We had a perfect day! Val is a great and knowledgeable person with a positive spirit! Definitely the best way to experience the island. We went for the East Tour and will 100% go with Val to the West next time. He showed us places we never would have been able to drive on our own. We chose Val's tours after reading the positive reviews and we're so glad that we did. We did both the East and West tours on consecutive days. Both days we saw so many sights. The tours were tailored so that we avoided crowds and also got to see local places off the usual tourist track. All members of the family had a fantastic time. Both of our children have autism and their needs were accommodated well. The off roading was lots of fun, the cafes we were taken to for lunch were great, and we saw so many places we would never have managed to visit had we tried to do this independently. Val provided lots of interesting information. We highly recommend both East and West tours. Definitely the highlight of our stay in Madeira.

We had the best two tours with Val. We did one focusing on the East and one in the West. Showed us places we never would have found or been able to drive on her own. Helped us avoid the crowds and gave great advice for places to visit on our own. I would book a tour on the first day you can and enjoy Val’s advice when touring by yourself. I would also recommend booking directly and he offers a discount for multi day tours.

Val offered us a fascinating trip around the east of the island that included exploring some of the most interesting towns in this area (such as Santa Cruz, Machico and Santana) as well as the opportunity to enjoy the natural wonders of eastern Madeira. We especially appreciated the efforts Val made to find us quieter places of beauty and the wealth of knowledge he was able to share about the natural, cultural and political history of the island. Our teenage sons also very much enjoyed the thrill of driving off-road and being able to enjoy rooftop views from the jeep. Overall, we enjoyed the tour so much that we booked a second tour with Val to the West of the island which proved similarly rich and memorable. Without question, exploring the island with Val and sharing his knowledge of Madeira was the highlight of our visit.

Definitely the best way to explore Madeira and get awesome tips for the rest of your trip. We had an amazing first day on Madeira with Valdemar and his 4WD car - you'll definitely see places, you'd never see on your own. We got so many tips for our vacation, that it was worth every single euro and Valdemar is a really great guy!

Winding roads through green hills of east Madeira, passing by small villages and farms. Stopping at a miradouro, taking in the breathtaking ocean views and exploring hidden levada trails. Beautiful scenery, variety of fruits and a lot of positivity from Valdemar. Highly recommended!

Really great trip, Val was really attentive and personable. He’s got genuine and deep knowledge of the island and real pride in his country, which came across and was appreciated and refreshing to hear He makes you feel like he’s there for you. He did his homework on us and really tailored the tour, down to the freshest poncha. Worth noting this service wasn’t a one off and I was introduced by my son who went a few year back and also had a great experience with Val. Would definitely go again.

In 8 hours we got a lot of unforgettable impressions - we saw places which we never would come to otherwise, hidden gems of Madeira, astonishing views and we got tons of information about history, culture, traditions, food etc. Val, our guide, is a brilliant driver and fantastic person, he makes sure everyone is happy. This was quite possibly the most enjoyable tour we’ve ever done. Val is superb and showed us many beautiful places in Madeira. His English is perfect, he has a charming personality and kept us engaged the entire day. We went above the cloud line towards sunset which was beautiful. Enjoyed lunch with a fantastic view. Visited local bars for typical drinks. Visited rum distillery. Hiked in the woods. And got background on the history and culture of Madeira the entire day. Open air 4WD vehicle allowed us to explore where others couldn’t go. Very enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Having spent an excellent day with Val in 2021 on his ‘Let me surprise you tour’ we had no hesitation in booking him for a further 2 days on our return to Madeira. Val took us on fantastic journeys around the East of the island exploring areas that very few people visit and gave us a wonderful insight into the flora, fauna, geography and history of the island. He listens to your preferences and tailors his tours accordingly. He is great company and we felt like we were being shown the island by a good friend. Val is a great driver and has the perfect vehicle to allow off-road excursions and provide unhindered views. We highly recommend him if you are after something unique and different from the numerous standard tours on offer. You will not be disappointed.

This tour came highly recommended by some friends and Vale still managed to exceed my expectations. For anyone interested in photography this is definitely a great way to explore the off-road and backroads of Madeira and being able to stand up and photograph from the open roof allowed for some great shots that would have been missed otherwise. I learned a lot about Madeira and Portugal and it felt more like I was traveling with a friend than a tour. Vale adapts to your desires and never was rushed to adhere to a schedule. I’ll for sure book another day when I return to explore some other areas

This was day 1 of our stay and this tour set us up so well. Val's knowledge of flora and fauna, local culture, history and politics was extensive. He knows his Island and is passionalte about his home. He tailored the tour to what we were interested in and according to the weather that day. The 4x4 allowed us to be off the main roads, able to see smaller villages, waterfalls, stunning views, walk lavadas, away from other tour groups. We sampled delicious local BBQ'd beef, salted tuna, and of course, Poncha and Madeira wine. If you have never visited Madeira before, start with a tour with Val. You can't beat it.

An outstanding day of exploring the island, away from the tourist trail. Val listened and adapted the tour making us feel we were not just being processed on a routine trip. Views were spectacular and Val has a deep knowledge and passion for the island, its flora and its history. Strongly recommend this for anyone who really wants a great day of exploring. Val is an extraordinary guide and did a brilliant job introducing us to the magic of Madeira. We will definitely be coming back to Madeira and will have Val help us plan our days. Our tour of the eastern part of the island included so many wonderful sights and experiences - my favorite was walking along a Levada to get a feel for the remarkable trails that Madeira offers. We got to see the incredible trees when the mist helped to add to their magic. We learned of Val thru a friend who toured with him - Val exceeded the high expectations that our friends wonderful experience established.

We spent three days with Valdemar and the days couldn’t have been any better. He is informed, passionate, and attentive. We wanted to see his Madeira and he shared so many awe inspiring places. Great morning coffee stops. Great lunch stops. I can go on and on. Fun! Fun! Fun! His vehicle was clean and he drove safely.

There is only one thing that I can blame the tour organizer of - the fact that he made a full day pass in a heartbeat. I booked the tour as a surprise for my girlfriend and I was a bit nervous because I did not know what to expect from the tour and organizer, but it turned out I had nothing to be worried about. The private tour was more than I could have hoped for. Val is amazing and has great knowledge about the island’s history and knows the best places to take you. He was very flexible, gave us constantly a lot of options to choose from and took us to places populated by locals mostly, which is what we wanted. He also took us on roads where you could not reach in a regular car (off-road) and the view from a rooftop car while driving is spectacular. Definitely recommend - Spectacular experience!

We had 2 great days out with Val, we totally loved it. Some fabulous memories to treasure forever. Would definitely recommend Val's tours and what other recommendations say are true, I couldn't put everything across any better. It was because of the reviews we had seen that we chose Val and so glad we did. So many different experiences in a day. Madeira is so beautiful, we saw the sunrise, banana plantations, waterfalls and at the end of the first day we had a lift to the toboggans from Monte and had some brilliant photos taken on our route down. We did the North West experience with Val, who was recommended by a friend! It was honestly amazing, Val went above and beyond, tailored the experience to us, took great pictures for us, and was an amazing driver down those tricky off road paths! Could not recommend highly enough - makes it even more special that he avoids other jeep groups and works for himself!

We had two fabulous private tours to the east and west with Val. We arranged our tours for our first two days and it was a wonderful introduction to the island. Being able to go off road in his jeep enabled us to see areas of the island which we could not have ventured to on our own. Val is well informed, personable and eager to share his knowledge of the beautiful island. He took us through diverse areas and showed us amazingly beautiful spots. He also took the time to offer many suggestions for the rest of our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with him and highly recommend his tours.

Valdemar drove us safely through the east of Madeira on what were at times adventurous routes. He had a lot to tell us and was able to answer all of our questions in detail. His German is excellent. With his driving skills and the four-wheel drive car, we were able to discover many places that you can't get to with a rental car. He was happy to adapt the tour to our needs. We were able to try super delicious Poncha and ate really traditional Madeiran food. I can only recommend Valdemar and this tour in particular.

I can only recommend a trip with Valdemar to anyone who is on holiday in Madeira. It was an unforgettable experience. Lots to see and learn, combined with culinary delights (local, of course) and adventure. He took us to beautiful viewpoints in his jeep (open at the top). Sometimes we took shortcuts that were a bit like a safari. He always told us and explained. There were also wild fruits straight from the tree. We were able to taste Madeira rum and for lunch we went to a mountain restaurant with typical dishes - simply wonderful! In the afternoon we didn't have coffee but poncha with fresh local lemons - soooo delicious. Finally we went up to one of the highest peaks in Madeira (above the clouds) Thank you very much Valdemar - always happy to go with you again

With Valdemar it is always an unforgettable experience to drive across the island. With a lot of love and detail he explains his homeland. We were able to put together the tour individually with him. It was very nice that he still knows corners of the island where mass tourism has not yet taken hold. We will definitely book again.

We had an unforgettable sunrise tour of Pico Ruivo. Already on the hike up the mountain Val told us so much information about nature and allowed us a fantastic view over the clouds. The rest of the day was also full of surprises - from an action-packed off-road tour to unknown vantage points, various tastings and priceless information about the island and the people who live there. Val makes these tours a unique and unforgettable experience. We had a great day with him and can highly recommend his tours.
