Private Half-day 4x4 Experience: East Or West

Amazing experience discovering the east side of the beautiful island of Madeira. Pedro our tour guide was the best! Highly recommend this tour company.

We loved our trip and the awesome scenery especially from the Nun’s Valley. This is a wonderful way to see the heights of Madeira behind Funchal and to appreciate the beauty of this wonderful island. The poncho was tasty and the off road experience great fun. Can highly recommend.

Robert, our guide, was excellent; very knowledgeable and informative. However, we felt that the advertising was misleading. For the half day experience, the information on Trip Advisor showed a typical itinerary including Cabo Girao (admission excluded), Pico do Ariero (admission included), Miradouro do Bocas dos Namarado (admission included), Porto Moniz swimming pools (admission excluded) and Stop at Valley of the Nuns (admission included). It also said the duration was five hours. We were picked up at 9:00 and dropped back to our pickup location at 12:45, well under four hours. We had a very interesting drive, including Miradouro da Boca dos Namarados as well as a second viewpoint looking in to the Valley of the Nuns, Cabo Girao with the glass floor lookout straight down to the ocean below, the village of Camera da Lobos with its fishing boats, etc., and a lot of spectacular driving, both on and off road. However, I never went to Pico do Ariero, we never went in to the village of the valley of the nuns, and we never went anywhere near the north coast or Porto Moniz. When we asked Roberto, before starting, where we would be going, he showed only a smallish area, with Valley of the Nuns as the furthest point from Funchal, about a third of the distance to Porto Moniz. When we asked about Porto Moniz, he said that could only be done on a full day tour, in direct contradiction of the itinerary from Trip Advisor. All in all a very enjoyable experience, but definitely not what was advertised or expected. In terms of recommending, I would say yes, but with serious reservations as to the actual vs advertised content.

We are 5 adults with 1 handicapped. Our guide’s name Gil was so accommodating and handled our group with a lot of care getting in and out of the jeep. Always making sure everyone is enjoying the tour. We did 2 half day tours and really enjoyed Gil’s knowledge and outgoing personality. We made plenty of stops and had a great off roading experience! I highly recommend this tour.

What an incredible half day trip!! Our driver, Gil, was amazing!! He took us to less touristy areas, showed us the beauty of Madeira, and even told us about the flora and found wild fruits for us to sample. The photos and video I was able to capture is breathtaking. I cannot put a price on this fantastic experience!!

This was the most incredible day of our trip. Diogo C was a fun, friendly and enthusiastic guide. He knew so many amazing local places off the beaten path that we would never have seen if we weren’t with him. He made sure we were safe, comfortable and having fun every second of the four. We saw so much of the island and just had the best time. We hope to do another tour with true spirit and Diogo while we are in town. Our adult kids said this was their favorite day of our trip. We did a private half day and it was worth every penny. Just book it- you will have amazing memories!

Gil is a friendly and enthusiastic guide who takes the time to show you nature. The best part was the off-road standing up in the back of the Land Rover! But also the views are spectacular. Totally recommend.

This was a great tour in Madeira leaving us completely satisfied - all our expectations were more than fulfilled. We appreciated the individual tour-management. Surely Ruben was a great guide - well informed and very sensitive to our interests - all in all it was a spectacular gorgeous very individual shaped trip! Nice way to discover a part of the island. Our guide/ driver explained us all the interesting things and showed us the nice views from Madeira with passion. We saw places which you can only reach with a 4x4 !Well organised and relaxing trip!

AMAZINGfrom start to finish. Our guides were brilliant,full of infomation and very interesting. Our trip included lunch which you have to catch(fish)and a very good experience. Plenty of stops for photos. Felt safe at every point of the tour. We booked this through our tui rep zamir at the savoy gardens in funchal(very helpful). All in all a very good experience would highly recommend.

Fantastic day! We took our 3 children 16, 12 and 9 and they absolutely loved it. We were so well looked after by our knowledgeable guide and felt safe in his hands. We weren’t rushed at any of our view stops so had time for a drink, toilet and plenty of photo opportunities. Food was included and it was amazing, in fact the best food we’ve had so far this holiday. Booked through TUI our travel rep and would very much recommend. It will definitely be a highlight to our holiday.

A Road trip in the east mountain of madeira to do absolutely! It was impressive and funny to be drived like this. Our guide Ruben was excellent : very pleasant, professionnal and safety. He talks with passion about Madera. We really recommend this expérience

We did the 1/2 day jeep tour of the West side which included Nuns Valley and the Sky Walk plus 4-5 other stops. Our guide was great and was really passionate about the island. I have been on many excursions in different places and this was one of my favorites!

My husband and I chose to do the Majestic Mountain Tour which was half a day. We were picked up by Duarte who was absolutely charming, passionate and knowledgeable about the history, natural history and geology of the island. We had a fantastic trip with wonderful views of the scenic landscape and lots of interesting conversation on sustainability. Our tour finished at an ecologically sympathetic tea house which served a variety of tea infusions and very delicious cake. We would thoroughly recommend this tour!

Just returned from a day with Rui on the full day east coast tour. Had a great day, lots of fun and lots of sightseeing including levada walk and lunch out. Rui was very informative throughout the day and the company is genuinely concerned about the environment. Can thoroughly recommend this company.

<p>We were to receive an email from Viator about the meeting place, but cannot fault the guide. Our guide, Rui was excellent, He knew all the right places to take us and was flexible with what we wanted to do and see.. All in all we were able to go off the beaten track and the restaurant he took us to for lunch not included was superb.</p>

Had a great time with this group of guys! Did a half day tour, entertained from the moment we were picked up. Our driver was fillipe who was informative and great fun as were all the guys. Would highly recommend this tour, all nationalities were catered for and all appeared to enjoy it. If you want a tour where you sit quietly staring though the window this is not the tour for you, or if you've had a sense of humour by-pass. Great fun!!

Half a day on the road with the jeep, seeing beautiful views. The guide was very friendly and told a lot about the island. There was also time for a poncha and coffee. All in all worth it!

We had a guide, christophe, both adorable and connoisseur of the island and plants. The lunch was excellent and local, and what about the places travelled, with very varied and incredible landscapes. This is the exclusion we preferred to Madeira!

Have made the full day tour by jeep, north and Porto Moniz. Despite an unfavourable weather (rain, roads not passable), Ruben the guide knew how to make this excursion nice and pleasant. We'll remember the shower under a waterfall falling on the road with the convertible jeep! The north coast is also nice with a slightly rough sea and very nice colors.

Everything worked out fine all around! We were picked up on time at the time we mentioned. The driver has responded to our wishes very nicely and has shown us very nice sides of Madeira! A great experience!
