Amazing amazing experience! Indra was so lovely and friendly and really had high spirits the whole class. From start to finish, she was so accommodating and it was such an authentic experience to pick our own vegetables and then go back and prepare the dishes together. Highlights were definetly making fresh coconut milk and grounding the spices! Learnt so much and all the food tasted so delicious! Following the class, we sat to eat the dinner and the presentation was incredible. The friendly dog princess was the cutest, she watched us and slept by the door as we cooked!

A fabulous afternoon enjoying Sri Lankan hospitality and learning how to cook curries and dhal. Prabodi was so accomodating in changing the time of the class to earlier in the day as we had a tour itinerary change - thank you for this. Walking through your garden and seeing the types of plants you are growing was so interesting. Even the happy birthday sign - just a unique personal experience that I will treasure. I’m keen to try out these new cooking skills back in Australia
The perfect Authetic cooking lesson, we saw every step and assisted in all aspects along the way. The food was incredible, certainly the best i have had (and i have had my fair share these last 2 weeks!)❤️ Can’t forget about the cutest pup assistant!🐶
Amazing cooking class with Indra and Nona. We were welcome with a fresh juice. Before the class we went shopping and we decided what type of curries we would cook, 4 different one. It was fun, we dance, talk and cook. Indra is a very good teacher, we took notes and feel confident about doing it all again at home. We have visited their guesthouse and rooms are absolutely gorgeous. If you don't know where to stay in Mirissa, we would definitely recommend this place.
This authentic cooking experience was one of the best things I did in Sri Lanka. The food was amazing! As we say in Ireland - we had great craic!!!
We booked through TripAdvisor and relatively short (48hr) notice. Booking was easy and directions clear. We agreed the TukTuk fare from Cape Weligama (2000 LKR, £5/$6.50) and swapped whatsapp with the driver for the return journey. A cold drink was offered on arrival, and we met the other two participants (two lovely Aussie ladies) and then headed to a local food store, using their own private TukTuk!) to choose some ingredients for the vegetable curries we were to meet. The cooking instruction was full participation and we learned a lot, not least the love of music of our tutor, who sand and danced her way through the class! Beers were offered for an extra LKR600, although this may depend on stock as only 3 cans were available (shared between us and enjoyed). The experience lasted c 4hrs, starting at 4pm. Highly recommended!
We had a great time cooking with Indra in her home. It was very authentic and the food was delicious. The trip to the local market was interesting and we all enjoyed learning about the traditional spices and cooking methods Highly recommend this experience
We had such an incredible experience doing the couples cooking class here. It was honestly one of the best curries we’ve had anywhere in Sri Lanka. The class was led by Indra, who was absolutely wonderful — warm, patient, and so good at explaining everything while still making the whole experience relaxed and really fun. We ended up cooking five different curries, and it was amazing to see how each one came together with different spices and techniques. Everything tasted incredible, and sitting down to eat the full meal we had just cooked together was such a great moment. The whole experience felt really authentic and welcoming. We also noticed the hotel rooms upstairs while we were there and they looked absolutely beautiful — like they would be an amazing place to stay. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting. Such a special way to experience Sri Lankan food and culture.
Loved this experience and learned how to cook amazing meals. It was very fun and comfortable. They were so welcoming and helpful even organising a Tuktuk for our journey home to the hotel.
We had a really good time with Indra and her family. They are really lovely people and you feel so welcome there. The food was very good and we bought the vegetables we wanted to cook together with her in a close by shop. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 The recipes should be provided, only point to improve.
Indra showed us the best way to cook up some tasty sri lankan curry which we all ate together for dinner. Funny, relaxed and delicious. Would recommend!
I recommend this experience to everyone, Nona and her mother, besides being excellent cooks, are incredible and special people, they made us feel at home and discover Sri Lankan cuisine with dedication and kindness. Thanks again for everything. I hope to see you again.
Thoroughly enjoyable cookery lesson run by Nona and her wonderful mum. We had a friendly and enthusiastic group of seven and it was a relaxed and engaging evening. We all sat down together to eat the delicious meal we’d helped prepare. Definitely recommend.
An absolutely fantastic afternoon with Prabodi and mum Indra who are hilarious and entertaining as well as being great cooks. We learnt to cook brinjal (eggplant), potato, green bean curries plus dhal and chicken, laughing all the while. They’ll be shut for a bit while Prabodi gets married, but 10/10 would recommend if available while you are in Mirissa.
A wonderful experience! Indra and Nona took such good care of us. It was a hands on education and the taste was the best!
A fun cooking class like going to someone’s house for a peaceful and personal learning experience. The family were lovely and we had fun cooking (and eating) delicious Sri Lankan food along with only one other couple. Highly recommended and not taxing on your cooking skills.
Fun cooking class with Indra and daughter. Enjoyed going to market to get ingredients and learnt a lot cooking them. Then fantastic to sit and eat them . A relaxed evening, highly recommend!
Indra and Nona were so welcoming, friendly and fun. Everything was very well organised, talked us through lots of dishes, and was very hands on. The outdoor cooking space was really nice, and set within a relaxing garden setting. Located not far from town centre
Cooking with Ingrid and Parodi was so much fun. It was just the two of us which made it even more personal. Such a great experience to get a little closer to the culture and into their everyday lives. From shopping at the market for fresh produce, to being welcomed into their home cooking and dining with them. We cooked 4 curries of our choice, rice and poppadoms . Which were absolutely delicious. Learning along the way( definitely a skill you can take home! ) But more importantly they were fun and friendly, we were dancing along whilst chopping the veg !
This cooking class was truly outstanding from start to finish. We were welcomed so warmly and lovingly that we felt at home immediately. I was absolutely amazed by how many different dishes we prepared – it was far more than expected. We were perfectly integrated into the whole process and were allowed to do everything ourselves, which made the experience even more authentic and fun. The food we cooked was one of the best we have eaten so far in Sri Lanka – unbelievably fresh, full of flavor, and simply delicious. We had such a great time and laughed a lot. We would do this cooking class again anytime without hesitation.
We had an absolutely amazing time at the cooking class. The whole experience was lovely, everyone was really friendly, and we got to cook some delicious Sri Lankan curries and enjoy them with the group after. The settings was lovely, off the beaten track in the families garden surrounded by nature! Indra and her family were amazing hosts, super welcoming and good fun! I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an enjoyable, light hearted cooking experience in Mirissa.
We had the best time. Started off by going to markets and picking the vegetables we wanted before making our own coconut milk and 5 x curry's. Best tasting curry we've had here in Sri Lanka and had so much fun. Could not recommend Indra and Prabodi enough
We had a wonderful cooking lesson!! We first shopped for local vegetables with a ride by tuktuk, before heading back to the Sri Lankan home, where we felt like part of the family. We prepared 5 curry dishes, step-by-step, with coconut milk from scratch & popadoms! It was a very authentic and personal experience, highly recommend!
We had such a wonderful cooking class with Prabodi & Indra. They took us to the markets to choose our fresh produce, and they were so kind & attentive throughout the entire class! The curries were one of the best we’d had in Sri Lanka - we highly recommend it 😍 (they’ve also opened up an air bnb in the same location which is absolutely beautiful)
We had such a wonderful time in this family-run cooking class!! Indra & Prabodi took us to the markets to pick fresh veggies & were so fun and friendly throughout the entire cooking process. The curries were the best we’ve had all trip & the location was so beautiful - highly recommend! Thank you both!!
The cooking class was really lovely. I loved that we went to the shop together and we were able to choose our own dishes. The food was really tasty and the atmosphere was so friendly and lovely the whole time. I definitely recommend it and would do it again! They also just startet Airbnb and the rooms looked so great. All in all it’s a really lovely place with great hosts!
I went with 4 friends to the cooking class. It was a beautiful home where we were able to cook together an amazing dinner with 4-5 different curries. First we all went shopping together, which I really enjoyed. The cooking itself was really interesting and fun. And of course the food was absolutely amazing and tasty! Highly recommended. Also they just started a new Airbnb Business and the rooms looked really well done.
From the moment I arrived, I felt right at home. The warm welcome and the family-like atmosphere immediately created a relaxed mood. What I especially loved was that we not only cooked together but also discovered many new ingredients and spices. The dishes were incredibly delicious and creative – a feast for all the senses. An all-around wonderful evening that leaves you wanting more. Thank you for this fantastic experience!
This was the highlight of our whole trip to Sri Lanka ❤️ we learnt to make five curries and rice and danced and laughed a lot with these beautiful ladies! I could not recommend this experience enough, we had the most incredible time ❤️
Great Experience!!! The cooking experience we had was nothing short of surreal. It was a complete value for money, more bangs per buck guaranteed. All the technical details of the experience were explained clearly by the host. The communication was just perfect. The cooking class was educating, all the veggies and seafood were cooked in the perfect SriLankan style. Tips & tricks of cooking were regularly imparted. The food turned out to be a total treat. SriLankan curries and the rice This place is in Mirissa ( 5 minutes walk from mirissa beach ). This is the BEST cooking class in sri lanka as we were given to understand by talking to a number of locals who were not related to each other or to the host, Overall, this class would really augment your SL trip and make you feel heavy with the culinary memories.
Super nice experience with very delicious food. It is very familiar and easy going, I can only recommend it.
We attended a cooking workshop on curry making, first we went shopping for groceries and then we started cooking. It's very well organized, we were told about the spices we're going to use, then we started chopping up the necessary foods, we chose eggplant, radish, pumpkin, lentils. Indra and her daughter talked about everything, and while the dishes were being prepared, we played Sri Lankan music and we danced with Indra, it was really fun and heartwarming! The dishes are delicious! They also have a very friendly dog, Labrador Princess, who wears leaves, runs in with a leaf in her teeth and lies down to be petted. They also have a pond of fish we fed bread to. Also during the cooking process, the monkeys crossed the wires with their babies, also managed to capture them! Recommend a visit! Very soulful and friendly hosts and cozy home! If you take a beer, don't forget to pay for it separately!
It was our first cooking class and it was really fun! The family is super sweet and you got a good insight into Sri Lankan cuisine. The food was very good and it was also taken into consideration for me as a not hot eater. It made me eat everything. The Cooking Class I can only recommend to everyone! An absolute must if you are in Mirissa and surroundings.:)
The cooking class with Indra and Nona was great! We were allowed to choose ourselves which types of curry we would like to prepare and select the vegetables in the shop. Together with Indra we cooked and of course we were allowed to taste our work at the end
We were greeted so warmly by Prabodi and her mom and then went to the vegetable stand together with the tuktuk. After that everything was always explained to us super great, shown and we were allowed to help with the cooking. It was so funny, we had a lot of fun! There were so many different dishes from lentils dahl, pumpkin curry, mushrooms, pampadam, coconut roti, fried potatoes - and it was the best food so far on our whole Sri Lanka trip !!!
The cooking class started with a visit to the market where they explained how to select the best raw materials. We prepared rice and curry with an expert cook who explained the tricks to make this dish tastier! Very funny and interesting!
