Enjoyed our tour to the east with our excellent and very funny guide Renato. We saw some lovely places with Renato giving us a very informative commentary all day. Would definitely be using Feeling Madeira again and highly recommend them. Carole and Gary

Camacha is a beautiful village located in a wooded area, over a high plateau, at the Northeast of Funchal, in Madeira. This village is famous for its excellent basketing and its folkloric group.
Be surprised by the imposing views offered by the third highest peak in the island of Madeira. Pico do Areeiro Pico do Areeiro © F.C. Madeira Tourism The Pico do Arieiro Pike, 1818 meter high, is the third highest summit in the Island of Madeira. It is highly advised to climb all the way up to the top of this mountain to enjoy the great beauty of the volcanic landscape and its wonderful views.
Ribeiro Frio is an exquisite place, surrounded by aromatic forests, offering a welcoming environment. Its hillsides are crowded with numerous plant species and make up the Forest Part of Madeira. Here, taking advantage of environmental benefits, it has been installed a little trouts fish farm. Obviously, the trout is one of the most recommended dishes of its neighboring restaurant.
Main town of Santana with an incredible view to the Eagle's Rock, Porto Santo, Ponta de São Lourenço and the farming villages that were crossed after Ribeiro Frio.
Santana is one of the nicest and most colorful villages in Madeira. Here, its inhabitants used to live in beautiful wooden cottages with roofs ending in the narrow head (Palheiros). Some of them still survive among the modern constructions, especially those close to Queimadas area.
You'll visit Ponta de São Lourenço, and your experience will be enriched by having a guide to point out native vegetation and wildlife, that you might miss if you were alone.
The city of Machico takes up a little cove in the mouth of the Valley of the Ribeira de Machico. Here took place the landing of Zarco in Madeira for the first time in 1420, claiming for Portugal an island which was known by the sailors since ancient times.

a great trip around the east side of madeira and up to the mountains with a visit to the rum distillery the guide Roberto was informative and funny constantly pointing out points of interest and talking about the history of Madeira the tour lasted about 8 hours but with the amazing sights the time just flew by would highly recommend this tour its a pity that ididnt have time to do the other side of the island ,maybe next time
Great experience to see Madeira in a day. Tour guide delivered exceptional commentary. Value for money. Thanks
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Renato (who is definitely NOT George!) He was friendly, enthusiastic and happy to share his local knowledge of the plants and flowers as well as the various interesting places we visited. He was also a careful and confident driver on the fairly hair-raising roads we were diverted onto when the highway was shut. We were lucky to have a glorious clear day and the views from Pico do Areeiro were spectacular. Would definitely recommend this company and this guide.
We had the best tour thanks to Renato Rodriguez. The sites were amazing and we had so much fun with Renato's humor.
This was a great tour! Spectacular views and our guide, Lionel, offered so much to the experience. Excellent guide! I am only here for 6 days and I wanted to see as much as possible without using a day that didn’t deliver. I highly recommend this tour, especially Lionel our guide today.
Paulo was an excellent driver who took us round the Eastern end of Madeira, over the mountains and up to Picos de Areiera. He provided a cheerful commentary giving loads of information and was kind and thoughtful to his passengers.
Renato was a great guide and so informative he spoke throughout the trip telling us about the places and people of Madeira ,beautiful places that we visited, could have done with a little longer in some of the stops.
Wonderful tour of this beautiful island- Renato was a great guide, full of knowledge and very amusing. Recommend the trip.
The tour was on a mini bus which is much more comfortable rather than on a big. The driver Renatou( sorry if spelt wrong)was very chatty and told us s lot of interesting things. I recommend this tour😊.
It was great fantastic we loved it. Our guide (Lyno) he was amazing had so much information brilliant a must 100% recommend. Thank you so much 👍
Picked up at the Hotel, and off we go on an adventure of the East Madeira. The driver was very informative, and funny I would highly recommend you use this company.
They didn't stick to the itinerary listed on the tour. Also the seat to get up into the car was broken and we had a member with foot problems. We requested two car seats for our two children they only had one and then they shouted at us and said we didn't give them the information when we clearly did because it was on the ticket and I had to argue. She had to drive unsafely with one child without a car seat till the next site in order for me to remind her again to get the second car seat for the other child. The tour operator that we were swapped to because our child was car sick was very good! His name was Lionel and he was very informative and very jolly and cracked a lot of jokes which made the tour fun. There are a lot of hills and windy roads if you are car sick to be aware of. The main views were rushed we didn't have enough time to do the walk. A very long 8 hour tour with rushed sites and lots of driving.
We were picked up from our hotel promptly and the guide kept us informed throughout the tour. The tour is a great overview of the east side of madeira. We enjoyed pico de arieiro particularly s views were spectacular. We would have preferred longer there as we spent an hour and a half in Santana which we felt was too long. Also the rum distillery wasn't particularly interesting either. We preferred the view points. Great tour and would recommend. Gloria was very helpful too.
Took the East Coast tour. Guide Paulo was very knowledgeable and brought to life a lot about Madeirean lifestyle and customs. The tour was well run and managed, with a comfortable minibus. Will use again, and recommend this company.
My tour guide PAOLO COELHO was the best i ever had, very knowledgable ,his way of explaining gives you a complete picture of the history and traditions in Madeira, perfect english,i was very impressed! O spent a really nice time
A really good trip in the eastern part of Madeira. Pico Ruivo in particular was amazing! Renato was a fantastic guide with a huge knowledge of the island.
The tour guide made the trip a special one! Renato was very knowledgeable about the island, he was pointing out all the different trees , flowers, fruits and plants which we appreciated. The East Tour had some fantastic stops, such good value for money. For me the village of Santana was my favourite with the triangular houses. Feeling Madeira offered a great service for a great price and Renato was genuinely one of the best tour guides we’ve ever met! His enthusiasm shone through 😊
Our guide, Leonel , was absolutely fantastic! His enthusiasm and knowledge were infectious. His humor and friendly nature made the tour feel like exploring the city with a friend.
We had an amazing day and the driver and guide Lionel did a great job to tell us all about Madeira. He was easy to understand, had a great sense of humour and really made our day. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone
Renato was great company and very knowledgeable of Madeira and its flora and fauna. I would highly recommend this tour and Renato
Renato was our tour guide. He was so informative and had a great sense of humour. The tour was great from start to finish. I'm not sure which was my favourite bit, seeing the oldest christ the redeemer, the rum or the final stop at the top of the mountain! You stop between 20 and 30 minutes at each stop, which is enough, to be honest. We stopped for an hour and a half for lunch, which was also just enough. Would thoroughly recommend! (Infact we recommended it when we met new holiday friends who are planning on doing the tour!) Definitely go, it's well worth the money :)
Just returned to our hotel following a stunning tour of the East of Madeira courtesy of our very engaging guide, Renato. His knowledge and passion for the island was clear. We also completed a half day tour three days ago to Nuns Valley with guide Gabriel who was equally as informative. Both destinations are amazing even with fog at the peak of East tour making it very atmospheric. Would thoroughly recommend this tour company.
The driver and our guide safely brought us to some interesting places of eastern Madeira. Although we didn’t visit all the places mentioned in the description (Camacho Parish Church and Fortress of Faial were missing), we did some other stops that weren’t mentioned in the description, as of example the visit to the Statue of Jesus Christ or the Rum Factory. The explanations (bilingual) of our guide were very detailed and interesting and the rests sufficient for taking photos or simply enjoying the nature. One minus point for the comfort in the minibus: the seat belts were super strong and not easy to fasten (no movement possible after closing them) and the windows were very low so that you could hardly see anything or enjoy the countryside.
The driver Renato was the best! We chatted all the way (had the prime seats with him!). Thanks so much for a wonderful day!
Gloria, our guide, made this tour. Her driving was steady and moderate and her knowledge of the island unparalleled. She conveyed her knowledge in a relatable way and ensured that we all had an excellent experience.
We did see a few interesting sites, but because it was raining, some places were not visible. Our driver did well driving the very difficult route, but we felt that for that money we should have received more information at the sites. The trip is overpriced.
I would thoroughly recommend this tour. Our driver, Sergio, was super-helpful and very informative, obviously possessing a vast amount of knowledge about the area. He went above and beyond to make it a fun and positive day for everyone!!😊
A splendid day with our driver who I believe was Sergio. He was a safe, knowledgeable, polite and engaging driver. He had a remarkable knowledge of the local flora as well as interesting information about the areas we visited. He also offered amusing anecdotes that kept the people in the van smiling!
Great full day tour. Amazing lunch at a local restaurant (22€) 3 courses with wine. Guide very knowledgeable
Renato the guide was excellent. Very knowledgeable and interesting. A great value day out with the right amount of stops.
First and foremost, our driver and tour guide, Renato Rodrigues, drove the tour van SAFELY throughout the tour, especially when the road and weather conditions, and bad driving of other drivers, suddenly created hazardous driving conditions. Sustaining such superb skill level at the steering wheel throughout a full day tour is an essential qualification that can not be taken for granted in the challenging road and weather conditions encountered in Madiera. Meanwhile, Renato conducted the tour and his fluent conversations with everyone on the tour in BOTH Portuguese and English! Hence, everyone on the tour understood it. Our tour guide greeted each passenger with a radiant smile and engaged them with a friendly personality that kept them interested in his presentations that balanced a blend of history and humor. When my wife took this tour, she had impaired mobility because of major orthopedic surgery several months before it. I appreciated the wonderful way that Renato ensured that she and each of the other passengers embarked and disembarked the van SAFELY. I am pleased to recommend the East Side tour to Madeira tourists, and especially if that tour is led by Renato Rodrigues. Dan Ottaviano, Commander U.S. Navy, Retired
We were picked up exactly on time by our guide, he was friendly, funny and very knowledgeable, all of the stops were just the right amount of time and we were shown some stunning scenery and some very special places. He was a very safe driver and we felt relaxed and confident with him. All in all we have no negatives to share it was an all round positive experience, the tour was extremely well organised and superb value for money, we cant thank you enough. Martin & Treena
This was an absolutely brilliant tour highly recommend these fantastic company. Sergio was our driver, he was brilliant, informative, caring and could not do enough for us. We were a group of 6, family, celebrating a 80th and 60th birthday. He looked after my mum especially. He even surprised us with a cake !!! He had so much knowledge of the island, great English, and made the tour so interesting. Please use this company, they are brilliant. We will be back.
Santana, lovely town where we had a long stop. One criticism. The tour advertised traditional wicker basket making at Camacha, but when we got there, the guide said that it had stopped during covid and not restarted. Coupled with rainy weather, the last third of the tour was a washout.
Wonderful trip with an excellent guide. We were introduced to beaches, forest, desert, mountains and agricultural land all in a few hours. Renato was so knowledgeable about the fruits and vegetables we passed, pointing out specimens. Scenery from the viewpoints was stunning too.
Even though our trip got cut short due to problems with the car, the driver was lovely & very informative. He told us alot about the country and specific places would do it again if i had more time but was leaving next day.
Really enjoyed the tour especially being above the clouds on Pico Arieira. Gabriel was very informative and fun and Renato an excellent driver. The only downside was that as we didn't book the lunch we had two hours to kill in Santana which is a very quiet and uninteresting town. One hour would have been more than enough. I appreciate that the people having lunch needed that time so maybe stop in a more interesting town. Machico looked much nicer!
In the description you will find the routes, I would like to share some photos. The service was excellent from start to finish, we had Renato Rodrigues as a cheerful guide, because of his headset everyone on the bus can hear him easily. 😃 I do reveal that the lunch stop is highly recommended. The stops are pleasant and last an average of 30 minutes, which is long enough to admire the town.
Gabriel, our guide, was awesome - incredibly knowledgeable, amiable and funny and really made our trip unforgettable. Madeira is a beautiful island and we saw so much of it from the luscious forests, exotic fruit trees, plants and flowers to the villages, towns and ports as well as the incredible rugged coast line and the vast Atlantic Ocean. Lunch was delicious and we loved the local feel - Gabriel looked after us and ensured we all had a wonderful experience. All in all a fantastic trip, amazing value for money and of course we can’t thank Gabriel enough for the memories.
Renato and Gabriel really went out of their way to make this a fun and informative tour. Their enthusiasm was boundless and it made the whole day a memorable experience. We learned so much about the island, its vegetation and its culture. Some of the scenery was amazing. They found us a good lunch spot too.
Fabulous tour guides but unacceptable safety standards. We booked a tour with this provider and asked for advice on if it was appropriate to bring a 7 month old. They advised a charge to provide a suitable car seat. The car seat was for a 4 year old, completely unsuitable and dangerous. We felt pressured into proceeding with the tour and had to carry our baby in our arms all day on dangerous mountain roads. I contacted the provider to ask for, at least, a refund of the seat that they didn't provide. They never even responded. Very disappointed and cannot recommend, especially with children.
Every stop we had was really nice with very beautiful view points. The driver was very friendly but i think that some times he didnt translate in english.
We really enjoyed the east tour. Our guide his English was really clear and he told us a lot of interesting facts about Madeira. He was also a good driver. We saw a lot of beautiful places. Would 100% recommend Feeling Madeira. They offer a really great service!
We enjoyed the tour very much. We managed to see the highlights from the eastern half of the island in a single day. The tour was made all the more pleasant by our guide Duarte who gave us interesting information about the sights we visited, drived carefully and was patient with us while we were taking pictures. There was only one family of three with us, which made the tour even nicer. We were also satisfied with the restaurant where we stopped for a lunch break.
We had Renato Rodrigues as our tour guide for the East tour. Renato is a fantastic guide, very knowledgable, funny and helpful - not only did he have a deep understanding of the history of Madeira with its various towns and municipalities, but he also knew a great deal about the ecology of the island - which for me, was especially interesting. Full day tour, very informative and thorough, with enough time spent at each stop to enjoy and take photos. We would recommend Renato 100% 5 star review. Also, Vitor Sardinha Sousa, who we booked the tours through, was very helpful and informative - showing us a nice presentation of all the tours prior to booking and to contact him via WhatsApp made booking the tours very easy. Thank you very much to both of you! Tom and Isabella
Picked up from hotel at 9am taken on a guided East tour of the island with many beautiful stops. Renato was our very informative friendly guide. Had a brilliant day and ended up having the local puncho drink (which cleared my cold) in a old worldly bar on the mountain top. Thoroughly recommend trip Thank you very much Vicky and Jane 😁
This tour went all around the east of Madeira, from the highest point at 1808 metres to sea level. The Driver/Guide Renato was superb. A very sound driver and very knowledgeable local guide. Renato having spent some years in South Africa has great English and a very good sense of humour. He also had the knack of avoiding other tour busses at most stops. It was a tour that we enjoyed so much, we booked another to the West. The most enjoyable bits were the tour size was small, only 6 on one tour and 8 on the second, which made it very personal. I recommend this tour company 100%.
It was a very interesting, varied tour with enough time at the stops. Only the bus was too cramped; we had no legroom. That is very exhausting for a day trip.
No comment, everything is great. Good information, small travel group is very pleasant for getting around.
