Our group of 6 had an outstanding day with Nelson on our East Side tour! Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area to see the beauty of the island. We enjoyed the many breathtaking views, a local restaurant and market and a rum tasting. Nelson was friendly, informative and very easy to understand.

A wonderful full day with Hugo exploring the north and west side of beautiful Madeira. Hugo was terrific - very knowledgeable about Madeira - we saw and learned details about the island that I don’t think we would have seen without a more dedicated guide. Highly recommended. We have lots of great memories. If you have time for only one tour - choose Hugo and choose the West. The East is interesting also / but the West is the jewel.

Gil gave us a tour to remember. He was an excellent tour guide (and driver). He was incredibly efficient and thoughtful throughout the two days we toured with him and our time together felt tailored to our interests and personalities. Gil flexed his skill set by not only navigating the busy curved roads around the island but also by surprising us with multiple off road adventures. Gil was knowledgeable and passionate about his island and made us feel welcomed. If you come to Madeira, you can't do much better than this tour company and Gil.

The trip was fantastic! The views were amazing! The off-roading was fun! But the best part was Gil, our guide. He was knowledgeable and fun! We would highly recommend this tour company and Gil for this tour!

We just spent one and 1/2 days with our amazingGuide Gil who took us to places we would never have been able to find ourselves. He took time to explain things clearly about culture, vegetation, the island of Madeira’s agriculture and the beautiful scenic areas on the eastern half of the island. Up close and personal, and always gracious in our company. What an amazing experience we had!

The entire trip was amazing! The views were breathtaking! Our guide Diogo Camacho made the experience so much fun and so pleasant. We would highly recommend this tour!

We made a tour with the tourguide Gil (it was our second tour with him) . It is so amazing how much Gil can tell and explain about the island and its nature and population. He is so much devoted to his job. The tour also included narrow steeper streets and offroad paths in the open offroad-jeep - this is so much fun we have never experienced before (Thanks to goog old Land Rover).

We took a full day tour with Gil and Tony. These guys are amazing!! We enjoyed every road taken. The mix of nature and offroad was Perfect. Hope to repeat it someday.

The guides, Diogo and Gil were exceptional Individuals and couldn’t have done more to make the whole day very memorable and special. The experience was both exciting and informative and my mixed aged group all loved it. We were taken to fabulous places all over the west side of the island. The choice for a lunch venue was perfect with great food and efficient service. Really top notch and highly recommended.

Had such a good time, We had Gil as a tour guide, so informative and an amazing driver. Got some great photos. Loved the off-roading bit the best.

A fun and exiting way to see the west of Madeira! Getting to stand up in the back of the Land Rover and ride through the mountains and under waterfalls is an unforgettable experience! Our tour guide Michael was very friendly and knowledgeable. Well worth it!

We did the private full day tour - it was an amazing experience. We were staying in Funchal and hadn't rented a car. This trip allowed us to explore the best spots on the island in one full day. Our driver Rui was super knowledgeable, he really made the day a lot of fun and the off-road driving was really cool...definitely something you couldn't do without a guide. Really a must do trip when visiting Madeira.

We did a private tour of the west side of the island with Rui. The experience was fantastic - we visited all the just visit sites and many more sites that Rui added on to the trip. It was a wonderful experience in the open top Land Rover and Rui was an excellent drive - both in the on and off road parts of the trip! Rui was also highly knowledgable about the island - its history, vegetation and wildlife. Would highly recommend this tour.

Paulo was fabulous!! We were able to see so many things on this beautiful island. He brought us to a wonderful restaurant with amazing views. The food was delicious and we were even able to do a wine tasting which was great. We had a wonderful day and would recommend this tour to anyone.

This was the best thing I did during my time in Madeira! I can't put into words how beautiful the island is from the perspective seen on this trip. Our tour guide franc was fantastic and full of knowledge he really went above and beyond! I would highly recommend this trip for anyone! We were a family of 3 and it suited us fine the kids both loved it there really is something for everyone. We saw beautiful valleys, mountains, we went on the sky walk and to the lava pools for a swim as well as having dinner in a restaurant at the highest point in Madeira it was special.

What a superb day out that was! Picked up at the stated time by Rui the driver. His English language was superb and what is more he was very knowledgable and was always informing us about the history, fauna and flora of the island. The interior of the island was a bit foggy at times so it is best to bring along warm clothing and coats for the odd occasion these are required. We visited several points of interest on the island from the laurel forests to the almost desert like east coast. There is a short but interesting levada walk that ended up at a small restaurant / trout fishery in the laurel forest. There you have the opportunity of espetada (beef on bay skewer) or catch your own trout. Your trout is then prepared by the restaurant. Wine (good), beer or soft drinks as well. Total trip time was 8 hours. This is the fourth time that we have been to Madeira but the first time that we have done a 4x4 trip. It is fair to say that this trip was the best we have ever done and that is mainly due to Rui and his enthusiasm. Both ourselves and the other couple with us also that it was well worth the cost which considering what we experienced was very good value indeed. HIGHLY RECOMMENED.

Diogo really made the day special for us and was an excellent guide. We drove up the mountains through the clouds and saw fantastic views then had a great off-road experience. He treated us to local drinks and snacks (highly recommended) then finally gave us a tour of the lower lying valleys. It really made our holiday!!

Our driver/guide, Duarte, quickly understood what we liked and didn’t. He customized the day 100%. We stayed a lot of the beaten path. Did beautiful walks, some nice off-road (not extreme), stopped for a swim in the lava pools and enjoyed a lot of amazing view points as well as local foods and drinks. It was a perfect day to discover parts of the island we would have never seen otherwise.

East part of Madeira is a must see place with amazing houses, Nature and people. Thanks to True Spirit and our driver Rui for this fantastic day

We did the West-Tour and enjoyed breathtaking views, lovely swims in Porto Moniz and adventurous off-road tracks. We had the time of our lifes with driver David! He drives the Jeep like a pro even through all the rough off-road parts of the tour. It was so much fun! We recommend it to everyone who wants to get a different and new sight of Madeira !

Everything was perfect ! The tour is very beautiful and to see a lot of the landscape in Madeira when you don't have si much time, it's great! Pour guide was very funny too (it was David)

An absolute wonder! We did a private full day safari with the amazing guide Rui! Rui is super professional, efficient, nice and a man from the island that loves what we does! He took us everywhere and showed us all the impressive and important places along the island! We did all the off-road trails in the island aboard an amazing 4x4 Defender SUV “coupe” that allowed us to see everything more clearly and in funnier way, always felling safe with the experienced driving skills of Rui. Definitely a company, a guide and an experience that I fully recommend.

This is a trip not to be missed when you visit Madeira, amazing scenery (don't forget warm clothes when you go up into the mountains!) and so many photo opportunities. We were picked up/dropped off at the hotel and had Luis-David as our guide, he was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and we had great fun. The levada walk was short but interesting and the group photos were a lovely touch. Catching your own lunch at the trout lakes was brilliant and very tasty, as was all the food, in a lovely setting and we thoroughly enjoyed the fruits and berries that we tried along the way. I would recommend this trip without doubt.

We went on a full day trip with Ruben to the east side of the island, and had an amazing day! We had so much fun and would definitely arrange for another trip the next time we visit Madeira. Ruben was the most perfect guide with such an amount of knowledge! He even knew all of the latin names of the plants and flowers. We highly recommend a tour with Ruben! The day was packed with stunning view and lots of fun. The part with the off-road-experience was fantastic. What a car and what a driver!

Well worth doing the 4x4 East tour. Felt very safe and loved the off road experience. Our driver/guide Luis was knowledgeable and informative. We learnt so much about the area. Fishing for our own lunch was great too. Loved the trout farm and the owner gave an excellent account of the working of the farm - very motivational talk! The trip is well planned to include breaks too. Thank Luis for one of the best trips we have ever been on. Thank you also to the team of drivers who kept us all entertained throughout the day. Our guide was louis, he was amazing. He really made this experience fun. He shared lots of local information and was very funny. We had plenty of time at the stops to take photos and enjoy the scenery. The 4x4 experience was great because we got to go through all the narrower roads a coach wouldn't be able to access. This means you get to see the real Madeira. Dinner was at the trout farm. Very informative and nice to see somewhere in this day and age thay makes use of nature instead of relying on machines and technology to do all the work. He explained all about how the farm works using nature and looking after our planet. If you eat fish you can catch your own dinner aswell. Just before dinner we had a nice walk through the forest, which was good to stretch your legs. It was a flat easy walk, although I would reccomend using good boots as there is quiet a few tree roots sticking out so have to watch where your walking, quiet a few people kept tripping over them. There was 6 people on our tour although I think the 4x4 could have upto 8 people, I think 6 is just the right number and 8 people could feel a bit crowded.

Just returned from best day out ever. Did TUI organised full day highlights of the east, with trout farm for lunch. Our guide Luis was very informative, and stopped many times to point out things, explain the flora of the island (and scrump the wild fruit 😋). Even fished for a trout for lunch! Perfect opportunity to see what the island has to offer, off and on road. Including a forest mountain walk and viewing from the eastern most tip of the island.

This was certainly one of the best jeep tours I had so far. The tour was not only informative, but also hilarious, thanks to our very skilled driver. If you want to experience the east of Madeira, I can only recommend doing the Jeep tour over a regular tour. It’s simply way more fun than getting carried around in a bus.

First went to the peak for a wonderful view and than i had a great off road experience today. Thanks to our driver Louis who did not get stuck like the driver in front of us. I am afraid of heights but didn't break out in a sweat once. Louis is a real relaxed driver and knows where what trees and plants are growing. He will even pick some fruit for you if possible so you can have a taste. The walk down along the levada was breathtaking (in a good way ;-)) and catching your own fish for lunch was good fun. A great experience, money well spent!

Had a really great day with True Spirit! Our driver, Louis, was a brilliant driver and a fantastic guide/raconteur who kept us both informed and amused all day. The planned (and unplanned) stops were well appreciated (he even picked us some wild, local fruit to try) and made the day pass too quickly. Lunch at the trour farm was delicious and the information imparted there by the farm owner very informative. Overall an experience we would not have missed! Thank you!

We had a beautiful day in the 4x4 jeep tour! Our guide Ruben was super friendly and funny, he showed and explained so many different things. The views were astonishing, luckily we had nice weather. The off road sections were great! A real adrenaline kick but Ruben always made sure everyone was feeling ok. The food in the Parque Ribeira Primeira was amazing! You can either catch your own trout and watch it get cleaned or have a typical espetada on the BBQ. Both tasted great! Everyone is really friendly! 100% recommend!

We had a great day out with Braz (who drives like a pro).we went up into the mountains where we had spectacular views.the offroad experiences were exciting. Fantastic lunch in a secluded eco-friendly restaurant amidst greenery. Braz is extremely knowledgeable about plant life on the island and the whole tour was very enjoyable indeed. Can only warmly recommend .

Tony is not just an excellent driver, he is a great entertainer and we laughed all day. He showed us marvellous view points, gave plenty of comments to everything of interest on Madeira. We returned to our hotel with lots of photos and memories. Martina and Bill Calladine
