Hotel San Marco

"Hotel" is in the name but this place really feels more like a quirky airbnb with all of the idiosyncrasies that usually entails. There is no lobby; check in involves walking into a bustling restaurant to get a key from the waitstaff. This wasn't made clear on my booking e-mail and I had to figure it out on my own. My room itself was good, it certainly was spacious. It featured a nice patio that provided a glimpse at mountains off in the distance. There was a kitchenette space with a fridge and a coffee maker. The room was somewhat ornately decorated, although not always with regard to function. Some aspects of it were looking a little tired and worn. On the other hand, there were two huge TVs with a wide range of channels. The bathroom was impressively large although the shower stall was very small. My room was generally clean. Unfortunately the room didn't have air conditioning so it got a bit stuffy - two fans were provided which made it manageable, but I don't think it would be great on a hot (+30 c) day. The location is good, just across from the lake and convenient to the town's restaurants. There were pretty views to be enjoyed from the room's patio. There is paid parking available in the hotel but it is not worth the hassle... driving into it means practically driving into the restaurant (you'll see what I mean) and the spaces are extremely tight and awkward to access. I found it easier to park on the street overnight, which you can do at no charge. One unpleasant aspect of the hotel is the extremely rancid stench you must encounter when walking to the room. The corridors pass by the restaurant's dumpsters and they are extremely foul smelling. The odor is only momentary as you can't smell it once you're inside the suite, but it is not enjoyable. All this having been said, my room was good value for money. It was just not quite what I was expecting when I booked it.

I had a problem with my travel with my family, I tried to cancel it for free and the person was super unhelpful, unprofessional and mean, stay as far as possible of this place, they just think in the money and don’t care about others

We had a fantastic stay! Everything was very clean and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They even helped us book another hotel from the same owner for our return trip, which we really appreciated. The beds were very comfortable and the location is beautiful and easy to reach. Perfect both for a stopover and for a longer stay. Breakfast was also very well taken care of. Highly recommended!

Very nice hotel and kind people. Close to Fussen and the castles. We enjoy the great view to the lake and mountains. Highly recommended 👌
