantastic. Thanks to everyone for making this a fantastic day.

The Ella Day Tour was an amazing experience! From the scenic Little Adam’s Peak hike to the stunning Nine Arches Bridge and Ravana Falls, every stop was breathtaking. The trip started very early in the morning, but it was definitely worth it. The drive from the south coast to Ella is long, but the scenery along the way is absolutely beautiful, with mountains, tea plantations, waterfalls, and small villages. One of the highlights was visiting Nine Arches Bridge, which is a stunning and iconic spot. We were lucky to see the train passing, which made the experience even more special

Amazing Experience ever. with in Day we cover all these things with this Nuts. Rawana Wter Falls and Little Adams Peak hiking then Nine Arches Bridges and back to Liptons Tea and had amazing Train Ride and had a Wonderfull Tuk Tuk ride. No need to stay in Ella with in Day they covered All those things and comfortable journey with safe hands.

We booked the full-day Ella tour (waterfall, Nine Arch Bridge, train ride, and tea plantation) after reading the company’s many glowing reviews, and we chose to pay extra specifically for an English-speaking guide and an all-inclusive experience. Unfortunately, what we received was nothing close to what was advertised. Although the tour was promoted as “all-inclusive,” we were required to pay an entrance fee for the Lipton Seat viewpoint — in cash — something we were never informed about ahead of time. Bottled water was supposedly included, but none was provided at any point. We ended up buying our own at lunch. Evening snacks, also listed as included, were not offered at all. However, the biggest issue by far was that our guide did not speak English, despite this being a key feature of the tour and the reason we booked with this company. He was a lovely and polite young man who genuinely tried his best, but because he did not speak English, we spent the entire day visiting sites with no explanations, history, or context whatsoever. We learned nothing, and it absolutely ruined the experience we paid for. Every other tour group around us was getting detailed explanations in English, German, Russian — even in the pouring rain — while we stood silently without guidance. When we raised these issues with the company afterward, the excuses became progressively more frustrating. They blamed the weather, claiming the original guide couldn’t come because of personal issues, and insisted they had “tried their best.” But heavy rain has absolutely nothing to do with the ability to provide an English-speaking guide. That responsibility lies solely with the company. To make matters worse, they repeatedly offered us discounts on future tours or airport pickups, even after we clearly told them multiple times that we were leaving the country the next day and would not be taking any more tours. Instead of addressing the problem, they tried to upsell us, which felt disrespectful and tone-deaf. We requested a reasonable partial refund due to the fact that the most important part of the tour — the English guide — was not provided, and that the tour was not all-inclusive as advertised. The only refund they offered was 4,100 LKR that didn’t come close to reflecting what we paid, and ultimately they refused to provide anything meaningful. For a tour that cost 84,000 LKR, this experience was absolutely not worth it. It left us with a very disappointing final day in Sri Lanka, which is truly a shame because we loved the rest of our trip. I rarely leave negative reviews, but guests deserve honesty and transparency. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this company, and future customers should be aware of the gap between what is promised and what is actually delivered.

!A great trip with an even better driver and guide — Mathews Sri Lankan traditions combined with great fun and the rich culture of this place. It was a wonderful trip starting 5:30 am and we were back in the hotel at 8 pm (starting from Weligama). Yes it is a three hours ride from Weligama to the first stop but the hikings, the vegetation, the views: all worth driving

Our tour to Ella from Mirissa was nothing short of magical. Yes, it was a long drive — but every hour on the road offered a window into the real Sri Lanka. Rolling hills, misty mountains, smiling villagers, and roadside fruit stands created the perfect backdrop for our journey into the island's lush interior. Ella itself is a charming little town nestled among tea-carpeted hills. The vibe is relaxed, the air crisp, and the views simply jaw-dropping. The Nine Arch Bridge was even more impressive in person than in pictures. We arrived just as a train rumbled across it — a bucket-list moment that felt like a scene out of a movie. The walk through the forest to get there added to the experience — peaceful, green, and full of birdsong. The highlight for us, though, was the trip up to Lipton’s Seat. We took a tuk-tuk through the Lipton tea plantation, winding through emerald green fields, waving at tea pickers, and taking in some of the most spectacular views in the country. At the summit, where Sir Thomas Lipton himself used to sit and admire his empire, we were treated to a 360-degree panorama that stretched for miles. It was cool, quiet, and deeply serene. And of course, the Ella train ride — what an unforgettable experience. It lives up to the hype and then some. Hanging out the open doors, gliding through tunnels, past waterfalls and villages... it felt like we were part of something timeless. Despite the long haul from Mirissa, this tour was the perfect way to explore the heart of Sri Lanka. We saw so much of the countryside, from coast to hills, and came away with a deeper appreciation for the island’s natural beauty and culture. Highly recommend this experience for anyone who wants more than just beaches — this is Sri Lanka at its most magical.

An early start (4am) it was worth it. We were given all of the information about our trip via WhatsApp the day before, this was easy to follow and everything went according to schedule. All perfect. You skip the crowd at each attraction. The early wake up is worth it, and you’re back during the afternoon. Dinesh the driver is very engaged and very forward looking

It was Solo Experience i think it was group or some group activity but they reserved private vehicle with good driver, and it was awesome day tour from down south beach to Ella and that train ride in Ella was unique experienced there. As well as i drive Tuk Tuk in Liptons Seat and that tree bushes and other view points are awesome. No need to stay in Ella. Highly recommended this day tour.

Superb Tour. Great communication from SL Wayfares Team. Sammu was our driver and guide for the day. Very friendly and professional. Explained local landmarks, stopped for photos, and generally looked after us really well. Met us straight off the train. The waterfall, Little Adams Peak, the train ride and the Tuk Tuk ride all amazing. The lunch also fantastic in a quality restaurant. No short comings here. Highly recommend.

A great experience. Everything you need to see in Ella, in one day! I didn't feel rushed at all either. It was perfect for what I wanted to experience in Ella. Waterfalls, hiking, the train ride, local cuisine for lunch, tea plantations. Even got to have a go at driving a Tuk Tuk. Highly recommend, and worth the money.

The whole day was memorable! The driver was super friendly and professional at the same time. He picked us up at our guest house at 5am and then we drove all the way to Ella. He gave us information about the history and traditions in Sri Lanka, walked with us to the top of mini adams peak and guided us to the most wonderful views. He secured a great spot on the train ride for us and everything always with a smile. Also the run tuk drive was an experience, even though it was raining and there was no view because of the clouds, we still had the time of our lives as the tuk tuk driver let us drive back down. And let us pick tea leaves and tast the different varieties. We were back in the evening around 8pm. It was a wonderful day that I will remember with a smile on my face!

My husband and I visited Sri Lanka for our mini honeymoon and had a full 7-day itinerary planned. On the second day, we were supposed to head to Kandy just to catch the famous scenic train ride to Ella and spend two nights there. Unfortunately, we couldn’t book the train tickets online due to unavailability, so we ended up canceling our original plan and heading to Galle instead. After spending two lovely days in Galle, we made our way to Ahangama. While relaxing at our hotel and browsing things to do on Booking.com, I came across this day tour to Ella. Without thinking twice, I booked it for the both of us — and I’m so glad I did! Our guide Mathew picked us up at 5 AM for a 3-hour drive to Ella. Our first stop was the stunning Ravana Falls — absolutely gorgeous (though swimming isn’t allowed here). Next, we headed into Ella town for a quick breakfast before starting our 45-minute hike to Mini Adam’s Peak. The view at the top made every step worth it! We then rushed to Ella station to catch a scenic train ride to Haputale. Once we arrived, our personal tuk-tuk driver Suresh took us up to the famous Lipton Tea Seat and through the beautiful tea plantations. We even got to meet some of the workers and try our hand at picking tea leaves — such a wholesome and memorable experience. Our final stop was the iconic Nine Arches Bridge, which was pure bliss to see in person. Mathew was such a friendly, fun, and hospitable guide — he made our day truly unforgettable. We loved every bit of the experience. Thank you, Mathew!

The day was packed with lots of activities, but Mathews was very nice, friendly, and accommodating to our needs. The pickup was on time@ 5 am at our hotel in Weligam, and we were back at the hotel by 9 PM. We managed to see and do a lot for one day, and even saw an elephant on the side of the road 😄

Both myself and husband enjoyed this trip. Got picked 4.30AM and returned at 8.00PM. The driver was experienced and you coud see he was not nodding off like previous driers we had. He picked up both up on this time and drove us to Ella. Stopping off at a waterfall on route where we are able to take a few photos. We thengt a train from Ella and it was 45 minits train ride. Then we ha a wonderful tuk tuk journey to Lipton seat. It was amazing paradise with lot of greenary yard. A lovely day trip would recommend this trip.it was little more money than a lot of other trips.

It was the most epic thing to do in Ella, as there is a marked path that leads you up to the mountain.Worthy for money.

I arrived at the south coast of sri lanka in August with my girlfriend then I came across this amazing deal in which the whole trip was coverd in just one day The spectacular drive to Ella was simply magical. The journey itself was a highlight, winding through tea plantations and misty mountains and quaint villages. This slow travel also gave us all the time in the world to take in the lush scenery and snap a million photos it was worth every penny I highly recomend this travel Agent and worthy for price.

Excellent tour even though it was an early start. Climbing up little Adams peak before it got busy and hot walking down to the Nine Arches train tracks and get scenic train ride from Ella. It was amazing train ride ever. I saw all I needed and enjoy we d it without doing whole 7hours from Kandy.
