Neuschwanstein, Wieskirche, Oberammergau, Linderhof From Fuessen

We took the Bavarian Castles Tour and added a Salzburg extension with Astrid. The trip was no less than amazing. When we stepped out of the Munich airport control zone we were greeted by Shpendi, our tour guide/driver, who treated us like a combination of royalty and longtime friends. He drove us from Munich to Hopfen Am See and provided a general overview of what to expect throughout the tour. When we arrived at Landhouse Kossel we were warmly greeted by Astrid and shown to our room . Landhouse Kossel is a very nice place with amazing views. Very clean, well appointed, comfortable bed and just very nice overall. The breakfasts were abundant and delicious. The castles and views we saw will be in our minds for a long while. Each day in addition to the tour provided by a castle guide Shpendi added additional history and area information so we could better tie the events and timeline together. Astrid and Shpendi watched the weather and swapped the itineraries on a few days to ensure we had the best experience possible. Our day to Zugspitze was bright and clear with spectacular views. The Salzburg extension was just as wonderful as the Bavaria experience with accommodations at a nice modern hotel near the old city. Shpendi was an excellent guide and driver full of information and history on Bavaria and Europe. Each day of the entire tour was filled with activity but we never felt rushed. We very highly recommend Astrid’s tours. We even changed our travel plans for next year and are beginning to plan next year’s trip with Astrid and Shpendi!

Everything was excellent!! Alessandro is an awesome tourist guide, very knowledgeable about the German history, fully bilingual and must of all an extraordinary human being. 200% RECOMMENDED!!!

We were so fortunate to have Bruce as our private guide when we visited Neuschwanstein and Linderhof recently. He was so friendly and knowledgeable and the experience could not have been better! He took us to a lovely church on the way to the castle which was an added bonus. It was a long, memorable day and by the end we felt like he was part of the family.

My husband and I went on the Castle tour through Bravia and Austria which exceeded our expectations. Our tour guide Matej was knowledgeable and always knew the best spots to be in to get the perfect picture. He guided us to every castle, museum and restaurants and made us feel very comfortable. The food was amazing, the sights of the towns, castles and Alps were breathtaking. We went to Neuschwanstein, Linderhof, Hohenschwangau, and Herrenchiemsee Castles which were awesome. It has been my bucket list for many years to do a castle tour in Germany, and this tour was exactly what I was looking for. Astrid put together a great tour and was very warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend European Castle Tours and look forward to taking one of the other tours they offer.

Amazing Experience with Bruce as our guide! This tour was special because Bruce shared so many facts and lore about each location and family. He even fact checked a Castle tour guide to ensure we received the right information. He took many pictures of us so we didn’t have to take selfies. He was very knowledgeable and I highly recommend him as a guide.

This tour, organized by Astrid and delivered by our tour guide Paul, was the highlight of our 2 week holiday in Germany. It was well organized and totally exceeded our expectations. Our lunch stop delivered delicious food very efficiently as well. Highly recommend!

Sandro was knowledge about not only the castles but history and points of interest in the entire area. Plus he was fun. We had a relaxing day while Sandro made us feel comfortable.

Mattis was a perfect guide and we had the most amazing day touring the castles, church and Bavarian towns we got to see. The history of Ludwig II is fascinating and I felt like Mattis’s insights were a beautiful addition to the tours of the castles themselves. It was a perfect day that I’ll remember for a lifetime and I’m so glad I got to experience it!

This tour seemed costly at first, however, the peace of mind of having a guide and the tickets taken care of was well worth the price! Matthew helped make our time in Fussen so enjoyable! He was easy to communicate with prior to our tour and during the tour. He was very informative and well spoken. His van accommodated the 5 of us comfortably. You can tell that he loves his town and knows so much about it! I would highly recommend this tour and if you can request Matthew you won't be disappointed! Thank you again!

My husband and I had the most amazing time in Bavaria. This was certainly the trip of a lifetime and Astrid and her team exceeded our expectations. Our tour guides, Julia, Sandro and Matt, were very attentive, knowledgeable and provided excellent customer service. The accommodations were top notch from the beautiful scenery to the wonderful breakfast buffet. We enjoyed so many aspects of the trip it's hard to pinpoint favorite spots. We loved seeing the different castles, learning more about the region and visiting different sized Christmas Markets. I would highly recommend not only Astrid's tour company, but this trip in particular. Thank you so very much for making my first trip to Europe such a special one. We loved our Castles and Christmas Markets tour! The guides were very skilled - clear communication, helpful local knowledge, and pleasant. The itinerary was just right. We often had 2-3 activities per day with plenty of free time. We stayed in one comfortable location which was handy. Note that some of the locations are an hour or so away, so there is the necessary transportation time. Speaking of transportation, we were in 3 comfortable vans - not one coach bus. We appreciated that very much! We would recommend this company to anyone wanting to immerse yourself in what ever location you choose from their offerings.

It was part of our dream trip in late September 2024. Matheus our guide was very friendly, informative, interactive, and made us very comfortable throughout this spectacular journey. We are also thankful to his Manager that our last-minute changes were nicely accepted and well-managed. We started the day visiting the Neuschwanstein a real-life fairytale Castle which was an unforgettable experience (must recommend the horse carriage ride for a great experience while returning from the castle). Then he drove us through scenic Bavarian country sides including beautiful turquoise blue Lake Plansee with the serenity of the mountains in the background. We were 4 of us (inc. one young kid and an elderly person) but we did not feel any trouble with walking as he gave us personalized attention and never rushed us to anything. We also enjoyed the splendid lavishness of the Linderhof Palace built by King Ludwig II, loved being able to walk around and explored the village of Oberammergau, tried local delicacy and finally enjoyed the stunning rococo interior of Wieskirche. The whole trip was well organized, timely and we had a wonderful autumn day exploring various country sites. We definitely recommend this trip with Matheus in European Castles Tours to everyone.

The tour was wonderful! We really enjoyed the different scenery views and the tours. Our tour guide was amazing. The only thing is this is not light walking. We would call it moderate because there are many many stairs and hills to walk. Still, it was worth every minute. Our tour guide Matheus was so wonderful and drove us through beautiful land and took us to the prettiest town in Bavaria . He did not rush us and we received a whole days experience we will never forget. It was a great day we will use Viator again.

Jan was great! Tour was the highlight of our trip through Bavaria. Very knowledgeable, but low key. Great with kids! We would definitely recommend any tour with Jan.

János was absolutely wonderful. He was prompt and very engaging. He gave us a wonderful overview and was so knowledgeable. Every question we had, he knew. When we asked for insight or recommendations, he had many. He was so kind and my husband and I honestly didn’t want the day to end. We plan on booking with János in the future!

We had a nice tour with European Castles Tours. Our morning began promptly with our guide, Paul, meeting us at our hotel. The day was well planned and we had plenty of time to stop for photos, shop, and grab a snack or meal. In fact, the tour could have easily been compressed by 45 minutes to an 1 hour without have any impact. We really enjoyed the experience, it was great to see so much of the Fuessen and Oberammergau area in such a short time. A nice experience and we would recommend European Castles Tours again.
