Botswana has a fascinating history and Otto brings it across excellently. If you get a chance to book another of her tours, I can only recommend it!

Manyana rock paintings - the most visited rock painting site in the Gaborone area, the paintings are spread over five separate areas of rock cliff face. Images include giraffe, antelope, human figures and geometric designs, all of which date from between 1100 and 1700AD. They were in all likelihood made by Khoe (click-speaking) herders.

One of the best tours I’ve done! Otto is 10/10 as a guide, she is so knowledgeable, kind and fun and truly knows botswana!
What an amazing tour. Our tour guide was amazing. Otto’s passion about her country and life in the village is so inspiring. The morning flew by in a wink of an eye - beautiful sights, lots of interesting information and an amazing tour guide. A definate trip to consider !!!
We had a great village tour with Otto. All the locations visited were full of interest, and she was a very informative and entertaining guide who shared a lot. Highly recommended.
This was a great way to learn about village life in rural Botswana (although not too far from the capital!). This village (Manyana) also had ancient petroglyphs in a sacred set of rocks. Otto also explained many cultural details about the area and Botswana in general.
It was fantastic to get out of the city and learn about village life, see a home and garden as well as ancient rock paintings and the Livingstone tree. Otto was a spectacular guide.
It is a great half day excursion from Gaborone. Our guide Oto was knowledgeable and extremely enthusiastic to show us the rock paintings, the Livingstone tree and the village of Manyana. Wonderful way to see the area around Gaborone.
Otto really provided me with a good understanding of the Botswana culture (in a way I got immersed in it). I would recommend it since she really got me to better understand the way of life, both with regards to the present and the past.
It was interesting to learn about (and see) the local village culture in Botswana, and and long ago.
The tour guide was great, the people she introduced to me were really really great. Its a very local experience which I loved!
I did the Manyana village tour and a 10 km hike at the Mokolodi game reserve. Saw hippos, giraffes, zebras, and all kinds of antelope. Saw a 3 ft monitor lizard jump off a 15 ft embankment into the river and some fish hawks. It was hot, so bring lots of water (I drank 3 liters). AMAZING!!
We did the full day version of the tour including the Manyana village visit and the Mokolodi Nature Reserve. The rock paintings are spectacular! The village experience was wonderful, with a delicious sorghum snack made for us by our guide, Andy, in the kitchen of a lovely local woman, who very kindly welcomed us into her home. The local guide as well was very charming and made us feel welcome in her village. In the afternoon we participated in a game drive at the nature reserve and enjoyed seeing a number of animals. The vehicle driver/guide was quite knowledgeable about all of them. Our tour group consisted of one adult and one 10-year-old child. The tour was at an appropriate level for both of us. The guides were more than willing to answer all of our questions from and we felt welcome throughout the tour. I would highly recommend this tour for adults or families.
What an experience to visit an authentic village on the outskirts of Gaborone, learn how to build a mud hut, discover 2,000 cave drawings, learn about the local plants, trees and herbal medecine, and finish it off with a game drive! This was such an enriching experience. I thoroughly recommend going through Heritage Adventures if you are visiting Gaborone. Top outfit!
Wonderful tour to the village of Manyana. In the village you can also experience a rock paintings and see the typical village life. Otto, who owns the tour company with her husband, has learned a lot about herbal medicine from her grandmother, and she shared a lot about the different plants and trees. After the tour to Manyana we went on a game drive and had a super lunch at the game drive restaurant.
I had a wonderful time! Seeing Manyana and the wall paintings was incredible, once in a life time. Our guide was very knowledgeable and had lots to say about everything.
This was an amazing tour that really gave a sense for life in a small village. The ancient cave paintings were breathtaking and the trip from the paintings to the Livingstone tree made memories for a lifetime! Highly recommend this trip.
